Here is the fortieth chapter in this story released in accordance with my release schedule for this story. Unfortunately, due to the business of the real world, I will be unable to update any of my stories until the end of January at the earliest and more likely it will be early February but such is life. Anyway, the internships have officially begun and already the Black Bull interns have a mission that they are about to go on but are they the only ones? Well it's time to begin that mission and find out if they are the only ones and if not then what that might entail for them and how it might impact the mission to come, providing nothing else also impacts the mission of course. That is all that I have for the administrative stuff I have for y'all and while there are no questions to answer here there are two guest reviews that need a response, one of which will involve a question to y'all, so I will do that now. Do keep them coming as your support is the best motivation for me to keep producing chapters at this kind of rate.

To Guest (guest), yes a good info dump, there will be others but the last chapter was the main one for the Quirk Knights and tied a lot of things together with some good references that I could make. A fair bit of that will play into the future for sure, especially the main ones for the Quirk Knights so stay tuned for that. As usual there will be plenty of VA references and they're going to go up soon enough with what's coming. Naturally, I won't answer any questions that could be spoilers, you'll just have to read and find out. Do keep reading and enjoying my work.

To Nathan Ramos (guest), that is certainly something that might happen, there's a lot to deal with when that rolls around and it will be a long ways off but that is a likely scenario. As for the Witch Queen, while it is possible that she's that old, her Quirk could ensure she's older than most and remains fertile beyond what is normal biologically, she can't have created her own cult. I'm sorry if it was unclear in the previous chapter but the cult that is the Coven has existed since before the Advent and the Witch Queen was born in it even if she was born around the time of the Advent like the recent revelations with All for One. She also wasn't the first Witch Queen of the Japanese one, she took over after the last one almost brought ruin onto the Coven with her policies and delivered her to the Heroes and Quirk Knights as part of a truce. She may know about All for One but that is it, I don't really intend for her to know about Yochi or One for All, I haven't even decided how many new characters know about it beyond probably the Wizard King and Ozpin. The Witch Queen may still play a role in the story but right now that roll is unknown. I hope this clears up things. Do keep reading and enjoying my work.

That is it for this slightly shorter than usual pre-chapter note so it is time to sit back and enjoy the fortieth chapter in Black RWBY Academia.

Disclaimer: I own nothing related to these three great franchises.

Chapter 40: First Mission Friction

While Asta, Noelle, and Nero were meeting the Black Bulls and dealing with their initiation followed by a welcome feast, Yuno and Mimosa were also getting to know what their internship would entail albeit with less fanfare and revelry and more studious learning and discipline. Then again the Golden Dawn had a reputation for efficient professionalism that the Black Bulls did not have despite both Squads being formed at the same time but such was the nature of their Captains and their respective goals with the Squads that they'd been asked to form by Julius.

For the Golden Dawn that was a desire to be the best of the best and strive for utter professionalism through efficient work as Quirk Knights and all that started with their headquarters. Yuno blinked at it as he stepped out of the door along with Mimosa and Klaus, his usual stoic nature and lack of impressiveness at things like this keeping him from being shocked at the sheer opulence before him. This was the best Quirk Knight Squad, that was why he'd chosen it from amongst his many offers, that appearance of its headquarters didn't matter to him.

That said it was an impressive building, even Yuno had to admit that. The whole building was set atop a flat and well maintained plateau with scenic views all around it that had to have been made by a Quirk to accommodate the structure. That said, there was a clear tactical reason for such a location which Yuno respected as it was the highest point for leagues and so they had a good view in 360 degrees with an ability to quickly act.

The building itself was grand as Yuno looked more at it. Right in front of them was a square, high walled, courtyard with a circular tower on the front left corner from Yuno's position that was likely some kind of watch tower with a gazabo like structure in the middle of the far wall that connected to the main structure that loomed over the whole thing. There was another courtyard to the side of the base with one side open to the air that was no doubt used as a quick exit for missions and several more towers but the main structure to completely cover the various lookout angles but the actual building still drew the eye.

That was because it was a tall, layered, building reaching several stories into the air as it got progressively but tastefully narrower while keeping its pillar and square architectural style complete with a conned tower peak at the top and two more at different levels and plenty of balconies. It was certainly a structure that caught the eye and it was noticeably taller than U.A. to Yuno's eye though as he looked at it Klaus got the wrong impression of his reaction.

"Impressive isn't it." Klaus said a smug note in his tone. "Only the best for the best Quirk Knight Squad. Not even the other top locations like the Endeavor Agency or Beacon Agency can compare, only Might Tower can and even then it's a modern skyscraper and not a piece of classical architecture like this. Naturally, all of this is too fancy for low born commoners like you to truly appreciate but it's grandeur can be noticed by anyone."

"It is rather in your face but it is at least tasteful at the same time." Mimosa admitted as she looked it. "My family's estate is similar if not as spread out."

"As a member of one of the three Great Houses I expect no less from you, you are worthy of being here Vermillion." Klaus said. "And you are the first member to join us even for something as small as an internship. Another sign of our supremacy over the other Quirk Knight Squads, we've reached this spot without the aid of the Great Houses."

