Huntik Heroes

Chapter 2

So, some of you may not know what half of the story is based on. To that… You know what just look it up. The series is what you see in the crossover description. I found it a little before I started working and studying archaeology. Because it dealt with what I enjoy studying, I ended up watching both seasons. I also felt like it could be a good story to merge with the MHA universe. Plus, the fact that powers existed before quirks felt like a good storyline.

(No POV)

After Izuku got home, he told his mom about some of what had happened. And that Asahi and his father would be stopping by tomorrow. Inko was a bit nervous at the idea of a strange individual coming to their home. But the look on Izuku's face at the fact he had made a new friend and one who believed in him. It made her happy but also remorseful.

She thought back to the day he was diagnosed quirkless. He was crying while asking if he could be a hero like All Might. All she could do was apologize and say that she wished things were different. She knew both of them had been scared by that day, but this strange new boy seemed to help Izuku feel like there was a new chance. She had also heard about him from Mitsuki.

Apparently, Katsuki got beat by that same boy. 'Izuku said that the boy Asahi didn't have a quirk, but I don't understand how he could have knocked out Katsuki with one hit without one.' Inko mulled this over for a while before bed. She would have to find out from the boy or the boy's father tomorrow.

A little after noon, the doorbell rang at the apartment of the Midoriya family. When Inko went to answer the door and was surprised by the site. The boy she assumed was Asahi was just like Izuku had described to her, but the man she assumed was his father was a different sight. While blonde hair was not that uncommon anymore in Japan (especially those trying to copy All Might) it was the other features that threw her off.

The boy had green eyes, but his father had only one green eye. The other eye was obscured by an eye patch. 'He is a bit taller than Mitsuki if I were to compare. Between the eye patch and the build of his body I'm sure he's been involved in many dangerous things. Should I really let him in?'

While is going over these thoughts in her mind the blonde man says, "you must be young Midoriya's mother, right? I'm pleased to meet you. My name is William Lambert. Asahi is my son here." With that polite introduction out of the way, Inko was brought out of her thoughts. She bowed politely and said, "Yes. I am Izuku's mother. My name is Midoriya Inko. It's a pleasure to meet you… Um Lambert-san correct? I'm guessing that is your family name."

William just smiled and nodded. "Yes, it is. My family is originally from Ireland, though I grew up in the states. I came here for business a while back and met my wife. I can explain more later but well…" "OH! Yes, please come in. I'll make some tea."

Once they had come in and everyone was seated in the living room, William began to explain what he wanted to talk about. "Your son may have mentioned that he gained an ability that he called a quirk recently, correct?" After Inko nodded with a worried look on her face. She didn't know where this was going but it seemed very important.

"I can tell you right now that it isn't a quirk. What he has unlocked is something vastly different. Something that only twenty percent of the world can actually use." "What do you mean? With what Izuku described both himself and your son being able to do can only be done with quirks right? That is the only powers that exist."

William sits back and takes a deep breath, "That is in fact a convenient lie. There have been those with powers that have existed for thousands of years. My son and I are both of a very long line of these types of individuals. You're skeptical. You've only been told what most people want to believe or think makes them special. Or capable. It helps some of them feel more human in a way. It is a lot of why your son is disliked. He goes against the norm that all want to believe so they can all feel better about themselves."

Inko is getting more and more terrified at what he is saying especially how he phrases his opinion of quirks. She's wondering if this a group that is out to destroy quirks and they want to recruit her baby into it to be like a child soldier. "I assure you ma'am that is not what is going on."

Inko has a terrified look on her face. Did she just- "Yes you said that all out loud. We're not some genocidal group or anything like that. In fact, my family and a few others fought against those types. No, we are part of a group who protects the world from things they aren't ready for. Or should ever mess with. I can demonstrate a few things with it right now… Nothing huge or hopefully terrifying. Just a few things that I can do, and I can teach your son."

While a bit unsure of what he could do, she is curious on what it is that he could demonstrate. So, she nods. "Alright. I'll show you a few spells first." Both Izuku and Inko are wide eyed at the man saying spells. 'Wait like magic' They think as William demonstrates.

