Here is the thirtieth chapter in this series released in keeping with my self-imposed upload schedule for this series. 32 students have become 16 still in the Sports Festival and now it is time to half that once more as we learn who will make it to the quarterfinals and who will be defeated and knocked out of the Sports Festival. That is all the administrative stuff I have and while there are no questions that need answers there are two guest reviews to respond to which I will do now. Do keep the reviews and PMs coming as I always like hearing how much y'all are enjoying my work.

To Guest (guest), thank you for your review and support. They were a lot of fun to write so I'm glad you enjoyed the fights and there are plenty more to come. It was a long chapter with a lot of interactions so a lot of good jokes to make with that nice subtle one as well though there was an even subtler one last chapter that will be revealed in time but in the Sports Festival I couldn't resist having Tetsutetsu lose the same way and if he lost to Asta then Kirishima had to lose to Yuno. Nero's mystery will keep growing bit by bit so stay tuned for more on her. Monoma is passionate about his class; he just needs to learn to be more internal than external with them now that the rivalry is there. Do keep reading and enjoying my work.

To Nathan Ramos (guest), while I'm not sure if I'll do a chapter on that as there isn't much there, it's certainly something that the boys of Class 1-A can start to consider in time. It was a low blow for Noelle to do that but until she can control her Quirk more she had to do what she could, sorry Leo. That is good that Horikoshi has said that, I've noticed a few things like the arm support that Melissa made in the first movie being used by Deku during his Dark Hero phase or various pros from the third movie appearing during the final saga, as well as how Star was the girl All Might saved in the first movie. I never saw Nine in that arc in the manga so I can't comment there and of the films I still struggle to figure out where in the timeline it fits because the more I think about it the more it doesn't but that's just me. Also while I know that moment occurred in Season 5 for World Heroes just as Season 3 had a moment tied to Two Heroes at the very least the former came in a non-canon episode so it doesn't count. As a former Wizard King he likely knew of All for One though I've not fully planned for how Conrad's magic will be adapted into this series or if I'll call it Key or something similar, I need to really think on how it will work as a Quirk as it's not as easy to adapt as some of the other magics out there. I do have plans for those four though and where they'd fit in and how. As for Elsdocia, it's different to One for All because it is a made item not a Quirk but I do have an idea for it that will become clear in time so I think I've sorted out the issues with it. As for the Crossover Trio, I'm not sure I can do that given the importance of the fights. Wolfram was key as it was the only time Deku and All Might fought together with One for All, Nine was vital to Deku and Bakugo's relationship, and Flect was great for Deku's solo victory while Asta beating Conrad was massive as it showed that he could challenge a Wizard King so of them the only one that might work is Flect. That said, I will likely be unable to adapt Black Asta into this story and one of the villains does allow for some leeway so stay tuned, it will be a long time before I address it but I've got the first stages for how it will work mapped out so it should work, I just need to figure out finite details if that makes sense. Do keep reading and enjoying my work.

That is it for this pre-chapter note which means that it now officially time to sit back and enjoy the thirtieth chapter in Black RWBY Academia.

Disclaimer: I own nothing related to these three great franchises.

Chapter 30: Slashing 16 in Half

"Alright folks it's finally time to start the second round of the final event and we're starting with a proper battle of heavyweights as two frontrunners in the Sports Festival face off!" Present Mic said to the cheering crowds as Class 1-A watched Midoriya and Shinso walk out to start the second round. "They've emerged as favorites in the Sports Festival with what they've done so far but only one will advance, which will it be? From Class 1-A, the winner of the first event, Izuku Midoriya! Verses, the rider of the winning team in the second event who personally grabbed the winning score, from Class 1-B, Hitoshi Shinso! Also, don't forget that Shinso won his first match by making his opponent walk out of the ring, can he do it again?"

"Only if Midoriya falls for the trigger." Aizawa said as the boys reached the steps and began to climb them. "So the real test will be on Shinso I say as he no longer has the element of surprise on his side."

"Agreed." Oobleck said. "This is a good test in fact as there will be times in the field where you can't compensate for a drawback that a support item usually does so I wonder how it will be accomplished."

"There are many ways but the resolve of the opponent is also important." Port added as the boys reached the top of the steps and began to walk onto the battlefield. "So more nuances than in the last round."

"Ha, you're doomed, Shinso's got this." Monoma said popping his head up to taunt them as Midoriya and Shinso came to a stop on the battlefield while Class 1-A watched the impeding battle as the commentors discussed it. "He won't have to move to win. You lot may have been showing off with winning so many battles last round but our victories were with our best so they…"

"Sorry, good luck." Kendo said as she knocked Monoma out and he slid down and she dropped down to scold Monoma. "Seriously, stop it, you're…"

"Well, will Midoriya win?" Asta asked as Kendo's voice trailed off on the other side of the partition between their boxes. "Shinso looked really strong in the last round."

"So long as he doesn't respond to Shinso's voice he will, he's got greater strength even without his Quirk." Ojiro said leaning forward from the row behind as the order to begin was given and Midoriya ran at Shinso to give his own personal two cents having lost to Shinso in the round before. "That's what got me, I'm sure of it, and what I told Midoriya to avoid during the break. I remember Shinso said something to me, I responded and then the next minute I was out the ring. So long as Midoriya keeps…never mind."

The others didn't need to say anything, while they couldn't hear the boys battling over the cheering crowd they could see that Shinso was saying something to Midoriya as Ojiro was explaining how he was beaten, something he'd explained to Midoriya during the break as best he could, and Midoriya responded. The moment he did he came to a halt just as Ojiro had before he turned and slowly walked to the edge like Ojiro had done.

"And there he goes." Ojiro said with a sigh. "I told him not to respond but he didn't listen. I guess it will be up to Todoroki then to beat this guy."

"This is Midoriya." Noelle said. "He can get a little too passionate in battle so it shouldn't be a surprise to us that Shinso was able to get a verbal reaction from him."

A few of the others nodded, Midoriya was a great tactician and planner but he did sometimes let his emotions run wild in battle and if Shinso had done something to provoke him, which he did as he'd insulted Ojiro to get Midoriya to respond to him, then he wouldn't be silent about it and say his peace. This was the case now and all Class 1-A could do was watch as another of their class lost in such fashion to one of the few remaining members of Class 1-B in the Sports Festival.

At least that was what they were expecting until right before Midoriya reached the line and walked out. That was because right before he did there was a flash of power in the index and middle fingers on his left hand and he flicked them down generating a massive gust of air and suddenly coming to a stop. When the gust cleared, Midoriya was right on the edge of walking out but still within the ring.

"He's come to a halt." Ida noted as the crowd roared and Present Mic got excited. "He didn't walk out."

"Few." Ochaco said as she let out a sigh of relief. "I'm glad he didn't, I don't want Deku to lose."

The sudden breaking of Shinso's Quirk clearly shocked the boy but as Midoriya looked back at him and then carefully turned to Shinso, Shinso began speaking to him as Midoriya held his arm, his broken fingers limp before. Shinso seem to be trying to get a response as he got more angry to the point that he started yelling at Midoriya but Midoriya wasn't responding. Instead he just rushed at Shinso now that he was no longer under the other boy's control and this time not rising to any bait that Shinso through at him.

"How did he do that?" Ojiro asked stunned as they watched what was going on. "I don't even remember being under his control. One moment I was attacking, the next I was out of the ring."

"It looked like he used his Quirk." Nero noted as Midoriya closed in on a shouting Shinso. "Likely broke his fingers in the process and that pain snapped him out of it. If I had to guess his Quirk either has a natural defense mechanism or it was some spasm he did out of habit. Whatever the case, it worked and for as reckless as Midoriya can be he won't make the same mistake twice in a battle."

"Yeah Deku's too smart for that." Ochaco said as Midoriya reached Shinso and slammed into him using his greater natural strength to push Shinso back and to the edge of the battlefield though he didn't carry the boy like he did to Aoyama the round before, just pushed him with his right hand on Shinso's shoulder and left forearm in his chest. "He's got this now."

The others just nodded or watched knowing that that was the truth, even Bakugo knew that Deku wasn't stupid enough to fall for that dumb trick again, as Midoriya pushed a yelling Shinso back. Quickly it became clear that he wouldn't respond to Shinso so the boy changed tactics and punched Midoriya in his left hand striking the broken fingers and causing Midoriya to release him. The moment that he did pulled Midoriya past him and towards the out of bounds line that Midoriya had been pushing Shinso towards to take the advantage.

All they could do was watch as Midoriya turned around to face Shinso who lunged at him to push him out, slamming his right hand into Midoriya's face while his left grabbed Midoriya's shoulder. However, despite his broken fingers, Midoriya showed his resilience but grabbing the front of Shinso's shirt and forearm as he slid back before twisting and using Shinso's own momentum to throw him over his shoulder and to the ground, hard.

The result was that Shinso hit the ground with a jarring thud, his lower legs past the white line confirming that he was out of bounds. Midoriya had won and Midnight acknowledged it thus ending the match and giving Midoriya the first of the 8 spots in the quarterfinals.

"Alright Deku did it!" Ochaco said happily as the crowd roared at the end while the boys exchanged some words, which led to Midoriya getting brainwashed. "Er…"

"He shouldn't let his guard down." Nero said as Shinso got up and walked off while releasing Midoriya, only to get him again before leaving though the boy did have a small smile on his face so whatever Midoriya had said to him had helped. "Twice. That's not a good look."

"Yeah well at least he won." Ochaco said as Shinso released Midoriya once more before leaving and Midoriya hurried off as well as he had to get his fingers healed up for the next round. "And next up is Schnee v. Todoroki, who's going to win that."

"Weiss of course." Ruby said her faith in her bestie unshakable. "She's got it. Todoroki may be strong but he's got nothing on her precision and skill."

"She can block the ice but that's it." Nero said. "It's not the best matchup for her, especially without her sword, but she's not an idiot and knows how to use Glyphs well so it should be good so long as she can find a way to overcome her lack of offensive with her Quirk. Last round it worked because it turned out that she could use Tokage's Quirk against her but that won't be the case with Todoroki."

"I don't care, I just want to see some good battles." Asta said and most of the class agreed at that as the commentary began for the next match. "Wait, no I need to go and wait for my next match so I'm going to miss this. Oh well, see you guys in a bit, tell me how it is."

At that Asta got up and hurried away as Noelle shook her head but didn't say anything about it. There wasn't much need to talk and with that win their class had shocked Monoma into not annoying them now that another of few remaining Class 1-B members was out leaving just Mimosa and Yuno still in the Sports Festival. Those matches would come later, now it was time to watch the second match and see if Weiss could overcome the sheer power of Todoroki's ice.

"After that surprising start to the second round that defied what we'd previously known about Brainwashing, it's time for the exciting second match and this is a matchup between truly elite families." Present Mic said as Weiss and Todoroki walked out of their entrances and headed to the battlefield. "Both are from Class 1-A and represent two of the most well known and prestigious families in all of Japan. It's the recommended half hot half cold son of the number 2 Hero, Endeavor, Shoto Todoroki verses the heiress to the Schnee business empire and not a recommended student due to coming to U.A. not Shiketsu, Weiss Schnee! Who's got the edge here boys?"

"The opening attack will be key." Aizawa said in his usual tone. "And will tell us a lot about how this battle will play out."

"Very true and from an academic standpoint in the field of Quirk Studies this will be fascinating." Oobleck said as the combatants began to walk up the stairs. "The Schnee family is rare in that it has a truly hereditary Quirk that hasn't changed since it manifested a few generations ago so it is well documented but there are theories regarding aspects of it and if it can change in subtle ways from person to person or if it is truly identical for each one. This won't test it per se but could give us a baseline for the future if we compare it to how her sister was at her age."

"That is a good place to compare as that is what I am most curious about." Port said. "Naturally I did not get to teach her sister so I cannot say if she is at, below, or above that level at a comparable age nor am I clear as to when it happened for Schnee Winter so this is going to be good."

Weiss just drowned out the chatter as she walked onto the battlefield and headed to her starting spot. She knew that this would be hard especially without the actual offensive capabilities of her Quirk available to her, she'd gotten lucky that Tokage's Quirk was one she could use Glyphs offensively on though that would not be the case for Todoroki's Quirk, but despite that fact she was going to do her best.

