Wanting to go back home for their safety and to recuperate, Musuko and the kids were contacted by Izzy and were able to open a way back. On their way, they were attacked by Vilemon and for old foes of their parents that Daemon has brought back to life. The children were easily overpowered by the four evil and powerful ultimate-level digimon. With help from Oikawa, they were able to escape. What will be their next move?

Struggle Between Worlds

All of the kids waited anxiously for their kids to come back. The wait was over and they were finally relieved. When Izzy's computer began to shine, all of them came flying out of the computer and were back in Izzy's lab.

"Kids!" Kari called as all of their parents were glad to see they were back and unharmed. Once they saw that, each of their parents took their respective kid into their arms and held them real close. "Thank goodness. We were all so worried about you."

"We thought something terrible happened to each one of you, but you're all safe now." Matt said.

"On that note, you all are in so much trouble for sneaking away. Do any of you understand how dangerous that was?" Mina said.

"Not now, Mom." Benson said as the kids were rather worried themselves. All of them noticed their digimon were in rather bad shape. The last battle they were in really did a number on each one of them.

"Oh my!" Mimi said as all of the parents were worried for the digimon now. "You poor things. What happened to each of them?"

"We were attacked when we got to the gate." Musuko said. "It's thanks to Oikawa that we were able to escape. Oikawa..." Musuko was scared that Oikawa might have suffered the same fate as Hudiemon seeing as how he put himself at risk to make sure the kids would escape.

"I wouldn't worry about Oikawa. Oikawa is nothing more than a spirit at this point that watches over the Digital World." Izzy said. "I have my doubts he can be destroyed." That was good for the kids to know. At least they didn't lose another like that. "Now, I need you kids to start from the beginning. What happened when we lost contact?"

"Where do we begin?" Musuko said as this was going to be a long story.

...

The Dark World

"You had them and you let them escape because of mere butterflies?!" Daemon questioned as the four evil digimon on their actions. "Need I remind you that I brought all of you back. I thought you four were tough and could handle undeveloped children."

"Yeah! You four should be ashamed for humiliating Lord Daemon!" Vilemon said.

"Shut up! You don't do much better!" Daemon said with Vilemon fearing him. "Find a way to defeat those children. Those four might be young and small, but each one of them holds great power that could ruin all of my plans. Do not fail me." He told them before he left them to handle his own matters with Vilemon following him.

"Curses!" Myotismon shouted as he smashed his fist into the sand. "I can't believe this is happening to me. I can't believe I've been reduced to being someone's gopher."

"Well, if you are so powerful and mighty, why don't you become MaloMyotismon and take your place on the thrown." Arukenimon mocked.

"Arukenimon, don't you remember what he did to us?!" Mummymon said out of fear thinking she was serious.

"If you don't shut up, I'll do it again!" Myotismon shouted as he brought down the same sort of fear on them. 'I wish I could, but Daemon was smart and didn't fully trust me.' He thought as he looked down at his hands and felt so weak and desires power once again. 'He didn't restore ALL my power when he revived me. I can't become VenoMyotismon or MaloMyotismon even if I wanted to. When I do figure out how to restore all my power, I will make Daemon suffer for thinking he's superior to me.'

"So, what's the plan now?" Etemon questioned. "Are we really going to hunt for just little kids? I got a revival concert to uphold."

"Be quiet. Your voice is irritating." Myotismon said as he was getting frustrated. "Those aren't just any children. It appears that they are the children of the same digidestined that defeated each one of us. It is a chance for us to have vengeance. We'll have to go along with Daemon's way...for now at least." Myotismon hates that he has to follow the will of someone else, but his hatred for the digidestined keeps him going. Until he gets his own way, he'll just have to swallow his pride for now.

...

The Real World

Musuko and the kids told their parents all about what happened with Daemon, and how he managed to revive four enemies they've defeated before. One could imagine how shocked they were to hear that old enemies came back. The kids were lucky they were able to get out of there. Once again, they told the kids to stay out of this and let them handle it, but those words aren't exactly sticking with the kids.

