Last time, Musuko and Benson were pulled into the Digital World once again. Joining them this time was Benson's cousin: Natalie Ishida. Natalie's partner, Yokomon, ended up digivolving to Biyomon. Then, after being attacked by Airdramon and Seadramon, Biyomon digivolved again into Birdramon. After defeating them, the kids made their way to the mountain they were suppose to go on. That was when they sound another surprise waiting for them there.

Mason's Story

When they arrived at the mountain that was their destination, Natalie and the boys were surprised to see their friend and classmate, Mason Tachikawa, there. Not only that, but the digimon partner that was once Tanemon was now Palmon.

"Mason? What are you doing out here?" Natalie questioned.

"I really have no idea." Mason said. "I was just at home when all of a sudden, Tanemon and I were surrounded by this bright light and we found ourselves here. Also, I found this weird thing in my pocket." Mason showed that he too got a D-3, but it was a lime-green color. They were all surprised to see that Mason had one just like they do.

"Mason has a D-3, too?" Benson questioned.

"How?" Patamon questioned.

"Are you okay, Mason?" Natalie asked. "You must have been pretty freaked that you were transported here."

"It was rather scary at first, but we were okay because we had these guys as company." Palmon said as she showed they had a bunch of young digimon with them and were keeping them company. "These little digimon are all called Budmon. They've been really nice and helping us out."

"What about you? Are you really Tanemon?" Veemon asked.

"Yep. I'm the same Tanemon you guys know, but now I'm Palmon. Don't I look just as pretty as the one with Mason's mom?" Palmon questioned. "The Budmon were so nice to us and helped us out. They seem to really like Mason. After they were treating us so nicely, I soon digivolved into Palmon. Isn't that great?" Great, yes. However, this just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Each of these kids are only seven. What could they even be doing here?

...

The Real World

"Are they doing okay?" Takenouchi asked as he was concerned for his granddaughter and her friends. Ever since Izzy and the others found out that the children are on their own in the Digital World, they had to get to work on getting them back.

"So far, and I can't believe Mason is there, too." Izzy said. "Anyway, we need to work on stabilizing a Digital Gate so we can get them out of there before anything happens to them. I don't know what's causing the gates to act unstable, but we need to get them back." All three of the scientists got to work in hopes they can get to the kids.

...

Digital World

All of the Budmon acted really nice and they seem to love having Mason around. As Mason was playing around with the Budmon, Musuko and the others were trying to make sense of their current situation.

"Did we come all the way here for Mason?" Musuko said.

"That can't be just why. Mason could have come to us, couldn't he?" Natalie questioned.

"We're missing something. What could be going on?" Benson questioned. This wasn't making much sense to all of them. As for Mason and Palmon, they were just having a lot of fun with the Budmon and weren't too worried.

"Mason, could you tell us more about the human world?" One asked.

"Well, I don't know if there is much Mason can tell you. Just like all of you, he's still rather young and still has a lot to learn." Palmon said.

"Hey. I know stuff, too. I might not be as smart as Cassie, but I know things." Mason said. "After all, Dad's a pilot that sees the world and Mom makes great food, so I know a lot about food. Plus, I got my big brother: Malcolm."

"Could you tell us more about what a human family is like? We weren't lucky enough to find our human partners yet." Budmon asked.

"Well, my family isn't really like every other family back on Earth." Mason said as he had a seat and thought about how his family is. Unlike the others, Mimi didn't exactly have it easy with a family. "You see, Mom married a friend of hers from a place called America. My father's name is Michael, and he's a pilot. He flies these giant machines call planes and goes all around the world. However, my parents are divorced. Since Dad always flying his plane, he isn't home a lot. As much as they do love each other, they just couldn't stay together. I don't really understand it myself, but my Dad still cares and I do get to see him every once in a while. They try to get along for my sake. Although, it hasn't been easy at home lately. My older brother, Malcolm, is pretty upset with Mom."

"I'll say. When we learned the truth, it wasn't easy." Palmon said.

"The truth about what?" Budmon asked.

"The truth is...Malcolm is only my half-brother." Mason admitted. A family secret that has been kept for a long time is coming out.

"What's a half-brother?" Budmon asked.

