Huntik Heroes
Chapter 4
Now we get into more of the story proper. As I said this will be around the time All Might first meets Izuku. But certain matters will play out differently. Also don't assume that Asahi and Izuku won't be going to school. Lok and Sophie were still attending the academy in Venice until the second season. So there won't be a problem for this either. Now. On with the show.
(Izuku POV)
Katsuki and the others in my class may have tried to put me down for not having a quirk today (the teacher should really think through what he says during class), but I showed in more than one way that their quirks even one like Katsuki's isn't as impressive as he likes to believe. When he tried to take a swing, I just used a little Farslip at his foot and it sent him spiraling.
They all just think it is just bad luck that these things keep happening when someone tries to mess with me. But it is enough to get a lot of them off my back. Katsuki didn't even try to mess with me after class. He shouted his usual nonsense and walked out. Asahi doesn't attend our school so I'm mostly still alone. Though there are two others who have been at least actual acquaintance.
Namely the boy that Katsuki and the others were trying to attack the day I met Asahi. His name is Otarou, and he does find what I have learned about parts of the world interesting. Since his quirk isn't too impressive, just an ability to generate light, he doesn't plan to be a hero. In fact, he is looking to other things away from heroes.
I know that I have already been a hero, given a few of the missions I have been on and some of the people I have helped. But I don't want to hide what I can do. Asahi has thought about that same thing. He agrees that we could be great heroes and that our powers wouldn't be that uncommon in this world of quirks. Besides, if what mister William said is true, then the blood spirals may be both making a move soon and have allies in the villains.
"Well now a medium sized invisibility cloak." I hear that as I am going through a tunnel on my way home. A mass of sludge and grime comes out of the drainpipe. Old me might have been scared and run or freeze up. The current me is still thinking about running but I also know that I can take him. "Armorbrand!" I shout as the shield forms around me.
With that stopped I pull out a titan and call out "Take control, Dendras!" At that a being wearing a golden mask and manipulating two dragon puppets appears next to me. "Dendras only use the ice dragon. We'll stop him in his tracks. Augerfrost!" As I give my instructions, I also fire off a few freezing shots to stop the mass of slime. It doesn't take long before the villain can't move.
"There is no need to worry! Because: I AM HERE! Halt villain, and he is already halted." I can't believe it! All Might right here!? In person? I guess he was chasing this guy when he tried to jump me. "I have to admit young man, you handled yourself well. And you captured a villain that had gotten away from me. Though I will give you a warning about using your quirk in public, and what the heck is that thing."
Oh crap. Bad enough I caught the villain by using my spells and titans. But both him and All Might have seen Dendras. "Um can you wait a second All Might. Hopefully I can do this right. First things first though. "Dendras return." At hearing that and seeing Dendras disappear into an amulet, All Might starts to question how this pokemon like scene is possible.
"I might be willing to explain in a minute. But first I need to handle this guy." I place my hand about where I think his head is and say "Simplemind." At that the villain's eyes go slack, and he seems confused. All Might is more concerned and confused by what is going on but regains himself enough to call in the police to take away the creature.
After they have, he asks me to wait and to maybe explain what is going on before trying to erase his memory. I agree but tell him we have to go somewhere where others won't notice us. He then grabs me and leaps into the air. I have felt this type of floating feeling before, but I is usually my own leaps with Hyperstride. As we are coming to a rooftop he is wanting to land at, I use Featherdrop and we float down gently. "That is quite the interesting ability you have. It reminds me of a fellow I met a few years ago. He ended up saving me and helping me fight back against an enemy that was truly dangerous." I'm a bit surprised at that but I push it aside for now and get out my Holotome.
I make a call to mister William and introduce him to All Might. "Ah yes. Zaeed told me about you. The two of you fought quite the dangerous entity a while back." I'm of course floored by this. Zaeed Vale was one of the best seekers of my generation. I didn't realize that he fought and saved All Might. The stunned face of All Might is more surprising.
After a few seconds mister William brings us both back by saying that All Might more than likely saw me using my seeker skills and I wanted himself and All Might to talk before erasing his memory. "A few of us in the Huntik Foundation had been thinking that we can't keep avoiding the so-called hero community for much longer. If we've at least got him in our corner more, it might help us in the long run."