"Boltflare!" Once he says that a small little sphere of light appears in his hand and floats around him. It moves with his hand movements, and he asks Izuku to bring him a glass with some ice. Once it is there, he shows how it melts the ice in the glass. Then he refreezes the water by calling our "Augerfrost!"

Inko is of course surprised as usually a person with a quirk can either freeze or heat something. Not do both. He then takes this moment to tell Izuku, "Now I want you to relax. Think about what I just did and said and try to replicate it." Izuku isn't sure at first but the look in his new friend and his father's eyes gives him the confidence to try.

"Boltflare?" Izuku says and a small light pops into his hand. He almost drops it out of surprise, but it just floats in front of him. While Inko is processing what she just saw her son do, William takes that moment to say, "Spells are only half of what we do. The other half comes from our amulets. You have one. Reach for its name while we show ours. Bulreguard!" "Springer!" The two blondes say as light glows from their amulets.

From the blue light pops a little two tailed grey fox creature, that lands of Asahi's shoulder. And from the green light comes a bulldog with glowing green eyes, stone looking paws and some sort of cloak over his body.

Of course, Inko doesn't know how to process what she just saw and almost faints. She calms down a little once the little fox comes up to her and she pets it. After that Bulreguard comes over and sits next to her and she pets it as well. That is when Izuku taps into the amulet and realizes what its name is.

"Come forth, Helinx!" Then out of another green glow comes a strange looking cat. With a red face, spikes coming out of its green armor and glowing yellow eyes. While she is a bit more frightened by this one (especially with those spikes) it comes up to Izuku warmly and rubs against him. Then she notices the spikes shrink down a bit. So Izuku picks up the cat and pets it. To which it starts purring.

"Normally I'd be more concerned about a Yama titan being that friendly, but it seems like you have a bit of a knack for them." "A what titan? And wait is that what these are called titans?" William gives her a bit of a look, "So you're willing to believe that there area stranger things out there than you know?" Inko looks a bit bashful but relents admitting that she can't deny what she has seen so far.

Thus, William starts his explanation. "Long ago, there were creatures that threatened the whole of humanity. They were an evil that sought to destroy all life and civilization. However, a man with indomitable will and spirit managed to tap into a different world. He managed to summon creatures from that world to fight this evil. These creatures or beings were the titans. To help link them here he created amulets that serve as their anchor to this world. From them he also learned magic. Spells to do more than just the blasts you saw me, and your son use. He fought the creatures with friends and family for over five hundred years. And when they and their portal to this world were sealed away, he passed peacefully. His mission complete."

Izuku and Inko have just stunned looks on their faces. Neither one can even begin to imagine being able to live that long. Even with quirks few have been recorded living passed maybe one hundred and fifty years. But even that was pushing it and the persons body still aged greatly. Once they have shaken loose their confusion at that matter, Inko asks "So where do you all fit in with this? Or more importantly how does my son fit into this?"

"In the centuries that followed, seekers no longer had a common enemy. So, a variety of groups arose that sought the various powers from the ancient war. Many of those seekers also had the sense at times to seal up or away powerful spells or titans so no one could be hurt by them. Others sought to use those powers to take over or control people. But the organization I am a part of, the Huntik Foundation, have pushed back against those who try to do just that. Almost three hundred years ago, my ancestor faced not only those who sought to bring that ancient enemy back and won. He also managed to stop them from appearing as the seal on them had weakened."

After hearing another incredible story Inko was even more confused. "If your ancestor was successful, why do your capabilities matter now? There isn't an enemy to fight anymore is there?"

William sighed and said, "If only it was ever that simple. While one enemy had been defeated, they've been gaining strength in recent years. And unfortunately, it is the fault of quirks and the evil they create and are born from. You see only people who are quirkless can awaken the powers of a seeker." This of course floored both of them harder than they thought. Especially at calling quirks evil.