"Thank you, I am trying to forge my own path and this was the best offer for that." Mimosa said a little offput by Klaus's attitude but it was nothing compared to her brother's so she could manage it. "And I'm glad that Yuno is also here with me, it helps to have a classmate."

"Yes, I am glad to have the chance to learn from the best Quirk Knight Squad." Yuno said his tone neutral. "It is an honor."

"Thank you, I was most impressed with your performance in the Sports Festival and am glad that you accepted my offer, Yuno." A new voice, one that sounded vaguely familiar to Yuno and Mimosa and which Klaus knew well, said getting their attention and the three students turned to the entranceway as a man walked out. "Same with you Miss Vermillion. It is a shame that none of my other offers came to fruition but many these days seek the glory, fame, and riches of the normal track path and it is hard to persuade them to take duty over all that, well for an internship at least but who knows come the work studies."

The man speaking had walked out and now stood before them giving Yuno and Mimosa a good look. For the most part he was rather unremarkable standing just over 5 and a half feet in height and wearing a simple, clean, white uniform of a white, double breasted tunic with a blue stripe down the middle and golden forearms with purple fur lined cuffs, gold buttons, and gold hems, a gold belt, and white pants tucked into black knee high boots.

Over it he wore the traditional robe of a member of a Quirk Knight Squad, which in this case was gold over a longer red underrobe that came down to his ankles with a purple fur lined hood and a red sash from the clasp to his right shoulder. Right over his heart and embroidered on the robe was a gold crest of a rising sun with eyes over rolling hills and a three towered castle in the foreground, the symbol of the Golden Dawn.

However, none of this compared to the man's head. That was because, unlike most Quirk Knights, he was wearing a gaudy mask that covered the top half of his head from the bridge of his nose up and was mostly gold in a swept back fashion with a blue patch over the left eye hole, red rimming the right, and white and red fur lining it on either side. Finally there were a few white feathers sticking out of the back on the left hand side. All this left only his purple eyes visible above his nose.

It was ornate and over the top but neither first year questioned it or why the man wore the mask especially because the mask alone denoted who the man was. He was none other than William Vangeance, the Captain of the Golden Dawn.

"Captain." Klaus said bowing deeply while Yuno and Mimosa also bowed to him in a formal and respectful manner to the man who had offered them this internship. "We have arrived on time as expected."

"I can see that; Cobb is most efficient with his gates after all so I expected no less." William said with a small smile as they rose. "So, I only got two from U.A. this time. I am sure that Yami will gloat about getting three and the silver medalist at the next Captain's meeting but then again I didn't offer Asta an internship so I couldn't have gotten him. Still, Fuegoleon won't be happy that Yami poached such a promising prospect from him as I am sure he wanted Asta as an intern as well."

"About that sir." Yuno said seriously. "If I may ask, why didn't you offer Asta an internship? He out performed me and reached the final though we did both lose to the same person in the end. Surely he was worthy of an internship offer as well."

"Perhaps though do remember that you two had different paths to the final so him going further is not a reflection on whether or not he out performed you." William said. "Do not forget that you came second in the Obstacle Race, almost first but for Izuku Midoriya's rather unexpected tactics in the minefield, and ensured that your team came first in the Cavalry Battle with a very clever plan that utilized your team's strengths well. Those are also factors in this."

"I understand, I see that I am looking too narrowly." Yuno said realizing what Captain Vangeance was getting at. "Thank you for this insight."

"It is part of my role as a Captain to see this and mentor those under me so it is my pleasure." William said with a small smile. "As for Asta, while I did not make him an offer, I do not understand his power, his personality is too abrasive to be fostered well in the Golden Dawn and would cause too much friction within our ranks for Squad cohesion is as important, if not more so, than strength. I don't deny that Asta has talent and power, I just know that he's not going to be suited for us. In all honesty, Yami is the best Captain for him I feel and can bring the best out in Asta. I know Yami well so I can safely say this. Asta made a smart choice to go with the Black Bulls despite better offers. Seems like he's wiser than I thought."

"He's not." Yuno admitted. "Asta's strong and talented, he is my rival after all and even though you made some fine points, sir, I do consider myself to be behind him at the moment, but outside of battle he's not the brightest. If I had to guess it was the two girls he's always hanging out with who convinced him. They're in his class and close with him, he's too loyal to leave them."

"I see well that is admiral and in the end it will serve him well I am sure." William said as Mimosa felt a tightening in her chest that she didn't understand at the thought of Asta being in the same Squad as Noelle, and Nero to a lesser extent, even if she knew that Yuno was right. "And you chose us, Yuno, I am grateful for that. I feel like you will do well with the Golden Dawn."

"It is why I chose your Squad, sir." Yuno said. "I appreciate this opportunity that you have afforded me."

"Well you will have plenty of time to learn and soon." William said. "Because your first mission with Klaus has already come in. There is a bit of time before I can send you on it, Cobb is busy and unlike the Black Bulls we don't have a Warp Quirk user in our ranks, well not one who can manipulate space for transportation at least, there are a few things to go over to prepare you for it."

"Of course, mission preparation when there is time is very important." Klaus said. "Just one of the many reasons why we're the top Squad."

