Akame Ga Kill: Kill the Second Chance.
Quick Note – In the previous chapter, I said that I was going to reveal the next four people who will receive their spirits after I come up with names for the said spirits and I did; I came up with the names and I like them. If anyone has forgotten, the four people who are going to get their spirits will be in Night Raid before I get to the Jaegers. I'm pretty much doing the same thing in the original version by starting on the good side before I get to the bad side, which the bad side won't be bad at all once they finally learn the truth about the Capital.
Here are the next four people to receive their spirits:
Najenda's spirit will be a wolf, which will be named Mamoru. The spirit's ability can let her summon spiritual animals – bulls, tigers, owls, sharks and much more – that are powerful and strong during night time, while giving her incredible reflexes to dodge attacks. The spirit can also increase Najenda's speed and give her night vision, along with hearing, in case she's being followed by the enemy or a Danger-Beast. Unlike the first four necklaces, Najenda's necklace can only be used during night time. If she tries using it during day time, she will hurt the spirit and it will take time to heal before she can use the spirit.
Spear's spirit will be a saber tooth tiger, which will be named Avyanna. The spirit's ability gives her incredible speed, reflexes and agility, making her almost impossible to keep track of during a battle, while increasing her attack powers to the point she can cut through anything like thick skin. The spirit can also make Spear's body very durable, which will make any weapons, sharp points or bullets hard to pierce through. Spear can use the necklace whenever she wants, but she has to make sure she recharges it once she's done using the power, otherwise she won't be able to use the spirit again. The only way to recharge the necklace is by placing it in direct sunlight.
Sheele's spirit will be a panda, which will be named Alexis. The spirit's ability allows her to summon barriers to protect her friends or fellow soldiers from explosions, bullets, arrows, poison mist, fires and anything else, while increasing her strength and Teigu's trump card. The spirit can also make Sheele's body durable, but not as much like Spear's since pandas are protecters, not fighters. Once she's done using the power, Sheele has to recharge the necklace by placing it outside in a forest region. Placing the necklace in a different region will not recharge it at all.
Chelsea's spirit will be a fox, which will be named Medea. The spirit's ability gives her new choices for her Teigu, Gaea Foundation, increasing her time limit whenever she transforms into a person or animal and allowing her to make quick thinking decisions if she sense an enemy coming, along with masking her presence completely. The spirit can also let Chelsea summon cards to defend herself from guns and weapons, while giving her incredible reflexes and stamina. Like Spear, Chelsea can the necklace whenever she wants, but she has to recharge it once she's done using the power. The only way to recharge the necklace is by placing it inside Gaea Foundation.
Alright, that is the next four spirits of what Najenda, Spear, Sheele and Chelsea are going to use throughout the story. I don't know the next four people who will receive their spirits since I have long forgotten about them, but once I go back into my saved chapters, then I'll write the next four people in the next chapter.
One last thing before we head into the chapter, this said chapter is not a part chapter but a full one. I've decided to try writing full chapters again since I saw the complaints about me writing part chapters. I know you guys don't like the part chapters, but I like doing this because it keeps the story alive and lets me work on other chapters. I'm not letting the complaints get to me since I don't care about them and usually ignore them, I'm just saying a fact why I like doing part chapters instead of doing full chapters. If you don't like the part chapters, then don't read the story. This is something for others to enjoy reading, not something to criticize or hate.
Anyways, here is a new chapter for you guys to enjoy and without further ado, let's get on with the chapter!
Enjoy the chapter.
Chapter Five: Back at The Capital Again (Finale)
Previously in the last chapter.
However, the moment when Tatsumi said he loved hunting in his village, Leone instantly stopped chuckling and began silently cursing herself for being stupid. Why would she ask that question when she knew full well, despite not knowing at the time, it was leading towards the most important question in the world? It was too Early to ask the important question. She wanted Tatsumi to be more comfortable with her presence before asking the Tyrant question. That way, he won't act suspicious, surprised or wary; he will be peacefully comfortable and will reply to Leone's Tyrant question without hesitation.