She'd trained hard to master what she could with her Quirk and had a fighting style that used it as it currently was. True, Weiss didn't have Myrtenaster with her for the match which impeded her a fair bit as her style revolved around her use of her sword as her primary offense with Glyphs supporting it but she figured she could make due. In fact, Todoroki would be helpful there given what he could do and as such she had a plan, it just involved surviving the first wave to pull off.

Todoroki meanwhile didn't really have much of a plan for this match. He knew of the Schnees and their power, anyone in the upper circles of Japanese society like his father would know about Glyphs and how it worked, but he also knew that the Schnee in his class wasn't at that stage yet so he didn't have to worry about dealing with that aspect of Glyphs in this battle.

That meant that all he had to do was overwhelm any barrier that she had, he had the power to break her glyphs he was sure of it, and then freeze her to win. He wouldn't go overboard like he had against Sero but he'd still go hard because Midoriya had won and he was going to face the boy favored by All Might and beat him with just his right side in the next round no matter what, some rich Huntress heiress wasn't going to stop him.

As a result, neither spoke as they faced off on the battlefield. They didn't need to as they had no words for each other and just wanted to get it over with. Present Mic took a moment to realize this but where he did he started the match.

"Begin!"

The moment the word was said Todoroki fell to a knee and planted his right hand on the ground so that ice shot out of it and his right foot and hand towards Schnee. It was a large, jagged, wall of it but not the overwhelming overload that he'd done to Sero in the last round as even he realized that that had been too much. This amount of ice should do it, at least he intended up until Schnee held her hands up.

Weiss already knew how to block the ice and the moment it was coming for her she raised her hands and a swarm of glyphs appeared before her in a wall that was higher than the ice coming towards her and almost as wide a good distance out in front of her. A second later a second wall of glyphs appeared behind it overlapping where there were holes in the first wall due to the circular nature of her glyphs and she kept making layers and layers of the glyphs similar in a fashion to the teeth in a shark's mouth even though it was reaching her limit for how many she could make at once.

She just needed to block the ice and withstand the impact until Todoroki ran out of steam. It was a hard task but Weiss was ready as the ice slammed into her glyphs with a boom that sent a shockwave over the battlefield. Gritting her teeth, Weiss held it as the first line of glyphs shattered from the force of the ice and then the second as Todoroki pushed against it with as much force as he could manage but for every line of glyphs that broke Weiss created a new one behind it as fast as possible.

The opening salvo was a battle of wills between the students but there was only so much that Todoroki could do before with his ice as he could only generate it, not manipulate it so finally he hit that point as the ice began to pile up against the wall and that was when he stopped. He'd been blocked and he knew it, it was surprising as he didn't expect Schnee to be able to withstand the force until he couldn't apply it anymore and annoying to see as he really needed to win to face Midoriya.

Behind the ice, Weiss panted as she released her glyphs having blocked the attack, not that Todoroki would know that she'd done so, though because it wasn't as wide as the ice, she'd focused on blocking it from freezing her not getting past her on either side. That meant that she was now boxed in with the only paths available being up and over the ice or back and out of the ring.

Naturally the latter wouldn't work as that would cause her defeat but Weiss already had her plan to go up. However, before she did that, and while she had a moment as there wasn't much Todoroki could do at the moment other than send it over her head, she used the brief moment of respite that she had to do what she needed to do.

That was to use some small glyphs to cut off one of the jagged ends of the ice that had gone past her, bring it back to her on a glyph and then crudely form the spike into an approximation of a sword. It wasn't pretty or likely that effective but seeing her fighting style with Glyphs relied on her using her sword this was the best that she could manage given the circumstances.

To make sure she could hold it, when she was done Weiss ripped off her left sleeve and wrapped it around the larger base to protect her hand somewhat from the cold of the ice. She'd prepared for this during the break with Momo making the scissors to snip the seam on Weiss's sleeve in the right places for an easy and swift rip.

Only when she was done with her work did Weiss make a glyph under her feet and use it to ascend into the sky and out the top of the ice, her crude weapon in her hand. It was time to bring the fight to Todoroki before he got fed up waiting for her and tried something that could prevent Weiss from reaching him on her terms not his.

While Weiss was doing this Todoroki and risen from his opening position, he wasn't using his left side because it was battle so there was a little ice forming on his right but he was fine as it wasn't an impediment to him yet. Part of why he'd not gone as intense as the round before was to avoid using that half of his Quirk as he wouldn't use the heat to balance himself out until after match. Of course the drawback was that Schnee had been able to block his attack and now it was looking like she wasn't stuck and planning something so Todoroki would have to prevent that.

With his ice before him and blocking his view of his opponent, Todoroki realized that he'd likely have to run up the ice and just shoot down more from above to win and was about to do that when he saw a flutter of white above the top point of the ice and a second later Schnee appeared on a floating glyph that she moved forward to be over the ice, her off ponytail fluttering in the wind and her left sleeve missing for some reason, until Todoroki saw that the reason was that it was now a makeshift grip on the ice spike she held in her left hand.

"You're going to have to do better than that to best me Todoroki." Weiss called out from above him as she made a series of glyphs in the air that formed a slide that she leapt onto and slid down with expert balance from years of Huntress training though personally Weiss would have rather been wearing her wedges for this rather than trainers but she'd felt that they'd be a bit much for the Sports Festival and had foregone them but she pushed that thought away as she continued. "All that power and you can't break past my wall of glyphs. That's your weakness, if you can't overpower your opponent then you're done for."

"I don't need power to beat you." Todoroki said as he set himself and held out his right hand. "But you won't get close enough to learn that Schnee."

At that he blasted out ice from his hand but Weiss just leapt over it with a flip and landed on the attack where she continued to run down and close in on Todoroki her arms out showing great balance. It was an impressive display of balance and reminded those watching that Weiss was more than her family's name, she'd earned her spot at U.A. fair and square and this would really show it.

For his part Todoroki just grit his teeth and backed up a bit as Schnee ran down his ice at him, his mistake clear to him. Being trained by that scumbag father of his was entirely focused on getting strong enough to surpass All Might, he'd never really trained Todoroki to handle the intricacies of other styles of combat beyond normal hero styles so he wasn't prepared for a Huntress track student who was more accustomed to using her Quirk in a support capacity rather than offensively and thus had great acrobatic and mobility training. He'd have to adapt and quickly as Schnee leapt off the ice and at him.

Weiss knew what she was doing and at the last moment she performed a spinning pirouette flip in the air over Todoroki's head, her head was actually above his as she spun in the air, so that as she came back to the ground feet first she was facing him and twisted up to bring her leg in from the side for a kick to the head with a small glyph just over her shin for added force. It might have worked but at the last second Todoroki spun using ice under his feet to increase his speed and got his right arm up and encased it in ice to block the blow.

The result was that Weiss's glyph took the brunt of the impact as it slammed into the ice and bounced off without effect other than to annoy her but Weiss rolled with the bounce to get her right leg up and plant her foot on the ice to quickly push off in a backflip and landed in a crouch on an angled glyph her improvised weapon spinning in her hand to a reverse grip as she grabbed the edge of the glyph in her free right hand similar to how she'd seen Ruby use her glyphs in training.

Todoroki got his arm down as Weiss gave him a cold look before she leapt off her glyph and at him, bringing the ice spike to bear as she did. There was no more need for talk, Weiss needed to focus as she brought the fight to Todoroki on her terms and used her own style against him.

As such, Todoroki was forced to twist out of the way as she slashed at the left side of his face as he spun to avoid her and keep her in his line of sight, the sharp end of the ice drawing a line on his cheek that welled up and began to bleed down the side of his face but he ignored it as he had more pressing concerns. Schnee had used her lithe body to twist when she passed him and was already bending her knees on another angled glyph ready for a next pass.

As she leapt Todoroki noticed that several more glyphs appeared around him at various heights and angles in a rough sphere around him and it dawned on him what Schnee's plan was. She was going to use her superior mobility from years of specialized training in conjunction with her Quirk as a support assed and the weapon as her main form of attack to leap between the glyphs as she kept trying to pass him and eventually land the winning hit.

Well, he wasn't going to let her succeed in that as he avoided another attack and created a narrow ice pillar in her way, it was all that he could do quickly what with the close confines of the engagement and the speed Schnee was showing but she just created a small glyph to the side to kick her left foot off and perform a spinning cartwheel in the air to her next glyph and attack again.

What followed was a series of attempted passes and slashes, some of which landed slicing his clothes and drawing blood, as Weiss picked up her speed turning herself into a blur coming from all angles she could at Todoroki. In response he created what pillars of ice that he could to try and intercept her, or at least throw her off, and dodge her attacks while waiting for the right moment.

It had taken a moment to adapt but Todoroki had soon realized that this was the best course of action against his opponent. Ideally he would have gone for a massive pillar to lift him up or another ice wave to capture Schnee but she was moving too fast for that so he was basically just putting up small pillars and dodging. It looked like he was on the defensive but in reality he was biding his time as he looked for his opening and when that happened he acted.

The thing that Todoroki had been waiting for was for Schnee to hit the top speed her body could handle and then deduce her timing from that. Only once that had happened could he properly anticipate her movements with the pillars around him and that was when he'd find his opening. Finally he got that and as she came in from another side, he moved with her timing as she slashed her ice spike at his right side, a problem of her being left handed, he raised his arm and encased it in ice as he grabbed the spike.

As soon as he did he began to create more ice from his right hand that traveled up it and onto Schnee's hand locking her wrist in place and moving up her forearm to her elbow and then her bicep as her momentum was brought to a jarring halt. Still she used that to swing her legs forward for a kick to his chest but as she did Todoroki let go of the ice spike she was using as a weapon and brough his still ice cover arm down as fast as he could to grab her left leg just below the knee and creating the ice there to freeze her leg both over the knee and to his hand.

Todoroki had to lean back to avoid a kick to the jaw from Schnee's free right leg but it worked for him as he turned to his left while evading it and still holding Schnee like that to slam her upper right arm into one of the pillars that he'd erected with a sickening crack that brough a scream from Weiss. Todoroki was expressionless as the impact of the pillar, which he was glad was there, brought Schnee to a halt which also stopped him but that was just what Todoroki needed, he needed the stop and with that he brought Schnee down back first onto the ground, hard.

Weiss let out a gasp of pain as she slammed back first into the ground, the air being driven from her lungs and her head snapped back to thud into the concrete which dazed her, not that she wasn't already dazed enough from the impact with the pillar or the failure of her attack that had led to this situation. That was all Todoroki needed to finish the job and freeze Weiss to the ground in ice leaving only her face free. When that was done he let go of her leg and stood, the ice falling off his arm as he rose.

"You can't move, you forget that I can do precision moves as well as ranged ones." Todoroki said. "And Glyphs won't work with you all frozen, they can't break free of the ice, at least not before damage sets in from the cold."

"Yeah and the head injury isn't doing me much favors in terms of concentrating on my Quirk." Weiss grunted out as her head swam. "Alright, I admit it, you've got me immobilized. I concede the match."

"Schnee has been immobilized." Midnight said with a crack of her flail. "Todoroki wins."

Todoroki maintained his expressionless look as he knelt down and placed his left palm over what would be Schnee's abdomen and began to melt the ice as fast and as safely as possible to free her. However, this was only out of habit as the entire time he was thinking of his pending match with Midoriya and what that would mean.

For her part, Weiss knew that consciousness was fading from her so she just lay there as she was unfrozen and the field cleared, which would take a moment. The only thing she really cared about before finally giving up and passing out was that she'd let down Winter and Ruby by losing.

"That was hard fought Weiss." Winter said in the box she was in as the match ended and Weiss was unfrozen though it looked like she'd passed out which given the blows she'd taken at the end made sense. "But in the end you just aren't there yet, at least not without your sword that is. This will be a great teacher in how you can improve for when you don't have a weapon or for when you have to use an unfamiliar or makeshift weapon as a replacement."

"Could that have gone differently?" Glynda asked from Winter's right side surprising her with the question as the Agency Heads discussed it themselves in the front row and Rumpole just sat back and watched without saying anything, not that Winter expected her or Glynda could hence why she was surprised by the other woman. "That match I mean. Could your sister have won it?"