"Yes, information and preparedness are valuable weapons and we can afford both for this mission." William said pleased that Klaus understood things like this but then again he wouldn't be a work study student and future full time member if he didn't. "On that front, Klaus, please show them to their rooms, they have already been selected and are the ones for interns and work study students, where their robes are. I expect all three of you to change and meet me in the library in half an hour for your briefing as I am sure that Mimosa and Yuno will need some understanding before going in as this mission involves the remnants of a Diamand Company base."

"Of course sir." Klaus said as William nodded before turning and walking back into the base while Klaus addressed the two first years. "Come you two, best to not keep the Captain waiting. We are the best for a reason and punctuality is another one of those reasons."

"Yes, I am ready to learn about this mission and do my best on it." Yuno said with a nod as they walked into the base with Klaus taking the lead and escorting them around the courtyard in the covered walkway that bordered it while a fountain burbled in the middle of it. "And by robes…"

"The Captain means the over robe that you will be allowed to wear during the internship." Klaus said as he adjusted his glasses. "You have not earned the right to wear the uniform or full under robe which is actually a specially designed support item for field work. Those come when you are a paid member of the Squad so starting with your work studies, if you impressive enough to earn one that is. We are the only Squad to have an actual uniform, one we take great pride in so it is an honor to wear one, one you have to prove to the Captain that you deserve to wear."

"I understand and I will ensure that I show my worth this week." Yuno said, even though Klaus was a bit of a fussy ass with some classist attitudes he was still in Yuno's Squad and that made him Yuno's friend and by extension family, he just had to get through to Klaus and he was sure that in time he could. "Don't you worry about that."

Klaus just huffed at that and didn't say anything else as he silently led them around the courtyard and into the main base. From there he led them through richly appointed corridors to one of the various wings before taking them up a few flights of stairs to the sleeping quarters. The higher level was for the women and men weren't allowed there so Klaus simply told Mimosa to head up to the next floor and look for the door with her name on it at the end of the corridor so that she could change and come down which she thanked him for before he led Yuno to his room at the end of the corridor.

"This is where you'll be staying." Klaus said as he opened the door and led Yuno into the fancy room. "It's better than you deserve as a room like this is wasted on the likes of a commoner like you but I can't go against the Captain's decisions and clearly he sees potential in you despite your low birth. Your robe is on the desk, change and meet me at the stairs in 20 minutes to go to the library and get our mission and an explanation of your duties for the week."

With that Klaus turned and left the room leaving Yuno alone for a moment. He was more than fine with that as he looked around the room and took it in with a glance. It was far to over the top for what he was used to with fancy golden furnishings, a large mirror and windows, an ornate red carpet, and a large bed but it would do as Yuno only needed it to sleep in it and use the desk.

It was to the desk that he went and placed his costume case down on a golden side table and picked up the robe that had been laid out on it. He'd made it one step closer to his goal of one day becoming the Wizard King because he was now part of a Quirk Knight Squad albeit for a week but he fully intended to impress and get that work study offer and that impression started now with this first apparent mission.

Quickly Yuno changed into his simple clothes that he wore for hero activities and then pulled on the robe over the top of them. It looked good and it felt right to have it on as it reinforced that he was one step further on his ultimate path and as part of the Golden Dawn he was in the best place to reach the end of that path. Unlike Asta who needed the right mentor to truly maximize his great potential, and had apparently found it, Yuno could work with any he felt and now it was time to do just that as he was sure that Klaus would be his and Mimosa's mentor.

Well, best to start with a good impression on this mission and so as soon as he was ready he left his room and headed to the stairs where they'd parted from Mimosa earlier. He was 5 minutes early but that was fine with Yuno as he waited there until first Mimosa in her normal hero clothes under her new Golden Dawn robe and then Klaus in his full uniform though differently from Captain Vangeance's his had a red center streak on his chest, blue, gold, and red cuffs on full white sleeves, and a blue under cape, fur collar, and tassel thing appeared right on time.

"Good, I see that you're at least punctual." Klaus said though Yuno felt he'd already shown this earlier in the station but, well, Klaus had been late for that meeting due to his classmates even if he'd arrived before the portal to the Golden Dawn's headquarters arrive. "Come, let's go see the Captain."

With that Klaus led Mimosa and Yuno down the stairs and into the common area of the base. As he led them he curtly pointed out a few places along the way that they should know the locations of like the dining room, the common room, and an exercise room as being in peak physical condition was important to the Quirk Knights and they all had tailored workout regimes they were expected to follow which the first years would get soon enough.

Yuno made sure to memorize all this and he'd brought his PE kit to workout in so that was fine with him. Besides, he occasionally worked out with Asta at school though few could keep up with Asta's workouts, so he was sure he could handle whatever regime the Golden Dawn had for him.

That would come though because first was the mission and soon they were at the library and Klaus led them into a large, spacious room filled with full bookcases and long wooden tables set between the tables to read at. There were even study nooks with private desks around the walls and a few small rooms to the sides if you wanted more privacy. However, Captain Vangeance was at the one of the long tables that ran through the center of the room already waiting for them and so Klaus led them to it so that they all sat across form the man who many thought was the favorite to be the next Wizard King.

