Here is the ninth chapter in this story released when I wanted it to be released based of my release process for this series. Both Akame and Tatsumi have completed their intro arcs, come together, confessed their feelings for each other, shared their first kiss, and told the Black Bulls the truth but they still need to confirm it with the Wizard King and Marx so that is what they are going to do now. The only thing to really add here is a clarification reminder and that is that this story is currently based solely on the anime for Akame ga Kill and not the manga when it comes the characters and their backstories so anything that the manga did different to the filler part likely won't be in this story but I may change that in time if there is something I really like from the manga and work it in for later things I have planned in this story as there are things I'll be adding in time and I may use the manga as a base for them. That is all I have for the administrative stuff I have for y'all and there are no guest reviews that need a response or questions to answer without it being a spoiler for something to come so I will end this here. Do keep them coming as your support is the best motivation for me to keep producing chapters at this kind of rate. That is it for this pre-chapter note so it is time to sit back and enjoy the ninth chapter in Akame ga Clover.
Disclaimer: I own nothing related to these two great animes.
Chapter 9: Meeting
It took a few days for the meeting with the Wizard King to be set up. He was a busy man after all and unlike when Akame met him, this wasn't as pressing an issue as three assassination attempts on Magic Knight Captains in short succession, so they had to wait for the moment. Yami still contacted Mushroom Head directly rather than HQ as this was a sensitive matter because it pertained to information only himself, Julius and Mushroom Head were aware of which did speed up the process. It helped that Akame's year in review in regard to her suspended sentence was coming up so they could use that as cover for the meeting.
As such, less than a week after Tatsumi had joined the Black Bulls and been reunited with Akame, Finral opened a portal for them and Yami, who was going to accompany them just in case Julius got distracted or he was needed in the meeting as well, to the Royal Capital where they'd go and meet the Wizard King. Finral was given the afternoon off, so he rushed off to find some pretty ladies to try and sweet talk while the others just headed into Magic Knight Headquarters.
It had been an interesting few days for Tatsumi. After his baptism, they had partied late into the night and he'd crashed in his room, a standard one for new members of the Black Bulls, before seeing Magna in the morning for a tour. That's when he learned of the hideouts odd habit of changing it's internal layout without warning that had never been explained to the Squad, what the baths and dining room looked like so he could find them, and the trap magic around the girls' rooms. That just meant that in time Akame would join him in his room, but they were far from that point at the moment.
After that Tatsumi was given his chores, mainly cleaning around the hideout, feeding Yami's magical beasts, and doing the laundry which was not sex segregated. That last one was, well, a dangerous proposition for him as Vanessa's absolutely shameless nature ensured that he was washing her laundry, including her rather large bras that only Esdeath and Leone exceeded, based on Tatsumi's unprofessional assessment of course. However, he was now a taken man, so that was where the danger lay, especially when your woman was someone like Akame.
Still, Tatsumi did his job, finding Akame's underwear there as well which was nice in his opinion, and settled into life with the Black Bulls. It was basically just training and doing missions for the Wizard King or average citizens, which few of them seemed to actually do, but for the moment Tatsumi wasn't on mission duty due to the impending meeting with the Wizard King.
As such he trained, did his chores glad that cooking wasn't one of them as Charmy had that covered, and spent time with Akame and the others. He did his best to get to know his squad and answer any questions that they might have about his and Akame's past lives, though Yami had stressed that what he and Akame had told them was to stay within the Squad, and generally prepare for when he started missions. Naturally, the best part was being back with Akame.
Now that they had finally confessed they could be together but at the same time they were still awkward teens, so it wasn't more than hand holding, cuddling, and making out when they got a moment. They were after all a sheltered village boy who's experience with women was limited to his encounters with Esdeath and a girl who'd never really had a childhood or understood that kind of thing, though at least with Tatsumi, Akame could be more expressive of how she felt.
That was where Vanessa came in and began giving Akame lessons on this and how to use her womanly ways to make him happy. In typical Akame fashion she absorbed them fully but was far too embarrassed to act on them just yet. It wasn't like she didn't want to do those things with Tatsumi, she did, and she was starting to really understand that side of life more, she just wasn't ready for that, and neither was Tatsumi, so they were more than happy with what they were comfortable with.