"At her current level of skill and training, maybe but the odds were stacked against her." Winter admitted. "Weiss did well, better than I expected she'd do in a battle where she couldn't have her sword and I've never seen her that mobile on her glyphs, but it was an uphill battle from the start. Still, the style she used had some inspiration from something else, hopefully that Rose girl she's always talking about whenever I call her, however without a proper weapon or her Quirk awakening she didn't have a chance."

"She's friends with Miss Rose? Yes I did see them hug earlier and they were on a team so it makes sense that they're friends." Glynda said as she thought on the interactions Winter's sister had had with Miss Rose that day. "I'm a bit surprised by that, I'll admit seeing as I know your family's reputation and from what I've heard from Port and Oobleck, Weiss can be a bit like you and I've also met Miss Rose back on the day Ozpin offered her his recommendation so I got a good impression of her from that encounter. They're personalities are rather…contrasting."

"It seems so but Weiss practically gushes about Rose whenever we talk, it's actually a bit odd as it's like she has a crush on the other girl or something." Winter said before shaking her head as that was unlikely though it would still be better than Winter's notably poor tastes when it came to her own love life. "But I think it's more Rose is her first true friend her age who saw her as for her she is and not what her social status was. True we associate with the Silvas, Vermillions, Kiras, Yaoyorozus, and what not but that's different as everyone knows the social situation."

"Rose comes from a family of Huntsmen and Huntresses but you're right she's certainly not in the same social bracket as the Schnees." Glynda said as she gave the younger woman a sideways glance. "But that is what is good about a Hero Course, you meet many who you'd not normally meet. I've heard about you and Qrow, that's a pairing that transcends status if ever there was one."

"Whatever you've heard are baseless rumors." Winter said flushing red, she had no idea why she and Qrow were the way they were but she couldn't deny the attraction there and quickly moved on from that. "It's good for Weiss to have a friend like that and showed in her improved style but without awakening Glyphs there's not much that Weiss could have done there and what she did was more than impressive."

"You mentioned that, I've heard of the summons you can make." Glynda said as Weiss was freed from the ice and taken to the Nurse's office while Glynda decided not to tease Winter about Qrow, or reveal that he was Miss Rose's uncle as that was something they'd all have to learn on their own. "It's caused by your Quirk awakening then."

"It is." Winter said as she held her hand out to create a small glyph that then had a small flock of birds come out of it that Glynda recognized as miniature versions of an avian Grimm commonly found in the area north of where Atlas Agency was located. "The Schnee Quirk is an odd one as it is entirely hereditary and utterly dominant in terms of inheritance. I have it, my mother has it, my grandfather had it, Weiss has it, and my brother has it. Quirks are, for the most part, hereditary that much is true but rarely are they truly identical the way ours is and to add to it they never change so there is something up with it."

"There's no difference between them?" Glynda asked.

"At their core, no, we all create the same kind of glyphs right down to the markings on them." Winter said. "On their own, Glyphs can only do so much, mainly in terms of defense, support, and mobility, which is why we use Dust to enhance them in various ways. However, for some reason that we have yet to determine, there is a lower threshold to awakening Glyphs than there is for any other Quirk that's been awakened and once awakened, a Schnee can create light summons of vanquished Grimm to aid him or her."

"Interesting." Glynda said as Winter ended her display and closed her hand again. "There is so much we don't know about Quirks and yours is different from anything else."

"It is and we don't know why." Winter said. "But I do know that Weiss's is not awakened. If it was she could have used it offensively in that fight as out summons fight under our control though they are weaker than normal Grimm so can be defeated with less effort. I know that Weiss will get there in time though so I'm not worried."

"Clearly." Glynda said as the ice was finally cleared from the battlefield and Cementoss went to work fixing any damage. "I look forward to seeing her at Beacon, unless you think Atlas will get her."

"No, she's going to Beacon, it's where Rose wants to go and she needs to be away from the family to really become herself so it's best that she goes there." Winter said. "I won't try to sway her mind on this just as I supported her decision to apply to U.A. and not Shiketsu."

Glynda just nodded at that as there wasn't much more to say after that. Winter understood and the women sat back in silence once more to watch the rest of the Sports Festival and see how it played out. Winter now had no one to support so she figured she may as well pay attention to Weiss's friend and the sole Huntress track student left especially because it was against Nebra's younger sister. It was time to really see what Ruby Rose was made of, when her battle came of course, and Winter would enjoy the Sports Festival until then as the next match was about to start.

"Aww, Weiss lost." Ruby said clearly upset at it and wanting to go to the Nurse's Office to make sure that Weiss was ok but knowing that it was best not to what with her own match coming up later. "I thought that she might have it in the end when she got all close to Todoroki."

"She did do well." Noelle said. "And she's much more agile than I thought. I know that Glyphs helps her in that department but that took some serious training to achieve."

"I taught her some of that." Ruby said brightening up a bit. "I know mobility and aerial movements well so I helped Weiss improve in that department. It was nice to see her apply it the way she did."

"That would explain a bit." Nero said. "She moved with a grace closer to yours Rose than what I'd seen in the past while also maintaining solid control at a high rate of speed. It might be due to not being in her costume or having her sword but still it wasn't a bad showing and that block to start was good. She reminded us that even though she fights with a weapon, her Quirk is still powerful in its own right."

"Yeah I'm proud of her." Ruby said as the ice finally melted off Weiss and the robots could get to her. "She's really gotten stronger. This stuff isn't easy without our weapons and she didn't have the training that I had for the recommended exam so her use of her Quirk in battle without a weapon is behind mine. We trained hard together for this though and it showed."

"That doesn't surprise me." Nero said. "At her place I presume."

"She does have some fancy digs with a great, private, training facility that we made a lot of use of." Ruby said. "And her bath is amazing, so refreshing after training."

"I'm sure Weiss loved that." Nero said, she was pretty much convinced at this point that Weiss had feelings for Ruby but was trying to deny them on a level even Noelle hadn't reached though that was likely due to the whole same gender thing that no doubt added to Weiss's confusion. "Well it's good that her training has paid off. It's been showing for us all, we put a lot of work into this."

"Yeah training with Asta was intense and that was just Quirk training that we did." Noelle said. "His physical training is even more insane, especially now that he actually has the proper equipment for that."

"Wait, Asta's body is from natural training?" Kirishima asked turning to them his eyes wide. "Damn that is so manly of him. I've got to get some workouts with him, he clearly knows his stuff when it comes to strength training."

"Yeah, Asta does a lot of that." Noelle said. "I couldn't even begin to match that."

"You didn't try." Nero pointed out. "He offered us and you flat out said no."

"Yeah I'm not an idiot, I get that we have to do physical training but Asta's level is beyond what I can manage." Noelle said. "You did try it though."

"That was dumb, I'll admit it." Nero said recalling how during their training Asta had invited the girls to do some strength training with him which Nero accepted to see what it was all about and why Asta liked it but Noelle had declined and she was the smart one to do so as Nero had to seal the pain up just to get back to her room when she was done and it took a while to recover, or even move again, once she unsealed it. "Few could handle that."

"Really, Asta strength trains?" Izuku asked, he'd come back a little later than expected and had missed most of the fight so he'd quickly made his notes about what was going on and how Schnee fought with Glyphs as a support took for her rather than her primary form of combat but with the ice still being melted away there was time to chat. "I've got to hit him up them. The stronger I am the better my body can handle my Quirk so I bet he knows how to properly strengthen my body."

"Count me in on that as well, we can all get some manly bonding done over strength training." Kirishima said. "It will be great, who's in guys?"

Several of the guys actually agreed to it with Ojiro, Shoji, and Ida all really into the idea. Ida even declared he'd set it up as Class Rep before he got up to go and meet Hatsume and get ready for the match he had with her as she had something to lend him to make it fair and he wanted to be ready with time to spare.

The girls were more indifferent to the testosterone showing though Hagakure did ask to join after Ojiro said he'd partake. Ruby noted that her sister would have signed up right away but most of them had Quirks that didn't need that kind of training and the bro fest at the gym sounded just like that, a bro fest.

"It won't matter how strong that Asta kid is." Monoma said popping his head up over the partition between the class boxes and interrupting Kirishima and Midoriya's discussion on the best training regime to discuss with Asta when the Sports Festival was over. "He's going to lose to Mimosa. You saw her against Shiozaki in the last round and Shiozaki is near the top of our class as well. She's got this, that loudmouth's got nothing on her."

"You do realize what Asta's Quirk does, right?" Noelle asked her tone cool as she glanced up at Monoma. "What makes Asta so amazing is that he can nullify other Quirks, that's his strength."

"Come again?" Monoma asked his tone faltering for a moment as clearly he'd not realized what Asta could do. "I just thought that he created those swords, heavy and strong sure, but that's it. It was too strong for Tetsutetsu, that's why he won, right?"

"Nope, the edge nullifies Quirks so the moment it touched that loudmouth he was done for." Noelle said. "There are other features but you'll see. I know that my cousin is strong but she can't match Asta."

"Well she may have betrayed us in the Cavalry Battle but Mimosa won't let us down now that it is an individual tournament." Monoma said his bravado coming back. "You'll see. You may have shocked us with Shinso's defeat, seriously that shouldn't have happened as he claims that no one has ever broken his Quirk's hold before, but you won't with Mimosa. We've…"

"Shut it Monoma." Kendo said hitting him and causing him to slide down before popping her head up to add. "Sorry for that, good luck, this will be an interesting battle I feel."

Class 1-A just blinked at that before they let it be and turned to the finally cleared battlefield as Kendo scolded Monoma for his behavior, again. It was time for the next match and they were all waiting to see how it would be as the commentary began because they were certain that Asta would win it, it was just a matter of how he won it.

"It's time for our third match of the second round and the second of three inter Hero Class matches in this round!" Present Mic said as Asta and Mimosa walked out of their sides and into the area heading for the stairs. "And it's not just an inter Hero Class matchup but another recommended v. normal student just like the last one. That's right, from Class 1-B, the recommended mistress of plants, Mimosa Vermillion, verses, the first student since Eraser Head with the ability to neutralize Quirks, the swordsman Asta of Class 1-A!"

"My Quirk and Asta's work in different ways." Aizawa pointed out as the teens walked to the steps and began climbing them. "But both do have similar effects."

"That they do and it will be interesting to see how this match will play out seeing as Anti-Quirk works after a Quirk has been used rather than preventing its use like Erasure." Oobleck said. "And against Plant Seeds, well I wonder what the strategy will be them."

"Yes, another great looking matchup and the first between teammates from the Cavalry Battle so they should have some good awareness of how the other's Quirk works." Port said as Asta and Mimosa crested the stairs and walked onto the battlefield. "I for one can't wait to see how it plays out."

"I'm not holding back just because you're a friend Mimosa." Asta said with a grin as he came to a stop his plan already in his mind, it was simple and effective though he would have to be careful given both Mimosa's versatility with the seeds she could create and the area she could affect once she made her seeds sprout. "This is a tournament and I intend on winning it against Yuno in the final so I'm not holding back against anyone who I have to face between now and then."

"I'd expect no less, Asta." Mimosa said as she flushed, Asta had called her a friend and it got her heart racing a bit as it was the first step to something more but she quickly pushed that from her mind as now wasn't the time to dwell on that. "And I want to win as well so I won't hold back either despite our fr, friendship."

The issue for Mimosa in this battle was a bit more complex and unfortunately as she was looking at Asta she couldn't help but dwell on it. Since meeting Asta she'd felt drawn to him but seeing him in the Cavalry Battle when she'd joined his team, the way he led them, his strength, and the praise he had for her, well she had a different kind of seed planted and it was already taking root in her heart.

She wasn't sure if it was that just yet but she was getting flustered seeing Asta, got jealous when he praised Noelle for how good she looked as a cheerleader, which Mimosa admitted did look strangely good on her cousin, and then the way he'd handled Tetsutetsu in the round before had really shown her how strong he was. This may not be good but even with her growing feelings, Mimosa wouldn't dishonor Asta, or herself for that matter, by not giving her all.

"That's just what I like to hear." Asta said still grinning. "Let's do this then."

"Yes, I'm ready." Mimosa said as she did all she could to push her thoughts from her mind. "I'm going to show you just how good I am, Asta."

"Alright folks, battle begin!" Present Mic said.

