Here is the sixth chapter in this story released when I wanted it to be released based of my release process for this series. Akame is now a member of the Black Bulls but what does actually entail? Well she's been busy since joining but now it's time for a break as things have finally stabilized, what could possible go wrong with a simple trip to Kikka? That is all I have for the administrative stuff I have for y'all and there are no guest reviews to respond without being overly vague in my answer or questions to answer so I will end this here. Do keep them coming as your support is the best motivation for me to keep producing chapters at this kind of rate. That is it for this pre-chapter note so it is time to sit back and enjoy the sixth chapter in Akame ga Clover.
Disclaimer: I own nothing related to these two great animes.
Chapter 6: Remembering
A few months had passed by since Akame had joined the Black Bulls and they'd been a complete blur to her. A good blur but a blur nonetheless and as she walked through the Castle Town of Kikka with Vanessa, Charmy was already at an all you can eat place challenging her appetite that Akame would definitely check out on her next day off, she reflected on what had happened since she'd joined the Black Bulls and why she was now able to stroll through Kirra without an issue. It had certainly been a wild few months in deed.
The morning after Akame had joined she'd woken up, gotten dressed, and left her room to ask about where the bathroom was so that she could take a much-needed bath. Oddly, there was a random pillar in front of her that she almost walked into but avoided because of her reflexes though not before she'd created Murasame and slashed through it, along with a few of Vanessa's threat traps, in the process much to Vanessa's surprise.
The older woman had been coming up to get Akame and some healing herbs having woken up with a killer hangover downstairs before making her way up to the women's side to show Akame around once she had her hangover under control. She'd arrived in time to see Akame's reaction and was a little startled by it before laughing and explaining that for some reason the hideout was constantly shifting slightly and no one knew why, or if they did it was likely only Yami who refused to tell them why it was always shifting or why any damage done to the base seemed to be repaired the next day.
Akame hadn't been surprised by that news, she had seen the base change a little from the outside when staking it out, but she accepted the offer to show her around and asked Vanessa where the washroom was and if there were communal towels as she didn't have any, or other clothes for that matter. Vanessa, who needed the bath herself, just nodded and helped her out with some communal stuff that the hideout had, though personal clothes or actually good washing products they would have to buy with their own wages, before taking her to the bath which they enjoyed together as it was a communal bath.
Thanks to her training Akame wasn't shy about nudity with another woman around, it was just a fact of life for her, and even with someone who's body was as envious as Vanessa's was, especially in the bust region, Akame was fine with stripping down and getting in the large, warm, women's bath. It was just what she needed and helped sooth her as she washed, Vanessa helping with Akame's long hair, before they got dressed, Akame still getting used to wearing a Magic Knight robe, and Vanessa gave Akame the tour of the place.
She started with what Akame would want to see the most, the dining room. It was a shockingly large, two-story room on the first floor with a stone floor, wood panel lower wall to stone for the second level, and at least 3 long tables with benches like a school or something. There was an archway at one end that had a serving table in it and for some reason various paintings on the walls. It was an odd room, but Akame didn't mind and as Charmy was already there eating so the other girls joined her for breakfast where Akame again showed her near Charmy level of eating.
After that, and leaving Charmy to continue eating having once again outdone Akame's appetite, Vanessa showed her the rest of the hideout including the magic beasts for the first time. Akame wouldn't have to feed them, they were Yami's and for some reason they only accepted food from men, mainly Magna who they tried to eat as well, but Akame would be expected to pitch in with the chores which she accepted, and which somehow felt normal to her. She also showed Akame the small library and the rec room that contained only torture equipment as well.
That was basically it for the tour and Vanessa was soon off to get day drunk in the common area while leaving Akame with her first chore, laundry. As the newest member she'd have to do this, but she didn't mind, it was just part of the team and while her true talents were in the kitchen, she was an excellent cook when it came to all things meat, including fish as that was still meat, Charmy had the covered and no one was allowed to mess with her on that front. Akame understood and respected that, Charmy was the superior chef as her Sheep Cooks were phenomenal, so Akame was more than happy to cede that job to her.
