Here is the twenty-eighth chapter in this story released when I wanted it to be released based of my release process for this series. The mud monster has been defeated but before the Magic Knights, past and present, could celebrate a new and greater threat appeared for them to deal with. This one, however, won't be able to regenerate so it can be faced by one person and they have just the person who might be able to do it even if it will take every trick in the book to succeed. After all, this has to be the last threat of this incident, right? Well it's time to find out if it is or not, and if they can beat it for that matter. That is all that I have for the administrative stuff I have for y'all and there are no guest reviews that need a response, though I thank you for your support of my work, or questions to answer so I will end this here. Do keep them coming as your support is the best motivation for me to keep producing chapters at this kind of rate. That is it for this pre-chapter note so it is time to sit back and enjoy the twenty-eighth chapter in Akame ga Clover.

Disclaimer: I own nothing related to these two great animes.

Chapter 28: Light

All Akame could do was look as the blinding light darts that were about to come for them noting that they were straight lines of light with 4 smaller lines bisecting it in an even distribution so that it looked like a stitch over a wound. Akame was able to make that much out before they shot at them with the bulk aiming straight at Asta.

There was no time to help Asta as she was too far away to aid him and besides Akame had to leap back and slash her katana through a few of them that were aimed at her though Akame got the feeling that they were more to force her way from the unconscious Sally than to actually kill her. Sister Theresa, however, was closer and was about to go for Asta when there was a series of piercing sounds that were mixed with the rending of metal followed by a series of dings as Akame landed on the ground and slid back over it. She grinned at that sound knowing what had made it before she looked up at the sight.

In front of Asta and Sister Theresa were a series of shields that had appeared in midair forming a rough wall to protect them. To make sure that they were protected there were two rows of shields, the first row intercepted the darts slowing them down but hadn't been able to stop them as they pierced the metal but the second line did and stopped them though they still pierced the shields which meant they were the first darts that had been sent at them.

That was all that had been needed, though. One row to experience it and a second to ensure that the magic was known so that the adaptation to defending against this particular Light Magic was complete. Now that it was, all the shields roiled before they morphed to either repair themselves, or cut the light darts were they were lodged in the shields thus dispelling the spell as the shields reformed so that there was no longer any sign of damage to them.

"Good thing that I got here just in time." A familiar voice that made Akame's heart swell as she heard it but didn't look back, she had to focus on the asshole who'd just attacked and besides she knew Tatsumi's ki intimately well so she just let it fill her with comfort and love as she set herself as Tatsumi floated down into the cavern standing on a shield. "Thanks for getting all the kids out Sister, don't worry they're warm and safely heading back to the village. I suggest you and Gauche head back to make sure they get there without any more issues. The rest of us can handle this from here."

At that Tatsumi, who had rushed into the cave on one of his shields the moment that the last kids were out and protected against the cold, flew the rest of the way in and leapt off the shield to land next to Akame on the ground, sword out in his hand, grimoire open to the spell he'd used and a look of anger on his face. Akame just smiled, with Tatsumi here things would change and she'd make sure that this bastard paid for what he'd done, he may be strong magically but magic could only do so much when faced with the cold metal of her blades.

"Interesting." The man who'd arrived, they could see his silhouette as more light darts appeared next to him and he was standing a distance away from them with another man next to him and on what looked like a midnight purple splotch in the air that Akame quickly identified as Spatial Magic which meant that this man had been brought here by the Spatial Mage from the attack on the Capital. "That didn't go as planned. Valtos, send Sally back. Thanks to those shields I can't collect her without putting her at risk."

"Of course, right away." Valtos said and a midnight purple Spatial Magic portal appeared under Sally's unconscious body and she sank through it and away from the battlefield before anyone could stop it confirming to Akame why she'd been attacked as well as it had ensured that the crazy chick could be evacuated before she could be killed. "I'm sorry Master, I shouldn't have sent Sally here alone when we got the signal from those criminals we hired. This was not the outcome I expected when I sent her."

