A/N: Trig is in Italics
As the day went on Raven continued to isolate on her bed. Echo tried to bring her things throught the day but she refused them. It wasn't until she heard Shaw in pain that quickly sat up and looked over to see some of the prisoners messing with him, causing his shock collar to go off. She then stood up ready to go over there and give them a peace of her mind.
Echo was quick behind and reached her hand out to stop her. "Raven no, this isn't your fight."
"it's our fault he's here." Raven said in return, still angry but not as much as before. Deep down she knew that it was one of the few ways for them to get the eye hacked for Monty and the others. She was more so mad at herself for allowing herself to get so easily attached to a guy she barely knew.
"I know you angry." Echo told her, "But you said yourself they can't kill him. He's the only person who-" She stopped herself as realization flashed across her mind.
"We have to kill him."
Raven shook her head, "No way."
"Raven that ship is their biggest advantage. Without a pilot to fly it"
"I said no" Raven interrupted her, her voice firm and final. Ending the conversation she walked over to the other side of the room toward Shaw who sat on one of the beds, the bruises on his face slowly healing.
Echo watched her go and went back to her own bed, sitting beside Griffin who was nibbling at a piece of bread. She watched as Raven talked to Shaw, no doubt warning him of her intent. If there wasn't a possible war at stake, she would feel more bad about taking another life. But in the moment her Azgeda ways told her that taking him out was necessary in order to foil Diyoza's plans of using those missiles against her family.
Not long after another prisoner entered, a shock collar of his own around his neck, and asked where Raven Reyes was. Echo watched as after a hesitant moment Raven spoke with him and shortly after left with him. Knowing she couldn't follow she tried to push any concerning thoughts out of her head and tried to focus on other things.
Deciding to give some of their free time more value, and distract herself from worrying about Raven, she started teaching Griffin again, giving a few Earth lessons along the way. He seemed to be a quick learner, eager to listen to what she and Harper would teach him on the ring. She decided to go with the history of the commander. And Bekka Pramheda, their first commander. She told it more as a story, explaining how she came down to Earth like they did to save the people left behind. And with her knowledge was able to teach them how to live on the surface again.
"That's just like us! We came down to save Aunt Octava. Does that make us commanders too?" He asked with bright eyes which made Echo smile down at him. She did her best to explain to him that those born with special blood were chosen to be the next.
It made her think back to shortly after Griffin was born. Although she knew that there would be no more commanders, she needed to know for herself. To be sure that someday when they found their way down, he wouldn't be a potential candidate and have his life dictated just by the color of his blood and put in danger. Relief flooded her when the tiny pinprick revealed the tiniest drop of bright red.
Griffin looked down in childish disappointment. But it was short-lived when Echo told him, "But that doesn't mean you aren't special my love." He smiled back at her and continued listening to the rest of the story.
By the time night had fallen, Griffin was sound asleep. Echo lightly running her hands through is curly hair. One of the defectors had offered an extra blanket for the boy which she accepted with thanks. As she tucked him in she turned to see Raven finally make her way back in.
It was easy to see that the girl was in pain. As she went straight for her bed and lied down, Echo leaned over and placed a comforting hand on her arm. Her motherly instincts wanting to try and help her, take care of her. Knowing that Raven might still be upset at her she was ready to pull away, but stopped when she felt Raven's hand reach up and hold hers in return.
"You'll be happy to know I didn't kill your pilot." Echo told her softly, a hint of a smirk on her lips.
Raven rolled over and sat up on her elbow, looking into Echo's eyes with teary ones of her own. Echo's smirk fading as she watched her friend with seriousness.
"We can't let Diyoza win."
"What are you saying?" Echo asked needing confirmation of what she thought she was hearing.
"Promise me he won't suffer." She said in response.
Echo silently nodded, promising to make it as painless as possible. She was going to verbally say it but was interrupted when Shaw came over, an intense look on his face that could be deciphered as worry. "Hey, did he hurt you?" Referring to the prisoner who came in earlier for her.
Echo chose it was best to let them talk privately, so she gave one last look to Raven before glancing to a still sleeping Griffin and walking off to get herself something to drink. Although she was giving them privacy, her eyes were still on them making sure that she was ok as they talked. Seeing Raven start to cry hurt her, wanting to walk back over and just wrap her arms around her. But seeing Shaw comfort her kept her in her spot.
As all began to settle for the rest of the night, the quiet was interrupted with chattering outside, the sound of some even cheering. Echo moved to the windows to try and get as best a look as she could at what was happening.
All she could hear and make out was "McCreary". One of theirs. From what little she could see with how dark it was and the crowded people, she was barely able to see the two figures alongside them. As they moved she could see they were bound. More prisoners. Murphy?
Surely it wouldn't have been Bellamy or Clarke. Clarke would never leave Madi behind and she knew Bellamy had to stay for his sister. Raven soon joined her, curious herself and it wasn't until they started shoving them toward the church they could see clearly. It was Murphy and Emori. They shared a look between each other and moved away from the window as the doors opened and the couple were shoved in. Collars around their necks just like everyone else.
There were many questions needing to be answered, but for now they knew that they all needed to get some rest so they could have clear heads when discussing what's been going on and how to proceed with stopping the impending war.
