X-Men vs. Brotherhood Round 2

Merely two weeks passed quickly since Dani made her decision to stay in the Institute. Practically everyone had already gotten used to her, even though Ray would call her a brat at times, which resulted in him getting kicked in the shin or her stomping on his foot. Also, the kids were surprised that she was the infamous Twinkie Bandit before she got caught by Logan and grounded by the Fentons.

Fortunately, her grounding didn't last long since Dani got a stomach ache as a result of eating too many twinkies, which Jack and Maddie felt that her stomach ache was punishment enough. And so, her grounding ended when she fully recovered.

Currently, with the adoption process still ongoing, Dani was homeschooled for the time being by Hank, just until Jack and Maddie officially become her adopted parents and she'll be able to go to school. In Hank's perspective, she was quite intelligent for a twelve-year-old girl, even though she is a clone.

Right now, Professor Xavier entered the lab as Hank was grading Dani's homework and quizzes while the bald telepath asked.

"So, Hank, how did she do?"

"Quite well, actually." Hank said as he put his pen down. "Danielle's results show me that she has the intelligence of a middle school student, despite her age."

"I see." Professor Xavier replies. "So, when the time comes, she'll attend middle school with Jamie." he looks at Hank. "What of the serum?"

"Still a work in progress for the permanent cure." Hank states. "However, the one being administered temporarily is showing me very good results."

To prove it, Hank types a key when he goes to a computer, which the results were displayed on-screen.

"I've been keeping tabs on Danielle's condition and updating data on a daily basis. So far, everything is as it should be."

"Good." Professor Xavier said in relief but concerned. "Let's just hope that Danielle won't suffer the same fate as her cloned brethren."

"I couldn't agree more, professor." Hanks said, equally concerned.

In the rec room, Danny was currently playing pool with Rogue, Sam, and Tucker in a game of partners; Sam was partnered with Tucker while Danny partnered with Rogue. Currently, it was Sam's turn as she took a shot for a solid 2-ball to sink it into the side pocket, but missed.

"Darn it!"

As Danny took aim at a striped 9-ball to sink it into a corner pocket, Tucker asks.

"So, how is Danielle adjusting to the Institute?"

"Good, actually." Danny said as he took a shot and sank his target.

Walking around the table to aim for the striped 12-ball, Danny continues.

"Mr. McCoy is currently homeschooling her just until my parents officially adopt her and she'll be going to school herself."

"That's cool." Sam comments.

Danny takes his shot. Not only did he miss, but the cue ball sank into the corner pocket.

"Darn."

After Rogue removed the cue ball from the pocket to reposition it to take aim for the striped 12-ball that Danny missed eariler. The mutant goth girl took her shot and sank the ball. Walking around, Rogue looks at the table before taking aim again, but at the 11-ball, and sank it into the side pocket. Then, Rogue sank the 15-ball easily as Tucker's jaw dropped at the fact that Rogue was such a pool shark and didn't miss even once. When she finished sinking the 13-ball and the 14-ball, Rogue finally looked at the table to find the perfect angle to sink the 8-ball.

When she located it, Rogue takes aim as she said with a smirk, after pointing with her cue stick."

"Screw ball, cornah pocket."

Rogue takes her shot as the black ball ricochets off the rail before it finally rolls to the corner pocket she was going for and fell in Sam, and Tucker's jaws dropped from losing so quickly as Danny and Rogue shared a high-five after the former recovered from his shock

"Aw man!" Tucker said with a pout.

"Wow!" Danny compliments with impression. "Remind me not make any bets against you."

"Ah'll make a note of it." Rogue said in response.

Danny turns to his friends as he asked.

"Best two out of three?"

Sam and Tucker shrugged before the two racked the balls and set them up for a new game as the ghost boy and the mutant goth girl went first. Rogue took aim and broke the balls, which sank the 4-ball and the 1-ball in the process.

At the Brotherhood house, Lance was in the living room mulling over Kitty. He had a gut feeling that being in a relationship with her was hopeless. Mainly because they were on different teams. Also, he was still itching to get payback on Danny like the rest of the boys for humiliating them in school. Especially since Fred called first dibs on him if they ever fight the X-Men again, which the others agreed to.

Speaking of Fred, he was in the kitchen getting a snack, which normal people would call a meal. Pietro was out and about for a little bit before he returned. Todd was coming downstairs while Tabitha secluded herself in Mystique's room that she claimed as her own.

