Holiday Combat

It was the time of the year; the holiday season. Snow fell all over the state of New York, and perhaps every part of the Eastern seaboard, except for Florida. Stores were decorated with a variety of Christmas decorations, people were buying Christmas trees to decorate at home, and shoppers were purchasing gifts at the last minute before closing for Christmas

At Bayville Mall, a certain human goth girl was in the complex, doing last-minute shopping of her own before she saw Mikey.

"Merry Christmas, Mikey." Sam says.

Terror struck the nerd completely as he shouted while fleeing from Sam.

"You're being cheery...AGAIN?! It's a trap! IT'S A TRAP!"

Sam had a weirded out look before she shrugged and moved on. However, when she saw another shopper at the mall, she instantly shouts

"Have a kickin' Kwanzaa!"

The shopper sent her an unnerved look before moving on. In a different area, Valerie stared with a blank expression as she thought to herself.

"Is she like this every year?"

Suddenly, she heard an annoying whiner's voice.

"Valerie?!"

"Oh, crud!"

Valerie dives to take cover before Nathan shows up, carrying a few comically large Christmas gifts.

"Where are you?!" he whines. "It's the most wonderful time of the year! Why won't you say yes?!"

Valerie sweatdropped as she stayed hidden until Nathan ran off in his vain attempt to search for her. Once she peeked to see that he was gone, the African girl booked it to get out of the mall before Nathan was able to see her.

Meanwhile, in Manhattan, there was a fire in an apartment building as the news coverage reported that a disabled woman is still trapped, despite firefighters making unsuccessful attempts to rescue her. There was one man named Warren Worthington III who saw the news coverage at a building with the name Worthington as its neon sign. However, no one knew that he was a mutant who had feathered wings, granting him the ability to fly. He takes to the skies to get to the building that was still ablaze.

At said building, firefighters tried numerously to rescue the disabled woman trapped inside, while on the ground, a few were restraining a young woman from going inside the danger zone as she begged to let her go and save her mother.

They were unaware that on the floor where the woman was trapped, there was an open window, and the angel-like mutant was there before he entered the burning building, picked her up, and got her out. The elder woman regained consciousness as she gasped to see that she was out of the building and above the ground before looking to her savior. He noticed that she was awake as he smiled at her before she smiled back in relief.

As the woman's daughter cried, she didn't know that her mother was placed on a bench nearby by the angel before he flew off. Then, after walking towards it, the daughter noticed and was glad that her mother was out of the building and safe.

"Jamie!" she calls.

The woman named Jamie hugs her mother and tearfully asks.

"How did you get out?"

"An angel, honey." her mother responds as they look up in the sky. "A real angel with wings."

At the Xavier Institute, the building was buzzing with activity as everyone was either socializing or exchanging gifts prematurely. Even Danielle was lounging around, chugging her hot chocolate before being scolded by Maddie to take it easy.

At the couches, Jean was watching Kitty, Amara, and Jubilee opening their gifts, as the brunette said.

"It's beautiful. Thank you, Jean."

"You're welcome." Jean said in response.

"How cute. Thank you so much!" Jubilee said in gratitude.

Even Amara was appreciative as she said to the redhead

"You're so sweet."

They didn't know that Kurt was right behind the couch before holding a mistletoe above Kitty's head as Amara and Jubilee giggled upon noticing. Then, Kitty noticed before she tried to swat it away.

"Kurt! In your dreams!"

"All in the holiday spirit!" Kurt playfully said before making kissing sounds.

"Kurt! Knock it off! Ew."

Soon, Kurt starts to chase Kitty as the former keeps begging for one kiss under the mistletoe. Once they pass Professor Xavier and Logan, who was making himself some coffee, the telepath comments heartedly

"Ah, to be young again."

"Yeah. Glad that's over." Logan said in response.

"You know Logan, you're welcome to spend the holidays here with us." Xavier offers.

Logan hesitated as he said.

"Uh, thanks. But I got some... important things to catch up on."

While the burly Canadian drank a sip of his coffee, Rogue had a Christmas gift in her hands as she looked around while dodging Kitty being chased by Kurt.

"Have ya seen Danny anywhere?" she asks Scott.

"No, I haven't seen him for 2 hours now." Scott said in response.

Rogue cupped her chin before she glanced at Jazz, who was placing an ornament on the Christmas tree and walked to her.

"Jazz? Have ya seen Danny?" she asks.

Knowing the whereabouts of her brother, Jazz said to her.

