Akame Ga Kill: Kill the Second Chance.
Chapter Ten: Tyrant Hybrid vs Black Angel (Finale)
Previously in the last chapter.
There were numerous questions Bulat wanted to know as he continued to stare at the guy who fused with the Tyrant. Why does he have this brotherly feeling in his chest? Why does the guy who fused with a Tyrant looked awfully familiar? More importantly, why does Bulat has the strangest feeling he even met the said guy before when he knows he haven't until now?
"Should we help Akame, guys?" Lubbock asked, thinking Akame may need help to fight against the half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid. "It looks like she needs it. I can sense her becoming exhausted as the fight rages on."
"No, Lubbock," Leone said immediately, not wanting the battle between Akame and Tatsumi be interrupted. She wanted to see how well the latter can fare against the deadly former, especially against a Teigu that can kill anyone and anything almost instantly with a single cut. "We're not going to help her with her fight. She can handle this by herself. If things go bad, then we'll help her."
Other than Bulat, who nodded his head in understanding but didn't take his eyes away, Mine and Lubbock didn't look happy at what Leone said, but they didn't argue as they knew how stubborn she can be. So, they were forced to watch the fight with reluctance.
'Besides, I have a feeling things are about to become real interesting soon during the fight,' Leone thought with a smile as she stared at the battle between Akame and Tatsumi. 'Maybe Tatsumi might join Night Raid if we can convince him the dark truth about the Capital and holds his own against Akame. I really hope so because he might be the ultimate trump the Revolutionary Army and Night Raid needs to end the war against the Empire in the future.'
(In the Present; With Akame and Tatsumi)
As the epic fight between Akame and Tatsumi rages on with them clashing their blades against each other fiercely while moving around the area in blurs of black and red, the latter was having trouble accepting the fact how…long the said fight has been going. Not only that, but he was able to get Akame fight seriously, despite the fact he is holding back his power as he didn't want her to get severely injured or killed.
One simple strike from the very sharp sword could very much end Akame's life. Normal people would find this fact extremely unnerving, but other people would find it intriguing and wonder how such a sword can exist.
But back to the current problem at hand. The fight between the two assassins should've ended a couple minutes ago with Leone stopping Akame from killing Tatsumi after the failed assassination attempt…so why is it still going on when it should've ended a couple minutes ago?
It just now occurred to Tatsumi, who is currently either blocking or dodging a barrage of quick attacks from Akame's deadly sword, he wanted to show Night Raid who is no doubt watching the fight right now in the shadows behind the trees he has the requirement skills to become one of them. That had been exactly what he thought earlier in the noble mansion before he got started on getting his revenge for what happened to him, along with his childhood friends, in the old timeline.
How could Tatsumi forget the plan he just thought when he had been getting ready for the slaughter that was going to happen tonight? The answer was very simple and exactly the same one during the shopping spree in the Capital with Aria this morning.
Tatsumi was a dumb bumkin, only dumber than before and single-minded. The very last trait was completely true as all he had been focusing on was getting revenge on the noble family two days after accepting the bodyguard job. He hadn't been thinking anything else lately, except his revenge and rejoining Night Raid. Although he did thought more of the former than the latter.
'When I'm done killing the noble bitch and rejoined Night Raid, I'm planning to do some deep meditation to clear my mind,' Tatsumi thought with firmness as he definitely needed to clear his rather troubled mind ever since he entered the Capital a week ago. He was slowly starting to lose his edge and that's the last thing he needed since there are important events about to be repeated once again in the future. 'I'm paying too much attention on a single topic, and I need to focus on the other events that's about to be repeated in the future. I hope the meditation can help me since it's the most useful thing to calm down when becoming angry or stressed.'
(With Night Raid)
Leone was amazed as she continued to watch the battle between Akame and Tatsumi, which is starting to become more fierce and deadly. She had never thought she would see someone who was able to not only make Akame fight seriously but also go par-to-par with her in a sword fight. She herself can do it but only hand-to-hand combat since wielding weapons aren't really much of her thing.
But still, to see someone make Akame fight seriously and go par-to-par with her in a sword fight at the same time was an interesting development to take notice of, which Leone and the other members of Night Raid did as they can instantly tell the half human/half Danger-Beast has great potential, including skills.