"You are not to blame for what happened given what I see." The Light Mage said. "I expected that they'd resort to underhanded tactics to win, that is how they fight after all, but to think that I'd encounter a magic that can adapt to other magics, that's rather uncommon and when you factor in that they take the form of shields, well there's only one magic that that could be. So, you're that Armor Mage who caused quite a scene for the nobles and royals recently, I must say that was unexpected to hear. It is not every day that not one but two of the evilest segment of humanity are put in their place and by a commoner no less."

"I see that you are aware of who I am." Tatsumi said preventing Asta's angry retort at their underhanded tactics that they didn't use and not rising to the bait himself as he was used to hypocrites after what he saw in the Empire in his old life. "It's not hard to make that deduction though, there are only two in the Clover Kingdom with magic that can adapt to situations and only one of those two can create shields. You must be with the Eye of the Midnight Sun."

"Correct, I am the leader of the Eye of the Midnight Sun, you may call me Licht." The man said though Licht was not his real name, that was Patry, but he used the name of his long dead idol to ensure his vengeance was brought to the Clover Kingdom just as Licht would want and he'd be able to show the real Licht precisely that when he was resurrected along with the others in due course. "And you are the one who captured Geork and killed one of my followers in the Capital the other day. I presume the girl with the katana is the Blade Mage who killed the other one that died that was murdered that day. It would seem that fate has smiled upon me today to be able to bring two murderers to justice."

"I will not deny that we're murderers though we only kill those who deserve it even if how we do so could be classified as murder." Tatsumi said calmly which seemed to surprise Patry though only his ki showed it and even Sister Theresa looked at him in surprise at how openly Tatsumi admitted to it. "We've both killed more than we can count. I won't justify it, there's no need because you won't listen to reason, I know that much after seeing your attack. You're nothing more than a zealot so reasoning with you would be futile which is fine with me, we can capture you here and now."

"You can try but that capture spell of yours which secured Geork won't work on me." Patry said he'd been informed of these two by the survivors of the attack, as well as by his only human friend with whom he shared a body who had provided more details on what this Armor Mage could do. "Or do you already know that?"

"Oh I can tell that, you've got significantly more mana than me and so can break it, even with my adaptability there are limits to what I can adapt to when the asshole before me is blessed by mana especially when my capture spell isn't as adaptable as my other ones." Tatsumi said before he tilted his head to Akame next to him. "But I don't need that to beat you. See, my magic has now tasted yours so my shields will work fine to stop your little darts and my spell, Innocent's Protect, is active so the moment you try to send them again they'll erect to protect those here. That's my role, I'm the shield, I'll let the sword take you down and she's significantly better than me at this kind of thing."

"Your too kind my love." Akame said as Tatsumi's shields vanished and she walked forward while Gauche got up, the light darts having vanished but no bleeding as they seemed to have been cauterized somehow by the darts, to look at his squadmate as she calmly walked past him and Asta to stand before the Light Mage her katana out to her side. "I'll cut him down, don't worry. Gauche, Sister, get out of here and take that boy with you to pay for his crimes. He seems repentant and Asta's vouched for him so he should live to atone for what he's done. Leave the rest to me and Tatsumi."

"What about Asta?" Sister Theresa asked. "Shouldn't he come with us as well?"

"No he can stay." Tatsumi said as the light seemed to end, along with the midnight purple Spatial Magic to fully reveal who they were facing. "He can't do much against that kind of speed right now but Asta learns best from watching and adapting what he sees to his own fighting style. Seeing as he uses swords what better way to learn that watching a true swordswoman going all out. He'll pick up a lot from seeing Akame in a proper battle."

As Tatsumi had been speaking he'd been studying the two newcomers, as had Akame for that matter, now that they could properly see them. One was in deed the Spatial Mage from the Capital with the lines on his face while the Light Mage was an unassuming man of average height and build. He had sharp features and blond hair so light that it was almost white that was swept back and tied in multiple tight braids down his back and under some ornate skull cap thing over the center of his head that had a cross over his forehead. Both wore robes of their group though the leader's robe was noticeable more elaborate.

"Hey, I can hold my own." Asta said waving his swords that he was still holding after beating the mud monster as Tatsumi noticed that the Light Mage oddly had symmetrical red tattoos on his face in the shaped of crescents curving around the outsides of his eyes and two dots over his eyebrows near the ends closer to the bridge of the man's nose. "Let me at them, I'll take them down no matter how strong they are."