Instantly two rends appeared in the air on either side of Asta and the handles of his swords appeared there. He knew he could summon both to dual wield them but he'd never tried summoning both at the same time like he did now. He was glad to see that it worked as he'd hoped it would and he grabbed both, drawing them from wherever they came from as he charged at Mimosa.

Mimosa was naturally not idle as she pushed down her feelings and created a range of seeds from her palms and arms that she tossed at Asta before making them grow either right away or as soon as they hit the ground. From them burst a mix of vines and roots of various kinds that twisted and mingled as they shot out across the battlefield both over the top of it and in the air as they closed on Asta. He just grinned at that.

"Not going to work." Asta said as he slashed his smaller sword at the vines in the air and the large ones on the ground to hit the roots there making sure to cover as much ground as possible with his swords. "You're going to have to do better than that Mimosa."

She realized that right away as the moment Asta's swords made contact with her grown plants they withered and crumbled away faster than even she could make them die when she wanted to clear up after using her Quirk, the mixing of them meaning that he basically hit all that had been grown. The result was that Asta was able to run through the now dead plants that Mimosa had no control over and continue towards her as she backed up a bit to try and give herself some more room.

Anti-Quirk, it was one hell of a Quirk to face off against Mimosa realized because just one touch of the edge of the swords and her plants were done for, neutralized and her control over them was gone. She needed a moment and quickly went defensive tossing out more seed that instantly burst into a bamboo wall before her that blocked Asta.

"That won't stop me!" Asta roared as he leapt up and at the bamboo wall, spinning in the air to slash through it, the bamboo withering away as he did with what he hit being cut despite the blunt blades. "What else have you got!"

Still roaring Asta crashed through the bamboo that was now dying and began to fall towards Mimosa. Getting a little desperate, Mimosa tossed out more seeds but before she could grow them Asta twisted the large sword in his hand and hit them with the flat of his blade sending the seeds speeding away and burying into the grass outside the ring where they burst as Mimosa's mental grow command happened and revealed large trees, not that she noticed as Asta was now falling directly towards her and she realized that she had no way of avoiding or blocking his attack.

"This is it!" Asta said as he raised both swords over his head ready to bring them down like he had on Tetsutetsu, this was the Sports Festival and he had to treat it like real so he couldn't hold back against Mimosa because she was a friend and a girl. "I've…"

"I give up!" Mimosa yelled as loud as she could hands in the air as she came to the conclusion that she had no way of beating Asta in this battle, she was truly outclassed by him and seeing it only deepened her growing feelings and gave her motivation to get stronger so that she could stand by his side one day. "I yield, you win Asta."

"Vermillion gives up." Midnight said with a crack of her flail. "Asta wins."

"Crap." Asta said as he suddenly realized the predicament he was in with Mimosa's surrender and tossed his swords up and behind him where they disappeared as he dismissed them before he pitched forward thanks to gravity. "Sorry."

"Wha…" Mimosa began before Asta finished his arc by crashing into Mimosa as she'd not gotten out of the way in time, a crash that came with a very audible 'boing' as the pair made contact with each other.

That was because Asta had spectacularly crashed head first right into Mimosa's chest and her natural airbags that her PE kit didn't do much to hide took the impact of Asta's face as he brought her to the ground landing on top of her, his weight on her and he face buried in her chest though thankfully the fabric of her shirt helped prevent it from being too bad. Regardless, Mimosa went bright red at that as she realized what was going on and that as embarrassing as this was, which given the whole situation was in the middle of a stadium full of people it most certainly was, that she didn't mind it at all.

"Damn, huh that didn't hurt as much as I was expecting." Asta said as he placed his right hand on the concrete and pushed himself up, legs on the ground, and looking up as he placed his left hand down to steady himself as he got his bearing. "Wonder why it…wait, why am I not touching the concrete?"

"Eep!"

That was all that Mimosa managed to get out when she felt Asta's hand make contact with it and as such she now a glow beacon of redness as she looked down to confirm it. Yup, Asta, in his attempt to get up, had, with spectacular obliviousness, placed his left hand right on Mimosa's right breast. To add to the whole situation he instinctively grabbed it and squeezed confusion on his face as Mimosa's went through a whole range of emotions below him.

"Why is the ground soft." Asta said, noticeably his hand was smaller than what he was currently holding. "I…"

"Asta!" Mimosa yelled getting his attention and he looked down at her.

"Why are you red Mimosa?" Asta asked completely oblivious to everything and apparently not concerned that he was on top of her. "It's not shameful to surrender when…"

"That's not it!" Mimosa said as she tried to get out what she knew she had to get out. "Ha, hand, your hand is kinda, kinda in a place you shouldn't touch without permission!"

"What do you…" Asta said before he looked further down and finally realized what he was grabbing and instantly let go as he leapt up and off Mimosa bright red himself and bowing profusely. "I'm so, so, sorry, I didn't mean it."

"My Asta, we know what you like then." Midnight teased from her spot though he couldn't hear her which was good because he probably couldn't handle it. "I like a man who is direct with what he likes in a woman, especially when his tastes lean towards well-endowed women."

"What is going on down there?" Present Mic asked as the crowd processed things so they missed what was going on in Class 1-A's box during all of this. "That looks like something that would happen in a manga, not the U.A. Sports Festival."

"I don't know but best to ignore it, leave it to Mid…" Aizawa said before clearly realizing what he'd been about to say. "Wait, that may be a bad idea. Cementoss then."

"Agreed." Oobleck said.

"Yes, he's the one who should handle anything related to this." Port said. "Not the R-Rated Hero."

Asta naturally heard none of this as he kept apologizing and bowing to Mimosa. She was still bright red, her heart pounding, but she was recovering from it and as she did she couldn't help but admit to herself that she had liked it despite the situation. Asta's hand was strong but gentle and she couldn't help that she had a bit of a situation going on that made her really glad to be a girl.

"Asta, it's ok, it was an accident and accidents happen." Mimosa said to her before timidly adding. "I, I didn't mind it."

"Oh ok, well still, I'm sorry." Asta said as he stopped bowing and came over to her to offer her his hand. "Let me help you up at least. You're not hurt are you?"

"Th, thank you and no I'm fine, I can take a knock to the ground without a problem." Mimosa said taking his hand and going red at the contact as he helped her up before he let go which she found she didn't want him to do. "Well done. On beating me that is."

"Thanks." Asta said with a smile. "But we should head off, the next match will want to start soon."

"Right, yes we should." Mimosa said still blushing as they turned to walk off the battlefield.

They left together, Mimosa making any of her plants that hadn't been effected wither and die so that they could be easily cleaned up while the crowd processed what happened. The biggest reaction was naturally taking place in Class 1-A's box as they'd all seen how that battle had ended and one of them in particular wasn't taking it well.

"Asta! You, you absolute pig!"

The yell was of course Noelle who was staring wide eyed in shock and trembling with rage at what she was seeing. She'd been barely containing it since he decided to face plant into Mimosa's chest, which Noelle couldn't deny was impressive and almost at Momo's level when it came to size, but the moment he got a full handful of Mimosa's right breast she lost it. Naturally she told herself that it was because Asta shouldn't do that to another person and not because she wished she was the one getting felt up by him, not at all.

"Well that was unexpected." Nero noted idly from next to Noelle as they all heard Monoma also complained from the box next to them now that the second of the three members of Class 1-B who'd made it this far was knocked out but they just ignored him. "First the faceplant then that, Asta went straight for the chest. It's certainly a bold tactic."

"How does that even happen?" Weiss asked, she'd made it back from her loss before the start of the match thanks to how long it took to clear Todoroki's ice though her right arm was in a sling and she had bandages around her left hand and head from the blows she'd taken in her match as well as holding cold ice for that long. "It's got to be hard to face plant there."

"It's not as hard as you'd realize." Ruby said idly as the jealous anger was streaming off Noelle was now palpable to everyone but Midoriya who was making notes on how the battle had gone and Ochaco who was next to him and starting to get nervous for her own battle that would end the round. "I fell right into Yaoyorozu's cleavage after the recommended exam ended because I stumbled when she helped me up. It was a little embarrassing as I'd just beaten her only to show her what a klutz I was but at least it was a soft landing."

"Come again." Weiss said jealousy bubbling up in her at Ruby motorboating another girl, especially one with such a spectacular chest as Momo, before she quelled all the roiling confusion within her surrounding, well, everything which also ensured that she'd forgotten that Ruby had told her about this once before though Weiss had been interrupted by Uraraka before she could ask back then. "You did that to Momo?"

"It was an accident and I didn't mind." Momo said unhelpfully, her tone clearly showing that she really didn't see anything wrong with it which was typical Momo from what Weiss knew seeing as the girl had a completely natural and non-sexual attitude towards nudity. "I was helping Rose up after she beat me and got distracted by her eyes so it was my fault."

"This would be after that race that was your practical, right?" Weiss asked with forced calm as Asta finally seemed to notice what was going on though she certainly agreed with Momo on one point, Ruby's eyes were seriously distracting. "So you'd have been, you know…"

"Well this is amusing." Nero noted as Weiss devolved realizing the attire that Momo had to have been wearing at the time so that she had ample access to her Quirk while Noelle continued to rage while Ruby was totally oblivious. "Their jealousy is hard to ignore but their denial, that's something else. Honestly, I'm impressed on some level but their denial."

"It happens Weiss, manga is real at times hence why it's in manga." Ruby said trying to calm Weiss down. "And we're girls, it doesn't matter. Remember how we met?"

"I, well…" Weiss said as she tried to calm down before recalling how she and Ruby had met and devolving again.

Weiss tried but as she did she couldn't help but dwell on the fact that her chest was nowhere near good enough for that, which Ruby knew first hand from their meeting and bathing together during training, and she wanted Ruby to do that to her…wait did she want that? Weiss was so confused about that now and Ruby talking about all this wasn't helping her at all.

"Teach me your ways Asta." Mineta said with a bow of his head behind them. "You are the master and I will be your humble student if you teach me how to attract and feel up girls. Please sensei, show me the path to boobs."

"Dude got a really good feel, I'm jealous." Kaminari said from next to him. "Those looked impressive from what I say, like Yaoyorozu level impressive."

"We will ask him afterwards." Mineta said. "The lucky bastard should be able to tell us just how those boobs felt. Plus he was carried by three girls, he's got secrets to share with us. They're wasted on him when those like us who truly appreciate the female form could really benefit from them."

"Yes, we must learn them." Kaminari agreed. "First Silva and Nero and now that Vermillion girl in Class 1-B, he's building himself quite the harem. He's got to have some…"

"What are you perverts talking about!" Noelle yelled as she stood up and turned to them finally breaking from her rage at Asta and needing an outlet and after hearing the tail end of what the two perverts were saying they would be that outlet. "Well, spill, what about me and Asta!"

The two boys were cowed into place as those around them wisely backed away. The rage coming from Noelle was not a good sign and they all knew how bad her Quirk control was so mixing her rage at Asta's accident, her clear feelings for him that she was in deep denial to the point of violence about, and the sheer power she had with her Quirk, well that wasn't a good combo.

They needed to be away though Nero did remain close ready to basically seal up Noelle's body to try and stop her if it got bad but for the moment she watched as Noelle gave into her emotions with a healthy outlet for them cowering before her. It even drove Weiss from her own issues as she watched the situation unfold.

"Just, well, you two are close right?" Mineta said nervously as he looked up at Silva. "We all see it and given how you just reacted to what happened with Vermillion, well he's a lucky bastard."

"Yeah to be with a girl like you, he's done really well." Kaminari added completely misreading the relationship. "Plus he's always with Nero so aren't you three, you know…"

"No we aren't Asta's just a friend and nothing more!" Noelle yelled as she raised her hand water flowing from her item at her side but only from it as she formed it into a good sized ball of water over her palm. "Got that. He's not even felt me up yet, so how…wait…"

"You want him to?" Mineta said the jealousy in him towards Asta, well jealousy and respect, for having gotten this smoking hot rich girl to fall for him overriding any common sense regarding the fact that said smoking hot rich girl was also a powerhouse who if it wasn't for her lack of control would be on Todoroki's power level. "Damn, that lucky…"

"Shut up!" Noelle yelled as she realized what she said and brought her arm down with the water moving in time with her actions as she reacted instinctively. "I didn't mean it like that ok!"