'Wow, I never thought I would see Akame fight seriously against someone who she thinks is a regular person but has a great power radiating off his body,' Leone thought, still amazed at the fact Tatsumi was not only making Akame fight seriously but also go par-to-par with her in a sword fight, something no enemy can do, except strong assassins. 'Tatsumi really does have skills, but I wonder what other powers he has up his sleeves, considering he fused with the most dangerous Danger-Beast in the world.'
Bulat was also amazed as he watched the battle between Akame and the guy who fused with the Tyrant. Like Leone, he had never thought he would see someone not only make the former fight seriously but also go par-to-par with her in a sword fight. He once fought her when she was still working for the Empire and the fight had been extremely fierce, eventually leading to a standstill without reaching a conclusion.
The reason why was because Akame, who had decided to give up when it's clear she stood no chance against Bulat, who is much skilled, stronger and faster than her, despite her receiving training from the Elite Seven, acknowledged she would've lost the fight if it reached a conclusion. Not only that, but because she noticed her enemy had been wielding, even wore, a strong Teigu during the fight. No way her weapon would've pierce through the said Teigu; it would very much shatter into many pieces.
It had been the only time Bulat and Akame fought each other seriously, and they never did it again, except sparring to improve their skills, speed and strength.
But not everyone in Night Raid was amazed at the battle between Akame and Tatsumi.
One person particular was not amazed and was currently voicing out her opinion.
"What the absolute hell is Akame doing?!" Mine whispered, once again greatly appalled of seeing Akame having trouble fighting against the half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid. It's the first time she has seen her struggling against someone in a sword fight and it made her concerned. Was Akame slowly losing her edge? No, it couldn't be true because she would never lose her edge even when she is training back at the base or on a mission. It's clearly something else. "Is she going easy on the guy or something?!"
Like Bulat, there was something awfully familiar about the guy who fused with the Tyrant, something that made a…loving feeling appeared in Mine's chest, which highly confused and frustrated her at the same time. What is with this loving feeling inside her? Was she catching a fever or something? She would need to get checked out once Night Raid completes the assassination mission and eliminate the half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid.
"I wouldn't say she's going easy on him, Mine," Lubbock stated, not taking his eyes away from the battle while getting Mine's attention. "It's just Akame hasn't fought anyone seriously for a while after defecting the Empire. Plus, she doesn't know he is the enemy we all need to take out in the future. It would make sense why she's struggling against him."
What Lubbock said caused Mine to gain a pensive expression on her face as she thought about the words. It was true Akame didn't know the target Night Raid needed to take out in the future is actually right in front of her, currently engaging her in a fierce deadly sword fight, and the fact it's been a while since she last fought anyone seriously only added more sense to the theory.
But just because the theory made sense, it didn't mean Mine was still happy with Akame taking too long of fighting against someone in a sword fight.
"AKAME!" Mine shouted, startling the other members of Night Raid, haven't expected her to suddenly shout out. "Quit screwing around and kill this guy already! We have to complete our mission!"
(Back with Akame and Tatsumi)
"AKAME! Quick screwing around and kill this guy already! We have to complete our mission!"
Hearing Mine's voice from behind the trees made Tatsumi faltered during the fierce deadly sword fight as memories of her death and her final words flashed in his mind, making him feel down. He couldn't bring himself to block the kick being aimed at his torso, sending him skidding backwards when it made contact. He couldn't even bring himself to lift his sword up, which is hanging limp in his arms.
Tatsumi just…couldn't bring himself to fight Akame anymore, not after hearing Mine's voice, even though he needed to in order to show Night Raid he has the requirement skills to become one of them.
This action proved to be one of the most worst mistakes Tatsumi has ever made in his life, possibly in the new timeline he's in.
Akame, who felt confusion once again but at the sudden personality shift, quickly shrugged the feeling off as she finally found an opening she needed to end the fight once and for all. She dashed towards the still feeling down unfocused Tatsumi, whose mind is still thinking about Mine's death and her last words in the old timeline, and slashed him across the chest with her sword.
"GAH!" Tatsumi's thoughts came to a screeching halt when he felt something sharp cutting across his chest, causing him to release a pain cry and take a step backwards as blood sprayed out of the wound. His eyes were wide as dinner plates as he looked at the said wound, hardly believing he had been cut for the very first time, much less shed blood. He could already feel the infamous cursed poison working its way towards his heart on the inside and the ink black markings spreading across his body on the outside.