"He left earlier today, but he'll be back later."

Jazz noticed Rogue raising an eyebrow and said.

"Danny's not really fond of Christmas."

"Why?" Rogue asks in curiosity.

"Our fault, I'm afraid."

Rogue turns to Maddie, who said that and noticed the look of regret on her as the Fenton woman continued.

"You see, Jack and I used to argue over the existence of Santa Clause every year since he was a baby." Maddie lets out a regretful sigh. "It ruined the holidays for him as a result."

Rogue leaned in and whispered to Jazz

"Why do Ah get the feelin' that there's more to it than that?"

Jazz shrugged before Rogue decided to find him and get him back to the Institute.

"Ah bettah bundle up and fahnd him."

"Hold on." Jack said.

Rogue looks to see Jack hand her the Fenton Finder as he said.

"You're gonna need this."

After nodding, Rogue goes upstairs to place the package in her room before putting on some winter clothes and head out the door to find Danny, even ignoring the fact that Kurt accidentally kissed Bobby under the mistletoe when Kitty dodged him at the last possible moment before both boys shrieked and coughed as if they swallowed poison while the other kids laughed.

Following the device, Rogue walked pretty far from the Institute before she finally found Danny at the park, sitting on a bench alone. She turns off and pockets the device before approaching him as her footsteps in the snow alert him of her presence as he turns around to see her behind him.

"Sugah?"

"Hey Rogue." he greets, completely down.

She takes a seat next to him as Rogue says.

"Ah heard from your folks that you're not really into the holidays. Is that true?"

"Yeah." Danny looks away from Rogue. "15 years of having parents arguing over Santa's existence, destroying a ghost's Christmas poem and being cursed to live it out to realize what being a jerk on Christmas means, can do that to you."

Rogue felt sorry about Danny's past misfortune. She held his hand as she said.

"Hey. At least ya learned from that mistake. Plus, Ah saw that they ain't doin' it no more."

Danny nods in response as he said.

"The only good thing about it is that the ghosts don't cause any trouble during the holidays."

Rogue rose an eyebrow as she asked.

"Say what?"

"Found out about it last year." Danny replies. "Apparently, they have an annual holiday truce every year." he smiled. "And don't get me started on how cheery Sam gets during the holidays."

Rogue was dumbstruck as she said.

"Ah don't know what's more shocking; the ghosts obeying a peace treaty or your friend's annual attitude change?"

Danny shrugged with a chuckle as his depressed mood dissipated before he smiled and said.

"Thanks, Rogue. I needed that."

Rogue smiled in response before she heard him say

"So, want to head back to the Institute? I have a gift for you waiting."

"Aww." Rogue said, completely touched. "Ya didn't have ta do that."

Right when Rogue leaned in to kiss Danny, some snow was playfully smashed in her face before she looked at him and saw the boy chuckling. After a pout, she smirked before scooping up some snow into her hand

"You're so gonna get it."

Rogue returned fire as she playfully smashed some snow in Danny's face. The ghost boy splashed some snow at her in response before both teens quickly got up and chased each other. The silence of the park was broken by the sounds of laughter and shrieks as boyfriend and girlfriend had a playful snowball fight for several minutes. Once Rogue accidentally ran into Danny's arms, they both smiled at each other lovingly before the ghost boy scooped up his girlfriend, bridal style while transforming before they take to the air to return to the Institute.

However, none of them noticed that they were being watched by a white-haired man at a distance.

The two make it back to the Institute. After retrieving the package from her room, Rogue followed Danny to his room and left the door partially open. After taking a seat on the side of the bed, the ghost boy was the first to open his gift that Rogue gave him. Using care, Danny opens the package to find a black leather jacket.

"Wow!" Danny said with impression.

Rogue smiled as she said.

"Ah'm glad ya lahke it."

"I do."

Upon hearing Danny chuckle, Rogue asks.

"What?"

"I can already picture Sam ranting about the number of cows being killed to make this when she sees me wear it." he says.

Rogue playfully rolled her eyes before she asked.

"She would, eh?"

Danny nods before he asks.

"So, ready for your gift?"

"One sec. Ah wanna see how ya look in it." Rogue said with a little excitement.

Shortly, Danny tries on the jacket as Rogue assists him in putting it on. She steps back and admires how he looked in it.

"Nahce!" she says with an approval nod.

Then, Danny walks to his dresser, opens the top drawer, and pulls out a rectangular silver box as Rogue becomes awestruck at the sight of it.