Then, depending on Tatsumi's answer, the date will go on either happily or terribly for the rest of the day and the two adults will either see each other again to go on more dates, which would later make them a future couple, or never will if they don't like each other's presence.
Either way, Leone had full confidence Tatsumi would reply to her Tyrant question once he was comfortable with her presence.
If only Leone knew Tatsumi was never going to answer honestly to the Tyrant question once she asks him that.
(In the Present)
"Leone, are you okay?" Tatsumi asked, starting to become concerned after seeing Leone had stopped chuckling and became worryingly silent. He had been startled when she, Leone, started giggling, which later turned into chuckling, for some reason and wondered why, despite the fact he could investigate her mind with his mind reading ability. "You stopped chuckling and became silent. Did I say something funny after listing out my hobbies?"
"No, no, everything's fine, Tatsumi," Leone quickly reassured Tatsumi after realizing she had been silent and lost in her thoughts. She needs to stop doing both because it will bite her in the ass and could blow her cover. "I was just surprised by the…" Here, Leone trailed off, unsure what to say. It was either come clean with the truth or come up with something different. Luckily for her, she came up with something different and that was the cooking hobby Tatsumi mentioned a couple moments ago. "Cooking hobby. I was surprised you like cooking since many men I've met in bars only like doing manly things, not girly things like cooking."
While Tatsumi wasn't totally convinced at what Leone said, given the concerned, along with skeptical, look on his face, which made her nervous and internally sweat a little, he was going to let the matter slide, but only to make Leone comfortable since he didn't want her first date to become terrible. However, if Tatsumi doesn't receive a proper answer if Leone becomes quiet again, then he was going to force the said answer out of her.
Leone may not know this, but every question she asked made Tatsumi slightly suspicious, which the feeling had increased whenever she becomes silent after he replies to the questions. He can tell she was thinking about the replies he said in her head, whether it was good or bad, but he doesn't know what the busty blonde was thinking, despite the fact Tatsumi could, as he thought a moment ago, investigate her mind with his mind reading ability.
But Tatsumi wasn't going to read Leone's mind because he wanted to figure out why she was being silent for too long on his own without relying on his mind reading ability. Doing so will only complicate things and he might not be able to join Night Raid.
Pushing the mind reading ability aside, Tatsumi got back to the topic on hand in his mind, which was the questions he had replied to. Why did the questioning of his life sounded like an interrogation when it should be a simple get to know you? It didn't make sense at all, but Tatsumi won't know unless he asks his own questions. However, he still needed to deal with the cooking hobby statement Leone said before he can ask questions and luckily for him, he came up with an explanation.
"Your reaction about my cooking hobby is quite understandable, Leone," Tatsumi said, breaking the silence that had erupted between him and an uncomfortable Leone, who had been getting extremely worried and paranoid. She thought she had blown her cover when Tatsumi remained silent, only to release a mental sigh of relief when he bought the cooking hobby excuse. "Many men considered the hobby, as you said, girly because they would have to wear an apron when cooking and they would look silly."
"But not you, right?" Leone asked, hoping to stay on this topic so that it could lead the suspicion about her being silent away. "You like cooking and don't care if you wear an apron?"
"I do, I have always been fascinated with the art of cooking when I was young and wanted to try it but couldn't since I wasn't old enough to use the stove. Once I was old enough to use the stove, however, I started cooking."
Tatsumi smiled fondly as he remembered the times he cooked lots of food whenever there was a big gathering in his village or birthday parties. He had to start out small at first because there weren't many ingredients in the village, regardless of getting enough money to buy said ingredients after raiding Imperial hideouts. He couldn't just leave his village unprotected with no weapons. But after becoming of age and gaining the teleport ability, Tatsumi began cooking big; he made the same dishes Sayo and Akame taught him from the old timeline, created his own dishes and experimented with other ingredients to see what dishes he could make.