He could say with honesty that he was rather enjoying the peace and quiet since the boys aren't hassling him over his feelings for Kitty.

Soon, he hears the door unlock before opening as he said to himself.

"So much for peace and quiet."

The next thing he knew, he hears a familiar feminine voice that was cold and sent chills down his spine.

"I see you boys let this place go downhill while I was gone."

The boys stopped dead in their tracks as they see a woman with blue skin, shoulder-length red hair, and yellow reptilian eyes donning a black two combat outfit that exposed her midriff. The very woman who leads the Brotherhood.

Mystique.

They couldn't believe that after the events of Asteroid-M, she went missing, and now Mystique unexpectedly returned, which was quite a shock for them.

"Uh...well, you see..." Lance stammered.

"Never mind." Mystique said. "Right now, I have more important matters to look into." she takes out a disc.

"Where did you get that, yo?" Todd asks.

"When I posed as Risty, I was able to infiltrate the Institute while Xavier's students threw a Halloween party." Mystique explains. "Sabotaging Juggernaut's containment unit was all I need to get Xavier away. Thanks to a little hacker, I was able to obtain certain files from the Cerebro successfully."

The Brotherhood boys look at one another before Mystique continues to speak.

"Also, while I was keeping tabs on Xavier's students, I've made quite an interesting discovery." she sees the Brotherhood glance at one another. "It appears that Xavier has taken in another student, though not a mutant like us. His name is Danny Fenton." she cups her chin. "And from my understanding, he's actually half-ghost."

The Brotherhood instantly had a sour look as Pietro said in response.

"Yeah? Tell us something that we don't know!"

Mystique was surprised as she rose an eyebrow and asked.

"You all have met him before?"

"Yeah! And we want some payback on him!" Fred states.

Mystique smirked as she said.

"How interesting. Well, you'll get your chance. Do nothing to him for the time being, not until I look further into this." she turns to walk away. "Now if you'll excuse me, I want to go to my room."

As Mystique was about to ascend upstairs, the Brotherhood boys had a worried look about the woman finding Tabitha in her room. Once they see her get to the top of the stairs, they look at one another as they began counting down.

"3...2..." they cringe hard. "1...!"

Suddenly, they hear Mystique's voice booming through Tabitha's sobs of terror.

"WHAT HAPPENED TO MY DOOR?! WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY ROOM?!"

Lance shook his head as he mumbled.

"Boy, is she gonna get it from her."

The others nod their heads in agreement. Soon, they hear footsteps from up the stairs, indicating that Mystique forced Tabitha out of her room and into a spare room.

Back at the Institute, in the lab, Danny steps out of the ghost portal before he closed the shutter doors.

"Well, that was an easy patrol." he comments to himself.

After stretching, Danny turned intangible before he phased through the ceiling of the lab and entered his room. Once he transformed back to his human form, he heard a knock on the door.

"Come in."

Danielle phased through the door to enter his room as she had a plate of pizza in her hand while she practically gobbled up a slice in her other hand.

"Hey. Mom and Dad just ordered some pizza a while ago." Danielle said with her mouthful. "They asked me to come and get you."

Danny casts a suspicious look as Danielle asks

"What?"

"Are you sure Mom and Dad ordered pizza?" Danny asks in suspicion.

"Duh!" Danielle said while rolling her eyes. "Why do you think they sent me to get you?"

Danny still had his suspicious look as he replies.

"Considering that you swiped Mr. McCoy's twinkies before, I wouldn't be surprised if you swiped that from someone."

Danielle pouts as she said in annoyance.

"That happened two weeks ago, and I still can't live it down."

After taking another bite, Danielle said.

"Suit yourself, but if you don't want yours, I'll be more than happy to take it."

As Danielle phased through the door when she ran off, Danny pursued as he shouts

"Oh no you don't!"

All the while, the two didn't realize that through the open windows, a crow watched from a distance.

It was yet another school day. Danny just walked out of his second period class. Right when he closed his locker and was about to head for his third period class, he heard the same obnoxious voice that belonged to an equally obnoxious blonde jock yet again.

"Hey Fen-turd!"

Danny rolled his eyes in annoyance before he turned to face Dash with a glare.

"Dash, I'm not in the mood. So, get lost."

Dash sneered as he replies.

"Hello! Quarterback! Top of the food chain here!"

Danny dropped his backpack and said

"All right. Take your shot."