Of course, training still happened and neither let their relationship get in the way, they were as intense as ever when they trained together with more dedication to it than most. They knew they could trust each other in battle and would protect the other but also knew that the mission came first so could keep their feelings in check when needed. It was all a surprise to the rest of the Squad who mostly did their own things, but it may help them shape up in the long run. That was a big reach for the Black Bulls, but one never knew what could make a Squad better.
That had been the last few days but now they were in the Capital and Tatsumi was marveling at the sheer size of the place as they made their way to headquarters behind Yami. As this was official business, they were both in their full outfits, including gloves and grieves, and in serious mode so they weren't holding hands like they would have wanted to. Next time, though, Akame wanted to have a proper date day with Tatsumi in the Capital or Kikka or even just Nean where they could be a couple in public and Tatsumi did want to treat his girlfriend to a proper day out.
In time though, first they had to meet the Wizard King and were serious as they made their way into the Headquarters building and Yami led them to Julius's personal office where they'd have the meeting. Marx was waiting outside for them, and after Yami introduced him, as Mushroom Head of course, to Tatsumi, he led them into the small office so that it was just the 5 of them.
Julius Novachrono, the 28th Wizard King of the Clover Kingdom, sat behind his desk grumbling about the paper work that Marx was having him do. He wanted to be out seeing the kingdom in disguise so that he knew how best to serve it and learning more about magic, but he was here.
Thankfully, he was meeting Yami, and he'd been briefed that this pertained to Akame and his latest recruit, a commoner from the forsaken realm with an interesting type of magic that was very rare but not unheard of. Julius as such could stomach the paperwork as it would all go away for this meeting where he could learn more about said rare magical attribute and now that it was on them he put it down and looked up at the three Black Bulls.
"Ah Yami, sorry you had to wait a few days, but you know how it is." Julius said as he rose and walked around the desk to look at the others as he gestured back to his desk. "There's been a lot of paperwork to get through in the wake of the entrance exam."
"Yeah, yeah I know." Yami said puffing on his cigarette. "It's fine, we needed a few days to process things ourselves as this is unprecedent as far as I know, so it worked out."
"Intriguing." Julius said before looking to Akame and noticing that she was both more relaxed and happier than she'd been last time he'd seen her, so he reached out with his magic and was surprised by what he felt. "And Akame, your magic feels a little different now, stronger, more sure of itself in a way. It's almost as if it's become whole in a way which I don't understand but really want to know how because I've never seen this with magic before."
"That is tied to what we are here to discuss sir." Akame said seriously, Tatsumi was a little taken aback by her attitude, it was a bit like how she'd been with Najenda only stronger in a sense, not loyalty wise but more because the Wizard King actually had power here so he could get things done that Najenda couldn't until they won, which they did but didn't see. "I noticed myself when it happened but Tatsumi arriving completed it for me in a certain way and I am sure that his magic as similarly been affected."
"So that makes you Tatsumi." Julius said before he was suddenly in Tatsumi's face with stars for eyes that caused him to take a step back from the now child-like Wizard King. "Is it true? You're magical attribute it armor, right? That's super rare, only one other mage has been known to have that attribute that I've heard of. Can you tell me more about it?"
"Um sure." Tatsumi said backing up a bit, a little overwhelmed. "What do you want to know?"
"Sir." Marx said. "Restrain yourself."
"He's like this Tatsumi, this is his default setting I think." Akame said with a sigh. "At least he's heard of Armor Magic before, he hadn't heard of my Blade Magic. If it wasn't for the situation at the time he would have been more intense, I'm sure of it."
"So how does it work?" Julius asked still excited. "Armor Magic that is, like what can you do with it? Fuegoleon won't let me ask his Armor Mage, so I haven't heard more than just the attribute itself. It's fascinating."
"Well, basically, I can create armor of sorts." Tatsumi said with a shrug unsure how else to explain his magic. "Anything from a shield to certain kinds of armor, like full suits in a sense that have different pros and cons to them, with the best of the them being my Incursio spell which, um, is different. I have a binding spell and a support one as well, but I've not had a chance to use them properly in battle yet. My final spell is some kind of torture device, so I don't use that one."