If Tatsumi hadn't been plunged into the dark truth of the Capital and focused more on his cooking skills, he could've run a restaurant in the old timeline and saved a lot of money to help his village. But if he did that, then everything he did in the old timeline would never happen at all, except being a casualty in the final battle between the Empire and the Revolutionary Army.
Leone, seeing the fond smile on Tatsumi's face, couldn't help but smile as well. She can tell he was thinking about the times he cooked food in his village, either for parties or himself, and it apparently must be great memories to think about since Tatsumi's already very bright eyes would shine more brightly than before, causing a pleasurable tingle to run down Leone's body. She couldn't help it; those emerald-green eyes were so beautiful and alluring that she could stare into them for all eternity.
However, while Leone may be smiling at the fond smile on Tatsumi's face on the outside, she was smiling sadly at the emerald-green eyes that were bright and full of life on the inside. How long will it be until the brightness and life in those eyes disappear once he, Tatsumi, finds out about the Capital being a heavily corrupted place instead of a place where dreams come true? Will terror and horror be in its place or disbelief and denial?
Leone might never know Tatsumi's reaction, but she hoped he at least is an open mind person when the dark truth is revealed, unlike other country people who have narrow minds about the Capital being a place where dreams come true. They will no doubt profusely deny the claims and call anyone who knows the truth about the Capital liars.
'Liars, huh?' Leone thought with an inward scoff. 'Why would we, the people who knows the truth about the Capital, lie about something so serious? We are trying to make you see reason, country people, so you won't get killed or kidnapped by the very cruel people in the Capital. But instead, you don't listen to our explanation, ignore our warnings and do exactly what I mentioned: Get killed or kidnapped.' Leone then mentally sighs from what she was thinking. 'Oh, why am I thinking about this topic in my head to begin with when I should be focusing on asking the Tyrant question? It only gave me a headache.'
Since Tatsumi and Leone had been lost in their thoughts, they did not realize their forgotten food had become cold, forcing them to call in a male waiter and have him replace the cold food with warm, yet new, food. He also brought in a rather expensive wine that was free of charge and a couple of desserts, including ice cream. When Tatsumi and Leone asked the waiter about the wine being free of charge, he explained there was a free policy whenever people manage to get a reservation in the private rooms.
After getting over the momentary confusion about the wine being free of charge, Tatsumi and Leone decided to put their conversation on hold and focused on eating their food again, as well as trying out the wine and desserts. Like the food, the wine and desserts taste great and delicious.
For the next few minutes, there was silence between Tatsumi and Leone as they focused on eating their recently reordered food, while drinking the expensive wine and trying out the desserts. Normally, Tatsumi wouldn't drink alcohol since he was a bit underage and won't be turning eighteen in a few months, but thanks to his Danger-Beast powers, he can drink alcohol whenever he wants without worrying about getting drunk or passing out.
"Man, I am stuffed," Tatsumi said moments later, leaning back in his chair and letting out a satisfied sigh, his stomach full of food. He can't take another bite of the delicious, otherwise he's going to explode. But one thing was certain, he was planning on coming back to this bar sometime in the future for peace and quiet.
"Me too, Tatsumi," Leone agreed, also leaning back in her chair but letting out a loud belch. "I don't think I can eat another bite. If I do, I might gain some weight and lose my sexy looks." It was true, she could very well gain weight if she took another bite, which would cause her to do serious training to lose said weight. Leone will always make sure she stays fit and beautiful.
Other than nodding his head in understanding, Tatsumi didn't dare say anything else. He does not have a death wish from bringing up Leone's most sensitive subject: Her weight. Just thinking about it was enough to make a small shiver run down the brown-hair assassin's spine. The only time Leone's weight had been mentioned was back in the old timeline when Akame explained stoically about a weight difference between her and the busty blonde during a training session, which earned the raven-hair beauty a sucker punch to the head.
Since then, everyone in Night Raid, especially Lubbock and Akame, knew better than to bring up Leone's weight, especially in front of said person who would no doubt become extremely pissed and lash out with raised fists. She can be scary when she's angry.