The perverts could only raise their hands before the water slammed into them and drove them through their chairs and into the ground of the box with a loud crash. The force of the water and the tightness of Noelle's hold over it made it like slamming bricks into them so they were knocked out cold as the water burst up and around them once it had done its work. Panting a little, Noelle let the water fall drenching the area but her concentrated attack had ensured that no one but the perverts got wet.

"Woah." Jiro said as she looked at Noelle her eyes wide. "Silva can be punk rock as well."

"That was scary and cool at the same time." Ashido added. "So that's what she can do if she had control over her Quirk, damn girl you're going to be really strong one day."

"Well Noelle, you did it." Nero said as Noelle panted not seeing Asta help Mimosa up and they walk off so that the next match could start, which given her current state was probably a good thing. "You didn't miss that time."

"I'll say." Weiss added. "Well done on multiple fronts."

"I'll still beat that." Ruby said idly more focused on Noelle's power than that she'd just knocked out the class pervert and his partner in perversity. "Right Midoriya?"

"Huh, what'd I miss?" Izuku asked as he finally looked up from his notes that he'd been making since the battle ended with Mimosa's surrender and thus completely missing the entire aftermath of Noelle's reaction and then putting the perverts in their place but before anyone could answer Izuku noticed that the next match was about to start so he added. "Oh, it's Ida's match I wonder…"

"What is he wearing?" Present Mic said over the speaker getting everyone's attention and they looked down to see that as Ida walked out to face Hatsume he had a special rig on for some reason. "Is that even allowed?"

"Technically no." Aizawa said as the two students climbed the stairs. "He didn't fill out the proper paperwork to use support equipment and as far as I know he doesn't have a reason for it either."

"Very true." Oobleck said. "Only the Support Course can bring in items they make, the other courses are only allowed if they fill out the proper paperwork and have a valid reason usually related to Quirk discomfort or previously established control issues as we've seen with Aoyama's belt and Silva's water focused pack and rod."

"Yes it is a shame that the Huntsmen track students can't use their weapons but that does add for some intrigue in the Sports Festival." Port said as "Will it be allowed though; it seems like Midnight is pointing out the rule that Hero Course can't use support items unless they have to."

In response to Midnight Ida made his case on the field, he was loud enough to actually be heard, about how he didn't know that he had to fill out a form as he thought it was ok because of Aoyama and Silva's items. However, when his opponent approached him after his last victory and offered him the gear to make it a fair fight seeing as she'd gotten this far in the Sports Festival he was moved by her sportsmanship of his opponent so he wished to wear the gear to honor her.

That caused Midnight to very inappropriately swoon over the youthful vigor on display and allow it. Allowing it was fine but the way she went about it was not.

"Really?" Present Mic asked. "She's allowing it?"

"She is the official and if everyone agrees then it is ok." Aizawa said. "Right?"

"Regardless we can't question Midnight's decisions." Oobleck said. "She's in charge of the Sports Festival for the first years. Remind me again why we agreed to this."

"She begged for it and then threatened to put is to sleep if we denied her wish." Port said. "So…"

"Will you men shut up." Midnight yelled at the commentary booth her voice carrying because of the mic she had on. "I've decided and that's final."

"Right, then it's decided seeing as everyone's on the same page." Present Mic said his voiced cowed a little. "Now it's time for the 4th match between Tenya Ida of the Hero Course and the only non-Hero Course student who even made it past the second event, the Support Course's Mei Hatsume!"

"Sportsmanship?" Izuku asked as they watched and he noticed a small smile grace Hatsume's lips. "Er I don't think that will be the case. It doesn't' seem like something Hatsume would do."

"What do you mean?" Nero asked.

"Hatsume is rather…interesting." Izuku said as he tried to figure out how best to describe Hatsume having spent enough time with her to get a good feel compared to the others who'd either never met her or only met her once and either not interacted with her or in Ruby's case bursted away when Hatsume almost felt her up. "I think she's taken advantage of Ida's trusting nature."

"She's all about hyping up her items to get noticed by the big support companies." Ochaco said as the match began. "She chose Deku for the Cavalry Battle for…and there we go."

"I bet you love how fast that gear I lent you makes you, huh." Hatsume said her voice amplified over a speaker that she had on her like it had been in the round before as Ida began to run at her. "Makes your legs feel lighter than usual, which is to be expected as I designed those leg braces specifically to increase the wearer's speed and mobility which makes them especially useful for someone like Ida who has a speed based Quirk located in his legs. Of course I can still easily evade you despite your speed the hydraulic attachments."

At that Hatsume was raised up on telescopic extensions that activated before Ida got to her and tripped him as Hatsume seemed to look to the crowd while Ida recovered. All the class could do was watch as Ida turned to try and get her after Hatsume landed but she was raised up on hydraulics without looking at him, that had been allowed by sensors in her pack which she noted, and Ida tripped over it and almost fell over and out of the ring.

However, thankfully for him the weird things on the top of the gear he'd been lent activated and not only stabilized him but moved him back to safety without causing him to fall over at all. The entire time Hatsume was commenting on her items, which she insisted on calling babies, and how they worked as if she was pitching them, which she was.

"This is weird." Present Mic said as they watched the match devolve in a way no one had expected. "What's going on down there?"

"She's turned the Sports Festival into on big commercial for her gear." Aizawa said with a groan. "At my student's expense no less. The only takeaway from this is that Ida can learn from it and not get tricked again."

"True there will be villains who trick people in the field rather than just use brute force." Oobleck said. "Be it with wits, Quirks, sex appeal, or something else so this is worth learning now. The advertisement part, well at least it's better than what Sally did last year but then again it is harder to get worse than almost violating multiple international treaties. That was a nightmare to deal with afterwards."

"The Support Companies will like this at least." Port added giving some positive spin on it. "But, er, how long will this go on for."

"So what I'd…" Asta said as he got back and headed down to take his seat next to Noelle who pointedly didn't look at him and turned her head away with a huff as she was still upset at how what she'd seen him do. "Er what's going on?"

"What do you think Dorksta, you fondled my cousin and not me." Noelle said before she realized what she'd said and quickly correcting herself. "Wait, no I didn't mean it like that or that you could do that to me or that I wanted to, just, well, you shouldn't touch a woman like that?"

"Huh? I wasn't talking about that; Mimosa forgave me because it was an accident." Asta said confused at what Noelle was going on about as she started to babble while those around, other that Izuku and Ruby, just blinked at his obliviousness. "I was talking about the battle, why is Ida wearing that, why is that pink haired girl talking about babies, and why does this seem like there is some kind of sales pitch going on down there?"

"Oh, well, er…" Noelle said going bright red and looking around for help as she was now in a massive hole with no way out it seemed.

"Hatsume has taken advantage of Ida's serious, trusting and honorable nature for her own advertisement ends to show off as many of her items as possible." Nero said coming to Noelle's defense to put her out of her misery, for the moment at least until the next time Noelle's feelings ran rampant when it came to Asta. "She's basically turned him into an interactive billboard for her own ends. It's a good lesson for all of us though, be careful of opponents who don't use force."

"Just how many items does she have?" Ruby asked as Hatsume kept showing off and hyping up her items while staring intently at the row of boxes in the stadium every few moments for some reason. "Weiss, would your dad be watching this?"

"Yes but I don't think this is what he'd be interested in, she's too creative for his tastes and besides none of her items use Dust so he wouldn't want to hire her." Weiss said. "That requires special training and my father likes to have a monopoly on that, Hatsume isn't the kind of person he'd want."

"She does make interesting items." Izuku said. "But this is really strange to watch."

The others nodded at that as they fell into an awkward silence as they watched their classmate suffer for his trusting nature. What followed was 10 more minutes, and countless more babies that had many questioning where Hatsume was pulling them from, as Ida constantly tried and failed to stop her before she finally felt like she'd shown everything and stepped out of the ring.

It was so anticlimactic that it took a moment for Midnight to confirm that Hatsume had given up and Ida had advanced, which he was pissed at, but she didn't seem remorseful for her actions. That was how the 4th match of the second round ended thus concluding the first half of the round.

"Well that was something." Asta said as Nero got up to leave and wait for her match, Tokoyami doing the same. "And I didn't really get a sense of Ida's skills for the next round."

"I just feel bad Ida." Ochaco said. "He trusted Hatsume because he's a good guy and look what happened. At least he advanced which is good."

"He'll learn from this in his own way." Weiss said. "He's good at seeing meaning in things when there may not be any so I expect him to bounce back soon."

"It was something else but you're right Schnee, Ida will learn something from this." Izuku said as he flipped through his notebook. "The next matchup shouldn't be like this though; it will be a good one."

"That's right, it's Yuno's turn and he may be the only one in our class left but unlike the other two he'll win for sure." Monoma said popping up with a laugh and a slightly deranged look in his eyes as his class's final remaining student was about to go following Shinso and Mimosa's losses. "Just you watch."

"This match will be good." Asta said. "I expect Yuno to win it so I'll give you that."

"Oh he will and then you'll…" Monoma said but before he could finish he was hit by Kendo again and slumped down.

"Sorry, he's just putting all the class's hopes on Yuno now that he's all we have left, which I am sure you can understand." Kendo said peaking her head over the side. "Don't mind him."

"It's fine, this one we won't win." Asta said, which surprised Kendo but she just returned to her class to scold Monoma yet again though at this point no one knew why she even bothered as Monoma clearly wasn't listening. "Yuno won't lose it."

"You sure?" Ojiro asked from behind them though at least an extra row back given the damage that Noelle had done when she'd knocked out the perverts, who were still out cold as no one was bothering to deal with them at the moment. "Midoriya, is Asta right?"

"Probably." Izuku said as he flipped to Momo's page in his notebook to see what he'd written about her and compare it to what he'd seen from Yuno so far. "She's talented and versatile but so is Yuno and his speed with his Quirk is really good. She's got a chance but Asta is right, Yuno's the favorite I'd say based off what we've seen."

That got to some of the class and they thought on it as the commentary began and Yuno and Momo walked out of their sides. This was going to be a different match for sure as the last member of Class 1-B still in the Sports Festival took the field against one of their recommended students and unlike the other matchups against the other Hero Course Class, this one felt more uncertain but they'd support Yaoyorozu in it as the second half of the second round began.

"Alright folks after that strange 4th match, it's time for our 5th match of the second round so we're just past the halfway point now!" Present Mic said to the cheering crowds as Yuno and Momo walked out and to the stairs. "And in this one we've got the recommended creator who can make anything inorganic come out of her skin, Momo Yaoyorozu of Class 1-A against the sole remaining member of Class 1-B, the master of the stars who topped the entrance exam and orchestrated the great theft of the 10 million headband in the Cavalry Battle, Yuno! Who's got this boys?"

"If the last round is anything to go by this will feature another test." Aizawa said. "A wise idea in the Sports Festival where you can do it without having to worry about what would happen if you were to mess it up in the real world."

"Precisely, there are few places that this can be safely done but the speed in this round allow for it." Oobleck said as the pair began to climb the stairs. "I wonder what aspect or aspects will be tested though."

"Given the versatility on display in this match there are a few things that it could be." Port added. "So let's see what it is."

"I'm lost but whatever let's hope it's good." Present Mic said as Yuno and Momo walked into the ring. "The last match was so strange that this has to be normal, right?"

"Anything would be compared to the last match." Aizawa said as Oobleck and Port agreed.

Momo didn't really get what the commentators were saying but she knew that she couldn't take the tall, admittedly handsome in an upper class way, though he was not her type, boy lightly. He'd been the architect of her team's stunning drop from 1st to 8th in the Cavalry Battle that meant that they barely made it to the final round, shown impressive skills to beat Todoroki and Bakugo in the Obstacle Race to come second in it at the very last second, easily handled Kirishima in the last round though she'd not seen it, and had attained an entrance exam score only the Wizard King and All Might had topped.

She may be a recommended student but Momo wasn't going to let that status go to her head in this match. Naturally, she already had a plan that was set in her mind so she knew what she needed to create to win this matchup. What she had in mind would get past that shield she'd heard Yuno had created that could withstand Kirishima's strength.

For his part Yuno was confident that he had this match as he came to a stop and looked at the classic beauty before him, not that he really paid attention to that kinda stuff as Yuno had no time for romantic interests. He was solely focused on winning and becoming the next Wizard King, the only other thing that mattered was catching up to Asta for his rival was still ahead of him. Not only did Yuno see that in general but in the Sports Festival in particular as Asta had already punched his ticket in the quarterfinals, now it was his turn to do the same.