"Well as a Magic Knight you will use all but the last one." Julius said. "I can't wait to see how they work. Can you show me some of your magic? Please?"
"Sir, you are busy so can we move this along." Marx said before looking to Yami. "Yami, you said this had to do with Akame and your new recruit that could only be told to us so tell us what it is?"
"Akame, you were supposed to mention this when it happened so may as well say it now." Yami said. "Go on, tell them."
"Right." Akame said turning to the Wizard King and his assistant and starting to get a little nervous. "Well, um, remember that block I had in my memory, the one that Mushroom Head found with his spell?"
"Of course." Julius said getting serious his eyes narrowing while Marx just grumbled at his name not being used but couldn't really do much about it at the moment. "I take it that it's not there anymore."
"No sir, it, er, broke." Akame said gulping before adding. "A few months back actually."
"Really?" Julius asked stars in his eyes again. "How? What was it? Magic? If so what kind of magic?"
"Sir, this isn't the time for that." Marx said before correcting himself when he realized that for once his boss and friend's obsession with magic might actually be applicable in this situation. "Ok, it may be but there is still the fact that Akame was supposed to tell Yami if it happened, and he'd relay it to us. This could have been dangerous."
"Oh right." Julius said coming back to earth and looking at Akame with a serious look again as Tatsumi tried to follow the rapid changes that went through the Wizard King. "Marx is right, why didn't you tell us?"
"Well, um, it was rather sudden and jarring and, er, when I processed it all something kinda occupied my mind as I realized what the removal of the block meant." Akame said going a little red, she wasn't very good at all this intense questioning, so her awkward side was coming out. "It, kinda, just happened one day in Kikka. I accidentally ran into someone because I was taking everything in as it was my first time in Kikka, and when I went to help her and saw who she was the block kinda shattered. My mind was flooded with what it held, and I had to get back to process it."
"What do you mean?" Marx asked. "Process what?"
"The block was on memories as you noted so when they came back and I recovered from the sudden flood of a lifetime of memories returning to me, I, um, well, I kinda realized something." Akame said unsure how to phrase it but when no one interrupted her she just went on. "I realize that if Sheele was here then Tatsumi had to be as well because both of us had died so I had to do something about that because he died before I could confess my love to him in our last lives. As such all I could think of was trying to find him when I had the time. Then I fell asleep, and it slipped my mind to tell you until Tatsumi just showed up as a new member I realized I should have told you about it."
"I don't understand any of that." Julius said helpfully looking from Akame to the young man by her side, Tatsumi, and back again. "You're saying that Tatsumi here was someone from your past? Same with that woman you ran into, Sheele you said her name was. Are they like you, assassins trained by that illegal school that we shut down."
"Well past is true and yes both are, or rather were, assassins with me though neither were trained the way I was." Akame said. "But it was not in this life. You see, the block that I had, Tatsumi too until he saw me the other day at the hideout when he joined, was on our past lives."
"Basically, it's like we were reborn or reincarnate here, sir." Tatsumi said trying to explain it as best he could to help Akame out. "We died about 15 or 16 years ago, we haven't really tried to figure out if years are different here than they were last time, in a past life that was in a different world, one without magic, or at least without the magic we have here. Then, for whatever reason, we were reborn here with same names and appearances, but our memories of our last life were blocked. As we got older feelings and skills began to seep out, weird stuff that we couldn't explain, but then seeing one of the others who'd died back then seemed to have been what broke the block."
"It was certainly weird." Yami said with a sigh as he gave his own side of the story. "Tatsumi arrived and Akame recognized him right away without any introduction which made no sense. Next thing we know they're on the floor embracing and crying, ranting about their past life and deaths before getting all gross and confessing their love and making out. That's when I had to intervein. They told me and the rest of the Squad that was present their tale. It's hard to believe but I saw Akame's memories with Mushroom Head's spell, so I knew of the block there which lent credence to her story. Figured they needed to come here and tell you in person to confirm it though."
"Yes that was the right thing to do." Julius said stroking his chin as he thought on what he was hearing, this was a lot to process but thankfully there was a very easy way to verify all of this. "I am going to need the full story and I am going to have to request that it be told here and now under Marx's magic so that we can verify its truthfulness. Akame, Tatsumi, will you agree to that?"
