Summary: The discovery of a strange and ancient insect statue causes the local bug population to act oddly. Are they...organizing?!
Dr. Collins sat staring at their discovery. She had never seen its like.
The statue was carved from some unknown stone. It was of crude construction but done with superb technique. The creature it depicted resembled no mythological creature she was familiar with. It was a humanoid arthropod of some kind, best described as an insect, standing on two of its legs while the other four were used like arms, each holding a severed human head in its hand. It was green and red in color, said colors oddly unfaded.
I can't believe we found something like this in the hills outside Sunnydale, and on a student dig no less! Collins thought.
"Dr. Collins!" her young assistant Maria shouted. She was clearly panicked. The doctor jumped to her feet in surprise.
"Maria! What is it?!" Collins asked.
"I don't know where to begi-" Maria began, when she was cut off by terrified screaming from outside. Both women exited the tent quickly, but what they saw caused them to backpedal in shocked horror!
Only to be dragged back outside by something! Their agonized cries swiftly joined those of the other expedition members!
The horrible sculpture's head turned toward the entrance of the tent briefly, before resuming it's original position.
And then there was silence…