"Well, I supposed I better get going," Tatsumi stated, getting up from his seat, while wanting to forget about Leone's sensitive subject. "It's getting quite late, and I need to find a place to reside in since I got kicked out of the inn I stayed at when I first entered the Capital. I also need to find my friend."
"Wait, you're leaving already, Tatsumi?" Leone asked, standing up from her seat as well but gaining a panicked expression on her face. "We just barely got to know each other." 'Except you told me about your homelife and hobbies, which the former still being suspicious to me.'
"I know and I want to know much about you as well, Leone, but I really need to find my friend. Like me, she's new to the Capital and doesn't know this place. I spent three days looking for her to see if she had arrived, but I haven't found her and I'm starting to get worried."
Despite already knowing where Sayo was, Tatsumi was worried about her. While he was busy taking down criminals and helping people in the Capital, the dark-hair girl was being tortured by that horrible family and probably unconscious from screaming so much. He couldn't wait to get there and kill every signal person mercilessly and brutally for torturing his friend; Tatsumi will make them pay. He was so focused on killing the noble family he did not realize his emerald-green eyes changed into crimson-red with the pupils becoming cross-eye, nor the fact he was in the room with the assassin he'd sensed a few hours ago.
Leone wanted to tell Tatsumi about his friend already being dead to begin with but couldn't form a single word at all after seeing his eyes changing into crimson-red with the pupils becoming cross-eye, greatly shocking her to the core and making her face become white as a ghost. There was no mistaking about those eyes; they belonged to a very dangerous Danger-Beast and that was a Tyrant. To see the exact same eye color on Tatsumi proved Leone's suspicions about him fusing with a Tyrant instead of having the scent on him, which makes him a half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid.
However, just because Leone's suspicions about Tatsumi being a half human/half Danger-Beast were true, it didn't mean she was accepting it easily. In fact, she was having a hard time believing what she had seen and learned, causing her to have a mental conversation in her mind.
'It can't be true…' Leone thought, still shocked from what she just seen and learned. 'It just can't be true. What I saw and learned couldn't be real at all. There's no way Tatsumi, the man I'm starting to fall for, has fused with the most dangerous Danger-Beast in the whole world. It's impossible; my eyes and thoughts must be playing tricks on me.' Leone so wanted to believe everything she thought of, especially the last one, with all her heart, but seeing the crimson-red crossed-pupil eyes made her realize, even if she didn't want to believe it, the dreaded truth: Tatsumi is a half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid with the power of Tyrant inside him, officially making him an enemy for Night Raid to take out.
The thought of taking out Tatsumi caused tears to appear in Leone's eyes. Why did this have to happen to her? Why did she have to take out a potential mate who had done nothing wrong, except fusing with a Tyrant? It's not fair. Leone has finally gotten the chance to be with someone who would love her, comfort her, understand her and care for her, only for that chance to completely vanish after seeing Tatsumi's eyes changing into a different color. Why can't she find a person to be with?
With the reality of taking out Tatsumi because he has fused with a Tyrant and her emotions running high, Leone couldn't stop the choked sob leaving her mouth, which finally broke Tatsumi's thoughts about killing the noble family, making his eyes turn to its normal emerald-green color.
"Leone, what's the matter?" Tatsumi asked, growing quickly alarmed at the sight of tears in Leone's golden eyes. That's the second time in a row she started crying and it was making the brown-hair assassin slightly uncomfortable. Don't get him wrong, Tatsumi is concerned about Leone's strange behavior, but it's just that he's not used to see the busty cheerful blonde crying since she's always, well, cheerful, except during the time when Sheele got killed. "Why are you crying?"
Leone didn't respond to the question as she was busy thinking about the fact she had to report what she learned and saw to Night Raid who would try to locate Tatsumi in the Capital and take him out. She didn't like what she had to do, but unless she can try to persuade her fellow assassins without sounding like she was falling for Tatsumi, which she is, there's nothing Leone can do.