That didn't mean that Akame wasn't denied from helping in that regard. Her magic and killing instincts made her an exceptional hunter and as there were many creatures around the hideout that could be cooked, including a few that Charmy herself had yet to sample as she'd not been able to catch them yet, Akame was more than willing to hunt for Charmy's cooking pot.
The only instructions that she'd been given was to never hunt for sport, she didn't so that wasn't an issue, never kill a beast with young depending on it, and only kill a species that was already in abundance in the area. She followed all of those and soon the Black Bulls were feasting on a lot of new types of meat thanks to her efforts.
Other than that, the only thing to really do as a Magic Knight was train and go on missions be they officially given by the Wizard King or unofficial ones that helped the kingdom in some way. The Black Bulls tended to get missions that no one else wanted, that were too politically sensitive for other squads to handle and thus had to be done under the table so to speak, or that were of a high chance of collateral damage. However, in some cases they also got unofficial missions from the common folk who knew and liked them because the Black Bulls were almost all commoners who understood them.
That last part had been a surprise to Akame. As far as she knew all of the squad with the exception of Finral and Gauche were commoners or not native to the Clover Kingdom and in Gauche's case he was now a commoner having been expelled from the nobility several years ago though Akame didn't know why as all he talked about was his sister while his nose bled which was creepy and made Akame not want to ask him about his past.
As such, Akame found herself on a few missions over the months that usually went rather array in spectacularly destructive ways that earned them negative stars due to them causing more harm than good. Not that the squad minded as they were fine with their reputation and Akame was with them in that camp.
Stars were meaningless to her, she was doing a job and given her talents and desire to end corruption she was sent on missions that fit her so if there was destruction in the course of success she didn't matter. After all, she wasn't going to lose sleep over 'accidentally' shredding some corrupt noble's stolen fine art collection with her Blade Magic while apprehending him for being one of the funders of the assassin school that had made her though at least she wasn't capable of large-scale destruction with her magic, others in the squad more than made up for that.
That investigation into the assassin school and the mission to bring the handlers there and those who backed them to justice had been the main one that the Black Bulls had been involved in over the last few months. It was what had brought Akame to them after all and was a personal project of the Wizard King that only the Black Bulls could pull off and Akame was more than willing to help out in any way she could so as to rid the kingdom of their stain upon it.
Ultimately it had taken a whole month for Marx, as he was basically working on this on his own given Julius's other duties and constant galivanting around the kingdom, to track down the location of the school from Akame's memories. It didn't help that she'd never known its location and that any transport was by a spatial mage, but he finally narrowed it down to an unpopulated area of the Forsaken Realm and near the strong magic region that separated Clover from the Spade Kingdom to the north.
Once the area was known, the Black Bulls were dispatched to observe it to confirm that it was indeed what Marx and the Wizard King believed it to be, and then storm it and arrest all the assassins and handlers there for questioning. The orders were that the handlers had to be taken in alive but any of Akame's fellow assassins could be killed in self-defense as they would be fighting to kill and likely no less would actually stop them. Finally, Akame had a chance to end the organization that had made her into what she was today, something she'd never expected but desperately wanted.
It took a few days of observing the facility, an unassuming building in the middle of nowhere that looked like a forgotten outpost from a bygone era, but which was the cover for a massive underground facility that had been created by a mix of Earth and Stone Magic, before they decided to attack. They had to wait for the Spatial Mage to be away, that way they could capture the handlers without fear that they'd flee and as Akame had seen that mage's face it would be easy to catch him later, so the moment he left the area they attacked.
Most of the squad was there and rather than storm the main building Yami just entered through the ground because why not and they took the facility by surprise, Luck's highly tuned senses to mana enabling them to strike at the right place for maximum entrance effect. What followed was a brutal battle that earned the Black Bulls a negative star because they ended up reshaping the entire landscape for several miles by getting out of hand during the battle.
That was mainly Yami's doing but still it was pretty bad even if they'd succeeded for the most part. They'd taken the facility by surprise and quickly overwhelmed the handlers and assassins present. It wasn't all of them but a good number and the handlers, as Akame expected, ordered the assassins that were present to protect them while they tried to escape only to be caught by Yami or Vanessa or end up being sent to the Black Bulls' dungeon by Finral's portals where various spells that had been set up before the mission were waiting to properly bind the handlers.