"Your son has seen some of it. How they all treat those without an obvious or often frankly pointless power, they make people who don't have quirks grow to hate them. And one of our worst enemies' powers thrive on that. There is also a problem in that people with quirks have extremely limited and often weak minds and wills. One of the basic spell we use is called Simplemind. Aside from erasing memories, it can allow a seeker to somewhat control a person's functions. And our enemies have created or modified those same functions to where they can turn people into, about the only thing I can think quirks are good for: making living weapons. Ones that they don't have to use their own power for." He lets it sink in for a second before continuing with stating that no one really looks twice at a quirkless person going missing. And because most heroes are also extremely weak minded and willed, too many of them may not even know they are being used or manipulated.

With this dark revelation, Inko put together that; if it hadn't been these people there was a chance these same dark monsters might have tried to recruit her son. They would have convinced him to turn those with quirks into weapons. Izuku on the other hand is reeling at the reveal that a great evil is growing so easily. He wonders if even All Might could face them. "But isn't Japan safe? With All Might here villains aren't gonna try something right?"

William looks down and says, "He has his own set of issues. Also, he can't be everywhere at once. As impressive as he may be, there are those in the darker underground are happy to work with this same enemy of ours. Of course, both intend to betray each other. But their mutual goal is to create chaos. And I'm pretty sure All Might won't be able to handle what is coming his way." With all these terrifying statements, Inko is more inclined to kick these two out.

But she has a bigger question in mind, "Do you intend for my son to join you in the fight against them?" Asahi speaks up with this all finally and says, "I know I'd really like it. There's not a lot of kids who want to be around me much." "But that isn't fully up to us. Izuku wouldn't have to be a frontline fighter. Many in the foundation, even those who are seekers, focus on research or healing. I'm slightly retired myself, so I mostly focus on training a few new recruits from this nation or other regions. I also do a bit of the research involved with finding relics that have been resealed or new tombs that have been made. The choice is up to him. But we can give him training, and a new path if he wants it. Also, I'm guessing your husband is stuck on long trips thanks to working for a black company." Inko winces at that as well.

William smiles warmly and says, "My family are connected to a few different companies and businesses. I might be able to get him transferred to a better company. If you are interested as well Midoriya-san, I could set you up with a simple job with a company close by. You wouldn't have to work crazy hours, but it might help your family a bit."

Inko isn't sure how to process all of what he said but she knows it would help Izuku. And may give him a new dream since being a hero in their world is almost impossible. "What do you think honey?" She asks her son.

Izuku thinks over everything he just heard but realizes this may be his chance to achieve his dream. Even without a quirk. "I want to know more. Like Lambert-san said, I have abilities that few do. I need to learn about this power. Plus, I can help people while using this power. Right?" The other three in the room smile as he said that. "You sure can son. If you both are okay with this come to this address in a couple of days. I'll have a few things ready to train you."

William writes down an address on a slip of paper and hands it to Inko. She takes it with a bit of hesitation but knows it may just be what their whole family can use. "Thank you for this chance Lambert-san. Um is this address bus accessible?" "Yes, it is. My cell number is there too in case you get lost. Well, good evening then Midoriya-san. Izuku." William says with a laugh.

He stands to leave, and his son follows behind him but giving a wave goodbye as they leave the apartment. The Midoriya's see them out and once they've had time to calm down from all the info dropped on them, they have dinner. Katsudon of course, given it was a big day for Izuku. He also takes his time to practice with what little he learned in just the few minutes the Lambert's were teaching him.

He can still do Boltflare, but he can't use the Augerfrost spell he saw. He also practices with summoning Helinx a bit and even has him sit on his lap after dinner. Helinx even warms up to Inko and gently rubs against her. With all these happy thoughts and possibilities opened, Izuku goes to be with a smile. For later begins his path to be a seeker hero.

I know, I went with a huge info dump. But I felt this was needed given how I wanted to build up the world I made. And a bit of an fyi for those who may have missed Izuku is only seven at this point in the story. And he'll train and learn a bit more in the next seven or eight years. Also, I plan on skipping closer to the entrance exam in the next chapter or so.