All Might seems indignant at the 'so-called' comment. That is until he begins to explain to All Might what the foundation is and what it is we are and what we can do and have done for millennia. At hearing all of this, All Might has to sit down. "And those of us who have powers think we are heroes. We really are jokes. Me especially. There have been heroes longer than any quirk, both powered and non-powered. I guess I've forgotten that after being at the top for so long."
He takes a moment and gathers himself. He then says to mister William, "If you need help with trying to get the authorities off your backs, I'm more than happy to help. I owe you more than I can imagine. One of your best saved me from a grievous injury or possible death. And you all have been protecting the world longer than I have been alive. I could even get in contact with both the Hero commissioner and a few others to see if we can't help you in protecting certain areas."
"That doesn't sound too bad, but mostly the meeting the commissioner part. As for the protecting areas, its better if they don't get near them. Most everyone with a quirk is so weak willed and minded that they could be easily influenced by aspects of what we need protected." All Might isn't sure what to say at the weak-minded part, but he agrees.
After all that is said and done, mister William tells me to come to the dojo later. There is apparently a new seeker he wants to introduce me to. But once I have hung up, I decide to ask All Might a question that had been a thought of mine from before I found out about my seeker abilities. "Can a person be a hero without a quirk or powers?"
All Might sighs before he admits something, "I may have thought no at one point in my life. But really, I have remembered that a hero isn't or rather shouldn't be defined by their power. Many heroes exist in places where power is pointless. A quirk may be helpful in a hospital or surgery, but many times it could get in the way. The police and first responders to a crisis are also heroes in their own right. They just get disrespected because everyone likes to think quirks are the greatest thing ever. But I know that a person can be a hero without a quirk. You just need to be willing to look in those places and see it for yourself." His own humbling admission and the fact he gave respect to others more than himself inspired me more.
I will take the UA entrance exam and show more of the possibilities that are out there. Hopefully Asahi will join me, and we can be heroes together. With that done and All Might giving me lift to the Lamberts home I'm ready to talk about it with Asahi and mister William. "Uncle Might?" I hear someone say. Both All Might and myself turn to see a girl a bit older and taller than me with blonde hair and blue eyes.
"Melissa?! What are you doing here?" I guess All Might knows her. Probably from his time in the states. "I was analyzing a strange necklace that some fortune teller had given me when I activated it. A woman came later and told me that I had unlocked powers I didn't think were possible." She went on to explain that she had gotten her first amulet from some sort of traveling fortune teller that was allowed on I-Island for little more than the novelty. She played along and they said she had a greater destiny than she knew and gave her the amulet.
She later discovered her powers by chance when there was an accident in the lab she was working in. "I heard it call out to me and I said Januseea and well. I'll just show you. Open the doorway between dimensions! Januseea the Gatekeeper!" At that a female titan with tribal armor appeared, floating in the air with blue orbs around her. All Might was again floored by what he was seeing. I was just impressed at how well she handled her first titan. Januseea's were not easy titans to use.
"After I summoned her, she teleported everyone out when I just thought it. I don't know exactly what is going on but that woman who told me to come here said they would explain a much and could help me learn what I can do." All Might is still a bit confused, so I snap him out of it with a Boltflare to his butt. "OW! What was that for!?" "You needed to snap out of it. So I improvised."
I tell him before saying we can go in and Melissa Shield (who told me her full name. Didn't expect to ever see a legend like her or her father) is given the run down that All Might had been told and that I had heard multiple times. Once the expository is done again, mister William asks me and Asahi to show her to the dojo and take her through the tests. We both nod and ask her to follow us. She seems unsure about the tests part of what he said but we both assure her she will be fine.
"All Might and I should discuss a few more matters before we can set up some meeting with the heroes and the like. Don't worry Melissa. You will be fine." With that we take her out to the dojo so she can learn more about being a seeker.