As for the assassins who had been present, they were conditioned to fight and die for the group and did that with killer intent. In total there were 26 assassins present at that time, 5 of whom had been from the group that Akame had been a part of while the remaining 11 were from older groups as the process was repeated every few years with a new group currently in the strong magic region hence why some of the handlers weren't present. That did leave at least 3 assassins that Akame knew of free but she knew their faces so they wouldn't be able to hide forever.
Naturally those 26 assassins, well 22 as 4 had been incapacitated by the opening strike, engaged the Black Bulls the moment they showed up. Despite the danger, most of the Black Bulls were not killers at their hearts so fought to incapacitate though if they were injured they'd be sent to safety by Finral.
For some this worked as Charmy's magic was surprisingly strong and hard to affect with anything short of a piercing style spell allowing her to capture without an issue and Gordan's poison magic could easily knock out foes without killing them. For others like Magna, it was more of a slug fest, but he still managed to catch two assassins and a handler almost all by himself.
Only Akame, Yami, and Luck ended up killing people that day. For Akame it was simply her training and she fell into it the moment the battle began as she knew that it was kill or be killed in the fight. She ended up cutting down three of her fellow training survivors and four more of the older assassins with a ruthless efficiency that slightly scared her teammates and made them glad that she was on their side.
As for Yami it was only because the assassin in question wouldn't go down and then tried to kill Grey forcing Yami's hand. In Luck's case it was an accident as the assassin got in the way of a strike that took her in the heart and killed her instantly but for the most part he subdued them with ease.
Alas a few assassins and at least one handler escaped in the chaos and fled either into the strong magic region or deeper into the kingdom and there were the few that weren't present as well, but the facility was destroyed and thanks to their attack the records it had were saved. They were almost destroyed but by pure chance they were near the food storehouse, so Charmy inadvertently protected them, and caught the handler rushing to destroy them, simply because she was trying to get a mid-battle snack.
Those records were handed over to Julius personally, along with the prisoners who would be taken to Marx and a few other trusted others in Julius's personal retinue to begin the process of questioning them and sifting through the data. Yami would be kept in the loop and the Black Bulls would help when it came to taking out corrupt nobles that had backed them but for now that was done.
Personally, Akame didn't care. Even with some handlers and assassins still free, she knew that she was free of them and could live her own life at last, within the bounds of her current probation of course. She celebrated that fact by going to the town of Nean on her next day off with her salary and finally enjoying a day out where she got a few things for her room, more clothes though mostly the same outfit, swimwear, pajamas and underwear, as well as some tasty snacks at a restaurant run by a young redhead and her many younger siblings. It was a great day and Akame loved every moment of it.
There was something more to the day out than just her first true day out, it was the first one that she'd been allowed on. With her defection she'd been forced to remain at the hideout until they'd ended the assassin school so as to preserve the planned surprise attack on it and now that it was over she could finally go out in public without an issue. She was of course always on guard but now she wore a Magic Knight robe showing her station and only those still surviving assassins and handlers knew her face, so she felt that she was safe.
The only place left for Akame to properly see was the Castle Town itself, well that and the vast royal castle with the residences of the three royal families but other than the Magic Knight Headquarters there she doubted she'd ever see the other places in the Capital not that she cared. Akame had learned of the royals back when she was an assassin and which families were better than others but for the most part they were seen with scorn as none of the royals backed the school, it was backed by nobles of lesser ranks who hoped to eventually use the assassins to overthrow the royals one day.
Still, Akame wouldn't judge them without knowing them, even if the reputations of pretty much all of the Kiras, most of the Silvas, and one or two Vermillions weren't good, until she met them. Not that she was expecting to ever meet any that is as they joined either familial Magic Knight Squads or, well, not the Black Bulls.