"With pleasure!" Dash said with a menacing grin.

However, when Dash threw a punch, he was caught off-guard when Danny bobbed to the left to dodge it before he grabbed his fist and twisted his arm to his back. Dash cried in pain as Danny held him place.

"I said, get lost!" Danny grimaced.

After Danny released him, he grabbed his backpack and walked off to class. When Dash got up, his swung his arm a bit to numb the intense pain. He growled as he stormed towards the boy when another voice barked.

"Hey!"

He stops. Turning around, Dash sees a ticked off Rogue who pounds her fist in her hand and cracked her knuckles with a glare.

"Ya want all your teeth punched out?" she asks in a threatening manner.

Dash backs away as he holds up his hands in mock surrender.

"Uh..." he chuckled nervously. "No thanks."

"Then, Ah suggest ya get lost." Rogue grimaced.

Not needing to be told twice, Dash bolts to get away from Rogue as Danny watched with amusement and a chuckle.

"That's a sight to warm a guy's heart." he quips.

"Ah thank the real question is, when will he learn?" Rogue said, causing Danny to shrug.

Suddenly, Danny felt being gently grasped. He blushed as he looked at his hand to see Rogue's before his gaze locked on to the mutant goth girl's eyes while had a small smile on him.

"Ah thank weh bettah get ta class." she said.

"Right."

While the two walked off as they talked about Danielle privately, they didn't notice that Sam was watching them at a distance with jealousy. The human goth girl growled as her fists shook with rage before she punched a random locker, leaving a dent before storming off to her class as a random student whispered to his friend.

"Someone's cranky."

However, Sam wasn't the only one who watched them.

Risty was watching the two as well as she caught wind of their conversation. Her eyes had a faint yellow glow before it fades as the girl, who in reality, is Mystique in disguise, walks off.

The final bell rang, marking the end of the school day. Danny closed his locker door and was about to walk to the exit before someone grabbed him and pinned him to one of the closed lockers. Danny sees that it was Duncan, mad as an angry bull.

"You and I have unfinished business, you little geek!" Duncan sneered.

Danny rolled his eyes in annoyance before he said.

"Honestly, our business is finished."

Without warning, Danny delivers an uppercut to Duncan, stunning him as he releases his hold and reels back from the attack that he clearly didn't see coming. Suddenly, Danny grabs him and uses a hip throw to bring him down to the floor easily, despite the older jock's size.

As Danny walked away, Duncan shook his head to regain his senses as he looked at the boy, completely bewildered that he took him down easily. Before he could pursue Danny, Duncan heard a familiar voice.

"Back off, Matthews!"

Duncan sees Scott when he turns around, who has his arms crossed, completely unamused. The jock confronts Scott as he said.

"Mind your own business, Summers! It's between me and that little geek!"

"On the contrary, since Danny happens to be a friend of mine, I'm making it my business." Scott counters, not intimidated by the jock at all.

Duncan mulled it over before he said.

"You can't guard him forever. One day, he'll get his."

Duncan walks away as Scott watches him, ensuring the jock isn't going to try anything underhanded. He shook his head in annoyance and disappointment before he walked towards the exit of the campus in order to return to the Institute.

It was the afternoon at the Institute. After the X-Men were finished with their homework, they had a Danger Room training session with Logan. The session that the burly Canadian had in mind was infiltrating a heavily guarded facility.

On the north side, Spyke used a sleep gas to knock out two of the guards before he used a communicator

"North perimeter, clear."

In another area, Phantom-X was invisible as he approached two more guards silently before grabbing their heads and ramming them into each other to knock them out cold. He pulls out his own communication device to report in.

"South perimeter, clear."

Rogue absorbs one of the guards to a knockout before she knocks out the other with a single blow to the neck. After looking to see that no one else was around, she reports.

"West perimetah, clear."

Shadowcat quickly dealt with the guards as she punched them to knock them out before she reported.

"Like, east perimeter, clear."

"Good work, team." Cyclops replies. "Regroup and we should gain access to the control room."

As they regrouped to the area where Cyclops, Jean, and Nightcrawler were waiting, they looked to see the control room as Cyclops whispered.

"Jean, see if you can get Kurt up to the camera so he can disable it."

"Got it."

Jean uses her telekinesis to lift up Nightcrawler to get behind the surveillance camera so he can disable it. However, she grunted with a struggle as she asked.

"Kurt? Did you put on more weight?!"