While Yuno knew that he could win this with easy just as he had against Kirishima the round before, the girl may be recommended with a strong and versatile, Quirk but it's weakness was a lack of speed that Yuno didn't lack, he wasn't going to go for the quick win like he could. He'd win without moving and do so in a way that made it clear that a recommended student wasn't above him but she had a talent he could use as a way to test a new defensive idea against without having to worry about testing it in the field where if it didn't work it could mean death for him.

"Not going to say anything?" Momo asked surprised at how quiet Yuno was being. "Your class tends to be a bit talkative when facing us."

"That's just Monoma and Tetsutetsu." Yuno said in a neutral tone. "I'm here to win for my own sake, that's all, I don't care for the plans and schemes of the others hence why I didn't go along with them. You are but one block between me and the final where I will beat Asta."

"I won't be that easy to beat." Momo said confidently, she may have lost some confidence after what Yuno's team did to hers in the Cavalry Battle but she'd started to get it back with her strong win over Awase and now she was going to show it against Yuno. "I don't lose often, I was raised to always win, to do my best to come top."

"Upper class arrogance I see." Yuno said misinterpreting the girl's confidence for arrogance as no one would call Momo Yaoyorozu arrogant despite her background. "Very well, you'll learn that class means nothing. I'll beat you without moving and even allow you one attack, I need to test something anyway."

"Don't be overconfident." Momo said defensively, she may be from the highest of upper class families but she wasn't like what Weiss and Noelle had been when they arrived though Ruby and Asta had already done wonders for them that Momo didn't understand how as years hadn't changed the girls but weeks with those two had. "I'll show…"

"Begin!" Present Mic said and as soon as he did Momo unzipped her top.

Yuno didn't move, he just watched without emotion or interest as the sparkles appeared on Momo's abdomen and side before a canon emerged from her body. Apparently the girl liked to make canons, he'd heard one go off in the Obstacle Race so it had to be her, but he continued to do nothing as she formed the canon next to her. He wasn't even phased by the girl showing off her stacked chest in her sports bra, he'd seen that when she finished the Obstacle Race and he knew that if he was to be a Quirk Knight and then the Wizard King he couldn't let something as mundane as exposed skin distract him in battle.

Momo had no idea why Yuno hadn't moved but she wasn't going to pass up what she saw as an opening as she fired off the canon ball that had been in the canon when she made it. She'd made it such that it should break through the shield of stars he'd made and in the smoke that the explosion caused she could get in close and use a metal staff to beat him. That was her plan, simple but strong to get past his defense and win, or at least it was until Yuno raised his hand as the cannonball was fired off.

This was his test, a new application of his transportation stars as a mode of defense against ranged attacks that his constellation shield couldn't withstand. He'd had a feeling that Yaoyorozu could create something to test this so he was going to do so now that she'd proven his assumption right, with a back up to evade, before he quickly won.

He didn't need his back up though as the teleportation star he made in the path of the cannonball instantly transported it to one behind him and to the side so that the ball missed him and proceeded to slam into the concrete wall of the stadium with a boom that kicked up a lot of smoke. When it cleared there'd be a crater in the wall but that would be after the battle as Yuno now knew for certain that he'd won it.

"What, how did…" Momo began her eyes wide before she let off a yell of pain as a dozen blasts of starlight slammed into her back at the same time.

She'd been so shocked by the way Yuno hadn't used his defensive stars but a transport one as defense that she'd not noticed his offensive ones form behind her a split second after her cannonball had been transported away and fire before she could react. Yuno had toned down the force such that it would knock out a normal human without any enhancements and that's just what it did, the force and pain of the blows overwhelming Momo's system and knocking her out pretty much right away.

The last thought that passed through her head before she passed out as she pitched forward was how on earth had she been so utterly defeated. It was a defeat that shattered her confidence and she'd be really feeling that when she came to.

Yuno knew none of this, he just watched as his opponent fell forward, eyes wide and white to bounce off her cannon, her breasts taking the blow thanks to their size, and twisting to fall onto her back, arms splayed and clearly out cold. He'd not moved an inch for the second round in a row as he quickly dispatched his second opponent and advanced to the quarterfinals.

"Yaoyorozu has been knocked out." Midnight said with a crack of her flail. "Yuno is the winner."

Yuno just turned at that as the robots came out to take Momo away, and haul off her cannon to wherever her creations were stored, and walked off the battlefield as the crowd cheered and the commentators discussed what they'd seen. He even ignored the smoke from the crater the cannonball he'd teleported away had caused as he left. It was all irrelevant, he'd advanced and there was one thing on his mind as he went back to his class's box, which was really cheering his win, that he spoke aloud as he walked into the tunnel.

"I'm coming for you, Asta."

"That was quick." Ojiro noted as the match ended. "You were right Asta, Yuno didn't lose that but it was faster than I was expecting."

"I was more surprised that he let Yaoyorozu make her cannon." Izuku said as he made notes, he'd been so in the match that he'd not realized that Uraraka had left during it and with Silva and Rose in the match after the next one, which had Nero in it, and Ida still not back from his own 'victory' their little group was noticeably smaller than usual. "Why did he do that."

"To test himself." Asta said his insight surprising those around him as usually Asta wasn't the most insightful unless he was in the fight himself and then he could be once he figured out what was going on. "He wanted to see if he could transport an attack from range that had the potential to get past his constellation shield. I wouldn't be surprised if he was ready to block it with his defensive stars or transport himself somewhere safe on the battlefield but he Yaoyorozu likes her cannons so he got a good opportunity to test against powerful projectiles."

"You actually got that from the battle?" Weiss asked. "How? Usually its Midoriya who understands that stuff from just watching it, not you Asta."

"I grew up with Yuno, I know him well and I should seeing as he's my rival." Asta said with a shrug as the cannon was slowly hauled off the battlefield thus delaying the start of the next match, one of the strengths of Yaoyorozu's power was that her items were permanent but that permanence had other issues associated with it. "He's always getting stronger just like I am and he's using these battles to do so. Didn't you notice in the last round how he didn't just put a transport star in Kirishima's path to teleport him out of the ring?"

"I did." Weiss admitted. "I was wondering why he didn't do that in fact."

"I was too." Kirishima said. "But it was also so manly of him to do that that I don't mind losing to him."

"Right, he could have won with ease that way but he wanted to test his shield's strength against your Hardening Quirk, Kirishima." Asta explained. "Then, against Yaoyorozu, he was testing a new defense and when it worked he quickly dispatched her as he knew he'd won and didn't want to waste any more time or energy than was absolutely necessary with that battle."

"Huh, interesting." Izuku said noting it. "So…"

"The loudmouth is right, Yuno's toying with you losers." Monoma said interrupting Midoriya as he popped up over the partition between their boxes and getting their attention though he misinterpreted what Asta had said. "He could win with ease but he wants to make it clear he's the best, letting Yaoyorozu think she had a chance and then ending her was genius just like how he let Kirishima tire himself out in the last round. That will show you arrogant pricks that we've still got some fight, Yuno will win the Sports Festival, just you watch."

"He didn't mean any harm to Yaoyorozu." Asta said. "Nor is he toying with us, he was just testing himself using Yaoyorozu's strength and when he was done he didn't make her suffer or prolong it while also giving him a chance to determine how much power he needed to knock out a 15 year old girl of above average height but with no physical enhancements. Yuno's good, I know that, and I expect him to beat either Tokoyami or Nero in the next round but he's not a dick. Lady killer who gets the attention of all the girls sure, but not a dick."

"You really are dense." Weiss said with a sigh. "Noelle's going to have a hard time with you, I just know it."

"Shut it, it's not like you know…" Monoma said as Asta didn't hear Weiss, he was looking at Monoma so saw when he was hit and slid down out of sight to be replaced by Kendo.

"Sorry for that, that should be the last time for this round now that we only have Yuno left, which also means that he won't do this much during the quarterfinals either." Kendo said. "See you in the next round. Monoma, that's Yuno's brother so of course he knows him. Now sit down and…"

Kendo's voice trailed off as she dipped back down to pointlessly scold Monoma which at this point just seemed to be an ingrained habit for her. As she did Izuku looked around and noticed that Uraraka wasn't there but her drink that she'd gotten after her win over Kendo was on her seat with the ice all melted.

"Where's Uraraka?" Izuku asked.

"Probably getting ready for her match at the end of the round." Weiss said as the cannon was finally fully removed from the field so the next match could start. "You should go make sure she's ok Midoriya. I think that will help ease her nerves."

"Yes, she is facing Bakugo so she could use a friendly face." Ida said, he'd come during Asta's explanation for why Yuno acted the way he did in his battle against Yaoyorozu but was still reeling from how Hatsume had used him so was only just getting back into it though Weiss noted that his reasoning was because of their friendship whereas she'd already picked up that Midoriya was special to Uraraka in a way that was likely beyond friendship. "Go, we'll let you know how the other matches play out."

"Right, thanks." Izuku said as he got up just as the commentary began.

"So, who's got this Asta?" Ojiro asked turning to Asta for advice on this match now that Midoriya wasn't present. "You know Nero pretty well, right?"

"Yeah she's got a lot of talent as we saw but she needs physical touch for her Quirk to work and Tokoyami is strong at ranged combat." Asta said as Nero and Tokoyami walked out to the cheering crowd. "So it will come down to if she can touch him or not."

The others nodded at that as they settled in to watch the remaining battles of the second round. All 3 where matchups between their classmate so there would be no Monoma to bug them, they could just relax and enjoy the coming battles starting with Tokoyami v. Nero.

"Well after that quick match and removal of the cannon that was created it's time for the 6th of the second round." Present Mic said as Nero and Tokoyami made their way out of the tunnels and to the battlefield. "This time we'll see the dark bird with the Dark Shadow that seems to be unbeatable, Fumikage Tokoyami against his Class 1-A classmate, the girl who has shown us that Sealing is a Quirk to be reckoned with, Secré Swallowtail1 Thoughts guys?"

"This is ranged verses close combat." Aizawa said. "So if the former holds than that will win, if the latter can touch then that will win."

"Pretty much but there is a clear advantage to one side unlike last round." Oobleck said. "I'm more curious as to if Sealing can seal a Quirk like Dark Shadow in or not, and if so how would it work."

"That is the question." Port said as the combatants reached the top of the stairs and walked onto the battlefield. "Will Swallowtail be able to show if that can work though?"

Nero didn't pay head to the commentary; it was obvious what this match would come down to and the commentators were just noting it as they should. Could she get to Tokoyami in time to seal Dark Shadow or not? That was the question and She figured that as he came out of Tokoyami's body she could theoretically seal him in or out if she got a hand on Tokoyami, the former was better but the latter at least restricted Dark Shadow's mobility. If she did manage to do that that would be her opening to get a hand on his throat and force a submission. The issue was could she get to him in time.

Tokoyami knew that as well as they came to a stop facing each other. He could summon Dark Shadow out in a fraction of a second and he'd have to if he wanted to keep the girl at bay. She got a hand on him and it was over, he'd seen how she'd handled Honenuki in the last round so he wasn't going to take her lightly. Still, there was a psychological element to battle and he was going to start there as he looked at the short girl with horns on her head.

"Swallowtail?" Tokoyami asked, he'd heard the name in reference to Nero before but never brought it up until now. "You don't use your familial name then."

"No, I don't." Nero said her tone neutral; she'd not explained this to Tokoyami yet so she didn't mind doing so once. "I go by Nero but they have to use my legal name for the records. You can call me that if you want but I'd prefer not to as that name doesn't mean anything to me anymore."

"Very well, if that is your wish." Tokoyami said. "Just asking. As one bird themed person to another I had to."

Nero just nodded at that; she acknowledged the bird element of her name though there was nothing to it other than her name. Still, it was there and Tokoyami was all about the dark bird theme so she'd let him have it. Besides, Nero meant black in Italian the name she'd been called when…well she didn't want to think on that, but she'd liked it and it had been given to her when she had nothing else hence the choice to keep it despite having to use her legal name at times.

"Begin." Present Mic said.

"Dark Shadow!" Tokoyami yelled.

"I got her!" Dark Shadow roared as he burst from Tokoyami and charged at Nero.