'Oh man. We hardly got any sleep last night. Class is usually boring, but this is making me even more sleepy.' Musuko thought. The kids still had their normal lives to get through, and Musuko right now is trying to fight the urge to fall asleep during class. The parents say that it's punishment for their children sneaking away in the middle of the night. 'Why can't our parents see that it's now our turn to save the world? We might be young, but that doesn't mean we can't do something. Haven't we proven that we have what it takes?'

"And when we add these together, what do we get?" Mr. Yakedo as he continued with his class. He looked around to see who would answer until he spotted Musuko. "Musuko?" He said, but Musuko wasn't really listening. "Musuko!" He called and got his attention. "Were you even paying attention?"

"Well... I..." Musuko tried to think of an excuse, but nothing was coming to him.

"Keep this up, Musuko, and you'll be hear even during break. Now pay attention" Mr. Yakedo lectured and went back to the lesson. Musuko might not be the most motivated student, but at least he has a good reason this time.

...

Later

"Let me guess... You couldn't pay attention because of all that happened to us." Natalie said as Musuko met up with the team. "I couldn't really either. Those four digimon that attacked us will be back. We sure got our butts kicked, and it makes me mad just like when we lose a soccer game."

"I'm sorry, Natalie. We tried our best, but those four were strong." Biyomon said. "The problem is that they're at a higher level than we are."

"What I can't believe is that Daemon was able to bring those four back after our parents defeated them a long time ago." Benson said. "I thought they would have been reborn like most digimon, possibly would have become good digimon, but they're the same evil ones from my father's stories."

"And after all of that, our parents are still telling us to stay out of this." Mason said. "What are we going to do?"

"Exactly what our parents don't want us to do." Musuko said. "We know why we were chosen now. We have to do something."

"Hey, guys." All of them looked and saw Cassie and Uria joining them.

"We heard what happened. I can't believe you four just snuck off and went to the Digital World." Cassie said. "That was rather irresponsible and really dangerous."

"And you've been out all night? No wonder you all look like zombies." Uria said. "You need to take better care of your complexions."

"Uria, we have bigger things to worry about than how we look." Natalie said with annoyance as she and the others just walked away.

"Hey! What could be more important than how one looks?" Uria questioned. Hard to believe that she's really Cody's daughter. Regardless of that, they followed after their friends to talk. "So, what happened? Where did you guys go?"

"Long story short, both worlds are in serious danger from a digimon named Daemon, and we might be the only ones that can stop him." Veemon said.

"Right... Also, Mason and Musuko suddenly became geniuses overnight as well." Cassie said.

"Hey!" Musuko and Mason complained, but obviously the girls weren't really believing their story. Regardless, class was over and all of them were on their way out. As all of them stepped outside and were on their way home. That was when they heard a car horn and saw Musuko's Dad there with Koji.

"Hey, Musuko. Thought I swing by and pick you and your brother up." Davis said.

"Hey, Dad. If this is about what happened, we weren't thinking of going to the Digital World again." Musuko said.

"Good observation. Why can't you put that brain power in your school work?" Davis said. "Now, come on. I promised Mom I would get you both home. The same goes the rest of you kids. Just head straight home."

"Yes, sir." The team groaned. With that, Musuko and Veemon climbed in the car so that Davis could take his boys home.

"You okay, Musuko?" Koji asked.

"I'm fine." Musuko said.

"No you're not. You're in trouble. You're in trouble." Salamno teased.

"Salamon, don't annoy Musuko." Davis said.

"By the way, where's Mom? Did she have to stay behind in her classroom or something?" Musuko asked.

"She's fine. She just...needed a little time to herself." Davis said.

"I thought she wanted to clear her head because the whole thing about our enemies returning and Musuko being dragged into it was really getting to her?" Veemon questioned.

"And I thought we weren't going to tell the boys that." Davis said with annoyance. Now Musuko was feeling bad. He might want to be part of the action, but he doesn't want to hurt his mother in the process. He might be a little scared of his mother, but she is one of the nicest people around. Musuko can only hope that she's doing okay.

...

Kari

Kari needed time to get her head around everything that has happened. That's why she went to the park. Seeing kids play with digimon and digimon interacting with humans was something she hoped for. After so many years, it finally came to be. She thought that meant that there wouldn't be some nutcase wanting to ruin it, but that's exactly what's happening and her own son is getting dragged into it. Now she's trying to figure out how to handle this.