Rogue rolled her eyes as she said.

"Heh had ta stop by at the Gut Bomb for a snack...again."

"I can't help it! It's an addiction." Nightcrawler whispered.

As soon as he was near the camera, Nightcrawler unplugged it before teleporting back to the group. After Shadowcat disabled the alarm, the team got inside the control room.

Only to be met by several armed guards surrounding and aiming their rifles at them. The X-Men were caught off-guard with shock as one of them demands.

"Like, how did they know we were here?!"

An alarm sounded before the simulation deactivates, returning them to the same metallic room that they were all familiar with.

"What did we do wrong?" Evan asks.

"Basically, porcupine, you, Spooky, Stripes, and Half-pint took out the guards too soon, for starters." Logan spoke through the PA of the control room.

"What do ya mean by that?" Rogue asks with her hand on her hip."

"The guards you took out didn't check in as scheduled. As a result, they increased security measures and anticipated where and when you were going to make your next move." Logan explained.

"Oh..." Rogue said, mainly to herself.

"Also, you forgot to check all areas for surveillance cameras to disable." Logan points out. "Which also is how you lot.got caught."

The X-Men kicked themselves for their mistake.

"All right. That'll be all for today. Hit the showers." Logan commands.

Several minutes later, the group entered the kitchen to either get some grub or something to drink due to the Danger Room being a gym of sorts, with state of the art technology. However, they see Maddie wearing an apron and baking some brownies as she noticed them.

"Well, I hope Mr. Logan didn't have you overdo it on your training?"

"No more than usual." Kurt replies.

"Well, then it's a good thing I've baked up a storm of brownies." Maddie states.

Indeed, there was quite a stack of brownies that were freshly baked and cut into squares as the X-Men helped themselves after getting a glass for milk. As Kitty took a bite out of her brownie, she was impressed with the taste as she compliments.

"These are, like, so good. I can't seem to get mine right at all."

Danny remembered how Kurt stopped him from eating one of her muffins when he and his family first moved to the Institute. Also, a few weeks back, Kurt begged Danny to hide him from the brunette when she baked a batch of muffins that when one fell, it would leave cracks on the tile floor.

Maddie smiled as she offered.

"Well, if you want, Jack and I can teach you over the weekend. What do you say?"

Kitty perked up as she said.

"That'll be, totally great!"

All who knew how terrible Kitty's cooking was silently prayed that Jack and Maddie could teach her how to cook properly. This way, it'll save time dodging her or dumping the food secretly without her noticing.

Basically, the X-Men were lounging about enjoying the brownies; even Danielle joined in after asking Maddie for some.

"Your folks are cool, Danny." Evan comments. "But I like mine better, no offense."

"You got to go with family, right?" Danny asks with a shrug before he sees Evan nod in response.

Meanwhile, at the Brotherhood house, Mystique looked around with pride at the fact that the boys finally cleaned up the place under her watch. With the money she managed to save from her days as a mercenary and as a former principal of Bayville High, repairs were made. Thanks to that, the house was fully restored and tidied, making it look very nice.

The shapeshifter gathered the Brotherhood boys in the living room. However, Tabitha was out. Mystique knew that because she was one of Xavier's students, she won't fight the X-Men which is a major problem for her. The only reason why she was here was because she had nowhere else to go. So, she will have to find a way to persuade the blonde girl to fight them.

However, there were more important matters she needed to discuss.

"Okay, listen up." Mystique begins. "I just found out that Charles Xavier has not one, but two half-ghosts living in the Institute."

The Brotherhood were confused before Pietro asks.

"If that's true, how come we haven't seen the second one?"

"She's younger than all of you." Mystique replied before seeing their look of shock. "From my understanding, it seems that someone cloned her from Danny, somehow. However, she is being homeschooled for the moment until she is ready to attend the same school as that Jamie child."

The Brotherhood boys glance at one another as Mystique continued her briefing.

"I have no doubts that if Xavier has any data on her, it'll be vastly incomplete, and Danny's family are in the process of adopting her, so the girl is irrelevant for now. Your primary focus is on the boy."

"And how do you suppose we lure him out?" Lance asks. "As far as we know, he only goes after these ghosts that appear."

"But don't forget that he is one of the X-Men." Mystique states. "So wherever they go, he'll go too. Besides, Magneto will meet Danny on his own, soon enough."

The Brotherhood boys glance at one another once more.

