As Asta and Loki were preparing to return to Asgard, Thor came to them. He pulled Loki aside for a moment.

"I'm afraid I wasn't able to give you your wedding present earlier."

Loki rolled his eyes. "Thor, there's no need for one. You orchestrated our reunion. I should be getting you a gift."

"Well, I got you one anyway, but didn't want to give it to you until now. I wanted to keep your wedding day just as that."

"Thor? What are you trying to say? You have me very confused."

"Very well. Straight to the point then. My gift to you is the throne."

Loki sputtered for a moment. "I'm sorry, what?"

"Loki, I've never wanted to be king. I've just always been told I do. I'm not suited to wear the crown. I want adventure! I want battles and rescuing! The throne is not where I'm meant to be. I want to stay here on Midgard, with Jane and with the Avengers. This gift is as much for me as it is for you."

"There is no way that Odin will allow this."

"I've already spoken to Father. He wasn't pleased at first, but only because I disrupted his plans. And he loves his plans. But once I explained how you've changed and told him of the good you've done on Midgard and the love you've found with Asta, and of course Mjolnir's deeming you worthy, well, he was quite agreeable to it."

"This isn't funny."

Thor put a hand on his brother's shoulder. "Loki, mischief is your forte. I mean every word I say. Odin will pass the crown to you. Here and now, I officially abdicate the throne to my little brother."

"I… I don't know what to say."

"Say what you wish of me, my liege! Anything my king demands!" Thor said dramatically, putting his fist to his chest.

"You oaf!" Loki said with a laugh. He leaned towards Thor. "Give us a kiss."

Thor pushed away, laughing as he said, "Ok, maybe not anything." Once the laughter died down, Thor put a hand on Loki's shoulder. "Do you accept?"

Loki took a deep breath. "I will need to discuss it with Asta. It's not just my life anymore. If she accepts, I definitely will."

Thor smiled. "An answer worthy of a king with a strong queen."

Asta came over then. "What trouble are you two getting into now?"

Loki gave Thor one last push to the shoulder. "Just my brother being a fool. Are you ready, my love?"

"I am. I can't wait to see Asgard again!"

Thor smiled. "Go and enjoy preparing for your ceremony. I shall see you in a few days to gladly stand with you again."

Asta gave him a hug. "Thank you for everything, brother."

Thor kissed the top of her head. "You are more than welcome. You're my favorite sister, you know."

Asta rolled her eyes as Loki wrapped his arms around her. "It's not hard to compete with Hela! And you're my favorite brother. But don't tell Peter."

"The Man of Spiders shall never know," Thor whispered dramatically.

Loki sighed. "If you two are done." He shook his head and held Asta closer. "Heimdall!"

And in a flash of light, they were transported to Asgard.

Asta joyfully greeted Heimdall and they quickly made their way to the palace, Loki happily holding her close on their horse. Frigga was waiting for them as soon as they entered.

"Asta! My dear! I am so glad to finally see you again!" the queen said, pulling her into a tight embrace.

"Your majesty! It's wonderful to see you again as well," Asta replied.

Frigga pulled back, but kept holding her at an arm's length. "Asta, you need not address me with such formalities. We're family now and if you were to want to call me something else… something more endearing… well, I wouldn't be opposed."

Asta giggled. "Very well then… Mother."

"Ah! There's my girl!" Frigga said, kissing Asta's forehead.

Loki cleared his throat. "And the insignificant one is here as well."

Frigga turned to him. "Oh! Loki! When did you get here?" she teased.

"Ha-ha."

"Oh hush, son. You know I've missed you as well! I've seen you much more recently than Asta, though." She kissed his cheek. "Now, get settled in. I've arranged for you to stay in Loki's chambers, but we can certainly move you if you want. And after lunch, we shall begin planning your ceremony!"

She hurried off then, leaving Asta and Loki to wander to their room.

When they arrived, Loki led her to sit on the bed. "My love, I need to talk with you about something."

"Is everything alright?" Asta asked with a worried tone.

"Yes, of course. But I need to tell you what Thor and I were discussing."

"I was curious what had you both so riled up."

"He's abdicating the throne."

Asta's eyebrows shot up. "I'm sorry. He's what?"

Loki sighed. "He's abdicating the throne. To me."

"Thor doesn't want to be king?"

"No. He wants to stay with Jane and the Avengers. He'd rather have that adventure."

"Well, I can't say that surprises me much."

"So, what do you think?"