Nero wasn't being idle, she'd rushed forward as soon as she could but in seconds Dark Shadow was on her, he really was fast, faster than Nero had expected in fact, and she tried to make a hard cut to the side with Sealing in her left foot. It worked slightly but Dark Shadow had long arms that he extended and intercepted her as she tried to get past him and swipe her with it to send her back and out of the ring. She grunted as she just got her arms up to block and was forced to slide back over the concrete a few passes as Dark Shadow pressed his advantage.

However, the moment that Nero could safely seal her feet to the ground to stop her slide she did. As soon as she did she came to a stop and she ducked down, slamming her palms on the concrete to seal them there as well for added stability as Dark Shadow passed over her.

That gave Nero the opening she needed and she unsealed herself as she launched forward but rather than get up she surprised everyone by staying low and using her hands as well as her feet in a strange run to close in on Tokoyami while keeping low while always sealing and unsealing her hands and feet as she moved. It wasn't what Tokoyami was expecting but he called back Dark Shadow and had him raise his hands to bring them down on Nero's back as she ran.

With a roar Dark Shadow did just that, slamming into her at the moment that Nero wasn't touching the ground so didn't have Sealing active and driving her into the concrete with a gasp of air from her lungs and enough force to hit her face on it. Thankfully she turned it at the last moment so it was only a glancing blow but she could already feel the bruise forming on her cheek.

As a result, Nero was laid out flat on her chest but she kept her hands flat on the ground, sealing her palms to it as she gasped for air. That was a hard blow but she was still in it and she'd gotten into position so she began to crawl over the ground, panting as she gritted her teeth through the pain, bruises on her face, chest, and back from where she'd been hit by Dark Shadow or hit the concrete but she looked up as she began to pull herself with Sealing towards Tokoyami who looked surprised that she was now doing this.

The reason for this position was simple, it was the safest Nero could be in. After hearing how Tokoyami had handled Ashido in the round before she knew that while she could prevent herself from being knocked back with Sealing from her feet the force would likely break her ankles if she tried that while standing up. This way she could get close and avoid be driven back while also allowing her to shift directions should Tokoyami move. Basically, from this position he had one choice if he wanted to win and she was going to force him to make it.

"Please, Nero, don't make me and Dark Shadow hurt you anymore." Tokoyami called out as Nero crawled, the pain there but she was pushing through it as she moved and not wanting to try to seal it away lest she give Tokoyami a better opening. "That was a hard hit, there's no shame in giving up if you can't win."

"I agree, there is no shame in surrender when you know you cannot win but I'm not at the point of surrender." Nero said as she picked up her pace and forced Tokoyami to take a few steps back. "A hero no matter what the branch should be able to handle pain and touch situations, she should only flee if it's truly such that she can't win. I can still win because this way I can avoid being pushed back by Dark Shadow. If you want to beat me Tokoyami you're going to have to knock me out. Screw my gender or state, there will be plenty of times that a hero has to win decisively to end the threat a villain poses, if you faulter I will reach you and the moment I touch you I've won."

"Very well, have it your way." Tokoyami said with a sigh of resignation as he understood what Nero was getting at and taking another step back. "Dark Shadow, knock her out."

"Right." Dark Shadow said his own voice a little reserved but he did as he was told and swooped down to slam a fist into Nero's back with what he thought was enough force to knock her out. "Sorry girl but you need to lose, Fumikage's going to win this whole thing."

Nero couldn't say anything she was driven into the ground again and gasped from it but she pushed through the hit and started crawling again. It took two more blows from Dark Shadow before she didn't start crawling again afterwards. Rather, Nero slowly tried to get up to do so but she was at her limit of what she could take and with a cough that splattered blood on the concrete her eyes rolled into the back of her head and she collapsed limply to the ground, no glow from her hands but noticeably well past the midpoint of the battlefield.

She'd force Tokoyami to not hold back though, that was good that would help him as he grew as a hero and that was the last thing Nero noted before she passed out on her chest, head to the side, still a good few feet from Tokoyami. Midnight waited a moment but it became clear that Nero wasn't getting up so she cracked her flail.

"Swallowtail is unconscious." Midnight declared. "Tokoyami is the winner."

"Thank you, you taught me what I didn't realize I needed to know about combat." Tokoyami said as he bowed to her. "I won't forget this, Nero."

At that he rose and walked off as the robots came onto the battlefield to take Nero to the infirmary. She had shown Tokoyami that there would be times where you had to knock an opponent out cold in order to win and he'd take that with him going forward. However, as he left the battlefield he was thinking hard on his next round. He didn't show it but he was nervous for the quarterfinals because he was facing Yuno next and those stars emitted a fair bit of light. He and Dark Shadow would need a good plan if they hoped to get past that and advance to the semifinals of the Sports Festival.

"That was, interesting." Weiss noted as the match ended. "Why'd she crawl after that first hit? It was clear that she wasn't going to win but she pressed on until she was knocked out."

"Sealing allows Nero to seal herself to things." Asta said. "So she wasn't at risk like Ashido was in the last round but she needed to be low to get close without risking breaking anything."

"Still a bit of a surprise." Ida noted as the robots reached Nero and loaded her onto the stretcher to take her to the Nurse's Office. "And that was rather brutal at the end."

"It was a valid strategy though." Asta pointed out, he understood combat and had seen his own passion in Nero there because he didn't give up until he'd either won or was knocked out and she'd done that there. "There will be villains who don't give up, I don't give up either actually, so sometimes the only way to win is to knock your opponent out which is what Tokoyami did. I don't think he wanted to but that forced him to do so if he wanted to beat her."

"So there was a lesson there, how wise." Ida said as Nero was taken off the battlefield. "We can learn so much from our classmates. I wish Midoriya was here to see it. We must tell him when he returns."

"We will but it's time to support Noelle." Asta said as the next match was about to start. "She's got this, I know it."

"Speak for yourself, Ruby will win." Weiss said. "She won't let Noelle beat her. A Silva's got nothing on me let alone someone like Ruby."

"Nah Noelle's going to win, I have complete faith in her." Asta said.

"Ruby." Weiss said as they glared at each other supporting their respective best friends in their upcoming showdown much to the amusement of the others around them.

No one said anything more to that as the commentary began and Ruby and Noelle began to walk out while Asta and Weiss forcible looked at the battlefield determined to loudly support their friend in this battle. This was the first match within their little group so it was going to be interesting for sure, especially given the styles of the girls so Asta and Weiss really got into it as the 7th match was getting hyped up by the commentators.

"It's time for the penultimate match of the second round and this is a battle of recommended girls, or as good as recommended at least." Present Mic said as Ruby and Noelle walked out. "In this Class 1-A matchup we've got the recommended speedster Ruby Rose against the special exemption water controller Noelle Silva so this is going to be good. What are my boys' thoughts on this?"

"Silva still hasn't shown an offensive use of her Quirk." Aizawa said. "So that is something to factor in but she did win in the round before without using it offensively so she can fight though the tactic she used last round won't work this time around. Rose on the other hand, well her family's close combat reputation is well known."

"That it is." Oobleck said as the girls began to climb the stairs. "We didn't see it last round but we might this round depending on how well Silva can counter Petal Burst."

"Yes, speed will be the key to this match." Port said as the girls reached the top of the stairs and walked onto the battlefield. "I can't wait to see how it plays out."

Noelle couldn't lie, she was nervous about it. She may have hit the perverts earlier but the range was so close that she practically couldn't miss and she was angry because of what Asta had done to Mimosa and not her. As soon that came into Noelle's mind she crushed it because it wasn't like she wanted him to feel her breasts or anything, it was just wrong for Asta to do that even if it was an accident, that's all.

With a calming breath Noelle settled her beating heart and focused on the battle at hand as she knew that she wouldn't have the advantage she had when she hit the perverts against Rose. No, the shorter girl was going to be tough and Noelle knew it. Weiss clearly admired Rose a great deal and that was not something Weiss did with anyone, at least not in Noelle's time in knowing the Schnee heiress, so she didn't take that admiration lightly. Add in that Rose was a true recommended student with speed, expert Quirk control, and a tactical mind and Noelle knew she was at a disadvantage.

However, she was a Silva even if she'd been banished to U.A. because of her failure to control her Quirk and she'd beaten a Vermillion in the round before, albeit with an extremely low blow, so she couldn't afford to lose. She liked Rose, even saw her as a friend though she wasn't on a first name basis yet, but she couldn't afford to lose.

For her part Ruby was ready for this match and knew what she had to do. True, Silva had a powerful Quirk, possibly even the most powerful in the class when it came to raw power, and while Silva lacked offense at the moment her defense was really strong now. However, Ruby had a plan to get around it because while Silva had the power, at the moment she had the Quirk control and that was what would win it she felt.

"No hard feelings Rose but I have to win." Noelle said as they came to a stop waiting for the battle to begin her wand already in her hand as she waited. "I can't lose, I have too much to show."

"As do I, Weiss may have helped me get over it for the most part but I still have some lingering doubts about the recommendation I got." Ruby said her tone getting serious. "Beating a Silva will help in that regard, plus Weiss lost so I have to win. Also, please call me Ruby now, we're friends, right? You call Weiss by her first name and I know she sees you as a friend so please do the same for me."

"Very well but if I do so then call me Noelle." Noelle said with a smile, she'd never really had friends before coming to U.A. well other than Mimosa to some extent while she knew Weiss and Momo well due to their social circles, but since coming here and since Asta, Noelle had started to come out of her shell more and she realized that she liked it. "It is only right."

"Sure Noelle." Ruby said with a smile. "I…"

"Battle begin!" Present Mic said suddenly cutting off any chatter.

"Sorry, time to beat you." Ruby said as she pushed off the ground and burst into her Quirk.

"Not going to happen." Noelle said as she willed the water out of her pack as fast as possible without even raising it. "Let's see Petal Burst get past this, Ruby."

As Ruby sped at Noelle, Noelle showed her own skills that she'd been honing in the weeks leading up to the Sports Festival as the dome of water complete with the swirls within formed around her just before Ruby could reach her. While Noelle hadn't been able to figure out how to improve her offensive accuracy, she had honed her defense by working to create the dome as fast as possible. Now it was paying off as it went up before Ruby reached her. That would give Noelle the time to thing as Ruby shouldn't be able to break through it.

At least that was what Noelle was thinking right up until the moment Ruby didn't slam into her dome while in Petal Burst. No, to Noelle's surprise, Ruby burst out of her Quirk right before the dome, planted her right foot on the ground, and leapt through the water in her normal form.

It was actually a risk on Ruby's front as she wasn't sure that Noelle's water dome could be breached when she wasn't in her Quirk but she was sure it couldn't when she was in her Quirk as Noelle's defense seemed to be geared towards holding off Quirk based attacks. From what Ruby had learned about this move, the little she did learn, it could withstand thinks like fire and ice, probably more unless it was something like Asta's swords so rather than try, Ruby just burst out and leapt through it.

That worked and while she was instantly soaked, Ruby ignored that as she passed through the water and into Noelle's dome as Noelle's eyes went wide. Ruby didn't waste the advantage that she had as she placed her left foot on the ground and pushed off it bursting into her Quirk again now that she was past Noelle's defense. In the close confines there was no way that Noelle could avoid it and Ruby reached her in full burst less than a second later to slam into her friend's chest.

The only thing that saved Noelle from certain defeat was that the close confines was such that for once Ruby wasn't able to use her impressive acceleration to get to full speed like she normally could so she wasn't at that when she hit Noelle. That didn't mean that it didn't hurt and Noelle gasped as the full swirl of Ruby hit her and blasted her back, her hold over the water broken so it rained down on the girls getting Noelle wet and Ruby wetter as she was thrown back and towards the edge of the ring.

As she did, Ruby burst out and landed on her feet, sliding over the ground to come to a stop as she watched Noelle fly back. While this looked like the winning blow Ruby didn't underestimate Noelle so she wasn't going to celebrate until it was confirmed that Noelle had lost.

Meanwhile, Noelle was in pain and winded from the blow but nothing was broken and she still had enough sense as she flew back to thrust her wand out and grab some of the water in the air around them and take control of it. As soon as she felt it in her hold, Noelle brought it back to her to catch her in the air before she hit the ground and float there held by the water which only soaked her more but at least it kept her safe. She'd realized that she could use her water like this in the Obstacle race so she did so now to stop herself from falling to the ground and out of the ring.