"Good to see that you are punctual so I'll cut straight to it." William said as they sat down. "In a few hours you will be sent to a location on the border between the Tohoku region to the north and the Kanto region where we currently are. Because the underground base that was discovered there straddles the border between the two regions and the jurisdiction of the Golden Dawn covers the border with Tohoku, Julius has asked me to send you three to it."

"Sir, while I don't mean to question the Wizard King, I must ask." Klaus said. "Why us? Why not a team of full members with me and not a work study student and two interns?"

"Because Julius has ordered it." William said simply. "Also, frankly speaking, the location in question is a recently discovered but long abandoned base that is believed to have been used by the Diamand Company a little over a decade ago as one of their many secret bases they set up preceding their failed invasion of Japan so there is no need to pull a full member from a more important mission to deal with it. That and a lone wandering Huntsman from the Beacon Agency that oversees this part of Japan, a good friend of mine who I've worked with in the past called Qrow, has already cleared it and the surrounding area of any lingering Grimm though there are a few huntsman teams in the area just in case so you're free to proceed."

"I understand that it is the Wizard King's orders." Klaus said still questioning it even if he saw his Captain's logic in this as if this was what Captain Vangeance said it was then it was indeed a waste of time for a full member. "But I only have a provisional license and these two don't have anything so they can't use their Quirks which is why I don't get why the Wizard King chose us?"

"Because you need field experience without supervision as well as leadership and mentor experience." William said not divulging that there'd be another team sent on this mission. "So this is the best for it as there shouldn't be an issue that requires the use of Quirks to suppress. However, if you do need to use them, well it is an abandoned base underground confirmed to have belonged to a recognized foreign agitator that is currently under the Quirk Knight jurisdiction so you are free to use Quirks in self defense if you are interning providing someone has a provisional license. It's all been authorized by the Wizard King and he personally requested that Yuno go on it so I cannot go against an order like that."

"I see, I apologize for my doubts." Klaus said deferentially as Yuno perked up at the mention of this being a personal request from the Wizard King. "Forgive my importance, sir."

"It's alright, it's a good thing to ask questions about things when you need clarification." William said with a smile. "Now, any other questions? I am sure that our interns have some and I have a few moments to answer them before attending to my other duties overseeing the rest of the Squad in the field while I leave you three to prepare for the upcoming mission."

"I have a few." Yuno said not ashamed at all to ask questions and the first one he had was an important one. "Firstly, the Wizard King asked for me personally?"

"Yes, it would appear that you and your friend Asta both impressed him during the Sports Festival, at least while he was in attendance and spectacularly failing to hide from his duties, which doesn't surprise me." Willian said with a nod. "He often does this with promising students so don't let him down."

"I won't." Yuno said seriously. "If the Wizard King himself wants me on this mission then I will go plus ultra for it."

"I know you won't." William said pleased with Yuno's reaction. "Any other questions?"

"Yes what is this about the jurisdiction you mentioned?" Yuno asked bringing up his second question which had more to it than just clarity for this mission as he felt it was something that he should know about in general. "We've not covered that in Hero Studies yet but I get the feeling that this is something we should really know about."

"Oh I know what that means, my brother and cousins who are Quirk Knights have explained it." Mimosa said and William nodded at her to continue, a member of one of the Great Houses would be better at explaining this. "There are 9 Quirk Knight Squads and 8 overarching regions in Japan. Due to our rural and national defense specialties we are each given jurisdiction over a region which we are the main Squad in charge of with the exception of the Kanto Region. That has two Squads due to the population."

"Correct and we are one of the two Squads with the honor of having jurisdiction in Kanto." William said and Yuno noticed that Klaus bristled with pride at this. "It means we have a great responsibility and for us it's the north and east of the region that we oversee."

"I see." Yuno said understanding what jurisdiction meant. "That makes sense, there are only a few Squads so we should have more space to cover than a standard Hero Agency."

"Correct though it's even more for the Huntsman Agencies as there are only four though their primary duty is extremely specific so it works well for all of us and we make sure to have a good relationship with Beacon as that's the Huntsman Agency that oversees this area." William said. "Now is there anything else?"

"Just one thing and I'd like a lot of information if possible." Yuno said and William nodded for him to continue. "What is the Diamond Company? They sound like an enemy so we should be informed before we go to a former base of theirs but it is early in the semester so we've not covered them yet as the focus has been Grimm and the laws governing heroes of all branches. Even if we don't encounter I am sure that it's prudent to understand them."

"A wise strategy as you should always know your enemy." William said pleased that Yuno had asked that. "And they are one of our greatest enemies as Quirk Knights as they are an outside threat to the nation thus falling into the purview of the Quirk Knights. The Diamand Company are…"

With that William launched into a detailed discussion of the Diamond Company and the threat that they posed Japan, including the chance that they might run into a few members of that organization on this mission to search their former base for the records room as there might be valuable information on the Diamond Company in that room that the Wizard King could use to counter their next attack. It was important that they understand and all three listened closely, even Klaus who knew a fair bit about them already though he'd not met one of their members yet, so that they knew what they were going into.

It was a long chat but a needed one and afterwards William sent them to the dining room to get some food while they prepared more for the mission before they regrouped outside the front of the base at a specific time to get a portal from Cobb to a location near the entrance of the hidden Diamond base. Yuno was more than ready for the mission and eager to prove himself, he just didn't know what he was about to encounter and how it would all set the tone for the internship to come.

