When Astoria woke up, she felt two things: completely sore and utterly satisfied. Though Draco had originally wanted to go only round—not wanting to overdo it for her first time—she hadn't accepted that from him. She'd wanted more. She'd wanted all of him for hours upon hours. And, with not much convincing on her part, he did just that. Took her over and over in bed, treated her like a princess even if what they were doing was anything but graceful.
And now, he was next to her, his arm wrapped around her waist while he snored softly, his grip tight like he was afraid she'd disappear if he let go. His husky scent of mahogany and apples filled her senses while the warmth of him seeped into her very core. Astoria always thought that she would have waited until marriage to have sex, that her husband would be the one to take her virginity. But last night, as she stared at him across the table, she realized that she didn't want to wait. Draco would become her husband one day. Why put it off until then when her body craved his now? So she didn't regret it. Not one bit. It was incredible.
"Mmm, good morning," he rasped into her ear, pulling her close with a kiss to her cheek. Astoria felt his hard member against her back and flushed all over again. "How are you? How did you sleep?"
She smiled and turned to face him. He always looked so beautiful in the mornings. Less put together, yes, but more real too. Like this would be the Draco of her future, the one that lay next to her and held her while he slept. Her Draco.
"Amazing. To both questions."
He grinned and kissed her cheek. "I'm glad. I've got to head to class here soon. I'll see you later?" She nodded enthusiastically, which made Draco chuckle. "Good. I'll be out for a bit tonight so if you want to come early, that's fine, but I won't be there until dark."
"Alright," Astoria said, standing to get dressed. From behind her, she heard Draco whistle. It made her giggle. "What?"
He ran a hand through his hand and sighed. "If you think that I'm not going to fuck you after seeing that ass look so damn perky in the morning, then you would be quite wrong, my love." His eyes darkened and he laid back on the bed, arms outstretched and cock standing tall just waiting for her to ride it. "Come here."
Astoria felt heat pooling between her legs. She obeyed immediately, sighing as she sank onto his hard member. It wasn't long until Draco's thrusts and her hip movements had them close to the edge, his hands grabbing her hips tight enough to leave marks while his mouth ravaged her breasts. "Yes, Draco, yes!" she cried as he pulsed beneath her. Finally, after he had pulled out just to come on her chest, she sighed, exhausted and yet fully satisfied.
"What a way to wake up."
He smirked. "I could get used to this."
Astoria ran her hands down his chest, letting her nails lightly go over the marks she left on him already. Draco shivered in response. Then, she leaned down and whispered in his ear, "I already have," before standing and beginning to dress.
He groaned. "My love, you are killing me."
She grinned and slipped on her dress. "That's too bad. I can't make love to a ghost."
His eyes widened and he stood, wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her neck. She laughed as he did so, enjoying the attention a little bit too much. "I take it back," he murmured. "Not dead. Not a ghost. I'm a fully alive man perfectly capable of making love to you."
Astoria giggled and pecked his lips. "Happy Valentine's Day."
Draco smiled and kissed her back. "Happy Valentine's Day, my love."
. . .
"I think we put too much pressure on Valentine's Day," Aria said with a scowl on her face as she tightened her coat. "Why is it that only one day can be romantic?"
Astoria rolled her eyes. "You're just grumpy because Theo got detention and you had to go to Hogsmeade with me and not him."
"Who smokes in the middle of the potions classroom and expects there to not be an explosion? The day of an important holiday no less! This was the only night we could get a reservation at Madam Puddifoot's since it was completely full for weeks!" she exclaimed, throwing her hands up in exasperation. What was supposed to be a romantic night at Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop in Hogsmeade between girlfriend and boyfriend was now a girl's night out between Astoria and Aria. While Theo had definitely become less of a chain smoker since meeting her, old habits died hard. Or, in this case, old habits almost made him die. Theo's common sense wasn't always common. Apparently, a lit cigarette and fire didn't seem like a bad idea at the time to him.
So now the two—who were almost at Hogsmeade—had decided to spend their evenings together since neither of them had a Valentine. Both of them knew that Aria knew about Astoria's tryst with Draco but neither of them was willing to acknowledge that fact out loud. Astoria didn't want to have to explain how he was still engaged to Daphne but was going to break it off with her any day now to be with her and Aria probably didn't want to ask about exactly that.
Astoria looped her arm through her friend's just as they neared the edges of Hogsmeade Village. "You know, I'm glad we got to spend Valentine's Day. I feel like I've hardly seen you lately and I definitely need some girl time."
"Agreed," Aria said softly because that was Aria. She was made of short sentences and quiet voices while Astoria was made of overexcited babbling and lots of personality to make up for her status as a younger and often ignored sister. That was why the two got along so well. Both of them felt listened to and heard. Neither of them felt like they had to change for the other.