"We have the same mom, but we have different dads." Mason said. "I didn't quite understand it myself at first, and I'm not sure I still do. All I know is that we have different dads, and we believed we had the same one for a long time. Not that long ago, Mom told us the truth, and Malcolm was really upset. He still is, and hardly talks to her anymore. That might be another reason why my parents got divorced. I'm not sure how long my dad knew the truth."

"So who is your brother's real father?" Budmon asked. That was a tough questioned to answer. Not because Mason didn't know the truth, but because it actually involves one of his friends as he looked back at them.

"You see my friend, Musuko, there? My brother's father is actually his uncle. His name is Tai Kamiya." Mason answered.

"But that doesn't mean those two are together." Palmon said.

"Yeah. They say it's some grown-up thing and that I'm too young to understand." Mason said. "Musuko, is it okay if I tell them about your Uncle Tai?"

"Huh? Uh... Sure..." Musuko said as he didn't understand why Mason would ask. Probably just out of respect.

"You see, Tai has his own son. Even he believed Malcolm was my dad's kid for a while." Mason said. "Besides, Tai has his own son to take care of: Tyson. He's been taking care of his son alone because he lost his wife in a car accident. Of course, since he knows that Malcolm is his son, he wants to help. Malcolm, on the other hand, doesn't really feel like speaking to both of them because he feels like his life is a lie."

"That's so sad."

"What about you, Mason?"

"Aren't you sad?" That was a good question. Mason doesn't understand how his older brother is only his half-brother. He's still rather young to understand how that whole thing works. Despite that, he thought back to some great times he had with his mother and his brother. One thing Mason never doubted was that Mimi loved him like any mother, and what he felt for his older brother was real.

"Not really. It all seemed upsetting, but Mom loved us and took care of us. I was upset about the news of their divorce at first, but when it came to my brother, it didn't really feel like anything was different." Mason said. "Maybe I still don't understand; but Mom is still Mom, Dad is still Dad, and Malcolm is still my brother."

"Oh, Mason..." Palmon said as she was glad to hear Mason wasn't upset or anything. Not many kids would be like that in his position.

"That's Mason for you." Natalie said. "He seems to have the most complicated family out of all of us, but he acts like it doesn't bother him."

"Mason may act silly sometimes, but he's really honest." Benson said. "If he says it's not bothering him, it really isn't."

"Yeah. That's one of the reasons he's so fun to hang around." Musuko said as they all felt glad to have him as a friend. It seemed like everything was going just fine this time. However, it wasn't going to stay like that. Up in the sky was a female-looking digimon with shining blue butterfly wings. She just floated around in the sky above them and was just watching them. No one noticed her until Patamon spotted a strange shadow on the ground. He then looked up and spotted her.

"Hey! Who is that up there?!" Patamon said and alerted the others. They all looked up and spotted the same digimon.

"Who's that digimon?" Musuko questioned.

"I don't know. I've never seen her before." Veemon said.

"She sure looks pretty." Biyomon said.

"But pretty doesn't mean it's something good." Natalie said as she was getting a bad feeling about this. Then, the mysterious digimon snapped her fingers. When she did that, something burst right out of the ground and another digimon made of stone emerged out.

"That's Golemon! What's he doing here?!" Palmon questioned. Golemon just kept roaring like an ape and even beat his own chest. This wasn't looking good at all. It got even worse when he smashed his arms against the ground and was causing some damage. All of the Budmon got scared and were running away.

"What's going on? Why is he acting like that?!" Mason said.

"I guess we found another digimon that wants trouble." Musuko said as he and the others got ready for a fight. "Veemon, get that big rock!"

"You got it! Let's go!" Veemon said as he, Biyomon, and Patamon charged at Golemon to fight. However, Golemon attacked before they even had the chance to digivolve.

"Sulfur Plume!" Golemon unleashed volcanic gas from him and sprayed it against all three of them. It greatly affected them as it blinded and weakened them. With their guard down, Golemon gave all three of them a powerful punch and it felt like getting hit by a boulder. All three of them were taken out after one hit from that. As Musuko and the others rushed to their digimon, Golemon just kept thrashing everything.