"Okay. Here's what you're going to do..."

At the Institute, Professor Xavier was in his office, checking reports when he hears Cerebro sounding an alarm; one that particularly detects a large amount of mutant signatures in one area. After he enters the Cerebro room, the telepath placed on his headgear before he accessed the computer. What he found got him concerned. Once he removed his headgear, Professor Xavier contacts Logan through his telepathy in a panic.

"Logan! Gather the X-Men! The Brotherhood boys are acting up at a construction site!"

Once Logan got the message, he went to collect them. First, he got Scott, Rogue, Jean, Evan and Kitty. Now, he headed straight for the rec room to see Danny and Kurt playing cards with the other kids as the burly Canadian barked like a drill sergeant.

"Elf! Spooky! Suit up and get to the hangar, now!"

After Danny transformed to his Phantom-X form, Kurt teleports him out of the rec room. Instantly, Danielle gets excited as she jumped to her feet.

"We're going on a mission?! Awesome! I'll get ready!"

"No you ain't, Shorty." Logan said in a stern voice. "This mission is X-Men only. You're gonna stay put."

"Aw! No fair!" Danielle whined.

As Logan stalked off to suit up, Danielle sits on the couch with a pout and a huff as she crossed her arms.

"Big, fat, meanie." she mumbles.

"I heard that and I ain't fat." Logan replies from a distance.

Danielle was startled that the burly Canadian hears what she said recently as she yelped.

"Eep!"

At the construction site, after landing the X-Velocity in an area nearby, the X-Men were searching the area in two teams while Logan searched alone. Danny was with Rogue and Evan as they looked around in one part while Jean, Scott, Kitty, and Kurt were in another part for their search.

"Hey Danny? Anything?" Evan asks.

Knowing what Evan was mistakenly referring to, he rolled his eyes and said.

"Dude, my ghost sense only goes off when a ghost is nearby. I can't sense danger like Spider-Man, you know!"

"Okay! Jeez, bite my head off!" Evan snapped.

Both Danny and Rogue glared at him for that crack. As they continued their search, the floors suddenly creaked under their feet, indicating they were going to cave in. Danny quickly grabs Evan and Rogue as the floors collapse, causing the debris to fall 30 feet into a hole below them. While Danny was getting them to safety, Rogue looked away to hide the blush on how the ghost boy was holding her.

Once they have landed safely, Danny asks.

"Are you two okay?"

"Yeah, man. That was a close one." Evan said in response.

However, Rogue saw movement from behind Danny as she shouted.

"Danny! Behahnd ya!"

Danny looks to see Blob lift a barrel as if it was a sack of chicken feathers and tossed it towards them. Rogue and Evan jumped out of the way while Danny turned intangible as the projectile sailed through him harmlessly before landing with a crash. In an instant, the remaining Brotherhood boys emerged from their hiding places as they began their fight with the X-Men.

"You guys help the others." Danny said. "I'll take him."

As Rogue and Evan took off, Fred chuckled as he cracked his knuckles.

"Funny, you should say that. Since I'm the one who's gonna pound ya!"

"Bring it on, tubby!" Danny quips as he got in a fighting stance.

Fred stops as he was appalled as tears started to leak from his eyes.

"Tubby...?"

Instantly, Fred becomes red with rage as he growled with anger as he shouts.

"Nobody calls me, Tubby !"

Fred charged at Danny and threw several punches at him. However, he couldn't land a good shot thanks to the ghost boy's superior speed and agility, effortlessly dodging each punch. When Fred missed once more, Danny threw his own set of punches, but none of them seemed to faze him. The ghost boy tries a flying kick after gaining distance. Even that didn't work as the impact was absorbed and Danny was bounced back. He used his flight to slow himself down.

"Ha! I'm the Blob!" Fred taunted. "You can't hurt me!"

"Oh really?" Danny asks as he saw Fred charging at him

Suddenly, Danny turned invisible as Fred stopped. He looks around to see where his target went off to. However, Fred didn't realize that Danny was right behind him until a ghost ray hit him in the back of the head. Fred stumbled around until he was dangerously close to the edge of the hole that Danny saved Evan and Rogue from falling into. He waves his arms, trying to balance himself while Danny turns visible while flying to him.

As Fred was leaning backward, Danny simply taps him before the mutant finally fell the 30-foot drop to the ground below with a crash. Fred gets to his feet, completely unharmed before looking up to see Danny.