The only reason why this was on Akame's mind however was because she was now in the Castle Town of Kikka. It was the biggest and most notable of the many castle towns, which were named as such because you could see the looming Palace that topped the noble realm in the distance, because Kikka had the Colosseum where the Magic Knight Entrance Exam took place along with other useful places like the Black Market which was where Vanessa was taking Akame.
This was why the women were in the town on their day off a few months after Akame had joined the squad. It was the best time for it now that the mission to end the assassin school was over, the identities of the wanted assassins and handlers, along with a few corrupt nobles that had been identified, were known and publicized, and Akame could come here for the first time to marvel at it.
Vanessa had said they'd come here, and they had on Vanessa's broom as Akame was still learning to properly handle one havening never actually learned before, and the woman was going to show as much of the town to Akame as possible. Akame was especially interest in the Black Market as it just sounded cool to visit and as Vanessa knew it well she was the best guide for Akame.
The older woman was in her full outfit that Akame had come to learn was her witches getup, an homage to her homeland of the Forest of Witches even if Vanessa would never return to it for various reasons. Akame didn't question that though, she had her own past she'd run from by joining the Black Bulls, so it was not her place to judge others who'd done the same and they were far from the only ones in the squad with a troubled past that they'd run away from.
Vanessa wore a magenta corset thing with a deep V that gave a spectacular view of her impressive cleavage, a small skirt thing that barely covered her crotch with a longer tail thing in the back and cuts to her hips that were hidden by her light blue grimoire bag and few pouches on her belt. To complete the look Vanessa wore matching thigh high boots that ended just before a pair of black garters attached to her lingerie by straps on the exposed parts of her legs, long magenta gloves that reached her biceps and a witch's hat on her head with a light purple band.
Naturally, Vanessa wore her Black Bulls robe over it with the split on the middle to accommodate her large breasts and she walked with a confident gait. Akame was by her side, her own posture calm by ready, as she wore her usual black dress and tie with her robe over it though she was just small enough in the bust department to wear the robe with its normal cut. They were Magic Knights and proud of it even if the Black Bulls had a negative reputation.
Akame didn't care for this though and was just looking around in wonder at all Kikka had to offer, and hunger at the food options that she could see and smell, but Vanessa had promised her that she'd find some of the best, most exotic, meats in the Black Market which Akame was eagerly waiting for. It was because of all this wonder around her that she didn't notice where she was going and walked straight into another woman walking along the paved street holding a bag to her chest and trying to read a book at the same time.
The impact sent Akame and the other woman sprawling but while the other woman let out a shocked wail, comically tossed the bag and book into the air scattering it everywhere that drew attention to them, and her glassed flew off, Akame just rolled with it and popped up. Her years of training ensured that she could easily recover from such a collision, and the accident had jarred her into remembering her surroundings and she scolded herself for being so careless.
"I'm so sorry, that was my fault." Akame said hurrying over to the girl she'd knocked on her ass who appeared to be wearing a sleeveless lilac cheongsam with detached sleeves about as long as Vanessa's gloves without the glove part and bordered in black and offering her hand to the woman to help her out. "Here, let me help you up."
The woman also wore a Magic Knight robe over her shoulders. In her case it was a simple one the same size as Akame's thought the fastening was in the same style as Vanessa's to accommodate for breasts. That was the first sign of which squad it was for as there was only one squad who's normal design was like that. Akame didn't need to see that the color of the robe was royal blue to know that it had a crest of a gold rose with thorny briars under it and inside a gold shield on the back and that was just from the design of the robe though of course Akame did note that the robe was blue.
The robe showed that the girl she'd knocked over was a member of the misandrist Blue Rose Knights, though Akame wasn't going to assume that this girl was as sexist as her Captain was as apparently many of the women of the Blue Rose Knights were not as extremely anti male as Captain Charlotte was. The robe may have been designed to be open at the front, but it was clear with this girl that she had needed it as she had an impressive bust that had to be a shade or two larger than Akame's and which was teased with a cut out at the top of her dress.
"Huh, oh no it's my fault." The other girl, who Akame pegged as around 3 or 4 years older than her so around 18 or 19, said in a slightly airy voice that was unnaturally familiar to Akame's ears. "I should have been looking where I was walking. I'm such an airhead."