"It took me a while, but I think I found something that you will like." Danny comments.

Rogue's curiosity hit its peak as she slowly removes the lid to see a beaded necklace made a green stone; a certain stone that the mutant goth girl recognized.

"How did ya know Ah lahke malachite?" she asks.

"I didn't." Danny replies. "I just took a guess."

After Rogue puts it on with Danny's help, she looks at her reflection in the mirror of Danny's dresser as she sees the accessory around her neck.

"It's beautiful." she comments.

Through the reflection of the mirror, Rogue sees Danny smile appreciatively, knowing that he got the right gift for her.

The next day, almost all of the students of the Xavier Institute got onboard a few cars and of course, the Fenton Family Assault Vehicle as Ororo, Jack, and Maddie offered to escort them to the airport. The only ones who stayed behind were Scott, Rogue, Jazz, Danny, and Danielle.

In one of the vehicles, Jean casts a loving look at Scott. Ever since she started to spend more time with him, her feelings were developing into a genuine infatuation. She even asked Danny to secretly place her gift in Scott's room, which the ghost boy granted.

As the vehicles began to drive off, the group of five who stayed behind waved to the others a farewell before entering the building. With Scott, he entered his room to see a package neatly placed at the foot of his bed; a package that was from Jean as it stated on the tag as he picked it up.

"What is this?"

At Central Park, Warren was reading a paper from the Daily Bugle as the front page reads Apartment Fire: Woman Claims An Angel Saved Her Life with the article of said news. After a minute, Warren gets up from the bench he sat on and tossed the paper into the trash can nearby. He glanced at a snow-covered fountain with an angel on top of it before he heard commotion.

Turning to the source, Warren witnesses a man being robbed as the thief makes off with the stolen briefcase. Removing his trench coat, Warren takes to the skies to pursue the thief while the other man whom the thief robbed pursued him as well. When the man tripped, he looked up to see Warren, mistaking him for a real angel while the thug thought he was in the clear.

But he was wrong.

Warren swooped in and carried the thug up into the air by his sweater as the thug begged to be released. Once Warren hung the thief at the top of the flagpole, he took the briefcase from him as the thug begged not to be left behind and even promising to go on the straight and narrow among other promises.

Meanwhile, the man who was robbed before was reporting to a horse-riding police officer of the incident and even stated that he saw a real angel. Suddenly, the briefcase falls between them as they both look up to see in shock and awe to see Warren, and both believe he was an angel.

In an area where Warren dropped his trench coat, he landed onto the ground before putting the coat back on to conceal his wings and walked away.

However, despite looking around before putting on the clothing article when he thought he was alone, he truly wasn't.

At a far distance, the same white-haired man who saw Danny and Rogue was watching him with intent.

The media was a buzz about the angel sightings all over Manhattan as witnesses made their comments and statements. Practically everyone in the entire New York state was curious about the claims of the witnesses. Some said that there was a real angel, while others believed it was UFO sighting.

At the Institute, Professor Xavier was reading the newspaper on the article as Hank was playing chess with Jack as Maddie was in the kitchen cooking up a dinner for later, while Jazz, Danielle, Danny, Scott, and Rogue lounged around in the living room with the other adults.

"Be not forgetful to entertain strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." Hank quotes.

Professor Xavier puts the paper down as he asks.

"Shakespeare?"

"Bible." Hank replies as he makes a move on the chessboard.

"Indeed." Jack replies with impression

"Though, this angel is not of the heavenly variety." Xavier said.

Scott glanced at the professor as he asked.

"What, you think he's some kind of demon?"

"Yeah, rahght." Rogue said after a scoff.

"There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." Hank quotes as he watched Jack make his move.

"Now that's a Shakespearean quote." Danny said with impression.

"More specifically, Hamlet." Jazz adds.

Rogue had an impressive smile for both Danny and Jazz before they all heard Professor Xavier say to them.

"I'm saying that the Cerebro has picked him up as a mutant. However, it couldn't get a clear reading on him. Not only do I fear that his activities may alert the public to the existence of mutants, but with Magneto still out there somewhere, he'll do something drastic, I am sure."

The telepath's words hit everyone hard, but Danny was hit the hardest. After mulling it over, the ghost boy asks.

"Professor? May I take a look at the paper?"

"Is there something you know, Daniel?" Xavier asks as he hands over the newspaper.

After a few minutes of reading the news article, Danny realized the possibility would be from an encounter.