"Right this is as close as I can get you as they didn't send me it's precise coordinates so it's a good thing I marked this spot as a good date spot for the future as it's not far from the entrance." Finral said as he stuck his head through the portal after Luck, Asta, Noelle, and Nero had exited it and onto a hill with a tree on it that overlooked a wide area of wilderness along the Tohoku and Kanto border and near the location of the underground base. "It's not far off in that direction. Luck, can you find it?"

"One sec…" Luck said licking his lips as sparks coursed over his body and into the ground as he looked in the direction that Finral was now pointing in. "Yes I got it."

"Good." Yami said sticking his head through the warp gate as well. "Now you know the mission. Go into the base, find the records room, and get all you can before leaving."

"Be careful, they can be a bit tricky from what I've heard as the Diamond Company does love their technology so there could be booby traps." Finral said. "And call when you're done, I'll come get you from this spot."

"Thank you." Noelle said a little nervous for the mission while Nero nodded and Asta grinned in anticipation for the upcoming mission.

"Good now go and surpass your limits." Yami said before he pulled his head back through and then Finral did as well before closing the gate thus leaving them on the hill.

"Right off we go." Luck said cheerily as he began to lead the way. "Man I hope that we find some strong enemies waiting for us there, that would be fun."

"I really hope not." Noelle said and Nero nodded. "This doesn't seem like a good idea given that none of us are full heroes."

"It's training if nothing else." Nero noted. "But I agree, this might not end well so I don't understand why it's just us even if the place is supposed to be abandoned and free of Grimm. Still we have Asta so we've got a trump card if we have to fight."

"True." Noelle said glad that Asta was with them as she already fully trusted Asta, not that she'd say that to his face, so she was reassured that he was here though he was still Asta and he was already stary eyed as he looked at Luck. "But he may cause trouble as well."

"Yeah this is Asta." Nero admitted. "But still better than just us."

"Agreed." Noelle said with a nod.

"Oh wow so you know where we're going?" Asta asked Luck not listening to the girls' chat off to the side. "That's so cool. How do you know that it's there?"

"Oh my Quirk allows for it." Luck said happily and it was true as there was an aspect of his Quirk that alone would have gotten him into a better Squad but his defective personality regarding his love for battles and the sheer brutality in which Luck conducted his battles had caused the other Squads to pass on him. "I can generate lightning and one application of it is as a radar sense of sorts so I send it out over the area around me and I can find things. Usually I use it to find strong opponents but I can find a hidden entrance with ease and it helps in mapping complicated bases out so that's probably why Captain Yami sent me on this mission."

Luck Voltia, Quirk: Lightning Body. Luck can create lighting within his body and use it for various applications. Usually he uses it to create lightning armor over his arms and legs that can be used to enhance his speed and power as well as channel it to fire off balls of offensive lightning from his hands. However, he can also send out low waves of lightning to act as a sort of radar or sonar detector that is unique to him and highly efficient. He's an electrifying all arounder though his near fanatical love for battle and love of challenging tough opponents is off putting to most.

"Awesome!" Asta said stars still in his eyes as they moved. "That's really handy."

"I know right, so good at finding where enemies so I can go and fight them." Luck said as they walked down the hill and turned to walk around another hill. "But right now the entrance is this way so…oh it looks like there are a few people coming right for it as well. They seem strong, this could be fun if they're enemies."

At that Luck suddenly rushed off in the direction of said potential enemies causing the first years to run after him. This wasn't a good start to the mission, and none of them understood how Luck deemed someone to be strong with this aspect of his Quirk, and it only got worse as they rounded the hill to see a channel of ground that had clearly recently collapsed leading down into the ground to a wide, metal, door that was open and probably shouldn't be there with three people just standing at the top of the path as an ornate set of doors with gray stuff in them vanished behind them.

The trio turned to the Black Bulls and all of them recognized each other at once even with the robes and in one case a clear uniform. It was such a shock that for a moment none of them remembered that this location was on the border between two regions, regions that these two Squads had their respective jurisdictions over.

"Oh hell no." Klaus said as he glared at Luck who had come to a skidding stop that churned the ground up a bit with a look of disappointment on his face. "What are you lot doing here? This is a mission worthy of the Golden Dawn not the Black Bulls."

"We could ask you the same question." Asta said glaring at Klaus. "Why are you here?"

"We are here on a personal mission from the Wizard King to get the records that are no doubt hidden within this former Diamond Company base." Klaus said. "So back off, this is actual Quirk Knight work."

"Awe and I thought it would be someone strong." Luck complained. "Well Yuno's strong so maybe we can spar later but not Klaus."

"What did you say you damned berserker." Klaus said glaring harder at Luck. "I am in the best Quirk Knight Squad as a work study student and next year I will be a full member of it. That alone shows that I am stronger than you are."

"And yet you never beat me." Luck said. "I've bested you twice times in the Sports Festival, Magna got you our first year so I didn't get you all three years, and I always beat you in training as well. Also I do so in one shot if I might add."