At that the girl looked up and Akame, who was about to help her up, recoiled at the sight of the girl's face, her eyes wide. The face she was now looking at was one she knew all too well. It was a cute face with purple eyes a few shades darker than her cheongsam and matching her long hair that fell around her and framed her face well with bangs even chopper than Akame's. However, of everything, the most noticeable feature was the small, slightly crescent, scar on the woman's cheek just under her right eye.
"Sheele?" Akame said the name coming to her lips before she could process it as she backed up a few paces her eyes still wide.
"Huh?" The girl asked as her eyes squinted, clearly she had terrible vision without her glasses and couldn't make out Akame at all. "You know my name? Are you a Blue Rose as well, sorry I'm such a klutz that I don't meet the new members for a bit."
Akame didn't say anymore, not because she didn't want to but because she suddenly couldn't. The moment she'd spoke Sheele's name, and the woman had confirmed it by answering her, the block in Akame's mind shattered, and the memories of her past life flooded her in one unstoppable go causing a massive headache.
Instantly she backed up even further, suddenly afraid and unable to process things clearly. All she knew was that all those feelings, those latent skills, had a sudden explanation and she needed to sort them out right away. That meant one thing, she needed to get back to the hideout and fast.
"Sorry Vanessa, I have to go." Akame said looking around and breathing a sigh of relief to see Finral up the road trying and clearly failing to chat up a few woman. "Um, it's started, you know, mother nature's curse on women and it's a little early this month so I wasn't ready for it."
Vanessa, who'd been using her Threat Magic to pick up what the other knight had dropped, not that she had any love for the Blue Rose Knights, but it was the right thing to do, and had just picked up the book which had turned out to be the young woman's grimoire, turned to look at Akame having missed the exchange she'd just had with the other Magic Knight. Her junior should have stayed to help but she saw the look of pain in Akame's eyes and knew that feeling all too well. When a period came it came and if you weren't ready for it, well it could be rather embarrassing regardless of what you were wearing.
"Of course, is Finral nearby?" Vanessa asked and Akame nodded as she pointed up the street to where he was. "Alright go, I'll sort this out, but you owe me."
"I'll make it up to you, I promise." Akame said before running off, and Vanessa winced as she saw a trickle of blood start to make its way down the inside of Akame's left thigh and understood the raven-haired girl's sudden rush as she called back out to Vanessa as she ran. "Thank you."
Vanessa just turned back to the grimoire she'd picked up and looked at it. It was the same shade of lilac as the girl's dress with a black border that had accents on it and a black three leaf clover in the center. The really odd thing about it though was that under the clover was a large pair of open scissors similar to how Charmy's grimoire had a pair of crossed cutlery there.
"Sorry for my teammate, she's never been here before and wasn't looking where she was going which is actually unlike her." Vanessa said to the fallen girl as she finished putting the things that had been scattered back in her bag and grabbed her glasses with a threat that she then gently placed over the purple haired woman's eyes allowing her to see as she saw Akame run through a portal that Finral made without breaking stride. "Here, I collected your things and I'll make sure she pays for anything that has been damaged, but she's got a womanly emergency and had to leave."
"No, it is ok, I shouldn't have been walking and reading but I just learned a new spell and wanted to see what my grimoire was saying about it as I walked which was clearly a bad idea." The girl said dismissively as Vanessa helped her to her feet with her threats and gave her back her things. "It was kind of you to help, most would just leave me as this is pretty common for me."
"Like you I'm a Magic Knight, it is my duty to help." Vanessa said with a smile. "Though I must admit, I am curious as to what your magic is as I've never seen a grimoire like yours."
"Oh, I have Scissor Magic." The woman said. "It's pretty rare apparently and I haven't met another with it but then again you seem to have a strange magic as well, so I guess we're similar there."
"Yeah I have Threat Magic, so I understand." Vanessa said surprised at how friendly the other girl was, most Blue Rose Knights were either dismissive or arrogant, but this girl was neither. "Vanessa by the way, I'm a Black Bull."