"Hey! Stop it!" Palmon called as she tried to do something herself.

"Palmon!" Mason called. Palmon tried to stop Golemon as she stretched out their vines and got them around his arm, but Golemon pulled her in only to smash his arm against her and knocked her down. "Palmon, are you okay?!" Mason asked as he hurried to her.

"I think so." Palmon said.

"Guys, what's going on?! Why is that Golemon attacking?!" Mason questioned.

"We don't know! He's acting weird just like the other digimon!" Natalie said.

"Mason, you've got to do something! You're the only one that can!" Benson called.

"Me? What can I do?!" Mason said.

"I don't know, but we have to do something." Palmon said as she was getting back up. "It will be okay because I'm right here for you, Mason." She assured. That's what made Mason think of something.

"I guess that's why I never felt sad or anything even though my family might be...a little messed up." Mason said. "It's because I had you. I still have others that care so much. Maybe I don't, or will ever, really understand what went on with my family. Maybe...it doesn't matter as long as I know I have you and others." That's what Mason thinks now, and it helped awakened a power as his D-3 began to shine with Palmon growing stronger.

"Palmon digivolve to..." Palmon digivolved just like the others as she became a new form. "Togemon!"

Togemon stood towering over the others with all of them amazed that Palmon digivolved just like the others.

"What just happened? Did some growth ray hit you?" Mason questioned.

"Something like that." Togemon said. "Hey, big guy!" She called to Golemon and got his attention. "Let's dance!" She charged right at Golemon and smashed her boxing glove right into Golemon's head. Togemon kept the attacks going and kept smashing her fists right against Golemon.

"Needle Spray!" Togemon unleashed a series of needles, but they just bounced off his stone body. Since that wasn't going to work, she stuck to boxing. The two of them kept on pounding against each other, but Togemon wasn't going to lose to this rock head.

"Lightspeed Jabbing!" Togemon unleashed a series of lightspeed punches, pounding away on Golemon light her arms were hammers. Togemon kept pushing back until Golemon was near the edge of a cliff. With one more powerful uppercut, Golemon ended up tumbling down the mountain and was stopped.

"And it's a K.O.!" Musuko cheered like a ringannouncer for they all enjoyed seeing that. The digimon were able to see it too and they loved it.

"Wait. What about her?" Natalie questioned. They all looked up to the mysterious digimon, but she just flew off. "Where's she going?"

"Who even was that?" Benson questioned. Things just keep getting weirder and weirder, but at the same time they just get better and better. As Togemon changed back to Palmon, Mason hurried over and hugged her.

"That was awesome! You rule!" Mason cheered.

"Thanks, Mason!" Palmon said as she was glad to hear that. It looked like everything was going good, but then a shining light appeared on the mountain with all of them wondering what it could be. Just then, two people and two digimon emerged out of it.

"There they are!"

"Natalie! Benson!" One of them called as he hurried over.

"Dad/Uncle Matt?!" Natalie and Benson claimed.

"And he's with Uncle Tai!" Musuko said.

"Natalie!" Matt called as he ran to his daughter and hugged her tight. "Thank goodness you're okay!"

"I'm fine, Dad." Natalie said.

"Benson, I'm glad to see you're safe as well." Matt claimed.

"We were all worried about you." Gabumon said.

"Musuko!" Tai called as he hurried over to his nephew.

"Hey, Uncle Tai. What are you doing here?" Musuko asked.

"Izzy was able to track you kids and was able to open up a gateway for us to come here and get you." Tai said. "You have no idea how worried all your parents are."

"We're just glad to see you're all okay." Agumon said. That was when Tai noticed Mason was there as well. Despite how things are with Mason's family and Tai, it doesn't change the fact that Mason is a kid that admires Tai and is still like family to him; or that Tai cares for Mason like any of the kids.

"Mason, it's good to see you're safe as well." Tai said. "We better get you home. Mimi must be really worried about you."

"Yeah. It's time to head home, kids." Matt said. They came here to get the kids, but this journey doesn't feel finished just yet. The kids can just tell that this is far from over.

...

After returning home, the kids share what they have experienced. However, their parents forbid them from going any further. Does the journey end here or is the call from the Digital World too strong to ignore?