Since this was probably going to be the last time Leone sees Tatsumi alive, she decided to ask him one more question, a question she wanted to know ever since the date started. "Why did you fuse with a Tyrant, Tatsumi?"
Tatsumi's reaction was exactly what Leone predicted earlier before she started the conversation. An expression of pure shock appeared on his face and his body completely froze as if he had been caught with his hand in a cookie jar. If the situation wasn't very serious, the busty blonde would've laughed uproariously at the look on Tatsumi's face, but all she felt at the moment was hollow and sadness.
'HOW THE HELL DID LEONE KNOW I FUSED WITH A TYRANT THIS EARLY IN THE TIMELINE?!' Tatsumi thought, stunned beyond belief at what Leone asked him. He had not expected that question at all. 'I MADE SURE TO CONCEAL MY PRESENCE COMPLETELY WHEN I ENTERED THE CAPITAL AND WALKED AROUND THE STREETS SO THAT NONE OF THE IMPERIAL ARMY COULD SENSE WHAT I AM! NO ONE SHOULD SENSE ME!' It was true, Tatsumi had completely concealed his presence when he entered the Capital and always kept it that way to make sure none of the Imperial Army could sense him being a half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid. 'BUT THAT STILL DOESN'T ANSWER MY QUESTION! HOW DOES LEONE KNOW I FUSED WITH A TYRANT?!'
"Leone, why on Earth would you think I have fused with a Tyrant?" Tatsumi demanded, quickly getting out of his pure shocked state and staring fiercely at Leone, making her flinch. While a small part of him felt guilty for doing that, the large part crushed the feeling; he needed answers and needed them now. "What possessed you to even ask me that question? Answer honestly or I'll do something I might regret."
If Leone thought the fierce stare was intimidating, it was nothing compared to the threat Tatsumi said and it scared her. She doesn't know if she can beat him in a fist fight, but she has no intention of doing that; she could get killed or be taken in and questioned by the Imperial Army! The only thing Leone can do is answer Tatsumi's questions honestly. "It's because you have the scent all over your body, Tatsumi, which I caught when you entered the Capital, and I saw your eyes become the exact same crimson-red all Tyrants have with the pupils becoming cross-eye."
Tatsumi's body once again became frozen after hearing the first part of the reply. The scent was the reason why Leone knew about him being a half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid? And she sensed it when he entered the Capital? That's absolutely impossible; he had just said in his mind no one could sense what he was since he concealed his presence completely when he first entered the Capital and walked around the streets. No one should sense what Tatsumi was at all, even if they have great senses.
But for some reason, Leone managed to sense what Tatsumi was without any trouble, and it was greatly scaring him for the first time in his life. He hated this feeling, the scared one, but he couldn't help it. His secret was out this early in the timeline and he hadn't even joined Night Raid yet. How was Tatsumi going to join now when Leone already knew about his secret? More importantly, how did she sense the Tyrant scent when he, Tatsumi, concealed his presence? Did she have an item on her or something?
As soon as Tatsumi thought of that very last question, the answer he wanted to know popped into his head like a lost forgotten memory, making his eyes widen in realization. How could he be so fucking dumb and blind? Leone does have an item on her, and it's because of this said item she sensed Tatsumi being a half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid. That's right, the item was Leone's Teigu, Lionelle.
'I should've known,' Tatsumi thought with a mental facepalm, greatly embarrassed he didn't think about Leone's Teigu. 'Lionelle is only explanation on how Leone sensed me being me a half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid, which makes her the assassin I sensed a few hours ago. The Teigu so strong and powerful that it can greatly increase the five senses every human being has, almost making them an animal. It's like the ultimate fusion Teigu, except it's not because you have to overused it in order to fused with the Danger-Beast inside.'
Thinking about overusing a Teigu reminded Tatsumi about overusing Incursio in the old timeline. Although it brought painful memories, it was worth fusing with the Teigu since not only did he become stronger and faster, but he also gained many different powers no person has ever gotten before. Not even Esdeath, who only gained ice powers after drinking that entire vase of blood.