"This Magneto guy; I think he plans to frame this angel somehow." Danny said. "Like what Walker did to me last year."

"Walker?" Scott asks in curiosity.

"Anothah ghost enemy of yours?" Rogue asks, equally curious.

"Yeah. Walker's the warden of a prison in the Ghost Zone and the one who framed me last year in Amity Park." Danny said. "Long story, but anyways, since this Angel is portrayed as a hero, Magneto will most likely frame him and make everyone think he's a villain."

"Perhaps you three should go and try to recruit him." Professor Xavier suggests.

"Sure." Rogue said. "Ah'm goin' nuts just sittin' around here."

"Hank? Can you compile a list of all the angel sightings with the witnesses, addresses, that sort of thing?" Professor Xavier asks. "It should give these three a place to start looking."

"It's gonna be a long walk from here." Scott comments.

"Not exactly." Danny said before he turned to Jack. "Dad? Could we borrow the Specter Speeder?"

"Sure thing, son." Jack said before tossing the keys to Danny.

Using the Specter Speeder, Danny, Scott, and Rogue, with the ghost boy piloting the vehicle, arrive in Manhattan before landing the vehicle in an abandoned area and activated the cloaking device to keep it hidden before beginning their search.

They walked about the city, asking around for any sort of clue that would lead them. Apparently, it turned into a wild goose chase for the trio. It was the afternoon as Scott, Danny, and Rogue stopped at a café to get something to eat. They believe that finding the angel would be a slim chance, but they had hope; hope to succeed in their mission.

At the Brooklyn Bridge, the same man with white hair was at the top of the platforms. He sees Warren flying around before he glances down at the cars and trucks that are driving by. Holding out his hand, he caused a truck to spin around as the driver lost control and hit another car in the rear. Soon, the single crash turned into a multiple vehicle accident.

There was one SUV that was hanging by the suspension cables of the bridge, near the brink of falling into the river below. Thankfully, the back window was open as Warren flew in and saw the little girl in the backseat of the car while the cables started to break

"I've got you, honey." Warren grabs a hold of the girl. "Give me your hand."

The winged man gets the girl to safety before returning to rescue her parents. When the car door was opened, the last cable finally broke as the vehicle fell into the river and sank into the deep water. Thankfully, Warren got the girl's parents out in time.

Once Warren got them to safety, crowds of people surround him, praising and giving him compliments. However, the white-haired man responsible for causing the accident had other ideas.

With a subtle hand gesture, he caused a broken to wrap around Warren's leg as he struggled to get it loose. Unfortunately, the child got too close as a twitch of his wings accidentally pushed off the bridge.

Warren swoops in to try and catch her. However, they both plunge into the freezing water of the river. Warren and the child make it to the surface of the river. However, the winged man struggled to get aloft and take her back to the bridge. Finally, after a few minutes of struggling, Warren become airborne.

Once the child was returned to her parents, the white-haired man, who in reality was Magneto, approached the crowd as he said.

"It's his fault! He pushed the girl into the river!"

It was enough to cause the crowd to turn against Warren. He had.no choice but to flee the area as sirens were approaching. From the ground below the bridge, Magneto watched from a distance.

Later, at the hospital, Danny, Scott, and Rogue were at the desk. Apparently, the trio heard talk at a nearby music store that the most recent angel sighting was at the Brooklyn Bridge. They also heard that a girl named Hailey was accidentally pushed into the river.

What they didn't know that Warren was already there. He snuck in through the window of Hailey's hospital room to check on her. When he heard one of the nurses approaching, he hid himself before taking a spare doctor's coat and snuck away.

At the desk, Rogue asked the doctor in charge

"Do ya know where weh can reach them? It's very important."

"I believe they said something about praying at the church." the doctor said.

All the while, Danny was subtly seeing a doctor departing. However, his movements made the ghost boy suspicious. Suddenly, he sees a feather fall from the inside of the coat as he realized that they have found who they are looking for.

"Guys! It's him!" he shouts.

Warren flees upon being spotted as the teen trio chased him down while Scott tried to reason with him that they only wanted to talk. After using a hospital bed as an obstacle to slow them down, Warren removes the coat, opens the window, and flies off.

Danny, Scott, and Rogue could only watch.

At the church, Hailey's parents were there, but they were not alone. In the upper level, Warren was there, too. Just like they were, Warren was praying as well while he was down on one knee. Suddenly, he felt a presence behind him before turning around in shock to see Magneto face to face.