The two girls finally reached the tea shop, opening the door with a jingling of the bell. Madam Puddifoot's was expectedly crowded with lots of happy couples but after her perfect morning with Draco, she felt nothing but happy. Plus, she had her best friend by her side.
Astoria smiled to herself as she smelled the lingering remains of chocolate and roses in the air of the tea shop. This was the best holiday in her opinion. All about love and happiness and romance. Aria... well, Aria was too angry at her boyfriend to agree so Astoria kept her opinions to herself, happy as can be as Madam Puddifoot pointed toward their table across the room.
"We have so much to talk about," Astoria babbled with a grin while holding onto Aria's arm tightly. "Like why Filch has been acting odder than usual. Or why the Bloody Baron has been visiting Ravenclaw Tower so often. Or—"
But Astoria stopped midsentence, halting in the middle of the crowded restaurant.
Because there in the corner sat Daphne and Draco. On a date.
Her sister—her sisters, as in Daphne Greengrass, the woman who didn't even wear the Hogwarts skirt and instead opted for pants—was in a dress, her perfect blonde hair in a ponytail as she leaned over the table, speaking with a small smile on her face to Draco. He was wearing a suit with his long fingers reaching across the table to grab Daphne's hands.
Draco had planned this date with Daphne. This was the only night we could get a reservation at Madam Puddifoot's since it was completely full for weeks. He had been planning this and yet he hadn't told her. Never even hinted that he might have plans. I'll be out for a bit tonight. Out with her sister. He didn't have dinner with her last night because of their classes. He did it because he chose to spend the evening with Daphne instead.
Astoria felt every piece of her heart shatter bit by bit the longer she stared at them. Aria seemed to finally notice the couple too, her arm turning into a bar of support as Astoria felt her legs weaken. "Oh, Astoria," she whispered, looking back and forth between where the couple sat and where Astoria stood with tears quickly filling her eyes.
"I'm fine," she lied in a cracking voice. "I can't be here anymore though. I'm so sorry."
"Don't be sorry, Azzy! Come on. Let's go to the Three Broomsticks. Or Honeydukes."
But Astoria just shook her head. "I don't want to be anywhere right now."
He didn't even buy me flowers. I just assumed he would give them to me later tonight. I never thought that he would have given them to another woman. And then the last bit of the devastating puzzle finally clicked into place.
Draco wasn't out with the other Greengrass sister because Astoria was the other Greengrass sister. Despite his sweet words, despite his reassurances, he had never tried to break off the engagement. Daphne wasn't the other woman. Astoria was. And as long as she was with him, she always would be.
Astoria let go of Aria's arm and bolted out of the tea shop before anyone could notice her. She was already humiliated enough. She didn't need to add a public scene on top of it.
"Astoria! Astoria, wait!" Aria called, quickly catching up to her friend. It wasn't like Astoria could run far, not with her heart feeling like it was on fire, with her eyes so filled with tears that the world was blurry, with her body desperately trying not to collapse into the ground.
"Astoria," her friend said, sounding like she was a million miles away even though her arms wrapped around Astoria and assured her that she was right there. "Astoria, I'm so sorry."
Numbly, she returned the hug, so thankful that her friend was taller than her so she could bury her head in Aria's shoulder. "It should have been me," she whispered in a voice that was as broken as her heart. "It should have been me in there on a Valentine's Day date with him. But it wasn't. Because he didn't choose me. He chose her. He'll always choose her. As long as I'm with him, I'm always the other Greengrass."
"Shh, sweetheart," Aria said in a soft voice, her small hands reaching out and brushing through Astoria's head in a soothing motion that reminded Astoria, painfully, of her sister. Because in any other situation, Daphne would have been the one she ran to. Now, she wanted nothing more than to run away and never see her again, as dramatic as that might have been. "Draco made his choice but that doesn't make you any less amazing. You are perfect as you are and one day, you'll find a man who will see that. You will find someone who chooses you first."
Astoria sniffled. "I know. But why couldn't it have been him?" she whimpered, her bottom lip trembling. "Why couldn't he have chosen me?"
She felt so stupid for giving herself to him last night. Stupid for ever thinking they would get married. Stupid for thinking he would end the betrothal for her. Stupid for letting herself fall for sweet words, nice gifts, and a pretty face. Stupid for falling in love with him.
"What are you going to do?" Aria mumbled into Astoria's head.
Astoria leaned back and smoothed her black hair. She fixed her dress and coat before wiping the smudged makeup between her eyes. She was Astoria Greengrass. She was going to get through this. As hurt as she was, she would survive. She always had.
"I'm going to tell him the truth," she replied with a voice that sounded much stronger than she felt. "Draco Malfoy and I are done."
Ahhh, I told you guys it wasn't going to be fluff for much longer. What do you think? Next chapter is in Draco's POV!