"Sheele." Sheele said with a nod of her head, her hands were now full so she couldn't shake though she had at least put her grimoire away in a purple satchel that she had on her lower back. "And I can see, I'm a Blue Rose Knight as you can tell."
"You're much friendlier than the others I've met from your squad." Vanessa said bluntly. "Not that I've met many in my time and I've never met your Captain."
"I'm only a member because my magic is strong enough for the Magic Knights, but no one wanted me because of my clumsiness." Sheele said. "Only Captain Charlotte would take me and only because I'm a girl who she saw defeat some guys that were harassing me but I'm glad she has, and the others have accepted me as well. They're not all that bad by the way, most don't have any issues with men, in fact they really like men, and several have boyfriends but are too afraid of Charlotte's disapproval though I think she secretly likes a guy but is too stubborn to admit it. Sol is the only one who is really misandrist I'd say but she's really strong and nice to me so it's all good."
"Interesting." Vanessa said surprised by that but some part of her was on edge about this Captain Charlotte for some reason that she couldn't understand. "Well, I shouldn't leave you, I need to get back to make sure my squad mate is ok as her monthly did suddenly creep up on her."
"Yes I should get back as well, don't want to be out late, last time that happened things got a little bloody for the men who tried to attack me." Sheele said confusing Vanessa but she just shrugged and parted ways with the strange woman and continued on with her day before she went back to make sure Akame was ok.
While all this was happening, Akame had been running towards Finral as fast as she could without using reinforcement magic on her legs. She'd use her period, which was still a week away if she had her schedule right, as an excuse and to add to it she'd created a tiny blade with her magic between her legs and nicked her inner thigh just enough to allow for a trickle of blood to begin to run down her leg. That would add to it all as she hurried away and towards Finral.
"Finral, portal, now." Akame yelled at him causing him and the women he was clearly failing to chat up to look at her in confusion as she ran right towards him. "I have a womanly emergency going on and need to get back to base."
Finral wasn't sure what that meant but he saw the look in Akame's eyes, a mix of pain, desperation, and a 'I'll gut you from pelvis to throat with several of my blades if you don't act right now' look that made Finral act at once. He didn't want to be on Akame's bad side, he'd seen her during the mission to end the underground assassin base that had forged her and, well, he'd had a few nightmares about how emotionless she was when she cut down those assassins without even a shred of mercy or hesitation.
Their newest recruit was a cold-blooded killer for sure even if she was fiercely loyal to her friends and had begun to really open up and have fun with the squad during their down time. As such, Finral did as instructed made the portal and sent her on her way without any complaint.
Akame was glad and never broke strike as she plunged through the portal and back to base, the portal vanishing behind her the moment she was through it. She wouldn't know but her actions and Finral's quick timing had actually helped him with the ladies as they believed he was helping out a teammate in her time of the month without an issue or hesitation and really liked how considerate he was for a female teammate, not that Finral went any further as he would screw it up later but still, it had helped.
She'd learn all that later, for now Akame was just focused on rushing through the doors of the base, through the common room, which was thankfully empty as it was a day off, and into the living quarters. From there she dashed up to her room as fast as possible, barged in, and shut the door behind her with a crash. As soon as she'd locked it, she staggered forward a few paces before she collapsed on the floor and pulled herself into the fetal position as she let the memories flood back to her at last.
Akame wasn't sure how long she spent on the floor of her room in the fetal position as the memories of her past life came back to her, but she did, just lying there and silently weeping as it all came back. There wasn't much she could do but just let it all hit her and deal with it as she lay there.
Nothing was left out, her whole former life flashed in her mind as she processed it. Everything from when she was sold with her sister Kurume to the assassination squad, the training and survival she'd done there, separation from Kurome and their different paths as assassins for the Empire, her growing dissatisfaction of, and resentment to, the Empire, the mission to kill Najenda but instead defecting to join the rebels and help form Night Raid and all that she'd done as a part of Night Raid. It all came back to her.