"Hey! Get me out here!"

"Sorry, but you need a time-out, mister." Danny said like a parent. "Now be a good boy and think about what you did."

"When I get my hands on you...! Fred shouts while shaking his fists

Danny didn't hear Fred finish his threat as he flew off to help the others.

Avalanche, Quicksilver, and Toad were giving the X-Mem quite a challenge. Kurt and Todd were really going at it with one another. Evan was with Scott, Jean, and Logan as they fought Pietro, and Kitty and Rogue fought against Lance.

Pietro set up parts to trap Logan in a confined space, almost like a cage as the burly Canadian looked for an exit. After the mutant speedster gave a mock salute to Logan, he didn't anticipate that Jean would take advantage of his distraction as she lifted him up with her telekinesis before Scott blasts him to a wall. To finish things off, Evan fires a few spikes to keep Pietro pinned to the wall. All the while, Logan slashed open his containment with his razor-sharp adamantium claws.

Kitty and Rogue were trying to keep their balance as Lance used multiple tremors to keep them at bay. However, while he was focused on the two girls, the boy didn't pay attention to who was heading his way. Suddenly, he hears a familiar voice.

"Heads up, fruit bowl!"

Lance looks up to see Danny fire a ghost at his feet, knocking him off balance. As Lance got up, Danny landed with his fists clenched, ready to fight.

"Oh, you have no idea how much I'm going to enjoy this." Lance said with a malicious grin.

Before either could make a move, Danny's ghost sense went off, startling him

"Oh man, now what?" he bemoans.

In an instant, a ghost clad in striped pink pajamas tackles Danny as the ghost boy tries to pry him off.

"Get off me, Klemper!"

"But I just want to be your friend!" Klemper said.

Kitty, Rogue, and Lance see the interaction as the mutant goth rose an eyebrow with a weirded out look and said.

"What the...?"

Danny manages to kick Klemper off while Kitty and Rogue jump out of the way before the ghost lands near Lance. The ghost pays no attention to the boy as he sets his gaze upon the confused brunette in front of him.

"Will you be my friend?" Klemper asks.

"Like, no way!" Kitty retorts. "You should like, try getting a puppy or something."

In response to her rejection, Klemper inhales before he unleashed his ice breath at her. While Rogue got out of the way, the brunette shrieked as she phased herself to avoid being frozen. When Klemper stopped, she started to shiver from the cold attack.

Lance saw what happened as he shouted.

"I don't know who you are, but you made a big mistake!"

Lance started up another tremor, but due to Klemper being a ghost, it had no effect on him. However, the ghost was suddenly hit by an energy beam; a beam that was really Danny using the Fenton Thermos as he sucked in Klemper while the ghost wailed

"Will no one be my friend?!"

While Danny sealed the cap, Rogue touched Lance to knock him as Kitty asked.

"T-Trouble just s-s-seems to, like...f-follow you, d-doesn't it?"

"Hey, you know the old saying," Danny states. "You're only in trouble if you get caught."

Suddenly, a large hand grabs Danny as he hears someone yell

"Gotcha!"

Danny sees that he is face to face with an angry Fred, who managed to get out of the hole by using the stairs.

"I'm in trouble!" Danny bemoaned.

Right when Fred was about to give Danny a beat down, Rogue used Lance's powers she absorbed to cause a quake. Fred lost balance as he released his grip. Instantly, Danny overshadowed the large boy and started to make him beat himself up.

Hidden at a distance, Mystique was watching the entire fight. She even witnessed the appearance of Klemper before Danny sealed him. As Danny emerged from Fred after making him knock himself down, she felt she had seen enough. The woman quickly tossed an object before she whistled.

The group saw the object land but didn't see the Brotherhood boys shut their eyes tightly. The device bursts into a blinding light as the X-Men were blinded, giving the Brotherhood enough time to flee. It was only a minute before they opened their eyes and saw that their foes were gone.

"Where'd they go?" Danny asks.

"Looks like they fled the scene." Kurt states before looking at Danny. "By the way, who was that?"

Danny lets out an exasperated sigh before he said in response.

"That was Klemper. Annoying like the Box Ghost, but also a question-mark ghost."

Scott cupped his chin as he mulled on a thought; one that Jean noticed without using her telepathy as she asked.

"What is it, Scott?" she asks out of concern.

"Call me crazy, but somehow I have the strangest feeling that they lured us out here." Scott comments. "It's as if they wanted to test us for something."