"Akame?" Tatsumi asked looking at her. "What kind of spell is this?"
"It's a spell that puts the affected into a kinda trance where they can only tell the truth while their memories are revealed to all present." Akame explained. "Mushroom Head used it on me after I was captured and brought to him and the Wizard King by Yami. It was used to verify my history in this world and help begin the investigation into those who'd made me."
"It was certainly helpful there." Julius said. "Really helped us narrow down their base and once we had that, and the Black Bulls raided it to get their records, we were able to really deal with the nobles who'd funded that abomination."
"It was good to get back at them for sure." Akame agreed. "And to help me trust the Wizard King would help us Mushroom Head used it on him to show to me that he was on our side, that he's like Najenda and devoted to stamping out corruption and making this nation better for all just like we wanted in our past life. At the time my memories of that life were blocked, that spell actually revealed the block though it had cracks in it which were the feelings and skills leaking out, but I knew that that was what I wanted so agreed to serve the Magic Knights so long as it was with the Black Bulls."
"Alright then if you say it can be trusted then I'll agree to this because I trust you Akame." Tatsumi said looking to the bowl cut man. "Use that spell on me Mushroom Head, if it works as Akame says then you'll see the truth of what we're saying."
"I'm going to use it on both of you and it's Marx." Marx said his grimoire opening to the right page as he hand was outstretched, his magic glowing. "Memory Exchange Magic: Memoire Absolue."
Instantly the domes appeared above the teens' heads and the memory tree appeared as they fell into the trances that the spell caused. This time however, there was no gray blank in Akame's memories, that area at the top was suddenly larger and showed scenes of places none of the three men present had seen on this continent, nor Yami in his homeland. Tatsumi had a lot of similar images in his higher branches along with other images that showed things he'd done different to Akame and vice versa.
"It's certainly larger than it should be for people of their age." Marx said as he stared at the images at the top. "And the memories there are like another life, they're above their earliest memories from here but show them at about the same age they are now and getting younger."
"So interesting." Julius said looking up at the older memories. "Well, ask away Marx. Yami, if you could help confirm that this is all part of their story to you the other day."
"Sure." Yami said with a nod.
"Alright, can you understand me?" Marx said looking at Akame and Tatsumi.
"Yes." The pair answered together.
"Ok first question then." Marx said. "Is this your first life that you remember?"
"No." Both said in unison. "We have died before."
"Well, that is true, my spell ensures they can't lie and there are no spells on their minds that I can tell of." Marx said. "Time for the full story. Akame, starting with you, tell me your life story, your first life that you remember that is."
What followed was an hour and change of Akame and Tatsumi telling their stories under the compulsion of Marx's spell. Akame started and it was for the best as she did have a longer, more interesting life than Tatsumi had had.
She told the three men all of her past life from the moment she was sold to the Empire with Kurome, through her survival and training as an assassin for the corrupt Empire, her kills for them, her first weapon that wasn't an Imperial Arms before taking up Murasame and what it did, and then her mission to kill Najenda. From there it was her defection from the Empire and work for Night Raid, the kills she did to help the revolution, finding Tatsumi and his recruitment, the missions following that, the deaths of her friends, and the final war to take the Imperial Capital, all of it was seen by them.
It certainly was a lot, but they pushed through it, shocked by what had happened to her including Akame killing her own sister, up until her own death. It was beyond what anyone her age should have gone through, but Marx's spell couldn't be resisted so they had to accept that what she was telling was the truth and they corroborated it with Tatsumi's story.
His was shorter as most of his early life was in the village he grew up in so not as bad as Akame's upbringing had been. It wasn't until the last few months that were the important stuff was as that was when Tatsumi crossed paths with Akame and Night Raid.
That happened after his trip to the Imperial Capital, the conning of Leone, the twisted noble family who had offered him help, his fight with Akame that he survived by luck effectively, his realization of how corrupt the Empire truly was and the deaths of his friends at the hands of the evil nobles who planned on killing him as well, his first kill, then joining Night Raid for the sake of his village and so on. The rest from there was more or less the same as Akame's though they did see Bulat's death in detail, same with Mine's, as only Tatsumi was present for both as well as his own death at the end.