Pushing the overusing Teigu memories aside, Tatsumi is now wondering what he should do. Should he just admit to Leone he was a half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid with the power of Tyrant inside him, or should he erase her memories with his memory wiped ability? Neither option was appealing, especially the second one, but if Tatsumi was ever going to get out of the bar and meet the noble heiress tonight, he needed to come up with a plan.
"Damn, never thought someone would discover my secret,' Tatsumi admitted, letting out a sigh and running a hand through his hair. "While I'm still shocked you managed to sense what I am, Leone, I'm quite impressed. You're the first person in existence to sense what I am."
"So…it's true then?" Leone asked quietly, feeling her world crashing down after hearing what Tatsumi said, but became confused at the last sentence. She was the first person ever to sense what Tatsumi was? Did no one in his village know what he is? "You fused with a Tyrant, Tatsumi?"
Tatsumi sighed again, hoping what he says next doesn't bite him in the ass. "Yes, I did fuse with a Tyrant."
Other than widening her eyes in shock when Tatsumi admitted he'd fuse with a Tyrant, Leone didn't say anything but merely sat down in her seat and placed both her hands on her face, her body shaking a bit. She tried to keep the tears in her eyes at bay, but they began streaming down Leone's face like a river when she remembered she had to tell Night Raid what she learned.
After everything that has happened in the last few hours, this was how things, along with the start of a relationship, were going to end? All because Tatsumi admitted he'd fused with a Tyrant?
'It's not fair…' Leone thought, continuing to cry silently in her hands and becoming depressed from thinking about the report she had to tell. 'This is the only chance in my life I can achieve happiness and it's completely gone when Tatsumi admitted he fused with a Tyrant. I'm probably never going to get a boyfriend and might stay single for the rest of my life. Man, life sucks.'
Because Leone was crying silently in her hands and lost in her thoughts, she did not notice Tatsumi walking towards her with a chair being dragged behind him. Once he was close enough, he set the chair next to Leone, sat down and reached an arm out to wrap around her shoulder before pulling her into a sideways hug, her head laying on his own shoulder. This action made the blonde-hair woman stop crying immediately and move her hands away before turning sideways to see Tatsumi's concerned, yet sympathy, face.
"Hey, hey, it's okay, Leone," Tatsumi said, keeping one arm around Leone's shoulder, while using the other arm to gently stroke her face and wipe the tear strains away. "Just because I fused with a Tyrant and became a half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid, it doesn't mean I'm a dangerous person. I'm still a human being like you and will always be one." To prove his point, Tatsumi gave Leone a very bright smile.
Hearing those words caused a glimmer of happiness to appear in Leone's eyes. Tatsumi was right; just because he fused with a Tyrant and became a half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid, it didn't mean he was dangerous. He's still human like every human being in the world and will always be one like he said. That was enough for Leone to become happy, and the happiness grew more when she saw the very bright smile on Tatsumi's face.
'Yeah…Tatsumi's right,' Leone thought, feeling a smile spreading across her face before laying her head on Tatsumi's shoulder again. 'Who cares if he fused with a Tyrant and became a half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid? He said it himself, he's still a human being like us humans and will always be one. It's enough to convince me I can still pursue a relationship with him.' Leone then gained a mischievous look in her eyes. 'And also, Tatsumi, you are not a dangerous person; you are a very handsome and sexy man.'
'What a day this is turning out to be,' Tatsumi thought, honestly baffled at the events that's been happening lately. 'Not only did I go on a date with Leone, the same person who discovered my secret a few hours ago and asked me if I fused with a Tyrant, but I comforted her twice in a row, which I've never done before, and made her see I'm not a dangerous person. I'm really the luckiest person in the world.' Tatsumi couldn't help but give himself a mental pat on the back. 'Yet, despite being proud of myself, I wonder how I'm going to convince the other members of Night Raid I'm not dangerous. Will they listen to me or see me as a very great threat? I hope I can try to convince them I'm not a dangerous person.'