"Just because steel conducts electricity, which your lightning is the purest form of, doesn't mean that you're stronger than me." Klaus snapped. "It's just that you have the better Quirk in a one on one situation, which as Quirk Knights we try to avoid, and is no different to how your Quirk just powers up Valkyrie while I can beat her with my steel. Besides, thanks to my birth I am better than you in every other way."

"Battles are all that count and unlike you Sir Spectacles, I will keep sparring with Nora until I can overcome her natural defense to me and beat her because she's a strong opponent and worthy challenge." Luck said happily. "So how about another sparring session? I could use a good warm up."

"Enough, I will not entertain this." Klaus said frustration in his voice as he rejected Luck's suggestion. "As I said we are here on a mission for the Wizard King so back off. We've been charged with exploring this underground base and securing the valuable intel that is hidden within in the records room that all Diamond Company bases have. Their need for meticulous records will be of great benefit to us if we can recover them for the Wizard King. We must reach it with all haste, we have no time to involve ourselves with such rabble as the Black Bulls."

"Wow I thought you were bad when we met you at the station but damn you're even worse than that." Asta said looking at Klaus before pointing in his face. "You're a rude, four-eyed, jerk."

"Excuse me! I'm rude?" Klaus asked angrily as turned to Asta and reached forward and grabbed the front of Asta's robe to yell in the brat's face in a very undignified way for his academic and social class superior. "Don't you dare say that again you little brat! I am an upper class, honorable, and duty bound member of society and a future full time member of the Golden Dawn, the top Quirk Knight Squad in the nation! You will treat me with respect! Also I am also your senpai at school so that goes doubly so!"

"And it looks like we're going to get involved." Yuno said with a sigh at how Klaus was reaction to Asta's rather accurate assessment of him. "Should have expected this the moment I saw that Asta was here."

"Respect is earned not demanded four-eyes but I'm sorry there's a four-eyes in my class who I actually do respect so let me rephrase and use what Luck called you." Asta shouted back, not backing down at all. "Sir Spectacles, we are here as well and we will do our mission whether you like it or not."

"Well I don't so you had better back off as you can't possibly be on the same mission as us." Klaus said frustrated and letting Asta go as the others just watched the situation unfolding before them. "This is our mission not yours."

"Well you see we can't." Asta said as he grinned. "Because the Wizard King personally requested me for this mission as well so there."

"Please, like someone as important as the Wizard King would entrust such a mission to a loud mouthed commoner who's doing his internship with the worst Quirk Knight Squad." Klaus said dismissively clearly having forgotten that only a few hours prior Captain Vangeance had mentioned that the Wizard King had taken an interest in Asta as well as Yuno. "Just because you did well in a school tournament doesn't mean you're good. The best in U.A. is Mirio Togata and he's never placed in a Sports Festival. Hell, the cheery berserker here won it once so it's not as prestigious as it thinks it is."

"Well yeah he keeps stripping in them by accident because he refuses to wear that special underwear the Development Studio made him so Togata always ends up losing in the heats as he's got to get his clothes back on." Luck said. "In battle though he's a beast. Neither me nor Xiao Long can beat him and we're offensively the strongest and Xiao Long literally converts physical damage into power. Do you have any idea the kind of force that requires to achieve?"

"That's besides the point." Klaus said dismissively. "I still cannot fathom why the Wizard King would give this mission to you lot, especially because we're in Kanto."

"Actually we're on the border between Kanto and Tohoku." Nero said in her usual neutral ton as she held up her phone and showed the map function to Klaus. "That door literally straddles both sides, a deliberate tactic to divide us I'd guess. There's no way that that base doesn't have parts in both regions so sending Quirk Knights, or in this case students with the Quirk Knights, from multiple Squads makes sense and avoids jurisdictional issues."

"I don't mind." Mimosa said with a smile. "It will be great to work with you again, Asta. Oh and you too Noelle and Nero. We did make a great team in the Cavalry Battle."

"Same Mimosa." Asta said with a grin at her that made Mimosa blush and her heart flutter for some reason which made Noelle uneasy despite not knowing the reason herself and starting to freak out about it as Asta turned back to Klaus. "And Nero just showed it, we can be here as well and so we will be. As I said the Wizard King asked for me so we're here."

"It's inconceivable that interns for the slip shot Black Bulls would be sent here by the Wizard King, especially with only a work study student supervising them, even if one of you surprised your way to the final of the Sports Festival." Klaus said not believing Asta for a moment. "I concede that the border between the regions could mean that jurisdiction can go either way and that we can both claim it because of that but it's just absurd that you're being sent on this mission."

"And yet, as I keep saying, the Wizard King sent me!" Asta said fed up now and getting in Klaus's face as Nero and Noelle just stared blankly at his back and Luck suddenly perked up as his senses found something interesting inside the base that he really wanted to check out. "So it's clear that we're supposed to be here."

"And I don't believe that he would do that, it's just a bold faced lie that he sent you." Klaus said while Yuno and Mimosa just sighed, clearly Klaus's personal classist issues were coming to the forefront and Asta's brash and confrontational personality was not backing down from it in the slightest. "It's shameful that a U.A. student would stoop that low but I guess it can't be helped. I'd heard you'd gotten other offers but chose the Black Bulls, clearly that is where you belong."

"Yeah there's no way that we're not involved now." Yuno muttered though Mimosa didn't mind as she got to work with Asta again, well maybe depending on how things went, and this could actually help Klaus in the long run. "This is only going to escalate."