With all that Julius still had some more questions about their rebirth in the Clover Kingdom which the pair answered as well. They were telling the truth, they hadn't known until the blocks were gone and Akame was going to report it for hers but her love for Tatsumi, which by this point Julius and Marx understood that the pair were now a couple, and desire to find him trumped her duty to report and she forgot. That was until Tatsumi returned and got his own memories back. Tatsumi was the same, so it all added up.
As all this was going on Julius was thinking hard on what he was hearing. He was an uncontrollable magic geek and embraced that side of himself as much as he could by learning from books and traveling the country in disguise. It was why he loved finding new magics like Akame's Blade Magic, and why he was thinking so hard about the situation before him at the moment.
What the pair before him proved was that rebirth or reincarnation, whichever word you liked as it was clear to Julius that their souls had been reborn in the Clover Kingdom, was real and could happen. However, given what they were saying and their natures, it wasn't the kind of reincarnation that Julius had read about.
That kind was ancient, forbidden, magic that humans couldn't wield, or at least not without a cost as far as he knew, and was from another world, the world of the devils. Julius knew little about Reincarnation Magic, though, as not much was written on it, and he'd not seen it first hand, but he did know of the concept. He also knew that the use of it had a habit of warping a person by afflicting that person with something called wicked heart which magnified negative emotions and these two clearly weren't warped like that.
No, they were basically the same as they had been in their past lives and somehow forged similarly as if Fate itself was dictating it to them in some way. It was all quite fascinating to Julius, especially because he knew his own existence as the only known Time Mage in history and wielding a coverless grimoire was clearly an aberration as well. He'd found his purpose however, the reason why he was here, and in large part thanks to the first commoner to make the Magic Knights, Zara Ideale, and the tragic nature of his death at the hands of his own noble squad mates who couldn't stand having a commoner in their ranks.
It was clear to Julius at least that these two were also part of some fateful kickback or balance that had placed him here. If he trusted Damnatio Kira he'd ask the man to look at it with his Scale Magic but, well, he didn't fully trust the royal who headed the Magic Parliament. No, this was something that would have to remain confidential and close to the vest. He could trust Yami and Marx, and the Black Bulls were basically the perfect squad for this given their reputation and lack of familial or noble ties, but there was a slight issue.
As Akame had shown, this was not just limited to the Black Bulls. Sheele, the first of their friends to die after Tatsumi joined Night Raid, was clearly here and a member of the Blue Rose Knights but might not have her memories back. Also, based on what Julius was hearing about the others of that Night Raid, well, he was certain they were here as well if their magic followed the same rules as Akame and Tatsumi's seemed to do.
In fact, Julius was all but certain that they had to be. As the Wizard King he made it his duty to know all the Magic Knights, it was why he would sneak out on the first days off for each squad after the entrance exam to observe their new members, so he was sure that all the names they'd mentioned bar Najenda and Leone had been reborn. Those two were unknown because of Akame, the latter of the two to die, hadn't know their fates when she died, but the remaining members of that team were here, well the human ones.
What's more, all had ended up as Magic Knights. There was clearly more at play to have them here and like that and Julius was going to get to the bottom of it, but this would have to be rather discrete given the nature of what was going on. He'd let the others present know and allow the Black Bulls to be in the know, but that was it. Only the Captains of the others would be notified and even then it wouldn't be right away. Thankfully to become a Magic Knight Captain one had to be trusted implicitly, which was why betrayal of that trust was a serious offense, so Julius was certain they'd be helpful when the time came.
"End the spell Marx." Julius said seriously. "We've learned what we can and there is now a lot to discuss."
"Sir." Marx said with a nod and the spell ended causing Akame and Tatsumi to blink a bit at that.
"That was weird." Tatsumi said. "Like I was in a dream or something and I couldn't resist the questions being asked of me."
"It's not a thrilling experience." Akame said. "But it does serve what we need."
"Very true and I know that I speak for all of us when I say what you said under that spell was the truth." Julius said. "You really are reborn souls from another world. It is utterly fascinating and something that I've never encountered before."
