Everyone ran off except Loki. "My darling, had I known this ahead of time, I would have insisted you stay home."
"Hey, I got injured in the tower too."
"Don't remind me."
"Just go out there and kick some ass. I'll keep everyone as well as I can. You just make sure that horned head comes back to me in one piece."
"Mmmm, still planning on leading me around later with them?"
"You have no idea."
Tony's voice in the comms interrupted them. "Aaaand you have no idea how your comms are still on. You gonna join us or you gonna defile the jet?"
Loki laughed. "Once was enough, Stark. No worries there."
"Ew."
Asta giggled a bit. "Ok, Reindeer Games, get moving. I love you."
He rolled his eyes before he kissed her hard. "I love you as well." Then he turned and ran into the fight.
Asta kept a constant check on her comm. It was nerve wracking to not know where everyone was or how they were doing. Especially Loki.
Then there was the call. "Asta! It's Wanda! She's been hit!" Natasha's voice called.
She broke into a run. "Where?"
Vision answered. "We're near the western turret."
"On my way!"
"Use caution, my love!" Loki yelled.
"You as well, troublemaker!"
Asta ran towards what she assumed was the west side of the castle-like building. And suddenly she found herself at Wanda's feet.
Loki's voice rang through the comm. "Sorry, love, thought it would be faster if I teleported you."
"Save your magic energy for yourself!" Asta chastised. She turned to Wanda. "What happened?"
"I'm not sure. Something exploded and my leg was burning!"
"Ok, ok. Hold still." She held her hand over Wanda's leg and began to heal the wound. There wasn't much time for her medical training, only straight up healing. "How's that?"
"SO much better. Thanks!"
"Anytime."
Before she could say anything else, Asta heard Bucky screaming.
"Aw, fuck!" was heard through the comms.
"Is no one gonna correct Barnes' language? Captain?" Tony teased.
"Whoa! I just found him. He needs help!" Clint countered.
"Heading over!" Asta replied. "What's wrong?"
"His arm! The good one! There's blood everywhere!"
Asta ran even faster then. When she found Clint and Bucky, she gasped. "What happened?"
Bucky could barely breathe, but he tried to answer. "Huge… sword."
She tried not to worry Bucky, but it looked like the "huge sword" almost completely removed his arm.
"Ok, well, I can fix it, but I'll be honest, Buck, this is going to hurt. Clint, can you hold his arm up for me?"
Barton grabbed the limp arm and ignored Bucky's scream at the movement.
"Are you ready?"
Bucky nodded and Asta focused a burst of her powers at him. He howled in pain as the bone began to fuse back together.
"I'm so sorry, Bucky!" Asta whispered. Finally, once the wound was completely closed, Asta took a deep breath. "How's that?"
"Still hurts, but not like it did. Thanks, Nightingale."
"Just call me Flo," Asta added with a laugh. She pressed a finger to her comm. "Anyone else?"
"Shouldn't have asked!" Tony responded. "I just found a woozy Hulk."
"That sounds dangerous," Asta said softly. "Where are you?"
She heard Loki then. "Darling, I'm not letting you deal with an injured Hulk on your own. I'm teleporting to you."
"I won't tell you no on that one."
In a moment, she felt herself being whisked away. As they landed, Asta noted a cut on Loki's face and healed it as stealthily as she could.
They looked over and found Hulk, who was wearily chasing a flying Iron Man.
"Tried to keep him occupied til you got here," Tony said. "What's the plan?"
"I'll try to subdue his mind," Loki said. "And Asta can heal him more easily then."
"What's wrong with him? I don't see any injuries," Asta said as she cautiously stepped forward.
"I think the lug took something big and hard to the head," Tony answered.
"Ok. Then let's see if we can fix the boo-boo, eh, Jolly Green?"
Hulk roared at her and Loki instantly stepped between them.
"Not so fast, Banner," Loki muttered as raised one hand to use his powers to keep Hulk in place. He slowly turned the other one to calm his rage. "Alright, my love, please hurry."