It was an ordeal for sure as the emotions of everything came back. All the lives she'd taken, all the suffering she'd been through, the losses of her friends and family, the deaths of her comrades before she defected, then the deaths of Sheele, Bulat, Chelsea, Lubbock, Mine, killing Kurume, and finally Tatsumi's death in her arms and her own death a short while later at the hands of Esdeath after inflicting a mortal wound on the psychopathic general. It was all there and in some ways eerily similar to her new life as she tried to get it all together in her mind.
There was a lot to deal with, a full-on tsunami as Akame tried to come to terms with how she could now remember her old life, how she'd somehow been reborn in a new world with the same appearance and skills that had to be derived from her last life while also having similar experiences to her last life and a magical attribute that was clearly tied to her use of the Imperial Arms Murasame, and how it all fitted together. She had to process it and had no one to help her with it as she sobbed on the ground, the flood of memories crashing again and again against her head but with each crash it was lessened as she slowly processed it all.
The way she managed to do that was by focusing on her old life and forcing herself to go through it from start to finish from what she could remember. It was painful, the trauma she'd been through back then would have destroyed many, but she'd been a survivor and had done so until the very end when that promise was broken, when he'd failed to survive like he promised her he would.
That was what had done it in the end, what had allowed her to let her guard down and be killed by Esdeath after she'd landed the mortal blow on the older woman. However, in all honesty she'd been fine with that because a new life in a new Empire without her love by her side to see it with her would have been hard for her.
That made Akame smile as she remembered her love for Tatsumi, how she'd fallen so hard for him when they were together, not that she'd noticed that she was falling for him until it was too late, and had used his promise to fight on until he sacrificed himself to save the city. It was that love that had been the warmth she'd felt all these years she realized, the memory of how her heart belonged to Tatsumi that had given her the strength to fight on and survive no matter what she went through.
She hadn't understood why until today, until she saw Sheele and remembered her past did she realize what was motivating her to go on. It had been a memory of one person dear to her that had done it, that had kept her going to reach this point that she was finally free of being used as a killing machine for the second time only now she wasn't wanted by the government that she'd deserted but rather was actively serving a man in the government who embodied what she wanted. She'd accomplished this because of him.
Tatsumi. He was what was motivating her to survive and carry on but after today there was something more to it because he had to be here in this new life as well. There was no doubt to Akame, that woman was that she'd run into was the Sheele she knew reborn in this world. Even if Sheele herself didn't know, Akame did and that had to mean that Tatsumi was here as well.
The others might be to, well other than Leone probably as she likely survived that final battle as Akame didn't actually know her fate having died in the battle herself, but she didn't want to get ahead of herself. She had her duty but now she knew she had another mission, one to find Tatsumi here in this new world that she was sure he was in with her.
The best thing to come from all of this as Akame finally managed to get her mind under control, she could do so by separating her lives, then comparing them and accepting that it was all just part of her soul for some reason, was that this explained everything. It explained why she had these strange feelings, the odd similarities, and her skills, she finally knew the reason for it.
It was because they were all her past life coming through the cracks in whatever that block was. Hell, Mushroom Head had found that she had a block that was cracked in her memory which had to be what was preventing her from accessing those memories until today when she saw Sheele again and they all came back to her. Well, now she'd have to tell him, Yami, and the Wizard King for that matter, that the block was almost certainly gone and who knows maybe Julius could help her understand why she had been reborn.
At least that was Akame's plan until it was driven from her mind by a knocking at her door and a concerned voice calling out to her. That was when she remembered that she'd just abandoned Vanessa in Kikka and had rushed back.
"Akame, are you ok?" Vanessa's voice called out. "Sorry I wasn't back sooner, I got distracted by that girl you bumped into and still had to run an errand in the Black Market."
"No, it's ok, honestly." Akame said through the door as she wiped her face, but she didn't want to let Vanessa see that she'd been crying as she wasn't sure she could explain it. "I needed to be alone anyway, the cramps were getting pretty bad but I'm feeling a little better now and have things in order."
"Alright good to hear, I'll have Charmy's sheep make some tea for them later and I'm sure she can mold her cotton into something absorbent to help out if it's particularly heavy this month." Vanessa said. "Though personally I prefer to be hammered through mine, you don't realize anything if your drunk."
