Amity awoke as the sun pierced the hotel room. As she awoke she saw Luz 's head resting on her chest. Not wanting to jar her wife awake, she just laid there stroking her hair until she woke up."Good morning sleepyhead." Amity said as Luz began to climb out of bed."Good morning my cotton candied haired goddess." Luz said as she began to stretch."So Luz what's on today's agenda?" Amity asked as she climbed out of bed."Well I was thinking of a drive through the countryside taking in the view of the mountains. Maybe see a waterfall before stopping to relax at the coamo hot springs." Luz said as she began picking out her clothes for the day."Oh that sounds wonderful." Amity said as she began combing her hair.It will be so let's get ready. Today we're gonna hit the omelet bar." Luz said as she went to take a shower to start what was to be another lovely day on la isla del encanto….
A few hours later…
Luz and Amity were driving through Puerto Ricos countryside. They were awed by the mountains of Puerto Rico's interior. They had stopped on the side of the roads at several spots to snap some good photos. As they were driving though they saw a few political signs that had been trashed. Making them out, they could read.Stronger in the union. Vote no to Sovereignty." Amity was astounded."It seems staying ain't that popular." she said."Well I guess not." Luz said, focusing on the road. Driving on the highway was one thing but now they were on local roads. These roads were narrow as hell. What made it more terrifying is that they were meant for 2 cars, one lane in each direction. Already on several occasions they had had to pull over to let a car pass."So Luz where are we going?" Amity asked. "We're going to Charco Prieto Waterfall in Bayamón. That is if this GPS app can find it." Luz said. She had been warned by her mother the GPS would have issues when you went inland but she had no idea how bad it was. Thankfully they had managed to reach their destination. After parking and a 30 minute walk the couple arrived at the falls. Amity was amazed as the water ran down the rocky side of the mountain."Luz this is truly a sight to behold."Amity said."I know this was worth the excruciating hike." Luz said as she took pictures."So now what?" Amity asked. "Well let's enjoy the view, take some pictures and then head back to the car. We have hot springs to visit." Luz said as the couple enjoyed the view…
2 Hours later….
Luz and Amity were lost. The GPS which had already been struggling to get them around had them driving in circles."Luz we are lost." Amity said."I can see that." Luz said. As the two drive around They pull over and see a man on his porch smoking a cigar."Excuse me sir can you show us how to get to the coamo hot springs." Amity said. The man got up from his porch and walked over towards the car." Good day ladies. The coamo hot springs I know how to get there first you're gonna drive down this road you're gonna hit 3 potholes Bam! Bam! Bam! After that you take a left at the first crossroads and you'll see a stand selling fruit. That's my cousin. If you are gonna buy any fruit I recommend mangoes. They are always fresh. Next you're gonna pass a mural of Jose De Diego. You can't miss it, guy has an amazing mustache. Then you pass 3 houses. The 3rd house has a broken down 1967 camaro in front. After the 3rd house you turn and you'll be at the springs." The man said as Luz and Amity were visibly confused."Ok thank you sir." Luz said. " Oh no problem. Btw could you spare a dollar for a can of medalla?" The man asked as Amity handed the dollar over. "Thank you ladies, enjoy your time at the springs." The man said as he walked back towards his house. "Well that was a weird way to give directions." Amity said as the two drove off."Well that's the way they do things over here." Luz said as she did her best to follow the man's instructions…
Later…..
