Huntik Heroes

Chapter 3

So now we are getting to the start of Izuku's training and learning to be a seeker. I'm there's gonna be a time skip to a bit before All Might meets Izuku. Don't worry I'm not gonna have Izuku have seeker powers and One For All. I've got a different plan for that. Anyhow on with the show.

The Midoriya's got ready for their trip a few days after the Lambert's came to visit them. Inko had double checked the bus schedule and the address they had provided was accessible. They would still have to walk a bit after they stopped, but it was by no means a problem. After riding for about thirty minutes, the stop the Midoriya's wanted was just outside of the city. After that, they only had to walk about five minutes till they came upon a small village like area in the hills around the town.

They were about to ask at a traditional sweets shop for directions when, "You are Midoriya Inko-sama yes? And young master Izuku?" At hearing that, the pair turned around and saw a well-dressed man in his fifties. He had gray hair and a thin mustache and well-trimmed beard.

The man bowed to them both and said, "Good day to you both. I am Shiro-san. If you will allow me, I will show you the rest of the way." Inko wasn't sure about this but she nodded. The only reason she went along was because there would be few who would know her name, especially in this small town. She was more trusting after the shop keeper greeted him warmly and she saw this Shiro-san pay for a few sweets. Some of which he gave to Izuku.

"We can share a few more up at the estate madam." They only had to walk a little further and she saw an impressive, but not imposing house. (If I need a comparison, about like Fumino's house from Bokutachi wa Benkyou.)

"If you will follow me to the living room please, master William will be with you in a moment." Shiro-san said before leaving. The Midoriya's were a bit intimidated by the size of home. Though while it was large it still felt warm. There were pictures of what they assumed were the rest of the Lambert family as well as others from various strange lands. A few hung on the walls and others on some of the bookshelves.

After a few minutes Shiro-san returned and said, "Madam and young master Midoriya. Master William and Lady Haruka are here to see you." "Shiro you don't have to do that. Sorry about the somewhat stuffy formalities of my family's aide. My family married into a pretty wealthy and influential one a few generations back. Oh. This is my wife Haruka." William said as he and a dark-haired woman entered the room.

The woman had a warm smile and a relaxed posture. She was a bit taller than Inko but not much at only five foot six. They sat across from the Midoriyas, while Shiro-san brought out tea and a few of the snacks he had purchased at the shop in town.

"So, I take it you are both ready?" Izuku nodded excitedly before saying "Yes! I want to learn more about what I can do. And how I can help people with it. I've been playing around with a few of the things you showed me the day you came. But I can't use everything even when I tried multiple times. Is some sort of…." Izuku started on a bit of a tangent, while most everyone at first had surprised reactions to his rambling spree.

Haruka was the first to come out of the surprise. And she laughed a bit at his whole reaction before saying, "Calm down child. We will explain everything." This made Izuku's rant and thoughts grind to a halt. The boy blushed profusely before apologizing. Haruka shook her head before saying, "It is quite all right. You're about the same age as Asahi and clearly quite inquisitive. But I am impressed that you took to practicing as much as you have."

"I'm not overly surprised but if you have begun to practice a bit with your abilities, then we can get started right away. Haruka do you mind helping Inko with a few of the matters involving her employment as well as helping her husband a bit. I'm just going to take Izuku to the dojo and have him practice a bit before letting him test out some titans." William said and asked his wife.

She looked up at him with a smile before saying, "of course. I'll be more than happy to help them. And maybe I can rake the bastards who are running that black company that Hisashi-san is working at under the coals." When she says that last part, she has a dark and somewhat menacing smile on her face. At that, William gets a shiver down his spine before saying, "ok. If you'll come with me Izuku, we'll get you started."

With that Inko is left with the woman. The two get better acquainted and Haruka eventually reveals that she is actually the head of the conglomerate of holdings William and his family have invested in over the years. While William isn't the head, he has contributed a bit to his family's fortune, and after he met, and later married Haruka the family's net worth expanded.

She had quite the mind for business. She mentioned she had quietly been investigating a few of the companies they were invested in, including the one Midoriya Hisashi worked at. With the greater reveal of how often he was forced to be gone, (as well as other workers who were forced to be away from their families) she stepped it up and had most of them brought up on charges within the day.