For a while, there was silence between Tatsumi and Leone as they sat next to each other, still hugging sideways or laying on shoulders in the latter's case. Neither of them wanted this moment to end since they were comfortable, but they sadly have to because it was getting pretty late, and they needed to go their separate ways. Leone has to leave the Capital and report back to Night Raid, while Tatsumi has to travel towards the place where he'll meet the noble heiress.
Both assassins didn't like what they have to do once they went their separate ways, especially Tatsumi, but can intentionally agree on one thing: The meetings were going to suck.
"Alright, Leone," Tatsumi said, breaking the silence and taking his arm off Leone's shoulder before standing up. "I know you want to ask more questions about me fusing with a Tyrant, but I really need to get going. My friend is still somewhere in the Capital, and I need to find her, along with a place to stay at."
Leone sighed, having expected this since she stopped Tatsumi from leaving moments ago. "I supposed it can't be helped." She stood up from her seat and stretched her tired limbs out. "I was going to ask more questions about you fusing with a Tyrant, Tatsumi, but I was too comfortable laying on your shoulder to ask."
"When we go on a date next time, Leone, you can ask me more questions about the Tyrant. I don't mind talking about it with you since you are, like I said, the first person to sense what I am." That statement was true, Leone is the only person in existence to sense what Tatsumi was. He had never told anyone about him being a half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid, including his childhood friends, and he intended to keep it that way until he joins Night Raid.
The less people know about Tatsumi's secret, the better things would become in the future.
Leone very much doubted there would be a date next time, considering she had to, as many times as before, tell Night Raid about her discoveries, but nonetheless nodded her head in agreement so that she didn't draw any suspicion.
It didn't take long for Tatsumi and Leone to pay for their meals and get ready to head their separate ways. Well, the latter was since she didn't bring any belongings. Before they could leave the private room, however, Leone stopped Tatsumi.
"Tatsumi, before we leave, I have one more question I want to ask," Leone said, getting Tatsumi's attention. "Why did you come here to the Capital?" She had to meant to ask that question during the hug moment, but it slipped her mind until now.
"I came here to earn money for my very poor village," Tatsumi replied after a moment of silence, wondering if that question was ever going to pop up, considering Leone hasn't taken in all the information he said about him fusing with a Tyrant. "The financial resources have always been a problem in my village and are currently in critical condition, which made the village chief send me and my friend to the Capital in order to earn money."
"Wait, if your village is very poor, then how did you manage to afford this private room in the first place? No offence, but you don't look the type of person carrying so much money."
"None taken, Leone," Tatsumi said, waving off the insult. "As for how I afford this private room, I stumbled upon a cave filled with treasure on my way towards the Capital. This happened right after me and my friend got separated by a pair of bandits." The cave filled with treasure part was a lie, but the separation part was true. "I got very, very lucky when I stumble upon that cave after the separation and I made sure to take everything out of there."
"I see," Leone said, not sure how to process what Tatsumi said. A cave filled with treasure? It's a believable claim, yet highly skeptical because not many rich people would hide their treasure in caves. Only a very desperate rich person would do that if they were being targeted by assassins. Still, though, the claim did cause the suspicious feeling about Tatsumi's homelife to drop down. "Well, I'm sorry for doubting about your homelife, Tatsumi."
"It's fine, Leone, you were just being cautious. It's okay to be like that whenever you are meeting someone you don't know. I'd do the same if I meet someone I don't know" Tatsumi can respect Leone for being cautious around him, which shows him there was more to the busty blonde than being a hotheaded very laid-back assassin.
"I'll take your word for it," Leone said, nodding her head in agreement. She may be hotheaded and have a laid back personality, but she's not dumb. She will always be cautious whenever she meets a stranger, even if it is a fellow Revolutionary Army soldier or assassin.