"Who are you?" he asks.

"Someone like you." Magneto said in response.

"What do you mean?" Warren asks, completely afraid and confused.

"Someone who used to be confused about what he become." Magneto simply said as he levitates towards Warren, who was backing away.

Magneto continues to talk.

"Someone living in fear and self-pity; wondering whether he's been cursed or blessed."

Warren didn't trust Magneto as he said.

"Listen, I don't know what you're selling, but I'm not buying."

When Warren turns around to walk away, Magneto asks.

"Do you realize what a wonderful gift you have? You can fly. You can do what everyone else dreams about, and yet you live alone, hiding in shame. It needn't be so."

Warren faces Magneto as he said.

"I'm learning to deal with it."

"You think that by helping a few pathetic people, they will learn to accept you?" Magneto asks. "You saw how quickly they turned on you today. Do you want to live in fear for the rest of your life?"

"No, but..."

"There are others like us, Warren." Magneto interrupts. "I wamt you to meet them."

"What, some sort of club for weirdos and freaks?" Warren asks. "I don't think so."

When Warren walks away from Magneto, the magnetic master manipulates a metal candle holder to stop Warren's departure. The winged mutant ducked to dodge the metal object.

"What is this?!" he demands.

"This could've been easy." Magneto states. "Regrettably, you've chosen to make it hard."

When Warren tried to flee, Magneto used his powers to break the chain of a chandelier and wrap it around Warren while Hailey's parents watched from below before they escaped.

With Warren bound by the chains, Magneto would've abducted him if not for Cyclops's optic blast, sending the master of magnetism through the rose window of the church.

Scott and Rogue arrive as did Danny, all in their uniforms. Rogue gasped in fright as she saw Warren fall.

"I got him!"

Danny flew in and turned the winged mutant intangible as both floated in the air while the chandelier fell to the floor. Then, Danny lands with Warren on the floor safely.

"You okay?" Scott asks.

Then, Danny asks Rogue.

"That guy Scott blasted, was that Magneto who the professor talked about?"

"Yeah." Rogue replied. "And now weh know he's still in business."

Right when Warren was about to ask who they were, Magneto returned to confront them.

"You fools!"

He uses his magnetic powers to manipulate all metal objects

"Have you learned nothing?!"

The quartet spread out as Magneto used the objects as projectiles against them. Danny used his intangibility to get in close enough. Once he suddenly appeared in front of Magneto, the master of magnetism was startled as the makeshift projectiles stopped moving and remained suspended from the floor.

"Hey, buckethead! Haven't you heard of peace on Earth," Danny charged up his fists. "And good will toward men?!"

Danny fired his ghost ray, knocking Magneto into a wall before falling as the metal objects fell to the floor. While the ghost boy landed, his opponent got up with a groan as he said.

"So, we meet at last."

Danny rose an eyebrow in confusion.

"You know who I am?"

"Of course." Magneto replies as he levitates up into the air. "Since you've revealed yourself to Charles after your arrival to Bayville."

Danny flies up to look at Magneto in the eye as he asks.

"So what's the deal with you hating humans?"

"The people in this world fear what they don't understand; treat those who are different as outcasts." Magneto darkly replied. "I've heard tell that you were once treated as a threat in another city and hunted until these pathetic humans were swayed by your heroism against these ghosts that have been appearing in Bayville as of late.

Scott and Rogue also listened as they glanced at one another.

"What makes you believe that humans will accept what you truly are?" Magneto questions. "You have this incredible power given to you; not by mutation, but by other means. Yet, you allow it to go to waste by saving pathetic lives."

Magneto sees Danny raise an eyebrow as he continues.

"Mark my words, boy. All humans will turn on you once the truth is revealed. I have doubts that this farfetched acceptance of your family will last." Magneto holds out his hand. "Join me, and I will help you realize your true power and potential. Just imagine you becoming a god alongside my people because that's what we truly are, compared to them."

Danny glares at Magneto, not liking his speech one bit.

"Humanity knows that their time will come to an end, and we'll replace them as the dominant species on this planet. With that in their minds, they fear us. Don't remain in the delusion that you're a hero, a champion for them. You have great power, so use it."

Scott whispered to Rogue in disbelief.

"He can't be serious."

Danny rolled his eyes as he said.

"Okay, first of all, George Lucas oughta sue you for ripping off Darth Sidious terribly. Secondly, you're just as much of a fruitloop as this cheesehead that I know of; the only difference is that you don't have an unhealthy obsession with my mom, and finally, fat chance!"