"Not yet, not against what that Light Mage can do." Tatsumi said simply but not harshly. "He's too strong for you right now, probably too strong for me even in Incursio for that matter, and if Akame hadn't already beaten someone who was significantly stronger than her I'd say that even she couldn't handle him but she can. You need to learn something that Akame and I have learned but which we aren't the best to teach and get stronger at moving your heavier swords before you can handle that speed. Watch Akame closely, see what you can gleam from her fighting a stronger opponent and perhaps you can handle the Spatial Mage in a bit."

"You sure she can handle it?" Gauche asked as he moved back to join them. "I might be able to help once my mana has recovered some more."

"It is good that you've learned the value of teamwork Gauche but in a fight like this we'd only get in Akame's way." Tatsumi said not knowing about Gauche's Mirror Brigade spell as that would help though Gauche didn't have the mana for it as Tatsumi leaned in and whispered so that only Gauche could hear. "Plus you need to conserve your magic right now, we both know that while Light Magic only has one magic in direct opposition to it, it's not as all powerful as it's made up to be given what Mirror Magic does to it. Restore that by going back and protecting Marie and the other children. If Noelle's call went out then we know who's coming, if we fail then we can rest assured that he won't."

"Right, I do need to protect Marie." Gauche said with a nod and then a creepy smile and a nosebleed as he added. "She'll be so proud of me after she learns what I did. Yes, going back to her is the right call."

"Yeah sure whatever." Tatsumi said stepping away from Gauche and looking at Sister Theresa. "Please go and help the children, Sister, while we have the moment. I'm not sure why that guy's letting us plan but get out now. I'll protect your retreat."

"Very well." Sister Theresa said as she created her fire leopard again and Tatsumi moved to pick up the injured body of the other criminal and toss it on the leopard before it ran off with him on its back. "Be careful though."

"Don't worry." Tatsumi said as both Sister Theresa and Gauche got on their brooms and took off flying as fast as they could to the exits though Gauche was clearly in pain with his injuries. "They're the ones who will be sorry."

"Master, why'd you let them go?" Valtos asked as they left, the man he believed to be Master Licht hadn't said anything as he let them leave. "They can alert others who are stronger to come here and stop you."

"The Magic Knights already know; they mentioned as much and even if they didn't it would be safe to assume that they had regardless." Patry said to obfuscate the reason he let one of them leave as that was the human vessel for the soul of Drowa when the time came so Patry couldn't harm that person more than he had been forced to when he arrived. "Plus, I have a feeling I know who will come in the end and he's one of the few humans here I wish to test myself against given the magic he wields. Also, that boy with no magic is still here so I don't mind letting some insignificant humans leave. I intend to kill him and take that grimoire he has, to see it in his filthy hands is a disgrace."

"My grimoire?" Asta asked confused looking at it where it floated next to him. "You can't have it."

"It doesn't belong to you; it belongs to a great person slain by the evils of this kingdom long ago for the simple reason that he was more powerful than them when it came to magic, the same with his people." Patry said anger creeping into his voice. "That is the true oppression, the weak oppressing the strong because they fear those who are blessed by the mana. Soon, though, the Clover Kingdom will pay for its heinous, historical crimes."

"Did, did he really just say that?" Akame asked not looking back. "I didn't hear that wrong, right?"

"That he did." Tatsumi said his eyes narrowing. "Certainly the reverse of what we know but then again an extremist would twist whatever he could to his advantage be it something as backwards as the weak oppressing the strong or that the current generation should pay for the sins of their forefathers for which they hold no responsibility. We can't reason with insanity like this and when that insanity is attached to such power, well this is why this group is such a threat."

"It has been my experience that that is the case and it is why I intend to tear down the entire system, it has not changed since then so the crimes are still going on and all of humanity will pay for what it did in the past." Patry said. "And I'll start my justice with taking back that grimoire. The boys will die, but you little lady, I will take you alive. Valtos, go and get who we need. It's time and best you leave just in case I that Armor Mage tries anything given what I've heard of his capture spell."