Right after that sentence, another silence reigned between Tatsumi and Leone, this one being uncomfortable and awkward. They knew what was coming next, yet they didn't want it to happen. But unfortunately for them, fate had other plans.
"Well," Tatsumi started, not sure what to say. Despite already knowing he was going to meet Leone in a few days, he really doesn't want to see her go; her death still affected his mind from earlier. "I guess this is it."
"Yeah…" Leone said quietly, also not sure what to say. Unlike Tatsumi's painful thoughts, her thoughts were sad because this was the last time she would see him alive. "I don't know what to say or do in this situation."
"To be honest, Leone, I don't know what to do as well because I never like those last moments. I absolutely hate them with all my might." The mention of the last moments brought back even more painful memories and Tatsumi couldn't stop his eyes from glistening in tears. "I don't want to say goodbye to the people important to me, including ones I have feelings for. I want to make sure I meet the people important to me again instead of one last time."
Hearing that speech brought a small smile to Leone's face, along with tears in her eyes. She felt the same way as Tatsumi, not wanting to say goodbye to the people important to her one last time. It's one of the reasons why she trains hard to make sure losing the people important to her doesn't happen. Leone will always make sure she doesn't lose anyone important to her.
Seeing the sad look on Tatsumi's face, along with the tears in his eyes, made Leone walk towards him and gently embrace him in a hug, her head resting on his shoulder. She felt Tatsumi become startled and tense in the hug, which made her tense as well, thinking she did something wrong. But the tension vanished when Leone felt Tatsumi's strong arms wrapped around her back, making the former breath out an inward sigh of relief. She didn't do anything wrong, she had only startled Tatsumi.
'I wish I can enjoy more of these warm hugs in the future,' Leone thought, the tears in her eyes finally streaming down her face once again and landing on Tatsumi's shoulder. 'But I can't. Tatsumi has fused with a Tyrant instead of having the scent on him and I have to report this to Night Raid. They are going to make sure he gets assassinated, no matter how hard he tries to explain himself.' The image of Tatsumi being assassinated popped into Leone's mind and it caused more tears to stream down her face. 'It sucks that there's nothing I can do to change Night Raid's mind about killing Tatsumi.'
'I don't want to let go of Leone at all,' Tatsumi thought, releasing his own tears and hugging Leone close to his chest, afraid to unwrap his arms around her. 'I'm scared that if I do, she could suddenly drop dead with bullet holes in her stomach and a pool of blood forming underneath her. I really don't want to see that in my mind again.'
The date, which had once been comfortable, now turned into sadness as both assassins continued to hug each other and cry silently about the different thoughts in their heads.
And done! That's the end of the Back at The Capital (Finale)! I'm so glad I finally got the chapter done; this took so long to finish since there were many good sentences I wrote, only for them to be deleted after realizing the plot didn't make sense in my head. So much effort into those sentences, only to be deleted. (Sigh) But anyways, a new chapter has finally been completed.
I'm very sorry if I haven't updated any chapters to this story or any of my stories; I've been quite busy the last few weeks. I did say writing chapters in this story would take a while to publish because I want to make sure the plot of the story is right and make no mistakes. And I was right, this chapter took so long to write and I'm never going to do a full chapter again. It's just so hard to write and concentrate on a single chapter and I don't have the energy to do it. So, from now on, no more full chapters. This was the exception since I wanted to try it again.
Next chapter will finally be the one we have all been waiting for, the one I promise to actually write. The reunion with Night Raid. I already planned out how I wanted the chapter to be, namely the fight between Tatsumi and Akame. I haven't thought out the beginning and middle, but once I do like the next four people who will receive their spirits, I'll get to work on the chapter as soon as possible.
I'm sorry for the long-awaited update to this story and I hope the chapter makes up for it. Remember, writing these chapters in this story will take time for me to update, so I need you guys to have patience. It would greatly appreciate me and not put so much stress, which would make it harder to update this story.
Write a review if you like this story and enjoy the chapter.
Next Chapter: Reunion with Night Raid.