"Of course, you would Vanessa." Akame said with a laugh. "And thank you. Um, is the girl ok? The one o bumped into that is."
"Oh, you mean Sheele, that's her name by the way, yeah she's fine." Vanessa said though Akame already knew her name. "She took the blame for it but if you see her again you should make it up to her."
"I will, don't worry about it." Akame said still remembering Sheele's favorite snack and seeing if she could recreate it, but she did have a question for Vanessa about Sheele. "Um, you didn't happen to catch what magic that girl had? If she's a Magic Knight it could be an interesting kind."
"It is, she was reading her grimoire, so I asked about it after seeing it as it had an interesting design to it." Vanessa said. "She's actually a little like you, she has Scissor Magic of all things, I've never heard of that but then again I've never heard of Blade Magic and I'm the only Thread Mage I know so it makes sense. Hell, Yami, Charmy, Gauche, and Gordon are all the only mages with their attributes that I know as well though at least in Gordon's case Poison Magic isn't as rare as the others so I am sure there are other Poison Mages out there."
"Yeah there really is a good range of magical attributes here." Akame said but that magic with Sheele, it had to be tied to Extase, the scissors of creation, Sheele's Imperial Arms from their past life which meant that the girl was defiantly Sheele reborn. "Anyway, thanks, I'll be down in a bit once I've got this fully under control."
"Of course, and you owe me some good wine later." Vanessa said with a laugh before she walked away.
Akame just smiled at that, she would get her friend some of the best she could afford when the time came as thanks for helping her out today and not asking too many questions that Akame wasn't ready to answer just yet. For now, though she had a lot to process on her own which she did in her room.
When that was done, Akame finally got up, dashed to the washroom to wash her face and clean the blood off her leg, and then went downstairs to join the others who'd all returned by this point having had various degrees of fun on their day off. As always there was plenty of food and Akame ate her large fill with Charmy while chatting with her squad mates before she retired for the night a little earlier than usual as she was quite tired, which after the day she'd had was understandable.
As soon as she was in her room, Akame closed the door and sighed as she got ready for bed. She had certainly not expected what had happened today to happen, but she was glad it did because it had finally answered a lot of unanswered things in Akame's life.
"Tatsumi." Akame said softly to her empty room as she got into bed and laid down to stare at the ceiling a smile on her face. "I remember it all now and if Sheele is here then you have to be as well, I know it because I feel it in my heart. I hope you're ok and doing well. I swear I'll find you my love and this time I won't hesitate to tell you how I feel. Stay strong and survive, I'm coming Tatsumi."
With that Akame fell asleep to her vow, the image of her love's smiling face in her mind at last glad to have her memories back and to understand all her feelings over the years. She was a Magic Knight, so she still had her duties but in time she'd make the time to find him, she swore it. The last thought that passed her mind as she drifted off to sweet dreams of meat and Tatsumi was to wonder what he'd been up to since his rebirth and hope that he was doing well in this new life that they were in.
Well, there it is, the moment needed to destroy the block on her mind has come and Akame now remembers her past life and it explains everything for her. Add in that she's finally broken free from her past, a story I decided to skip as it would have detracted from the overall main story but if there is enough support for an Akame ga Clover Zero then I will tell it as the final arc, and things are really looking up for her. She has a new lease on life, her memories of her previous life have returned, and she has a new personal mission to try and work on when she has the time unless fate decides to do things differently for her who knows. For those wondering the reason why Sheele, and yes that is the reborn Sheele which will confirm to y'all that all of Night Raid at least have been reborn in this world, didn't have the same reaction was because she lost her glasses so she couldn't actually see Akame properly and as Akame's name wasn't mentioned by Vanessa there was nothing to even come close to triggering the removal of her block, for the moment at least. Anyway, that concludes Akame's intro arc and with the ending of this chapter I am sure y'all can guess what is coming next so stay tuned as we move into the next intro arc of this series. That is all I have for y'all though so I will leave this chapter off here. If you liked it then please follow, favorite, review, PM, etc. it is all appreciated and helps me get better and stay motivated to keep producing more content and any questions asked I will do my best to answer both privately and at the start of the next chapter. Until next time.