"We may be reborn, but we are part of this world as well." Tatsumi said. "We were born here, grew up, learned our magic…"
"Dealt with what I had to deal with." Akame added helpfully.
"That." Tatsumi said. "So, we are part of this world too, just a little extra for some reason."
"Yes you are and I'm glad that you see it that way." Julius said with a smile. "This is most unusual though so I ask that we keep this a secret, only us and the Black Bulls will know the full truth of what has happened for now."
"Given how unbelievable all this is that makes sense." Akame said. "And we will do what we can as Magic Knights to make sure that the Clover Kingdom does not become like the Empire did by the time of the last Emperor."
"No matter what." Tatsumi said seriously. "We remember our training and convictions; we won't let our new home become like our last one. It is far from it but as someone who grew up in the forsaken realm, I can see the similarities that in time could lead to what we dealt with in the decades and centuries to come."
"Alas that is true." Julius said. "And I am doing what I can to change that so having people like you is needed. The Black Bulls as a squad is perfectly suited to help here."
"Yeah our reputation is so bad that no one cares." Yami said with a laugh. "But it is what I wanted from it as I wanted a place for the misfits who didn't fit with the other squads."
"I made the right choice giving you and William squads after I became Wizard King." Julius said with a smile. "But there is still a few more things to address with this. First off though, Akame, you were supposed to let us know if that block was undone."
"I know sir." Akame said bowing her head. "I'm sorry for not doing so."
"It's not a big transgression in the end but it is a lie by omission in a sense even if your reasons weren't bad." Julius said resisting the urge to ask what magic the kids of mages with Blade and Armor Magic would have. "And given your current legal situation I have to take all of your actions into account. As such, I'll make this your first review of your suspended sentence and due to your failure to report the one thing you were told to report after passing your sentence I'm going to have to deny your early pardon at the one-year point. That doesn't mean that your sentence is changed, and as it has now been reported things should be easier, it just means that you're going to be on your suspended sentence for at least one more year."
"I understand." Akame said, so long as she could still serve the Black Bulls and the Wizard King in helping make the country better, and do so with Tatsumi by her side the entire time, she didn't mind. "I accept the situation."
"Um, good." Julius said a little taken aback by how blunt she was. "The other thing is the others of your Squad, this Night Raid."
"What of them?" Tatsumi asked, when he'd learned that Sheele was here he'd been ecstatic, this wasn't bringing someone back from the dead, Sheele had actually helped him move on from that after Sayo and Ieyasu had died, but this was a second chance. "Are they here? I know that Sheele is but are the others?"
"Sheele's existence does prove that at least one is." Julius said. "And the others, based on what you've told me about their Imperial Arms and how that seems to be tied to their magic attributes, I believe that they are also here and what's more are currently I think that they are all in the Magic Knights."
That instantly got a reaction from them, but Julius raised his hand and Yami growled at them before they could do anything as the Wizard King was still speaking. That was enough for them to be silent.
"However, I will ask that you not seek them out, at least not yet." Julius said. "If you run into them organically like you did with Sheele then that is fine and make sure that you are there for them should their blocks still be intact, but we don't know if the others have their memories back and as Akame said it is a jarring experience. I want to make sure that they are who I think they are before I decide how we proceed with them. Don't worry, I'll do this discreetly so as to not arouse suspicion. All that I ask that you trust me in this, and I promise I will repay that trust."
"As much as I don't like it, you are the head of the Magic Knights, so I do accept the order." Akame said. "And I understand the need to handle this delicately given what our existence means. Sheele didn't recognize me, I did knock her glasses off and she has terrible eyesight, so she'd not have seen my face clearly enough, and Vanessa said she didn't seem to be aware of me."
"I guess I can wait to see the others again." Tatsumi said. "Can you at least confirm that they are here. If they're here then who knows who else might be…"
"Tatsumi." Akame said taking his hand and squeezing it through their gloves knowing what he was thinking. "If they are here then we will find them, but our duties come first."
"I know and I will do my duty as a Magic Knight for the good of the kingdom first." Tatsumi said squeezing back. "I may not have had the kind of background as you or Sheele or Mine had back then, but I was committed and would have done was needed, even kill someone I considered a friend like Wave if he got in my way. As such I won't seek them out until we can properly prepare for this."