"Kari, are you okay?" Gatomon asked.

"We've worked so hard for this, Gatomon." Kari said as she referred to everything. "This is how it should be. Why would anyone want to ruin this?"

"Kari, you know perfectly well that wherever there is light, there will always be darkness." Gatomon reminded. She's right about that, but Kari just wishes things to stay peaceful.

"Kari!"

"Hi, Aunt Kari!" Kari looked and saw Tai, Agumon, Tyson, and Koromon heading over.

"Hi, everyone." Kari said. "What are all of you doing here?"

"I picked up, Tyson from school and decided to hit the park." Tai said.

"Dad, is it okay if I go play on the playground?" Tyson asked.

"Sure. Just stay where your Aunt Kari or I can see you." Tai said.

"No worries. I'll stay with him. Let's play, Tyson!" Agumon cheered as he, Tyson, and Koromon ran into the playground.

"I'm not sure Agumon matured after all these years." Gatomon said as Tai had a seat next to his sister.

"I heard from Matt. He told me all about what happened." Tai said. "I can't imagine how freaked you and Davis were until Musuko and the kids came back. I also can't believe that some of our old enemies are back."

"And now they're going after our kids." Kari said as she felt a little misery coming over her. "Hopefully, Musuko and the kids will listen and will leave this to the proper authorities. Now that things are the way they are, there's no reason for kids to get involved in all of this."

"You really think that's going to stop them? It wouldn't stop us when we were kids." Tai said.

"But things are different." Kari said.

"That doesn't matter." Tai said. "The Digital World is calling for their help now. Our time has come to an end, and we have to trust that the next generation can take the responsibilities we have to endure. I do understand that you're scared and worried. I would be the same if Tyson was pulled into this like Musuko was. However, you and I both know that this is too big to simply ignore."

"I know. It's just...I thought we were done with all of this." Kari said. "Why did it have to be our kids? Why now? They're still so young, and I'm not sure they're ready for what might have to come."

"I get it, Kari." Tai said. "You're not the only one that thinks like that. Matt and Sora are worried about Natalie. Poor Mimi is already having a tough time with Malcolm, so the last thing she needs is worrying about Mason. Not to mention I'm worried T.K. and Mina don't like Benson pulling stuff like this. He's usually a good boy. Still, we always thought something like this might happen. After all, we've had more adventures with digimon than anyone out there. Now, maybe it's time we pass the torch to our kids."

"Thanks for trying to make me feel better, Tai, but it's not working." Kari said. "It's easy for you to say because Tyson isn't caught up in all of this. Musuko is."

"Hey, he's still my little nephew. I certainly don't want anything to happen to him." Tai claimed. "Still, he's a digidestined now. He should at least be trying to guide them on what they should do. If we don't, we could end up losing all that we worked for."

"But as a parent, I want Musuko to stay safe." Kari said. She's just not sure what she can do. While she understands the situation, the responsibilities of her being a parent is clouding her judgement. Not only are both worlds struggling because of Daemon, but it's like Kari's own two personal worlds, one of her being a parent and the other being a former digidestined, are struggling against each other as well.

...

Musuko

Davis managed to get the boys home and it was life as normal. Musuko and Veemon were just trying to enjoy the television. Just then, the home phone was going off and saw that the caller ID said it was the Takaishies.

"Hello?" Musuko said as he answered.

"Hey, Musuko. It's Benson." Benson said. "Listen, I've been thinking about it. Even though our parents want us to stay safe and out of trouble, we have to do something. Those four digimon might come after us again."

"You can say that again. I can't believe Benson is talking about going against his parents wishes." Musuko said as he was enjoying that. "Still, those four beat us. How can we beat them?"

"That Diaboromon we fought was a mega, but we found a way to beat him." Benson said. "Digimon are capable of digivolving further, and even ours. If we're going to win this, we need to find a way to get our digimon to grow stronger. We need to reach the ultimate-level, too." Musuko certainly liked the sound of that. They have to reach deeper into themselves to unlock greater power. Musuko and Benson know they are capable of doing that. They just need to figure out how they're going to.

...

Frustrated with his current situation, Myotismon seeks to have his vengeance and destruction of the digidestined. Believing he might have found a way to do so, he enters the human world and is faced with someone he knew quite well.
