Rin couldn't believe it. He was going on a mission. He didn't quite know what to feel. On the one hand, he got to actually go outside and leave the crazy building that had oppressed him. But it could be somewhat of a problem.

The problem being his own old man.

He knew Angel had been trying to introduce him to his father without knowing that they knew each other intimately. So, he was mildly panicking in his room with Metatron trying to console him and Haniel trying to calm him down, or go through his closet, it was kind of hard to tell.

"He's trying to get Shiro to come along and if he sees me it's going to be pure chaos," Rin moaned.

"Rin, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but maybe you it's time to tell him something."

"You really believe that?" Rin questioned dryly. Metatron shrugged his shoulders.

"Honestly, I have no idea. But God does work in mysterious ways. It could be that it's time to tell him."

"Nope."

"Nope?"

"I'm fighting this until the very end," Rin commented and pulled himself off the bed and walked over towards Haniel who was adding clothes that he had picked up from who knew exactly where. A certain smile on his face, as angelic as ever but most likely knowing it bring up questions.

"Haniel, why have you filled my closet with so many clothes? Not that I mind, it's better than what they normally make me wear," Rin muttered.

"Oh Rin. There is beauty everywhere. And while I can't get the clothes and wear them, you can and enjoy it as well."

Rin gazed at the new clothes and felt an idea pop into his mind.

"Hey Haniel? Could you get a mask for me? And a hoodie? Something that won't come off my head when I'm in a physical situation?"

Haniel's eyes sparkled with great joy.

"Oh Rin! I will find something positively lovely to match your personality."

Haniel's wings fluffed with joy and he soared out of the room with a mission of beauty in mind.

"A mask Rin? Really?"

"Hey. I can't let Shiro know who I am. Besides, it should only be temporary. Just until I can find a way to escape," Rin muttered to himself.

"Oh Rin, everything will work out. One way or another. You are a devout son of God. Life may be hard, but you are not alone."

"But is it even enough? Even if I do have people, is it any good if I can't see them or help them," he added, his tone becoming more morose.

"No one is ever too far to help-"

"Is that really true?"

Rin stared at his guardian angel with repressed emotions forcing their way out of the depths of his heart that he had been hiding to try and appear strong for everyone including himself.

He felt warm arms wrap around him, along with the familiar feathered wings. A strong hand carded through his hair making him feel safe and warm. Rin wrapped his arms around Metatron and felt a rare pricking of tears in his eyes. He heard the quiet shushing from the archangel as he was held, and let his tears cascade down his cheeks and soak into Metatron's shirt.

He felt himself slowly relax as the stress built up had finally had a release.

"It's okay Rin. I know it's hard, and it probably hurts being forced into this situation, but it will be okay. You will see little angel."

Rin hiccupped and gave a little laugh, "I thought I was a little devil."

"Only when you're raising hell. Not when you're raising others up."

Rin didn't say anything more, just allowed the strange and no doubt hormone driven wave of guilt and sadness to wash over and out of him. He didn't say it, but wanting to hide from Shiro was means to protecting Shiro. A man who had raised him when his job was to kill him and his brother. A man who had done everything he could do give him a normal and happy life. How heartbroken would he be if he learned that it was all for not? That Rin was already an exorcist and caught up in a world that would not hesitate to kill him if the truth got out?

What of the angels? If Shiro learned he knew about the demons, how much harder would it be to hide that he also saw angelic beings, both good and bad?

Not to mention if he found out now, the chaos for all involved in his containment. Perhaps going to True Cross wouldn't have been such a bad choice. Hell, had he not have been summoned there before and not have met Samael, he may have had regrets not going there. But he was with the Vatican, and it was the best-worst option he had.

"Don't get trapped in your head Rin. Thinking isn't exactly your strong suit," Metatron chuckled. Rin lightly punched the archangel.

"Shut up," Rin responded, his voice muffled in Metatron's shirt.

"Rin! I found the perfect-Aw! Are you two having a cuddle session?" Haniel cooed, surprising both Rin and Metatron. The two jumped at the reappearance of Haniel, as he carried a bag in his arms and a smile on his face. "Don't worry. I won't tell."

"It's not what you think- Is that what I asked for?"

"Yeup! Metatron let go of Rin so he can see his field outfit!" Haniel whined. Metatron huffed and let go of Rin. Rin rushed forward to the blond angel and eagerly took the bag. Inside was a faded and soft grey-blue coat with a large hood, and sinched wrists to keep the fabric from interfering with whatever sword he used.

"Nice," Rin commented as he put the coat on. The fabric was surprsingly cool against his skin, and the hood fell gently over his head, covering his forehead.

"He looks like he's swimming in it," Metatron muttered. Haniel jabbed him in the gut at the comment. As Metatron bent over in pain Haniel handed Rin a white box.

"In here is your mask."

Rin eagerly took the box and opened the package. He paused, staring into the container in curiosity. Inside was a full face mask, depicting the face of a woman in design, painted a pale, neutral biege with whisps of pale blue and white across the nose and cheek portion. The eyes had what looked like thick, smoky glass to hide the eyes. Rin looked at Haniel dubiously before sliding it on.

Despite the glass, it was remarkably easy to see out of. He looked around the room, acknowledging the clarity.

"Did you have to make me look like a girl?" He bluntly asked the beauty driven angel. He wasn't mad. Just curious.

"Rin, you're confident enough to make it work. I just know it," Haniel winked.

"I know!" Rin dramatically replied.

Bottled up emotions can spill up unexpectedly at any time. I know personally from sudden bouts of water works as my brain reminds me of something I tried not to think about. And since Rin has been so strong with all the shit going down, I figured it was time for human emotion to get the better of him.