She was able to later get Hisashi transferred to an office that wouldn't force him to be away as often. Then she offered to set Inko up with a job where she may have wanted. Inko thought it over, but ultimately declined. "Right now, even if Hisashi is closer to home, I should still try to focus on giving Izuku the warm home he deserves." Haruka nodded to this and told her that if she ever changes her mind, the door would be open. While that was going on, Izuku was putting on a martial artist's gi and walking into the dojo that was behind the house.

When they got in there, he saw Asahi dodging beams from orbs floating around. And he was firing back a few energy blasts of his own. "That's enough for now son. Look who's here." The orbs stop and Asahi turns back to his father. He smiles when he sees Izuku.

He runs over and asks excitedly, "are you really gonna be learning with me?" When Izuku nods, Asahi starts bouncing around happily. He had very few friends and even fewer who he could compare with when it came to his seeker powers. So, to have a friend who was his age made him so happy.

"Alright calm down a bit son. Izuku needs to figure out a bit more of what he can do. For now, Izuku I want you to show me how well you can use the spells we showed and summon your Helinx." Izuku does that and shows how well he has gotten at just maneuvering the Boltflare orb with his thoughts.

The two more experienced seekers nod in approval, before the elder says, "Well done. You've got a good handle on what little you've seen. We'll work on a few others with time. But just know that Boltflare is one of the most versatile spells we seekers use." Izuku seems a bit confused when he says that.

Sure, the spell makes light but it isn't like it is powerful or a beam. "You were just thinking the little light that you can make isn't that impressive right? While it is a basic spell, it has a multitude of uses. As you've noticed you can use it like a light and maneuver it around. But it is also an attack. It has fire capabilities too. So the little light can light a torch or similar if you want to save power. Or it can burn or hurt a target is sent with enough force."

Izuku was floored by not only the fact that the older man knew exactly what he was thinking, but the flexibility of such a simple spell. "In many ways it isn't too different from quirks. A large number of them are frankly useless and completely unnecessary.

But some of the better heroes have learned to make their powers work well for themselves. And that application applies here as well." Izuku thought about it more and realized he was right. A few of the top heroes, All Might excluded, may not have the most impressive quirks but they make up for it with the flexibility of the techniques they employ.

"We won't work on spells right away. Most seekers learn spells from ancient texts and scrolls. Boltflare is just an easy one anyone can learn. For now, there's a little sequence of a test for seekers underneath the building. Down there, you'll face a set of challenges to give you an idea on how we do things." William reaches to his side and pushes a hidden panel. On the opposite side of the room, the wall slides to the side and a set of stairs going down are seen. Izuku is a bit frightened and asks if they could come with him.

"Normally I would say no. But you've only just begun so Asahi will go with you. He's already done this as well. And reaped the rewards of the test. Good luck Izuku." With that said the two boys go down the stairs. When it gets a bit darker Izuku lights the way with Boltflare. Before long they come to a room with a set of pedestals in the center.

Each pedestal has an amulet on it, but there is a forcefield around them. Just then a projection appears and speaks to them. "You have already been here master Asahi, but this other boy is new. I'm guessing the test is for him. What is your name?" The spectral entity states while looking at the two. Izuku is a bit flustered but answers, "Midoriya Izuku."

"Well young Midoriya, I should explain more matters with this. There are two other rooms with amulets in them, but to leave each you have to pass the tests involved (as he says that the door behind them closes). For now, your first test. I ask this question: you are in a room with the doors locked and high windows. How would you go about getting out?" Izuku thinks it over a few times. Part of him would like to say punch the door down, but he realizes that isn't what the test is about.

'Asahi-kun didn't try to attack Kaachan. He let him come at him. He wanted to see how he would react.' Izuku realizes he wasn't trying to beat him; he was trying to figure him out like a puzzle. The test is about how you go about solving a problem. "I'd look around and see if the doors or windows are loose. Then if needed break or wiggle the latches free." The specter smiles and says, "thought out on looking for the solution. The Red Searcher would be a good partner for you." With that a pedestal's field opens. On it is the green winged amulet with a jade jewel in the center.

Izuku takes it and it bonds to him. "Good job. I went with pick the locks right away as my reaction at first. That's why I have Springer. He's a master of tricks and traps and solving puzzles." When Asahi says this Izuku realizes he was correct in his guess about the function of the tests.