"As you command Master." Valtos said before a portal appeared beneath him and he sank away from them without another word though Tatsumi hadn't tried anything as he wasn't sure Gibbet Cage could withstand an attack from the Light Mage so there wasn't a point in wasting mana on it.

"Well that's ominous." Akame said as she spun her katana in her hand and moved into a reverse grip, so that it was behind her with the back of the blade facing her back and the tip visible above her shoulder. "They'll find your corpse though. The Wizard King may want you alive but you're too powerful to risk that, I'm fighting to kill. I'm sure he'll understand when I'm done."

"You may be fully aware of your reincarnation, girl, but even with the change that such a process does to one's magic it is not enough to touch a man blessed by mana like myself." Patry said though he didn't consider the Blade Mage a true threat but she was the only one present that could harm him he felt so he'd incapacitate her as he did want her alive. "Nor can someone with a simple three leaf grimoire compare to my four leaf one."

"Oh like Yuno's." Asta said as Tatsumi noticed that the Light Mage spoke the truth, he did have a four leaf grimoire but Tatsumi, and Akame for that matter, were more concerned about the reference to reincarnation. "Wait, did he say reincarnation? How'd he know?"

"He did." Akame said her eyes narrowing at the man before her. "So, you've met someone like me and Tatsumi then?"

"It is foolish to think that you are the only one to have been reincarnated, that magic may be forbidden but it exists though why the likes of you were reincarnated I do not know." Patry said not answering the question. "I, however, was chosen to fulfill a higher purpose, and unlike you and that Armor Mage I am originally from this world, not that that matters for the boy as his story in this world ends today and yours will end soon if you don't accept my offer when you see what I have for you."

"Oh I'm definitely killing you now, no one threatens my beloved." Akame said darkly. "Seeing as you know that we're reborn souls then you'll know that we've died before so we know what it's like. What you don't know is that I was the last person Tatsumi saw in our old life, that I caught his body as he died, and held the broken, bloody, corpse of the man I loved before I could tell him how I felt. Fate gave us this second chance, I don't give a shit why it did but I know one thing, there's no way in hell that I'm going to let either of us die again."

"Trust me, I know death and blood better than any for I have seen true genocide." Patry said just as darkly. "What you went through is nothing compared to this."

"Clearly you don't know what the Empire was like." Akame said. "But enough talk, say goodbye to your second life."

"I don't think so." Patry said as suddenly more of his light darts appeared above and around him. "You may have blocked some of them because I was focused on saving Sally after what you did to her but you can't block them all when they're aimed right at you. Light Magic: Light Swords of Conviction."

"Try me." Akame said as the light swords as the Light Mage called them tipped and shot at her though to Akame they were still just light darts and she'd think of them as such as she spun Murasame around and brough her to bear. "You'll find that I'm more than you expect."

The Light Magic spell was fast, such was the nature of Light Magic and was one of the factors that made it one of the strongest attributes that had been recorded, but as the darts flew at Akame gray mana formed around her forearms and shins before she suddenly moved. Asta was wide and starry eyed at the same time as Akame seemed to blur, her body and katana moving as one as she deftly avoided or cut down the light swords that came at her in what could only be described as a fluid, elegant, dance that only a true swordswoman could accomplish.

Every slash of Akame's katana was a clean, precise move that cut through the light darts without them hitting her and dispelling them in the process. She didn't cut them all, she avoided others as she move but what she avoided just slammed into shields that appeared to intercept them thanks to Tatsumi's spell still being active. The light darts dented the shields but they could no longer pierce Tatsumi's magic.

The whole thing took Asta's breath away as not only was Akame able to seemingly predict the moves of the light to evade or block them but the ones she evaded only added to Tatsumi's Armor Magic's ability to adapt to other magics which against a mage as strong as the Light Mage was really useful. Asta had seen Akame spar with Tatsumi, she'd not deemed him good enough to spar with her just yet, and she won 9 out of every 10 sparring matches but what Asta was seeing now was her going all out and it showed him that he'd really underestimated Akame's sword skills.