"Thank you, both of you." Julius said. "I will keep you informed of them, and we will keep an eye out for any reborn souls like you that go beyond those from Night Raid who you know died. There has to be a reason behind this, and we will find out. For now, though, go back to your duties. We still have the corrupt nobles who funded that assassin school and the survivors of that raid to deal with, you need to be ready for missions as they will be coming soon and yours are special missions given what you're dealing with."
"Sir." Akame said snapping off a salute that Tatsumi was surprised with, it involved raising one's right arm to their chest with three fingers, index to ring, out with thumb holding the pinkie over the heart.
"Um…" Tatsumi said.
"That's the Magic Knight salute, numskull." Yami growled. "Learn it."
"Yes sir." Tatsumi said doing his best to replicate it and deciding to work on it in time.
"Yami, look after them and make sure they grow, like all of your squad the kingdom will need them in time, I am sure of it." Julius said. "And as usual do you duty and await any special orders."
"Yes." Yami said giving a salute of his own, the only person able to get it from him was the Wizard King due to their long relationship and the trust that Yami had in Julius.
"As I expect." Julius said looking out the window to window and noticing that the sun was setting. "But it's late, you should get going."
"Right, I need to find my ride." Yami said. "Come on you two, let's go get him and head back to the hideout."
With a nod to Julius, Yami turned and left with Tatsumi and Akame on his heels. It was time to go back, let the rest of the squad know of the meeting and get back to whatever they did normally, which in Yami's case was take a massive dump that had been brewing the entire time they'd been meeting with Julius and Mushroom Head. This had been interesting, and it had confirmed what Akame and Tatsumi had said a few days ago, but it was time to get back to whatever it was that the Black Bulls did.
"Marx." Julius said seriously once they were gone. "Prepare letters to the Captains of the Blue Rose Knights, Crimson Lion Kings, Green Praying Mantises, and Coral Peacocks."
"Sir?" Marx asked a little confused.
"Those are the squads with either a known or suspected reborn Knight in them." Julius said. "It's time to get info from them about them, under the cover of learning of their interesting magic to avoid telling them the real reason. Tell Yami to come as well, we'll need him to know, and I will wish to speak with him alone once we're done confirming my suspicions regarding the others."
"Sir." Marx said understanding Julius's orders as he turned and left to execute them.
With his assistant gone Julius turned to look out the window and over the Royal Capital as he thought on all that he'd just learned. It was fascinating and based on Marx's magic true which only added to it all. He'd have to do more research as to why they were here but in his experience nothing happened without reason, and he sensed that there was great change in the Clover Kingdom on the horizon. People would emerge who'd change everything, he knew it. The reborn were just one group and one he knew would do what was right no matter the costs.
For now, though, all Julius could do was prepare for what was to come and hope that those who emerged would be like him in how they thought and what they fought for. With that, Julius used his magic to change himself and sneak off, he was still the Wizard King, and he had a kingdom to protect.
Well, there it is, the Wizard King has been informed of Akame and Tatsumi's past and Marx's has confirmed that it is true. What's more Julius is sure that the others are around, but he needs to confirm it and then decide what to do but don't worry things will be coming in due time as plans are made and characters appear because we still haven't reached the main Black Clover timeline yet. Two things to note about Julius's thoughts on what had happened and what he knows about devils given what has been revealed in the manga. The first is that when I initially drafted this chapter a long time ago it was before that revelation happened and the second is that even with that revelation, if you look back on the episodes where Julius discusses Weg and the devils he doesn't seem to know more than he's saying. Also, when that incident happened it seemed like even he wasn't fully aware of the situation. At least that is how I have interpreted it with Julius as the weaker of the two who was allowed control to make his own life in Clover until the time was right hence why he doesn't seem to know until it is too late. Of course, I could be wrong with then when all is said and done with the manga but for now that is how I am interpreting it. Anyway, that is all that I have for y'all so I will leave this chapter off here. If you liked it then please follow, favorite, review, PM, etc. it is all appreciated and helps me get better and stay motivated to keep producing more content and any questions asked I will do my best to answer both privately and at the start of the next chapter. Until next time.
