It was morning-
DING!
...
It was a morning. And the world around me was so familiar yet not.
DING!
I am not sure why it came to be, or why it had to be me, but my predicament-
DING!
My predicament-
DING! DING!
Okay, maybe I should stop grinding for a moment if I want this monologue to go undisturbed.
So, I was soon stopping what I was doing and... did my daily 'mental exercise' or remembering what was going on.
Let's start with the simple steps and then let's move to the bigger ones.
My name is Bukharin, and I used to be a human.
...
Wait no, too blunt and sudden. Let's try with...
My name is Bukharin, and one day I woke up in a world that should not exist.
Yes, better. Not the best, but definitely good to start from something a bit more 'understandable' than 'I am no longer a human being'.
Still, as my existential crisis is telling you with those thoughts, I used to be a human being and now I am not. What I am may shock you and will also tell you where I am.
With a drum roll that comes from the depths of my agonious hellhole of a brain...
I am a Bokoblin.
So, for those that are not familiar with the term, I am now a monster from the series Legend of Zelda, the 'Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom' version at that. Not even the traditional red ones that are common in the area I wound up to, but a blue one with white marks.
I don't need to explain this caused me issues in trying to infiltrate one of the Bokoblins' camps.
A tragedy, but nothing of value was loss when I was forced to 'shed away' my illiterate nature for the sake of survival. After all, while I was born a monster, I had something that made the situation easy on me: I had a form of the Game activated. It wasn't the supposed 'limitless' version, but I was given something that worked around crafting.
For example, these are my Stats:
Name: Bukharin/Bukka
Race: Bokoblin
HP (Health Points): 5/5
AP (Armor Points): 84/84
POW: 62
DEF: 10
SPD: 10
INT: 189
Now, the first thing that comes to one's attention is how, despite a fair amount of days had gone by since I woke up in Hyrule, most of my stats were low. The only one that grew the most was INT and... that was because of something I found out was feasible where the rest wasn't: Crafting was endless in potential capacity.
I crafted myself a hut, I made a wall, I made some traps against intruders, and I even made a self-sufficient tree-farm to keep myself stocked on wood without outright stripping large portion of the forest. Kept myself some sheeps, and then also worked to use the resources gained from food-gathering, wood-retrieving, and stone-carving to craft myself equipment.
Two things stood out as the finest pieces of my 'Crafting-Grinding' - my loincloth, which had been reinforced with a +74 Armor boost, and my trusty Iron Hammer with a +52 POW boost.
From this, I could gather a few more things: I couldn't learn skills, I couldn't level up and all I had through this Lit-RPG system was an understanding of what to face and then 'prep time' to create a solution to the problem itself.
I had spent roughly two weeks on my own in the forest creating my own domain within it. It was small, manageable, and survivable. But as I was finishing with my highly-detailed monologue to make me feel far from alone, something happened that made me stop mid-grinding.
My ears were big, and my hearing was so strong I could sense the noise of a string snapping from a fairly distant position. That's why I had set up some 'basic' alarm lines in case someone tripped on them or... cut them.
Considering that most Bokoblins and monsters around didn't rely on bladed tools to cut random wires, I could instantly tell this intrusion was not led by a common entity of the area. But, as I was relieved to hear as more strings snapped and a loud yelp emerged as one of my traps was sprung into action, they weren't exactly the finest mind to handle cunning traps involving ropes.
I fetched mah mallet, and I went to check what was up. The first thing I caught notice of was that my 'prey' was a girl as my piggish nose picked up a rather delicate scent I had learned was customary of a woman. There were some men that had that too, but I could see through my own eyes that the struggling human-like individual was indeed a girl because... chest. I will leave it to just that.
Yet, as I got close enough, I also noticed something familiar about her and, admittedly so, I thought that I was dealing with Zelda herself. Blonde hair, the blue shirt but... the sword latched by her back. Same for the shield. And those blue eyes and short spiky blonde hair.
...
No way, that's Link. And he is actually a girl this time around!
I was so baffled by what I was looking at, barraged hundreds of questions all at once, that I hardly saw her pause as she noticed me. Eyes going wide open, fear plastered on her face as she looked like a deer that found itself before a lion.
The 'stand-off' lasted just as long for me to push most of the burdening dilemmas aside for the time being, after all I had to deal with the fact that 1) Link was now active and 2) Link was clearly at the very beginning of her journey considering her current gear.
Blinking, I feel my mind back to the present and frowning at Link as I thought on how to handle the situation about him- Her. Should I tell her to leave? Should I involve myself in her adventure? Or maybe, just maybe-
I cleared my throat, hoping that my efforts to 'speak fluently' wasn't truly wasted - I really didn't need to speak gibberish to a terrified mute.
"Greetings traveler, I am sorry for what happened to you but you trespassed my fief," I spoke up and, to my relief, I saw Link's eyes widening astronomically as she clearly understood my lingo. "Now, I don't wish to harm you since you are not a mindless beast so... how about we have a diplomatic chat over breakfast?"
Link's shock lasted a few more minutes, and I have to admit that I freaked out myself since this could have ended really badly if I was dealing with a Fem Murderhobo rather than the stereotypical hero(ine) of Hyrule. Still, to my immense relief, the Hylian offered a nod.
"So, no killing and no breaking private propery. Sound fair?"
She nodded again and I retrieved a tiny knife. The blonde tensed up as I walked up to her but she was glad that I didn't cut her while freeing. Link still fell head-first onto the ground, the truest damage being her face getting dirtied up with some mud and me giving her a handkerchief to clean up.
I could tell that she was still failing to grasp how all of this was happening, but I then heard her belly gurgling for food so...
I was soon having breakfast with the Hero of our Time and-
DING!
I got... my FIRST QUEST FROM THIS!?
AN
Oh lord, this is either ending very well or very poorly. At least Link will get her much needed overpowered gear speedrun session this time around. But still, yeah, Breath of the Wild and Bokoblin!SI - the crafting will get ridiculously funny to the point of competing with the Tear of the Kingdom's insane constructions. Tanks? Gundams? Can we get a way to drill into the heavens?
More coming soon in the next episode of Craftin' Savage!