It was impressive and Asta was following it as best he could to learn as much as possible even if adapting Akame's style into his own would be hard as it was clearly a katana exclusive style so he'd need a blade like that but if Asta did then he'd have a great base line to work off. However, this was just the start of the fight as after a few moments Akame suddenly pushed off the ground and at the Light Mage with enough force to crack the ground under her feet thanks to the use of her reinforcement magic, the gray mana that still coated her arms and legs.

Patry for his part was surprised by that and quickly moved away using the speed he had thanks to his attribute, his spell ending in the process, so that Akame slashed empty air but rather than keep going past where he'd been, Akame kicked her left leg out and, if Asta's eyes weren't lying, seemed to kick empty air with as if it was the ground and used it to change her direction right to where Patry had moved to without even looking to where he was. That really got the Light Mage wary as he dodged her again but once again Akame seemed to kick off the air where he'd been and to redirect to where he was.

The enclosed space of the cavern and the fact that moving to where the boys were could invite their own attacks playing that would distract Patry and provide an opening to Akame played her advantage as she closed in on him. It was basically a game of cat and mouse as Akame seemed to get faster as she moved, never touching the ground but using the air via a method she'd been forced to develop during her survival in a Strong Magic Region until finally she was in range to slash him before he could move away having pinned him between her and the wall of the cavern that he was moving backwards towards.

For his part Patry was both impressed at the girl's skill with such an advanced technique that he'd not expected her to be able to pull off and annoyed at how she was keeping up with him. Still, he was stronger than she was and easily sensed her mana as she was about to strike so he quickly made an actual sword out of light similar to Asta's smaller one actually with no hilt just a cross guard though the blade was shorter to intercept Akame's strike.

Their blades clashed with a clang that showed how solid and strong the light was before they locked up. They held the hold for a moment pushing against each other before Patry got the upper hand and used his better position to push Akame back and down causing her to backflip in the air and land on her feet, skidding over the ground backwards as Patry swung his legs back to push off the rock wall of the cave light sword still in hand while making several Light Swords of Conviction that he sent at Akame ahead of him.

This forced Akame onto the defensive once again as she slashed the light darts that came at her with her katana once again as she moved back but due to her slide she was unable to dodge as well, she'd used her agility and smaller feminine body to aid her with dodging as well as blocking in ways Tatsumi couldn't, so she had to focus on key blocks rather than a mix of blocks and dodges. To add to it there were more light swords and they were faster than before, which showed that the Light Mage had been holding back, so between that and the slide Akame couldn't avoid them all hence the key blocks.

The result was that a few of the darts got through and left glancing cuts on her arms, sides, and thighs that also tore her clothes and caused her to bleed in several places. Akame didn't care, though, she'd fought through worse and as she made sure none were fatal or crippling they were nothing more than an inconvenience to her at the moment.

However, this was just a distraction for Patry to use his superior speed to get behind Akame before he reached her so that he could slash her across the back with the light sword in his hand now that she was open. It was a good surprise attack but the moment he made the move to get there Akame read his ki and knew where he'd be so she spun and got Murasame up in time to intercept the sword as she bent her body to the side, leaning into the block so that her left breast was actually pressed up against the back of her katana as the final light dart shot past her scored a line along the side of her right breast.

Still she ignored the pain and blood running down her body from all the superficial cuts she'd taken as she pushed back to get Patry off her but he didn't move much and rather rolled with it to bring his sword to bear in anther strike that Akame again blocked. What followed was a series of quick, violent, blows between the light sword and magically created katana that clanged as Patry used his superior speed to try and find an angle on Akame as he flipped and spun around her.

However, Akame blocked most of the blows until the last one. For that attack she had to leap back and twist her head to the side as Patry had brought his light sword up on a backswing that was faster than Akame could get Murasame up to block it.

The result was a shallow line appearing along the left side of Akame's jaw that welled up and began to bleed, blood running down her neck to stain her white collar red. She ignored it or the several other cuts as she got her legs behind her and again pushed off the air with both feet as if it was the wall before she landed to change direction and shoot right at Patry.

Again he couldn't get away in time but he didn't plan on it, he'd figured her out by now so he'd block the strike as Akame brought Murasame across her body for a blow that would bisect someone just under the shoulders. Then, once the block was up, Patry would instantly create a new light sword in his other hand to drive into Akame's gut. After that he'd use his speed to cut down the boys before returning to use his healing spell on the Blade Mage and stabilize her before she died.

