OC Pt. I
~Detective Stabler's Apartment~
"Okay Partner," she says.
"Partner,"Stabler replies back. Even though it hasn't been that long since they last teamed up, it was always nice to work with Benson. All these years being partners, it felt easy. Still in sync with one another. They gaze into each other's eyes with signs of comfort and unspoken emotion only they could convey. Stabler breaks the comforting silence,"I'll give you and your team all the information we gathered on the case".
"Thanks. I'll brief them in the morning and let them know OC will be running point" Benson replies.
"Alright...and thanks again for having me over. Goodnight Captain" he announces as he makes his way out of the apartment.
"Of course. Goodnight Detective". She waves and closes the door. He waits to make sure he hears the lock mechanism click on her door before continuing to his car. He takes the elevator down to the garage. He waits until he is near his car to unlock it and before he gets in to leave he scans the garage just in case. He can never be too careful, especially with Liv. He backs out of the parking spot and heads home.
"Yea ma, everyone's fine. Eli is working, Randall is with Joe and I'm home,"Elliott reminds his mom.
"What about the baby?"
"She's not due yet ma. It's still early"
"Oh and your friend...what's her name...I-I forgot"
"It's okay ma, get-"
"OLIVIA!" Elliotts mom exclaims excitedly. Her memory has been getting worse and it makes her happy to remember. Even though sometimes she does forget that she has dementia, she will try her best to memorize everything. Stabler smiles at the fact his mother remembered Liv and begins," Liv's alright. Why don't you get some rest now and I'll talk to you later"
"Oh okay. I'll rest now," she agrees.
"Okay. Love you ma...bye"
"Bye Randall. Oh and tell Elliott to give me a call. I haven't heard from him in a while"
"Okay. I will ma...rest now," he says with a heartbreaking smile and hangs up the phone. He puts the phone down on the island in the kitchen. Becky comes out of her and Elliott Jr's room.
"Im sorry...I didn't want to interrupt," she apologized.
"No you're good. How are you feeling?"
"I'm good. The baby is moving. The doctors said everything looks fine. No complications," Becky informs.
"That's great...that's good to hear. I'm happy for you guys". He gives Becky a warm hug and huge smile. He would be lying if he said he wasn't excited for another grandchild.
"What's wrong?" Stabler questions still with a slight head tilt. He can tell Becky was shy to express whatever it is she's thinking.
"You can tell me, it's fine. I promise"
Becky looks at Stabler before she starts her concerns,"I'm nervous."
"About what?"
"Eli, the baby, if I'll be a good enough mother, baby sho-"
"Hold on" Elliott cuts off,"first off, that baby has amazing parents and will be surrounded by good people. You are doing everything a mother can do for their child. And Eli is safe. I made sure he got a job that was in crossfire. You know you remind me of Kathy..."
"Your wife?"
"Yea. She had the same concerns as you."
"Really?" She shyly asks.
"She did. We had Maureen, our first born, and all things you're worried about...she had the same worries."
"How did she get over it?"
"I came home and reminded her I wasn't leaving. That she was stuck with me. Eventually, with time, the worries went away," he advised. Becky nods her head as she takes in the information.
"Thank you Mr. Stabler" she says as they both look at Eli walking into the apartment.
"Hey" Eli kisses Becky on her forehead,"Hey dad. Whatcha guys talking about?"
"Oh nothing much. Mainly the baby shower you guys were planning," he addresses smirking. After while of discussions, Eli and Becky head to their room for the night. Elliott heads to his room and goes to his closet to and out a box of old pictures. He sits on the corner edge of the bed. He picks out a few pictures, laughing and grinning each picture as the memories come back from those days.