After all three teens change into workout or training gi's, they head to the dojo. Asahi and Izuku demonstrate a few basic spells for Melissa, and she attempts as well. She doesn't have much trouble using Honorguard and Boltflare. She even picks up Augerfrost. But she can't get the hang of healing or recovery spells like Everfight. That is when the boys figure she is more than ready to try the tests under the dojo. Once the three have gone down the steps the specter appears again. "You two are here once again? Ah but there is a new seeker here. Well young lady, I hope you are ready for the tests that await you."
As he says this the door closes behind the boys. Melissa is a bit concerned, but when she sees how calm the other two are, she realizes there is nothing wrong. With that out of the way the specter gives her the run-down of the tests and gives her the first question. "You are in a room with the doors locked and high windows. How would you go about getting out?" Melissa thinks about it a bit before saying, "This place must have weak points or maybe a gap that these two have gone through before. If I can find that I could open a new path."
With that the specter nods and says, "Silver Hunter would be a good partner for you to find this opening or path." With the barrier to one of pillars released, Melissa walks up and takes the silver and white amulet and calls out, "Find the way! Silver Hunter!" Out of the blue light a large silver haired wolf appears. It sniffs around a bit and finds where the other two had solved the puzzle before. With that she also pushes the point that opens the door.
The next room the large figure is once again in front of the trio. So the specter poses its question: "An imposing figure stands before you and your goal. It will react to motion and what it deems emergencies. It also allows those it approves of past. How do you get to your goal?" When she notices that he said 'it allows those it approves of past' she notes that is her way in.
"I'd try to pass off that I was its fellow guard or perhaps someone who has come through before. Better to not fight and make sure that the guard isn't removed so someone may know something is up." With a nod the pillar reveals an amulet with a mask like appearance in blue and silver. "Shifter is a crafty titan. He can help you pass by unseen by your foes." With that she calls forth Shifter and takes on the form of William. She walks up to the large being and it steps aside. The door opens and they all pass on to the final trail.
They enter the large room with spectral enemies again. The boys note that there are more than both of the times they came through. "I know both of you want the chance to fight with your favorite combat partners as well. So I created a few extra opponents." At this Melissa gives them both a bit of a stink eye before saying, "Thanks a lot now it'll just be harder."
To this the specter chuckles before saying, "don't worry about them. They can handle themselves. For now, you have your final question to answer. And it is this: You are in a fight you and your team cannot get away from. But you know the goal isn't here. It is further away. But with the enemy right on top of you, you cannot let them follow you. Lest they be able to take the power themselves. What do you do?"
Melissa thinks it over before saying, "I would put my faith in my teammates. I may not be much of a fighter right now, but if the goal is further ahead then there is no point to extra fighting and exhausting all of us. I would leave something strong enough or that would help them fight back against the enemy and try to end the fight from behind the scenes."
And with a nod, the last pillar shows a silver and blue amulet with six protrusions from the back. After Melissa bonds with it she calls out, "Fight for your lady! Kilthane!" After the imposing black knight with a kite shield and sword appears the other two seekers chuckle. And Asahi says, "no way I'm letting you have all the fun. Let's go, Asura!" and his favorite combat titan appears. "I'm with you there my friend! Come out and play, Caliban!" Izuku calls out and the impressive Meso titan warrior appears.
The titans engage a few of the ghostly enemies as do the boys. Then both may want to help Melissa, but they know she has to do as much of this herself. She handles the battle pretty well. Her Kilthane covers her from some attacks from the back and she manages to blast away a fair number of the ghosts herself.
With the battle and thus the trails done, all three return their titans and head back up. Once back in the dojo proper, Asahi explains that she may not be able to use all of her titans that she could down below. "Certain titans are easy to invoke. Others require more experience and effort. I think the only one you may have trouble with might be Silver Hunter. It may have been the opening titan, but it is still a powerful tracking titan as well. Kilthane though won't be a problem. But for now, I say we practice what you have learned and begun to understand."
With that the two more experience seekers get ready and prepare to spar with Melissa. She is a bit nervous at first but adjusts into a stance of her own. The three practice for a few hours before they call it a day. William offers to let Melissa stay at their home so she can practice, but All Might instead offers to let his 'niece' stay with him and he can bring her up for a few lessons each day. With all that done and Melissa talking with her father about some of what has happened they all prepare for whatever may come in the next year.