Luz and Amity pulled up to the hot spring. They had managed to figure out the old man's directions. Hopping out of their car they grabbed their tote bag and walked towards the springs. "The old man was right. These mangoes are fresh." Luz said having stopped at the fruit stand and bought a mango to split between the two of them."Yes Luz it was so juicy." Amity said as they walked up to the springs. They could see renovations being done on an old hotel nearby the springs. As they walked up they saw 2 pools and a gift shop. Inside they saw a woman behind the register."Hello, welcome to the coamo hot springs. How can I help you?" The woman said. "We would like to use the hot springs." Luz said."Of course that will be $3.50 each and if you want we also offer massages. $20 for 20 minutes." The woman said. Luz and Amity perked up at the thought."Ok we will each have a 40 minute massage." Luz said as she paid the woman.Ok we will get you when it's your turn. In the meantime use the pools. Please use the shower before you enter and there are changing stalls in the bathrooms." The woman said as Luz and Amity went to change. As they walked out to the springs after changing into their swimsuits they noticed how calm it was. The place had soothing music playing on loudspeakers. There were signs asking patrons to avoid talking about religion or politics. Luz and Amity put down their towels and tote bag at a table near the larger pool."Ok Amity let's start with the cooler pool before moving to the hotter one." Luz said as she went under the shower to rinse herself off. Amity followed suit and then the 2 lovebirds walked into the pool."Oh that feels nice" Amity said."yes it's warm and relaxing." Luz said as they went to sit down on a bench in the pool. Around were locals chatting about their day to day lives."Wow it feels like all my stress is melting away." Amity said."You know they say this is the fabled fountain of youth." A local man said."Really?" Luz asked."Yes the natives spoke of a spring with healing properties but ponce de leon thought they meant Florida so he went there." The man said chuckling."You couldn't get me in Florida even if you paid me." Luz responded to which the man laughed."How long do you stay in the springs?" Amity asked." This one I can be in here all day. The hotter one, probably 20-30 minutes." The man said as he climbed out and made his way to the smaller pool. Luz and Amity followed suit. As they stepped in they noticed a slight sulfur odor. Ignoring it they walked in and the water was even better. "This is wonderful." Luz said,"How have I never experienced this in my life?" Amity said."This pool is pure hot mix in cold water in the other pool to regulate the temperature." A local woman said. As Luz and Amity relaxed two employees walked up"Luz and Amity its time for your massages" one said. Luz and amity climed out of the pool and walked towards the building. They went their seperate ways as each was brought into a room on a table."Please lay down on the table mam." The man asked."Luz obliged and he went straight to work giving Luz and excellent massage."My god your back is full of knots how old are you?" The man asked."I'm 24." Luz replied."What stress could you have at such a young age to give you that many knots." He thought about all she had been through in the demon realm that brought about so much stress. "Oh wedding planning. Got married not too long ago. Had to deal with in laws." Luz said trying to make up a convincing lie."I see." The man said as he continued to work on Luz's back. The massage was worth every penny. Luz could feel all the stress and tension melting away. She thought how was Amity's massage going…
Meanwhile…
Amity was in bliss as the woman worked on her back. "Oh titan I needed this." She said."What did you say?" The woman quickly responded." Spanish isn't my 1st language. I meant to say god." As she tried to cover up her mistake. Thankfully the woman bought it. As calming music played Amity began to drift away. After 40 minutes the two were done. They were told it was best to follow up a massage with a soak for 20 minutes. Luz and Amity soaked up for another 20 minutes before heading back to San juan…
Several Hours Later…
Luz and Amity walked into their hotel room. Amity collapsed on the bed."What a day." Amity said as she laid down on the clean sheets of their bed."Well it's not over Amity." Luz said as she went to pull a dressy outfit out of her bag."What do you mean?" Amity said quite intrigued by what her wife had in mind." Well it's not a proper honeymoon unless I wine and dine you at one of San Juan's fanciest restaurants." Luz said. "Oh that sounds like a great idea." Amity said as she went through the clothes she had for her dressiest outfit. "So Luz what is this place called?" Amity asked." It's called Marmalade in Old San Juan. You'll love it." Luz said as the two lovebirds got ready for a wonderful night on the town….
Later…
Luz and Amity were sitting down in Marmalade enjoying a 5 course meal. "I see why it's a 5 course meal. Each course is a small portion." Amity said." Well duh Amity. You really think you could eat 5 regular sized portions." Luz said, taking a sip of her wine. They had just finished the salad and were waiting for the meal. They had both gotten the beef tenderloin. As they looked around they saw friends ,family and lovers chatting. On a nearby table they overheard two gentlemen talking."So the day is nearly upon us." One man said."It is. So how are you gonna vote?" The other asked." I'm gonna vote yes." The man said.
" What happened? Did you become a commie?" The other man said, confused by his friend's response." No but I can't argue with how things have been since the pip/mvc alliance took wages are up, the healthcare system has improved,Education has improved, the infrastructure has improved, They got rid of the crypto boys and heck he got the island of vieques a hospital after maria." The man said." I don't trust them. We voted pnp all our lives and you're gonna switch now." The other man said." Yes and what did that get us? Nothing. All they did was tax breaks for outsiders and misappropriate federal funds. Dalmau has done more in 4 years than the ppd and pnp have done in the last 20." The man said. As Luz got carried away in overhearing the conversation she hadn't noticed the main course had arrived."Luz the food is here." Amity said as she looked at the beef tenderloin before her. "Wow this looks good." Luz said as the two lovebirds began to eat their dinner…
Later…
Luz and Amity returned to their hotel room visibly drunk. They were lucky to remember which floor and room they were in. Walking into their room Luz collapsed on the bed.Titan I am beat." She said exhausted."I hope you still have some energy in the tank my love bec I am in the mood for some late night fun." Amity said as she went to the bathroom to undress." Ok I think I can find some." Luz said as the two got ready for some late night fun