Too bad for Akame cursed poison doesn't work on someone who has a resistance to any types of poison, including the mention one. She, along with Night Raid, are going to be very, very shocked in a few moments.
It was time to put the acting skills to the test once again.
"TATSUMI, NO!" Aria screamed loudly, greatly horrified of seeing Tatsumi getting slashed across the chest by Akame's sword. Tears were streaming down her face as she realized he was dead. 'NO! NO! NO! THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING OR REAL! TATSUMI'S NOT SUPPOSED TO DIE YET UNTIL I MAKE LOVE TO HIM! HE CAN'T DIE!'
Tatsumi, eyes still wide as dinner plates and still feeling the effects of the most dangerous Teigu in the world, slowly looked up to see Akame staring him with an emotionless look on her face. "You…you cut me…"
"I did say I was going to eliminate you without mercy or hesitation earlier," Akame stated in her monotone voice, continued to stare at Tatsumi with the emotionless look on her face. "I had given you the choice to step aside as I didn't want to kill an innocent bystander, only the girl behind you, but you chose to ignore my words. You have brought this all upon yourself because you wanted to be a hero, something I find both admiring and foolish."
"Well…I was only doing my job as a bodyguard…so excuse me for trying to be a hero…" Tatsumi let out a mix between a weak chuckle and a hoarse cough. The ink black markings had just now finished spreading across his body on the outside. The only thing left was the cursed poison still traveling towards his heart on the inside. But like before, it wasn't going to kill him. It's only going to reside and make all movements slow until Tatsumi uses his cleansing ability to extract it out of his system.
Akame wasn't one to show or feel emotions at all during assassination missions. It was thanks to her social awkwardness and her assassin training from the Empire that turned her into the cold-hearted person she is now. It's not something she is proud of since she absolutely hated it, and she was planning to change her personality to a kinder more social person after the war ends in the future, though it will take a while because she needs to work on her social skills when talking to someone.
But back to the current problem. Akame doesn't show or feel emotions…so why does looking at Tatsumi, who is already dead because of her Teigu but still standing upwards when he should've collapsed to the ground a moment ago, made her heart hurt so much she wanted to shed tears from her eyes? It's like seeing a close friend being killed by another assassin…and it made her heart hurt more than before.
'What is with this incredibly sad feeling in my chest?' Akame thought, placing a hand over her chest where her heart is located. 'I shouldn't be feeling nothing at all since I'm an assassin and I can't afford to let my personal feelings or emotions get in the way during a mission. But why does looking at Tatsumi makes my heart hurt so much? Have I met him before or something?'
"Hey, Akame…" Tatsumi said weakly, breaking Akame's thoughts. "Do you…want to know…something important?"
"What is it, Tatsumi?" Akame asked curiously, wondering what Tatsumi has to say before he dies, even though he already is like she thought before. She at first wanted to know how he knew her name, but concluded the previously alive guards told him about her, including Night Raid.
"I want…to say…that your sword…" Here, Tatsumi began to fall forward, apparently almost reaching the time limit he has left in the land of living. Akame, not sure why she's even doing this, rushed forward to grab him and gently laid him onto his back on the ground with her kneeling next to him. "Your sword…"
Akame was confused. What does her sword have to do with anything? "My sword? What about my sword?"
"Your sword…" Tatsumi's eyes slowly began to close, but he had enough strength left to lock gazes with Akame's dark red eyes. The moment they did…his eyes snapped wide open, and a shark-like grin appeared on his face, very much shocking the dark-hair assassin to the core. "Has no effect on me at all."
And done! That's the ending of the chapter! The epic battle between Akame and Tatsumi has finally come to an end with the latter getting slashed across the chest by the former's sword, only to be completely unaffected by its cursed poison. Akame is very shocked at seeing this. How will the other members of Night Raid handle this? Find out in the next chapter.
Next chapter will be Tatsumi killing Aria, healing Sayo from being torture beyond belief by the noble family and asking Night Raid to join them. It may take a while for me to write it since I have no idea how to start it off, but I'm sure I can come up with something fast instead of late.