"About what?"

"About all of this. Do you want to do this?"

"Loki, I don't think it's my decision."

He took her hands into his. "But you absolutely get a say in this. It affects your life as well now."

"This is what you're meant to do. I'll gladly stand beside you for it!"

"My Asta, what would I do without you?"

"Life would be dreadfully dull, I suppose."

"Where have I heard that before?"

Asta shrugged. "I recall it from somewhere."

Loki slapped his hands on his knees. "Well, it looks like we're going to be king and queen."

"I suppose we are. And now we probably should get back to your mother."

"Not yet."

"Not yet?"

"No, there's something I have dreamed of doing in this room for years and I think now is the perfect time."

He bent to kiss her and she happily returned it. When his hands moved across her chest, she gasped. "Wait, you want to do that now?"

"Very much so. We are married and this is our room now."

"But your mother is waiting."

"And she can continue waiting for a bit. I have fantasized about making love to you in this bed for longer than I can express. And I am not going to pass up an opportunity."

Asta smirked. "We're not married on Asgard, though."

Loki took her face in both of his hands. "My love, my heart has been married to yours for centuries. I don't need a piece of Asgardian parchment to prove that." He began peppering kisses all along her jaw and neck. "So are you agreeable to my plan?"

"You're very difficult to say no to," she sighed.

"I know," he replied as he leaned them both back onto the bed.

A while later, the couple finally joined Frigga on a balcony.

"Ah, come, sit, my dears! I'm eager to hear about your plans for your wedding in Asgard!"

Loki and Asta sat with her and both smiled. It was hard to not love Frigga.

Asta shrugged. "Well, I suppose we're along for all the traditions of the marriage of a prince."

Frigga nodded. "Well, of course, Odin shall perform the ceremony. You are welcome to have a few of your friends stand with you. The chefs are already preparing. Are there any foods you'd like?"

Asta grinned. "I would love the honey rolls they used to serve at banquets when I was here."

Loki's grin matched hers. "I know why you want those."

"Because they are delicious?"

"Is that the answer you're sticking with, love?"

Frigga rolled her eyes. "Do you think me blind? I know it was Loki that made the bread fly at Thor and the Warriors Three."

Asta and Loki shared an uneasy glance.

Frigga smiled. "But they are delicious and since they obviously have some sort of… sentimental connection to you, then we should definitely serve those."

"Thank you, Mother," Loki said.

"Now, what about flowers?" the queen asked.

"Lilies," Asta instantly replied.

Loki looked to her. "Darling, if you wanted lilies, why didn't we use them on Midgard?"

"Asgardian lilies are so much better than those on Midgard. I didn't want those kinds. And roses on Midgard are quite lovely."

"I couldn't agree more," Frigga said. "Asgardian lilies it is. You'll need to meet with the florist to work out your bouquet. Now, music. Are there any songs you want played?"

"There is one," Asta replied. She looked to Loki. "I'm sorry. I feel as though I've taken over this planning session."

He smiled. "Not at all, my sweet. You didn't get much say in our Midgardian ceremony, so I'm happy to let you take the lead here."

"Well then, I want 'The Waltz of the Fairies' to be our first dance."

"You remember," Loki murmured.

"Of course I remember. I'm happy you do as well. It is from rather long ago."

"My love, how could I forget the song we first danced to?"

Asta shrugged. "Well, we were children then. It has been a very long time."

"Ah, but that memory was one of a few that got me though our separation."

Frigga smiled again. She cleared her throat to remind the couple that she was still there. "I think that is a lovely idea for a first dance. If you think of any other songs, we can certainly add those in as well. Finally, have you thought about your attire?"

Loki grinned at his wife. "Well, I will need my leather armor and my horned helmet. Perhaps a cape as well."

His smile did not escape his mother, nor did the blush on Asta's face. "Very well. The tailors will be able to work on that. And Asta? Do you have thoughts on your gown?"

"I was actually planning on wearing the gown I wore for our Midgard ceremony. Loki has plans to redesign it a bit to make it more traditional for Asgard."

Frigga beamed at her son. "Oh, Loki! That sounds wonderful! There is certainly a hopeless romantic in you. If you need any help with those spells, let me know. And that might just cover everything. I am very excited to finally see you wed. I've been waiting for this day since you were children."

Loki took Asta's hand. "You aren't the only one."

"Yes, indeed. Now, let us enjoy these scones before it's late and we ruin our dinners."