Once they are done the specter says he should use that amulet to find the opening to get to the next room. "Red Searcher!" Izuku shouts his and a flying red eyeball floats above him. It scans the room and spies a trick on the door. The creature points it out and Izuku pushes it.

The door then slides open and the boys press on. When they get to the next room there are another trio of pedestals in the center. The specter reappears and says, "now for your next test. An imposing figure stands before you and your goal. It will react to motion and what it deems emergencies. It also allows those it approves of past. How do you get to your goal?"

Izuku thinks for a bit before saying, "I'd get close to one side then use a titan or similar to cause a distraction. I might be able to defeat it if I had a spell or titan strong enough to beat it, but that could put the whole matter or purpose of the mission at stake. Better to just distract it and get past to the goal." The specter smiles and reveals the pedestal that fits Izuku's answer. "Jirwolf will be a good ally and friend to you especially with what you need to contend with." Then in front of the door they need to go through there is a golem like titan standing.

While intimidated, Izuku still manages to say "Jirwolf!" and the astral wolf appears. It keeps the golem busy by blinding and distracting it. With that the boys run past. Once through the other side Izuku asks Asahi what he chose. He tells Izuku that he went with causing a distraction to lure it away. Not one in the same room and far enough away to keep it busy.

"Oh, by the way you probably won't be able to summon anything more than Red Searcher once we get out of here." Izuku is confused by that and asks why. "It's part of the tests. You and I aren't actually strong enough yet to summon most titans. Small ones are easy. But bigger or combat titans are too tough for us. We are only seven after all. From what dad said the test acts as temporary booster for us. We get to see and feel what the titans we summon are capable of."

Izuku is a bit disappointed at that but realizes that it is a good point. They head on to the last room and final test that awaits. Once again, the doors close and the specter appears and gives their final question. "You are in a fight you and your team cannot get away from. But you know the goal isn't here. It is further away. But with the enemy right on top of you, you cannot let them follow you. Lest they be able to take the power themselves. What do you do?"

Izuku doesn't even hesitate at this one, "I fight and hold the rest of so my friends can either get away or can get the goal. And I will hold them long enough for them to do it." With that an amulet pedestal comes up from the ground, while spectral enemies appear around them. Izuku runs and grabs the amulet and shouts "Awaken! Caliban!" With that out of the blue light forms a warrior in gray armor with a large sword behind his back appears.

The two prepare to fight, while Asahi decides to help out for fun. "I know I passed this but want in too! As does my partner! Show them your fury! Asura!" With that a red three headed demon with gold arms appears out of a green light. With a nod the boys and the titans engage the ghostly beings. The titans attacking with fists and blade, while the boys use blasts. Izuku even learns from Asahi how to do Touchram after he explains it. Asahi also uses Armorbrand to protect the two when necessary.

With the tests passed, the boys head up the stairs again and meet back up with William. He smiles when he sees that they are both fine. And Izuku now has three new partners. "Well done. You got a taste of what it means to be a seeker. You've also seen that accomplishing the mission doesn't involve winning a battle. Often times ancient secrets can be more valuable than any titan or relic could be. You won't be able to use those for a while, but they are still bonded to you. For now, well practice a little hand to hand and some spell casting." With that done the boys spend the rest of the day practicing with William. At the end of the day, the Midoriya's stay long enough for dinner. Even getting a phone call out to Hisashi so his wife and son can talk to him.

Over the next seven years Izuku learns much from the Lamberts. Aside from a handful of spells, he has also gone on a mission or two and recovered titans. He even bonded with a powerful Litho titan. Though he can't use it yet. Asahi becomes the best friend he could have hoped for. One who even sees what he is hoping to do as a hero. Even if he isn't sure if he wants to take the hero course way.

For the rest of the Midoriya family, Hisashi was able to spend more time with his family and eventually got to a management position due to his work ethic and fair management of his subordinates. Inko hadn't taken up the offer to work herself, but she was happier and healthier than ever thanks to her new friends, and they help they had given her whole family. When it came time for Izuku to look a high school there was only one place he had in mind. He was going to UA.

This took a little longer to make than I thought but I'm at least glad with how it turned out. I intend to toss in a few flashbacks for specific titans and bonding with them for Izuku and Asahi too. I'm also planning on them going on a mission themselves with some idiots tagging along making everything harder. But they would still get it done. Review if you like it.