Asta got as close as she dared and began to send healing waves to Hulk's head. Tony watched carefully in case the green beast toppled and Loki wasn't prepared. Finally, Hulk blinked slowly and Loki relinquished his grip on his mind and body.
"How are you feeling, big guy?" Asta asked.
"Hulk sleepy, but good," he replied.
"Fantastic. Why don't you just sit here for a few minutes, ok? Give that brain a break."
"Ok, Asta." He held out a fist, making Tony and Loki panic, but Asta understood. She lightly tapped her own fist to his. She turned to Tony. "Right then. Are we at least making progress here?"
Tony nodded. "We've got most of them down. Capsicle thinks the rest might retreat back to their planet soon."
"Good, that's good," Asta whispered as she swayed a bit.
"Darling?" Loki said, taking a step towards her.
"I'm fine. Just a little drained. Three big healings in such a short amount of time took a little more out of me than I thought. So much for those goddess powers, eh, mischief?"
"My love, even I can get drained sometimes and I've been doing this much longer than you." He pulled her against him for support.
Tony sighed in relief that she was at least marginally well. Loki would see to her safety now. "Ok, Doctor Reindeer, you two take a moment. The rest of us will get these aliens through their portal or blow them up, whichever comes first. Then we'll get home. I'm planning a party after this one. No arguments."
Asta sighed deeply and groaned. "If you must."
Tony furrowed his eyebrows and pointed at her. "Young lady, you are a Stark. You will party and you will like it."
Asta rolled her eyes exaggeratedly. "Fine, fine. Go clean up the mess so we can go home."
"You know, you've had quite the attitude since you've been dating that Laufeyson boy. I don't think I want you to see him anymore."
"Hilarious, Dad. Are you going to go be a superhero or not?"
"Ouch, that's below the belt. Fine, I'll get the others moving on this. You head back to the jet. Shawarma and then a party. Keep her safe, Rock of Ages."
"With my own life," Loki said sincerely.
Tony took off and Loki turned to Asta. "Are you well enough to teleport?" he asked.
Asta nodded. "I should be. I'm fine, other than a little weak. Don't make such a fuss."
"Don't make a fuss? My dove, are you forgetting the last time you overexerted yourself like this? You were unconscious for hours."
"That was before some training, but you've made your point. Let's get back to the jet. I'll happily rest on you for the entire flight back. Well, once you've removed this," she added, poking at his shoulder armor.
Loki scooped her up. "Anything you need, my sweetness." And he transported them to the jet.
"I'm sorry for needing you at the end there," Asta whispered as they sat down and Loki removed the bulky armor.
"My love, how many needed healing today?" he asked.
"Well, there were the big ones: Wanda, Bucky and Bruce. As I was running around, I probably healed minor things on the run on… Steve, Dad, Clint, Nat, Thor."
"So everyone except Vision, and he isn't human."
"And you."
He tilted his head at her. "I was likely the least in need of anything, but don't think I didn't notice you taking care of the wound on my face earlier."
"Caught that, eh?"
"Indeed. Though I was hoping to be the only non-android to not need healing today."
"I barely count it. You'll still get your reward," she said with a wink.
"Oooh, noted."
The others began to arrive slowly. Each of them thanked Asta for their help. She merely nodded at them as she struggled to keep her eyes open. Loki wrapped his arm around her and pulled her close. She didn't even notice when the jet took off as she had fallen into a comfortable sleep.
When they arrived home, Loki teleported them to their room, laid her on the bed softly, and changed her into a night shirt. Asta's eyes cracked open.
"Sorry I'm so tired," she whispered.
"Do not let it concern you, dove. Let's rest a bit."
"But we had plans," Asta whined.
"My helmet is on the night stand. And I think you'll find that I can very easily put you back into your suit." He waved his hand over her and she was back in the suit. He waved it back and she was back in the night shirt. "Once we're rested, the plans will definitely go into motion."
"Always thinking, my prince," she giggled.
"When it comes to you? Yes, my princess. Absolutely."
"I love you, my troublemaker."
"As I love you, my darling."
Loki couldn't help but smile as she drifted back to sleep. His love in his arms was all he needed.