It was a good plan but it had one major flaw, Akame wasn't going to let that happen. She'd been planning her counter since the moment they engaged in a proper sword fight and had deliberately not sharped Murasame after she realized that the light sword was strong than the light darts so that she could to gage how good the man's skills were and how much she needed to sharpen Murasame to cut through light sword.

His skills were ok but too reliant on speed and his opponent's inexperience in swordplay to win a confrontation with the light sword. As for the light sword itself, while it was stronger than the dart things, wouldn't be able to withstand Murasame at her sharpest and that's what Akame made it as she brought her sword around to bear making the magical change at the last minute possible to avoid alerting the Light Mage until it was hopefully too late.

Alas for Akame's own plan, the Light Mage reminded her of his speed as he sensed the sudden use of her magic the moment before their blades made contact and let go of the sword to leap back and away as Akame's katana began to cut through the light sword before it dissolved in the air. Patry was fast enough to avoid a lethal blow but not fast enough to avoid it entirely as the tip of Murasame scored a horizontal line across his upper chest just between the hollows of his shoulders as he fled away.

It wasn't enough to kill or even scar Patry but it was enough to make him bleed and the front of his robe turned red from the blood as he landed on the ground as far from Akame as he could manage. Meanwhile, she landed on the ground right where he'd been panting a bit from the intense exchange with Murasame to the side in the end of her move and blood dripping off her exposed arms from the cuts there.

"Not bad, you can control the sharpness of your weapon, I should have expected that." Patry said as his grimoire flipped a page to a new spell. "But not enough to beat me. Light Recovery Magic: Healing Light Particles."

"Wait he has Recovery Magic too?" Asta asked confused as Akame let go of Murasame with her left hand to bring it down to her right hand side and point at the ground as she focused on the magic in the air around her opponent while her own grimoire flipped several pages as light emitted from the Light Mage's hand and surrounded his wound in light to heal it. "That's not fair."

"With enough mana, people who's spells are mainly attack based can have recovery magic as well." Tatsumi said. "But all this will do is ensure Akame wins."

"What?" Asta asked. "I'm so lost from all this."

"You've got no way of beating me." Patry said as his wound closed up and he got ready for his next attack, he could tell that the girl didn't have much more to give so he could just pepper her from range to win but before he could Akame acted. "You can't…"

"Mana Zone." Akame said as her grimoire stopped on the right page and the magic around Patry shifted. "Thousand Cuts!"

Before Patry could react there was a series of razor sharp slashes all around him using the magic that was pressing against his body to create an instantaneous storm of razor sharp blades that slashed once before vanishing. The only thing that save him was his natural Mana Skin caused by his overflowing magic that mitigated the damage somewhat but it was a testament to how strong Akame's magic was that her spell got past Patry's Mana Skin slice his body in numerous places though the cuts to his neck weren't deep enough to be lethal.

Regardless, the slashes covered his body and cut him in numerous places that all began to bleed at the same time turning pretty much all the white parts of his robe red. Worse, though, was that with so many cuts Patry would need a while to heal them with his spell.

Healing was the last thing on his mind though as his body flared in pain from all the cuts and he collapsed to the ground from the overwhelming sensation, his recover spell activating as he hit the ground thanks to his grimoire still being on the right page but it couldn't handle so many cuts at once. He was in shock at how someone he viewed as completely inferior to him could land such a blow on him.

"How, how did you know that?" Patry said the pain in his voice as he looked up from the ground. "Few humans can use Mana Zone at all, you shouldn't be able to."

"Your arrogance was your downfall though be grateful that my Murasame in this world isn't what it was in my last life or else you'd already be dead." Akame said simply as she recovered herself though she couldn't heal so it was just general stamina recovery as her grimoire flipped to a new page. "You presumed that just because you had more magical power than I did that you'd win. I don't fight conventionally as I use a katana that while made from my magic is still a physical sword so it doesn't need to worry about your Mana Skin defense, which incidentally saved your life, and you overlooked that I might know how to manipulate the mana in my environment in the form of a spell."