"Got that impression too, eh?" Logan asks before he sees Kitty still shivering. "You okay, half-pint?"

"J-just a little...c-c-cold, Mr... Mr. Logan." Kitty managed to say as she continued to shiver.

"Come on, we better get going." Logan said as he needed to get the brunette warmed up before she got sick or worse, hyperthermia. The burly Canadian noticed a scent that was oddly familiar. However, when he looked back for a minute, he saw no movement, no sign of life, nothing. Turning around, he proceeds to follow the X-Men to the X-Velocity.

At the Institute, Kitty sat in the living room, in front of the chimney as the fire burned the logs while she had a thick blanket over her. Despite that, she was still shivering from Klemper's icy breath, even though she phased through it to dodge the attack. Soon, Maddie enters with a hot cup of tea as she squat down to hand it to the brunette.

"Here you go, dear." Maddie said. "Just drink small sips and you'll warm up in time."

"Th-thank you, M-M-Mrs. Fenton." Kitty said as she gratefully took the tea cup.

Kitty takes small sips as instructed by Maddie. Instantly, she begins to warm up as Professor Xavier entered the living room.

"Kitty. I hope you're doing all right." he said calmly.

"I totally am, now." Kitty replied before she drank some more of her tea.

Meanwhile, Danny recently returned from the Ghost Zone after dumping Klemper there and was currently secluded in his room. He took a deep breath before he spoke to himself.

"So Rogue, you wanna hang out for our first date?" he paused before slapping himself. "No. That stinks."

Danny pondered as he sat on his bed. As of late, he's been thinking of how to ask Rogue out on a date, but so far, he hasn't found the right words.

"Man, this is harder than I thought it would be." he comments to himself.

For the ghost boy, his mind was constantly on Rogue when he was alone and unoccupied. It wasn't like how he was crushing on Paulina since last year. No, this was different. For Danny, he genuinely was attracted to the mutant goth girl. In his perspective, she was absolutely unique. When she took him away from the Institute while his family and friends prepped for his 15th birthday, he witnessed Rogue standing up to Paulina without even the slightest intimidation. At school, she made Dash run away with his tail between his legs twice over. Also, when she and the other X-Men rescued him, Rogue gave Vlad a serious beat down, even though he knew it won't be enough to convince his archenemy to leave him be.

To Danny, Rogue was definitely a unique girl in her own way. He looked at his hand; the same one that she gently held while they were at school as he had a small smile. In so many ways, she got his attention so easily.

Taking a deep breath, Danny stands up as he comments to himself once more.

"Okay, let's try again."

Soon, the ghost boy tries to rehearse on asking Rogue out for their first date... with minimal success.

Well, that's another chapter completed. Stay tuned for the next chapter where Danny, Sam, Tucker, and the X-Men discover Risty's true identity and Tucker's reaction to the truth. Also, check out The Case of the Missing Twinkies, if you haven't done so.

Jesse: Wait and see.

Guest (Jan 31st): Thank you.

Guest (Jan 28th): When Wanda makes her appearance, you'll see how she and Danny will first interact.

DJ Rodriguez: Well, Rogue knows how it feels to be used, so you can't blame for giving Vlad a beat down the way she did.

RandomAnonymous: Here you go, and thanks for the compliment.

Guest (Jan 25th): Wait and see for yourself.

Vincent: You'll have to wait and see for those two to interact.

danifan3000: 1. Absolutely. Especially since Dani being a bum didn't appeal to me in the show. 2. It's not just Danny's secret that Valerie will be let in on, and she won't be alone in that matter. Star will be let in on Danny's secret and the existence of mutants as well. Also, Ray just calls her a brat, which gets him kicked in the shin or his foot stomped on by Dani. 3. You'll see what I have in mind soon.

Dragonrule: You'll see how that will happen.

Guest #2 (Jan 25th): Hope this chapter will show how the battle will turn out.

KevinAguirre8481: It's mileage. I know, even I was confused about Rogue's southern accent at first.

NiteOwl18: Yes and thank you for the compliment.

Jebest4781: Thank you.

pokemon fan 1991: Glad you like this adaption.

Fiction Realm: You'll see how Vlad will be defeated before he joins forces with Magneto.

YuukiHiro98: Well, since this story is a crossover, I had to make major changes, including cutting out parts from the original episode, just to have it adapt with X-Men: Evolution.
