Lost Years, Found Future

Chapter 1

It's a rainy night and Randy, Sharon, and Stan Marsh are leaving a party. Randy and Sharon had a bit too much to drink. That didn't stop Randy from driving home. He's trying 90 miles an hour and constantly swerving, nearly hitting cars on the other side of the road multiple times.

"Pull over right now Randy!" Sharon screeches at her husband.

"You're overreacting Sharon!" Randy replies slurring his words.

"No I'm not! You're being stupid!"

Stan, who's been on his phone the whole time, looks up. "Dad, mom's right! You're driving crazy!"

"Stay out of this Stan! This is between Mommy and Daddy!"

Stan texts Kyle and Wendy to tell them about his dad's driving.

I love you babe, and don't take this the wrong way, but your dad is an alcoholic moron! He reads a texts from Wendy. If anyone else had said that, he would've been offended. But since it's Wendy, he lets it go. Instead, he texts her back saying he loves her too, always and forever with a heart emoji.

My parents are fighting. Stan texts Kyle.

What did your dad do this time?

He's driving drunk and crazy.

OMG! Doesn't he realize how dangerous that is?

I know! I won't lie, I'm kind of scared. He's never driven like this before.

Please let me know when you're home. I want to know you made it safely.

Will do dude.

"Randy, slow down now! I mean it!" Sharon yells.

Randy looks over at Sharon. "Relax Sharon! I got this!"

"Stan, please listen to mom!"

"I told you to stay out of this Stan! Daddy has everything under control!"

"If you had it under control, you would pull over!" Sharon tells him.

Randy and Sharon continue arguing. Stan looks forward and notices Randy is heading on the wrong side of the road again and tries to warn him. "Dad! Look out you're going to hit-" Before Randy could hit the breaks, he ends up crashing…

Stan's POV

I wake up and realize I'm not in my room. I look around and everything is…white. I try to sit up, but I'm unable to. I try to move my arm and I look and see there's a wire coming from my arm. I even hear a machine beeping. I think I'm in a hospital, but why? I need to get out of here! I hate hospitals! I try to pull the wire out of my arm and then I hear the machine start beeping even louder. The next thing I know, some blonde woman comes in the room. I think she's a doctor or a nurse.

"You opened your eyes!" She smiles at me as she stops the machine. She sticks a needle in my arm and I try to cry out, but there's no sound. The needle is attached to the wire that was in my arm and she connects it to the machine and turns it back on. "There you go! Now you make sure to leave this in so you can get your fluids.

I move my lips, but again, I don't hear a sound.

"I'll go get the doctor." She tells me before leaving. Within a few minutes, a doctor comes in the room.

"Mr. Marsh! It's nice to see you awake. It had been touch and go there for you, but you're clearly a fighter." She smiles at me. "You being awake is nothing short of a miracle!"

"W…w…w…" I can't seem to get any words out.

"You may have trouble speaking. We're going to have you continue to work with your Occupational Therapist for that."

I don't understand why I can't speak. I try moving my lips again, but all I hear is just this weird gurgling sound. I can feel my eyes began to water.

"It's okay. I know this is very frustrating for you. I promise once you're able to speak, we can answer any and all questions you have." She examines me and then leaves. Once again, I'm all alone and still unable to speak.

I might as well go back to sleep…

"Mr. Marsh? Mr. Marsh…?" I open my eyes and see the nurse at my bedside. "You have a visitor!"

I try to sit up, but I'm unable to. "M…m…my m-mom?" I struggle to get out.

She smiles. "You'll see." She helps me sit up. I see her wave for someone to come in. Just then, a red haired man in a nurse uniform comes in the room. He smiles at me.

"Stan! I'm so happy you're finally awake!" He rushes over to me to try to hug me, but I lean away from him. "Sorry, I'm just so happy to see you awake again!"

"T…thank…" I'm still struggling to get the words out. I don't even know who this guy is or why he's happy to see me.

The man turns to the nurse. "Can you give me a few minutes alone with him?"

She smiles and nods. "Sure thing. I'll be back to examine him in about 20 minutes."

"Perfect." The nurse leaves and the man moves closer to me. "I never thought I would see those baby blues ever again." He tries to touch my cheek, but I push his hand away. I don't know who this guy is, but he's freaking me out.

"W-who…?"

The man frowns. "You don't know who I am?" I shake my head. "It's me dude! It's Kyle!"

"K-Kyle…?" There's no way! "K…Kyle? N…no!" I continue shaking my head. I try to yell, but the man covers my mouth.

"Shh! Shh! Calm down! I need to explain things to you. I'll move my hand, but first you have to promise me you won't yell. Do you promise?" I slowly nod my head. "Good boy…" He moves his hand.

"D…don't h…hurt…"

"I'm not going to hurt you. Look, I can show you proof." He reaches in his pocket and pulls out a driver's license. "Here's my ID." I look at it and it has Kyle's name and his birthdate. But it doesn't make sense.

"H…how?"

"Do you realize what happened to you?"

I shake my head. "S…sleep. S…sleeping..."

"You were in a car accident. You've been in a coma for 25 years!" My eyes widen.