"It takes years of training to achieve that." Patry grunted out. "Along with an intimate knowledge of mana and plenty of it to begin with. You have the latter, easily at the level of a noble in this accursed kingdom, but not the other factors."

"I'd never heard it called Mana Zone until I got my grimoire." Akame said. "I just know from being dumped in a Strong Magic Region as a child that I had to use the mana around me when I got low to cut things as a means of surviving. That's how I gained the experience and knowledge of mana to achieve this, all of us who survived can use Mana Zone to some extent, along with a strong control of our Mana Skin, because failure to do so meant death."

"That's what you did?" Asta asked amazed at what he'd seen. "Does that have something to do with how you leapt off the air. At times"

"Yes, I rarely use this ability as it takes a high level of concentration and I need a moment to activate my Thousand Cuts spell as I'm not the best with Mana Zone but cutting that asshole gave me that opening and I knew that if I wanted to get him in a spot that I could kill him I'd need to use that spell." Akame said. "It took everything that I had, all my tricks and still all I managed to do was hurt him pretty badly thanks to his Mana Skin. Right now, he's like a wounded animal which is how I used Mana Zone before realizing what I was doing. With his magic though we can't take him in and I've got no spell immobilize so it's time for him to die."

"I'm still confused as to how all of this happened." Asta said stars in his eyes. "How did you block all those darts or evade them? That also amazed me."

"A mix of years of training, experience, and a skill Tatsumi and I know that you'll learn in time." Akame said. "It allowed me to predict the light darts without using magic so that I could intercept or dodge them, that last part was in conjunction with my agility that I've honed over the years and Reinforcement Magic to speed things up. Same for the brief clash of blades. Enough chat though, I'm ending this. Blade Creation Magic: Dagger Swarm."

At that dozens of daggers of various styles appeared around and above Akame before they shot out and at the still downed and recovering Patry with the intention of skewering him in multiple, vital, places. He was furious at himself for getting in this predicament against someone he refused to recognize had the power to best him as she'd used all she had while he'd only used one spell and raw magic. Thankfully Patry had one more ace up his sleeve and as the blades shot at him that ace appeared in the form of a massive wall of midnight purple Spatial Magic that got between Patry and the blades.

Out of the wall of Spatial Magic several blades shot out to meet the blades Akame had sent at Patry though these weren't daggers but rather an odd mix of swords, halberds, spears, axes, and other bladed weapons that intercepted most of Akame's blades while the remainder disappeared into the Spatial Magic. The blades that came for Akame were quickly batted out of the air with her katana or evaded as Akame stared at the counter in confusion while Asta and Tatsumi looked more surprised with nothing to do as they weren't in the path of the blades.

That surprise grew as three figures walked out of the portal before it closed. One was Valtos who quickly turned and rushed to his master's side to help him while muttering something to him that the Magic Knights couldn't hear as the other two stood between Akame and Patry allowing Asta to get a good look at them.

Both of them were girls who oddly weren't in the same robes as the other members of the Eye of the Midnight Sun that Asta had seen. One of them had an open and glowing grimoire next to her, a grimoire who's style was identical to Akame's for some reason only with the colors reversed and the katana piercing a diamond not a three leaf clover from the other direction as the one in the center of Akame's so that they'd formed crossed katanas if they overlapped.

However, it was the girls who got the most attention and caused Akame to let out a gasp as Tatsumi audibly gulped at the sight as Asta felt anger rise in the older boy, an anger he'd never felt from Tatsumi before though Tatsumi managed to contain it somewhat. Asta didn't understand that reaction but he looked at the girls who'd appeared, estimating them to be about a year or two older than Akame and Tatsumi were, and took a moment to really study them and their odd looks.

The taller one had shoulder length auburn hair tied in a high ponytail with a long, dark green, ribbon and a choppy fringe. She wore a green coat or dress thing with a double breast style that hugged and accentuated her decent bust though the sleeves came to her elbows and ended in black cuffs as she had metal bracers on her forearms while the hem of the coat thing was white. She also wore thigh high green boots a shade darker than her clothes and white stockings with a white belt and grimoire bag on her hip.