Ruby had to admit she was impressed; Noelle's control had gotten a lot better since they'd faced off in the battle trial and Noelle had really gone out of control but Ruby hadn't been recommended for nothing. Ozpin didn't make mistakes like that, and Ruby showed that as she pressed forward the moment it was clear that Noelle wasn't going to go out that easy. She needed to change her tactics to win this and Ruby did as she burst into her Quirk again and shot at Noelle just as Noelle got herself under control.

Thus, before Noelle could start to think on what to do next, Ruby was on her but rather than hit her again Ruby burst out in midair right above Noelle where she floated and glomped her in a bear hug much to Noelle's shock. That was just the first stage though because the moment that Ruby had ahold of Noelle she burst again, this time heading up holding the other girl so that they were a two toned swirl that shot up above the battlefield, Noelle's swirl a slightly lighter than royal blue color with matching petals that fell with the red petals of Ruby as they moved up.

"Sorry for this but I need to break your concentration if I want to win, you're control is so much better by the way" Ruby said as the burst out close to the apex of what Ruby could reach on a burst upwards with Ruby now holding Noelle's biceps in the air as Noelle tried to process what was going on. "Try to brace the fall."

Before Noelle could say anything Ruby whipped her head back and then forward slamming her forehead into Noelle's nose in a vicious headbutt that dazed the silver haired girl just as they reached the apex. As she was dazed, Ruby let go and flipped forward in the air as Noelle fell back, blood coming from her nose now, and tucked her knees to her chest.

Then, as she finished her flip, Ruby pushed out to slam both booted feet into Noelle's chest, her breasts taking a good amount of the force as Ruby double stamped the other girl to blast her back and to the ground. As she did, Ruby used the blow to backflip herself off Noelle before bursting into her Quirk and arcing down to the concrete.

Noelle was more than dazed as she was tossed back, the headbutt had really rattled her and she was barely conscious as she fell towards the ground, the stamp just adding to everything. Still, she had just enough strength to pull the remaining water she had in her pouch out and get it behind her to cushion her back and take most of the force of hitting the ground, which happened a moment later in a jarring motion that caused Noelle to gasp out what little air she had left in her lungs as the blood ran from her nose and over her upper lip to trickle down her cheeks.

She had no strength anymore but at least she'd done this much as the water burst and Noelle dropped the last few inches to the ground to land on her back gasping there as Ruby reformed just before she reached the ground and landed in a crouch well within the bounds of the battlefield. Alas for Noelle her head and shoulders were out of the ring thanks to the angle of the stamp.

"Silva is out of bounds." Midnight declared with a crack of her flail. "Rose is the winner."

"Well, that sucked." Noelle said as she let out a long breath and her vision began to blacken. "Damn, Ruby really is good, I see why Weiss admires her now, it's…"

Noelle didn't finish as her injuries finally caught up to her and she passed out where she was as Ruby rushed to make sure that she was ok and loaded onto the stretcher properly. She may have won and punched her ticket into the quarterfinals but right now she had a friend to check up on as the robots came out to take Noelle to the Nurse's Office.

"Go Ruby!" Yang cheered. "First girl to make it to the quarterfinals and doing so in dominating style right from the start. Silva didn't stand a chance there."

"That was some expert control." Blake agreed while their classmates discussed Ruby's win and advancement. "She didn't trust that she could break through that water dome with her Quirk, which was smart, and adapted from there. I'll give it to that Silva girl though, she's got a lot of potential with a Quirk like that."

"Well they did say she got in on Nezu's exception which is exceptionally rare and hard to manage." Yang said. "So she's got to have that but right now Ruby's the better one. She's got this Sports Festival, I know it."

"I'm not sure." Blake said a little worried as they watched Ruby make sure that Noelle was ok and loaded onto the stretcher before the robots left with her. "We all saw what that explosive boy could do, he's likely to win the next match and he could be a real challenge for Ruby."

"And?" Yang asked as Ruby finally left the battlefield herself. "She'll beat whoever she faces next, I have faith in my little sister to manage that. Plus a challenge is just what she needs. Come on kitty, we know Rubes, she won't go down easy."

"I know, I'm just being realistic." Blake said as the commentary began for the next match but Yang dismissed it. "Fine, just watch carefully with what is to come."

All Yang did was nod at that as they settled back to watch the conclusion of the second round and see who Ruby would face in the quarterfinals. So far the second round had been good and it was about to end on a bang, they just didn't know it yet.

"Pathetic." Nozel muttered in the Quirk Knight Captains' box. "She didn't even do much more than that dome which can't stop someone not using a Quirk it seems. That Huntress girl got the better of her right away. She's certainly worth your squad, commoner."

"Hey, we'll take her and make her better than you could ever manage." Yami said as the robots took Noelle away. "And there are some others here who I like the look of though neither of these two remaining to battle this round would fit with me."

"The boy reminds me of my Vice-Captain a little." William Vangeance, the masked Captain of the Golden Dawn mused from near them. "I think I may make him an offer, it's rare for a non-declared Quirk Knight to accept but worth it. I already know that I'm going to offer that boy with the dark bird Quirk a spot, I feel like I can understand him a bit though I don't expect him to accept either."

"You do you goldie guts." Yami said as he sat back. "There's only two left that have my eye and both want to be in our branch so they're the focus."

The other Captains nodded at that as they relaxed for the next match though all of them had already ruled out the brash loudmouth with that strange Quirk that they didn't understand who'd groped Mimosa. He just didn't fit them especially compared to the calm, strong, and almost regal Yuno kid.

Only Yami saw something in the loudmouth and he fully intended to show his fellow Captains the error of their ways if they overlooked him, as well as showing why he formed the Black Bulls in the first place. That would come though, first it was time to end the second round and see who the last quarterfinalist was.

"See, I told you Ruby would win." Weiss said with a smug look on her face at being right though inside she was happy to see how Ruby rushed to make sure that Noelle was ok after she passed out as it really showed what a good person she was. "She easily won that match as well."

"Poor Noelle." Asta said as Izuku finally returned to their group now that Uraraka was about to battle. "She did well and showed a lot of control improvement but Rose is talented for sure. Noelle will get better, though, I know it."

"How's Uraraka?" Ida asked as Izuku said down getting their attention to him and forgetting the match they'd just watched as there wasn't really much to react to as Asta and Weiss had pretty much summed it up with ease. "She ready?"

"Yeah, she's got this." Izuku said with a smile as the commentary began and Uraraka and Bakugo walked out for the final match of the second round. "She's got her own plan and I trust her. She doesn't need my help to beat Kacchan."

Izuku had gone to make sure that Uraraka was ok and even offered an idea but she'd shut him down saying that she had to do this herself as Ida had made her realize that she had to do things on her own and Izuku respected that. It was time to see what that plan was as they sat back and the final match began. That plan turned out to be a really clever one that Izuku hadn't thought about even if it was painful to watch.

The match began with Uraraka making it clear that she wouldn't forfeit and rushing Bakugo right at the start, keeping low with hands out to try and touch him but he blasted her back, gouging up chunks of concrete in the process with the force of his explosion. It was clear that his raw power and the ranged nature of Explosion had the advantage but Uraraka wasn't going to back down and even tried to use her shirt as a distraction to touch Bakugo but he saw through it and blasted her back a second time.

From there Uraraka, who was wearing a black tank top under her PE shirt so she was more covered than some of the other girls who only wore sports bras under their shirts, or just pasties in Nero's case, seemed to be going for a fruitless series of low charges that all failed as Bakugo didn't hold back and blasted her back over and over again. All that seemed to be happening was Uraraka getting more and more hurt and the concrete getting more destroyed around Bakugo as he kept her off him with brutal efficiency.

It got so bad, and Uraraka continued to not give up, that someone in the crowd called out Bakugo for doing that to a girl and the crowd turned on him, including Present Mic until he was elbowed in the face by Aizawa who then told the crowd off because these were Hero Course students and giving their all, Bakugo wasn't doing anything wrong which was right. Even Oobleck and Port sided with Aizawa in this regard which really shut up the crowd.

Still it was tough to watch and it looked like Uraraka couldn't give much more as she slowly got to her feet again and again. Whatever the outcome ended up being, she'd shown her resilience and durability, at least until she brought her fingers together and revealed that all this damage that she'd taken had actually been part of her grand plan.

The biggest issue Izuku had seen going in was that there was nothing for Uraraka to touch other than Bakugo himself, or herself for that matter, and she knew that as well. That was why she'd been going in low the entire time to use Bakugo's Quirk to her advantage as it had the power to tear up the concrete and give her things to touch, which she did as she was blasted back using the explosions as cover to sent a massive amount of debris high into the air. Now, as she felt like she had more than Bakugo could blast away, she released it and it rained broken concrete down on Bakugo.

Not satisfied with just that, Uraraka rushed Bakugo one last time as she channeled Midoriya, not that he knew that, to get in close and touch him but Bakugo had raised his left hand, braced his wrist with his right hand and unleashed a massive explosion unlike any he'd shown before. It was such that even he felt the backlash of it, hence the bracing to prevent his wrist from breaking from the force he was using, and blew away all the concrete from the attack and tossing Uraraka back before she could reach him.

She now had nothing and was struggling to get up but she managed it as Bakugo grinned following the impressive attack as it made him get serious and he actually used her name, a sign that she'd done enough to earn some respect in the battle, as he charged her. Alas, that had been it for Uraraka and while she managed to turn to face Bakugo she wasn't able to take more than a step before all the damage finally took its toll and she fell to the ground.

All the class could do was watch as Uraraka tried to get up but they all knew that she was past her limit though she managed to crawl a little, which Bakugo still showed he was ready to fight as he was clearly no longer taking Uraraka lightly, but she didn't make it far. She was barely conscious and Midnight came onto the battlefield to confirm that Uraraka couldn't fight and as she crouched to tough the girl's back they saw Uraraka pass out. That was it for Midnight and she announced that Uraraka was out and that Bakugo had advanced to the quarterfinals.

"And that is it for the second round!" Present Mic said as Uraraka was taken away by the robots on a stretcher so that Recovery Girl could heal her. "I wanted her to win but oh well, I guess Bakugo is moving on."

"You realize that you're supposed to be unbiased." Aizawa said as Bakugo turned and left the battlefield. "That's the whole point of this gig."

"We're only human, we have our favorites." Oobleck said. "And Uraraka showed a lot of grit in that match, as well as a sound tactical mind to use Bakugo's Quirk against him."

"Yes, I myself was rooting for the girl but such is the nature of a tournament." Port said. "Those we like don't often win."

"Very true so let us try to forget that unfortunate outcome." Present Mic said. "Despite our hopes Bakugo has advanced."

"Or not." Aizawa said with a sigh. "Why do I even bother?"

"With that the second round has come to its completion!" Present Mic continued clearly ignoring Aizawa. "It's time for a brief break and then it's back for the quarterfinalists. Folks, here are your elite eight students still remaining in the first year's Sports Festival!"

The board changed to reveal headshots from their official Sports Festival photos in two rows on the jumbotron, the top row being Izuku, Asta, Yuno, and Ruby with Todoroki, Ida, Tokoyami, and Bakugo under them in that order which made sense as those were the matchups in the next round. 8 remained and it was time for a little break as they all got ready for the next round of the final event of the Sports Festival to begin.

Another long, action packed, round of battles in the Sports Festival has come to an end and it is time to move onto the quarterfinals. 8 remain to vie for the title and soon that will be reduced to four, who will make it though? Well, stay tuned as thanks to the crossover only one match of the four coming in the next chapter is canon so there's a lot that could change but to kick it off it is the canon match and I wonder how the class will handle Midoriya v. Todoroki. Unfortunately, y'all may have to wait a bit longer than normal for it as due to IRL stuff I cannot commit to a new chapter in 2 weeks. I will try but I won't promise it so it is more realistic that the next chapter is 3 weeks off so more anticipation time. That is all that I have for this long chapter, there's not as much to cover now that the final event is in full swing, so I will leave this chapter off here. Anyway, that is all that I have for this massive chapter so I will leave it off here. If you like this story please follow, favorite (this story and me) to keep up with it and leave a review or PM, your support is what helps motivate me to keep up this work and any questions posed before the next chapter is uploaded I will try to answer. Until next time.