"It's not a lie, that's what Captain Yami said." Asta said as Luck confirmed what he was sensing and he instantly got a big grin on his face before he rushed away going down and into the recently discovered underground base with an excited whisper that only Nero heard while sparks trailed in his wake. "Back me up guys. I'm not lying about this."

"It's true, the Wizard King did send Asta personally." Noelle said backing him up, this was serious and frankly she'd take Asta's side over Klaus's any day. "I swear it on my honor as a member of House Silva that the Wizard King personally requested Asta for this mission. We've been sent along as fellow interns."

"I second what Noelle said." Nero added. "It's the truth regardless of whether you believe it or not Sir Spectacles."

"Please, all that means is that you believe what your slovenly Captain told you and he no doubt made it up to justify trying to take the glory from the Golden Dawn because this is right on the border of our jurisdictions." Klaus said still disregarding it. "What about you Luck? Do you…hang on where'd he go?"

"Huh?" Asta and Noelle said looking around and realizing that Luck wasn't there just like Klaus had noted.

"Oh he dashed off into the base saying something caught his attention and he wanted to go and deal with it." Nero said. "We've gotten distracted while he's the only one of us who's actually doing his job."

"Well whatever the case that is typical Luck, rushing off into a situation without thinking and leaving behind his teammates." Klaus said the imperious arrogance returning to his voice. "Now he's doing it with first year interns. Even after three years Luck hasn't grown out of this. It's no wonder he's part of the Black Bulls with that kind of attitude. The entire Squad brings shame not just to the Quirk Knights but to all of hero society."

"Oh that is it, you've done it now specs." Asta said glaring at Klaus while Noelle and Nero flanked him from behind both of whom were as annoyed as Asta at the insult to what would almost certainly be the Quirk Knight Squad that they joined after graduation but it was easier to let Asta take the lead as he pointed at Klaus. "The Black Bulls will get to the record room and secure it's contents so much faster than you lot and we'll do it so fast that you won't even know what happened. Just you watch, er Golden Dumb, Golden Dim, wait no that doesn't work…um folded trim? No still not good. Well whatever, you get my point, you're going down."

"That is enough out of a brat like you, how you even got into U.A. astounds me." Klaus snapped back as he started to lose it. "First it's our intelligence and then you insult our Squad, you will pay for that disrespect! How dare you mock the number 1 Quirk Knight Squad in the nation! We've been the top ever since the incomparable Captain Vangeance formed it, do you have any idea the kind of skill and talent that takes! We surpassed the Crimson Lion Kings, Silver Eagles, Blue Rose Knights, and even Aqua Deer which had once been the Wizard King's Squad before his ascension!"

"Big deal." Asta interrupted. "All that means is…"

"Silence you impertinent brat! You should learn to shut up when your betters are talking to you!" Kalus roared. "What it means is that we are the best and we did that even without someone from the Great Houses in our Squad all while you lot were so bad that you've got a negative rating! Worse we look professional and refined while you're led by a man in a ratty tank top who's always flashing is over inflated muscles and smoking like a chimney!"

"Oh I see it now, you're just jealous that Yami's manlier than you, that's it!" Asta yelled back as not phased one bit by Klaus's attitude while the other four just groaned at how this was going absolutely nowhere. "Quirks are physical attributes or did you forget that with your high and mighty egos? Muscles are more important than you think but you are clearly not strong or smart enough to understand that!"

"I am a work study student for the top Quirk Knight Squad and a member of the upper class! I am not jealous of some overly muscular hick who looks like an All Might wannabe with a bad attitude and still uses a katana like it was the feudal era!" Klaus said grabbing Asta's robe getting into Asta's face again. "Learn your place you piece of filth and show some damn respect to your betters!"

"Oh I'm begging your pardon Daimyo Specs, I'm ever so sorry for upsetting your precious and delicate feelings!" Asta roared into Klaus's face not caring for what Klaus was saying as he too grabbed Klaus's robe and got in his face just as Klaus had gotten in Asta's. "Get that arrogant head out of your ass and learn some actual manners like you preach! I'm a poor orphan from the middle of nowhere in the northern reaches of Hokkaido and even I know that!"

"Involved doesn't even begin to cover what's happened here." Yuno said with a sigh as Mimosa awkwardly smiled and Noelle stared white eyed in horror at the argument before her for a multitude of reasons while Nero just observed it emotionlessly though she was entirely on Asta's side given Klaus's attitude. "This is only going to get worse from here on as there's no way Klaus's ego will be able to handle this."

"All right, enough of your idiocy, brat." Klaus said as he and Asta finished their shouting match and broke apart panting from all the shouting they'd done. "I'll show you the difference between the top Quirk Knight Squad in Japan, a Squad that can rival even the Endeavor Agency in terms of efficiency and popularity, and the one that doesn't even deserve to be one. Mimosa, Yuno, we're off."

With that Klaus turned his back on the Black Bulls and held out his hands as he activated his Quirk. What looked like solid steel flowed out of his palms while more flowed out of the soles of his boats through a special system built into it by one of the top third year support students at U.A. so that the solid steel could come out without damaging his shoes.