However, the most unsettling thing about the woman was her eyes that got Asta. They were a bright amber color but there was coldness to them that gleamed with madness and coupled with her smile that was anything but friendly, rather it was predatory. The look sent a shiver down his spine, this was a woman like Akame in the sense that she was a ruthless killer however unlike Akame who could kill without compunction but didn't relish it, it was clear that this woman actually enjoyed killing and that scared Asta more than the look he'd seen in Akame's eyes.

To avoid looking at the sinister girl, Asta turned to the shorter one next to her and blinked at what he saw when he properly looked at the girl. The shorter girl had short black hair that didn't reach her shoulders in a twin tail style with long bangs that came to her eyebrows or past them with the center one reaching the edge of her nose. She also had coal black eyes that had the same look as the one he saw in Akame's meaning she was another killer though as with the girl next to her there was something off in this girl's eyes that Asta couldn't place so he looked away from them over her odd outfit.

She wore a short sleeved black shirt and matching skirt, tights, and shoes, with a white band on the strange collar and a red ascot thing below it over her chest. The shirt just reached her waist but road up as she moved and didn't cover the red belt she had on with a red grimoire bag on her left hip. She complete the look with a pair of red bracers on the backs of her forearms that were very similar to Akame's though hers were smooth and not segmented and she didn't wear gloves. It was an oddly young look that coupled with her lithe and petit form made her look younger than she was.

Most disturbingly, though, was that the girl really reminded Asta of Akame in a lot of ways. It was frankly eerie how similar she seemed to be though she had a small smile on her face that wasn't friendly like Akame's was when she smiled and coupled with the offenses in her eyes gave the girl a slightly unstable look to her. To add to the similar feeling, it had been her grimoire that was the flip of Akame's meaning that she had been the one to use that spell and all this really confused Asta.

"Looks like we got here just in time, good we can settle this quickly." The shorter girl said speaking for the first time and interrupting Asta's assessment as her grimoire flipped to the right page and the black handle of a katana appeared from the grimoire, a handle that was the same style as Akame's only black not red. "Blade Creation Magic: Yatsufusa."

"Wait, Blade Magic?" Asta asked his eyes wide as the girl drew a katana from her grimoire that was identical to Akame's other than the handle so he looked to Akame who was still stunned by the arrival of the two girls but her red eyes were fixed on the girl who'd just revealed that she had the same attribute as Akame. "There's another who has that attribute? I thought that you were the only one Akame. It's supposed to be super rare, right?"

"There's only one who could have it as far as I know but I didn't expect her here as well." Akame said as she set herself recovering from her surprise. "So, it happened to you two as well, this isn't good."

"You don't know the other one like I do." Tatsumi said seriously. "This really isn't good and given how our magic works I have absolutely no idea what her attribute could be."

"Wait who are they?" Asta asked now really confused, but Tatsumi wasn't as he controlled his rage, sword in hand and glaring at the other girl who was glaring right back at him with pure murder in her eyes. "You know that Blade Mage and the other girl?"

"Go on, tell him who I am, you know my name after all so why don't you confirm it." The shorter girl said with a smile on her face and a whole range of emotions in her eyes though none of them were pleasant to Asta. "Big sis."

Dun, dun, dun! Sorry I couldn't resist a cliffhanger this good when I was planning it so as you can see this arc is just filled with them but that's what makes it so much fun. To those who guessed it, this confirms that at least two other Jaegers in addition to Esdeath have been reborn in this world and I'm sure you know who they are. You'll have to wait and see if there are any others though. Naturally this sets up what the next chapter will be nicely and yes the other attribute will be revealed and that will be the attribute that any who used an organic Imperial Arms as their last Imperial Arms before their death has been reborn with though there may or may not be an homage to a former Imperial Arms if that person wielded more than one successfully over the course of his or her life. That is all that I have for this action packed chapter, the ending really speaks for itself while the fight shows that no matter the world Akame can find a way to prevail though without the one hit kill feature she's got to use a few more tricks and even then she barely won against an opponent holding back so she may not be so lucky if there's a next time. Anyway, time to end this chapter. If you like my story then please follow, favorite, review, PM, etc. it is all appreciated and helps me get better and stay motivated to keep producing more content and any questions asked I will do my best to answer both privately and at the start of the next chapter. Until next time.