All the first years could do was blink in surprise as the steel coming from Klaus met up and he began to mold it into a shape. It only took about 10 seconds, a testament to his power levels, training, and overall skill, before the creation was complete. Before them was a three wheeled chariot made of dark steel with spikes coming from the centers of the side wheels and a horses head and mane created over the front wheel in a tri style. There were even rivets and lines on the steel as if it had been actually made along with some small detailing on the horse's head and mane for added effect though it was rather unsightly.

The one odd thing was that Klaus's hands were still on the ledge of the chariot with the steel still connected to his hands while the standing platform, the quintet could see as there was no rear panel to prevent someone from falling out the back, was still connected to his feet. Regardless, it was an impressive display of Quirk power and control and even Asta had to admit it.

Klaus Lunette, Quirk: Steel Creation. Klaus can create steel from his body and mold it into constructs that he can control so long as part of it is still in his body though once they are formed and no longer connected he can't alter them even if he touches them again. With his mind and training he can use it for offense, defense, mobility, and restraint though the connection to his body does have drawbacks as Luck as exploited in the last two Sports Festivals and Magna did in their first Sports Festival.

"Woah that's cool!" Asta said stars in his eyes. "What is it?"

"My Steel Chariot, a formation I can make with my Quirk that allows for quick travel and good protection so long as I'm still connected to it." Klaus said grinning with arrogant pride as he turned his head to look down on Asta both metaphorically and literally as he was now even taller than Asta. "Despite Luck's false claims, my Quik is powerful, I wouldn't have gotten a Golden Dawn offer without it, and with this I can move as fast and secure as a motorbike if I want and add more to it or change it's shape to add offense and defense though I seldom use it in battle. You can see the difference in our power."

"Oh I'd still destroy it with my swords no problem but still cool." Asta said. "It's useful for getting around, you'd make a good taxi service with that Sir Spectacles."

"How boorish and crude." Klaus said with a growl in his voice while a vein ticked in his temple at Asta's words. "But I saw your Quirk in the Sports Festival and it was the talk of my course so I can't deny that there is power to what you can do. It's different from Eraser Head's and could actually be an issue to me after forming my steel but that doesn't make you better than me."

"That thing is ugly." Nero said bluntly. "No style or taste at all and he calls Asta's swords boorish and crude."

"Yup I'd never ride in it." Noelle said while Klaus got angrier at the Black Bull girls' words. "Good thing I don't have to."

"Some people don't know taste I see which is a shame as I'd expect more from a Silva even if she's interning with the Black Bulls for some reason." Klaus said before looking at Mimosa and Yuno. "Come on you two, get on. We'll show those Black Bulls how a true Quirk Knight Squad completes a mission even if you've only been interns with us for a few hours."

"We're not just involved, we're committed now." Yuno muttered as he and Mimosa clambered onto the ugly creation and grabbed onto the sides for support. "This will be interesting at least and a good way to test myself against Asta."

"Do you're best, poor as it will be." Klaus said ignoring Yuno as he looked back at the other three first years. "We will see you in the records room with all the data that we've collected before you even reach it, if you can even reach it that is."

With that the steel chariot suddenly came to life and set off as Klaus used his Quirk to drive the two first years from Class 1-B down and into the base with Mimosa releasing seeds as she did so that she could start sending roots through the whole structure and map it out which would make their mission a lot easier. Asta just grinned at that, this was going to be fun and another notch in his rivalry with Yuno as he began to run after them and into the base.

"Come on let's go and find Luck and then get to this records room." Asta said as he hurried down. "We can't let them beat us."

"Hey, don't run off without us." Noelle complained as she groaned and began to jog after Asta, at least between standard training and dealing with Asta hers, and Nero's for that matter, cardio was really good so they could catch up pretty easily. "Damn why did this have to happen."

"It's Asta and Klaus was being disrespectful, it shouldn't surprise us that he rose to the situation the way he did." Nero said. "That and, well, there is some macho dick measuring going on."

"That is something I didn't need to know or picture." Noelle said as she and Nero followed Asta through the door and into the base as the path continued to slope downwards. "But you are right about Klaus. I wasn't that bad, was I?"

"No but you were close." Nero said helpfully. "But you learned and have gotten a lot better and soon he will as well. Just watch, Asta will show him that birth means nothing."

Noelle just nodded in agreement at that as the girls followed Asta hurrying to try and catch up with him as they began their first mission in earnest. They needed to find Luck and sort this out without incident to show that they could pull it off. It was a shame that said incident was already present and about to happed as 7 aspiring Quirk Knight students began their exploration of a former Diamond Company base unaware of what awaited them inside.

I think that's a good place to leave this chapter off, a nice little tease of what is about to come on the first day of the first years' internship so they're starting off with a good bit of competition just like the dungeon mission did back in Black Clover only this is naturally adapted to fit within the MHA universe and lore. I'm sure they're about to get a really good, hands on, experience but that is still to come as we see what is going on in this base and the trials and challenges that await those who have just entered. There really isn't much more to say about this straightforward chapter as it is but the start of the internships and there is plenty more to come with the Quirk Knights and Huntresses as we all build up and connect to what we know is coming. That's all I have for y'all so I will leave this chapter off here.