Magneto lowers his hand as he says with a glare.

"I see. Then we've regrettably reached an impasse."

With a wave of his hands, Magneto levitates some steel rods, forming a wall before they attempt to crush Danny from either side. However, the ghost boy simply passed through them as if they weren't there to begin with.

"Interesting..." Magneto comments with surprise.

"You don't know the half of it." Danny quips.

Once Danny turns invisible, Magneto looks around to try and find him. Suddenly, a ghost ray hits him from the back as Danny reappeared, slamming him into a wall.

"Impudent child!" Magneto grimaced.

Danny raised an energy shield in time to deflect several metal objects before Angel grabbed a hold of Magneto as Danny shouts to Scott.

"Scott! Double whammy?!"

"You're on!" Scott replies.

Scott gets in position from below while Danny repositions from above as the former shouts.

"Angel! Let him go!"

Once Warren released his hold, Magneto gets shot from the front by Scott's optic blast and from behind by Danny's ghost ray simultaneously. The double impact caused the master of magnetism to fall to the floor once more. Suddenly, Rogue takes off her glove and gets near Magneto before she touches his face through the opening of his helmet and drains him.

However, Magneto stops her and kicks her off of him. He gets up, feeling a bit dizzy before he gasped at what he saw next. Rogue's eyes adopt the same glow as Magneto's when he uses his powers. Magneto flees with Rogue in hot pursuit.

"Danny!" Scott shouts.

"I'll follow them through the air!" Danny replies before flying in the same direction.

In the city skies, Rogue was still pursuing Magneto using the powers she drained from him and acquired. After passing several buildings, Magneto uses his powers to rip off several air conditioning units to try and slow her down. While Rogue was able to destroy a few, the rest were shot down by ghost rays, courtesy of Danny.

"What are you doin' here?!" Rogue demands with worry.

"Giving you backup, that's what!" her boyfriend replies.

Rogue nodded in gratitude before she and Danny pursued Magneto as the chase took them all the way to the Chrysler Building. Danny went around to cut off Magneto's escape while Rogue continued to pursue him. Both teens hoped to catch him by surprise. However, they ended up almost running into one another as they were surprised.

"Where'd he go?!" Danny asks in shock.

"Ah..." Rogue paused as she looked around. "Ah don't know."

As the two looked around to find him, they didn't realize that Magneto was right above them until he silently approached Rogue from behind. With a grunt, Magneto manipulates the magnetic field Rogue was using to fling her across the city. Danny was instantly alert as she let out a shocked cry.

"Rogue!"

Using his flight speed at maximum, Danny flies in haste and catches her in time before the goth collided into another skyscraper. Taking this opportunity as a distraction, Magneto uses his powers to rip one of the eagle statues from the building and launches it like a missile at the teens.

"Are you okay?" Danny asks with worry.

"Yeah." Rogue said after taking a deep breath. "Ah'm okay."

When Rogue saw the eagle statue coming their way, she gasped before Danny saw it, too. He turns them intangible as the projectile sailed through them harmlessly before it hits the skyscraper behind them, causing heavy damage to the SE neon sign.

After turning tangible, Danny swoops down to place Rogue onto the sidewalk.

"I'll be back."

Danny flies off once more as the wind gust gently blew through Rogue's hair as she looks up at him admirably.

With Magneto, he was about to flee when Danny suddenly reappeared with a look of anger in his eyes, making him stop.

"Messing with me is one thing." Danny said before he cracked his knuckles. "But messing with my girl, you've crossed the line!"

Danny delivered a punch to Magneto's head despite the helmet absorbing most of the impact. The master of magnetism staggered backward while remaining airborne. Suddenly, Danny was right behind his opponent and fired a ghost ray from the back. Magneto was having a hard time trying to defend himself from Danny's assault as his attacks made serious dents in his armor. In addition, there were no metal objects close enough in his vicinity to use as a shield as the ghost boy unleashed his fury.

Danny got in front of Magneto once more before he fired his ghost ray to knock off the helmet his opponent wore. With a quick shot, the ghost boy sent another ghost ray, destroying it. The master of magnetism was shocked to see that move. It seemed that Charles had told the boy much; too much to know that his helmet was his true defense. With his cape shredded and his armor severely damaged, all the boy had to do was transform, telepathically call for help, and if using the Cerebro, Xavier would find Magneto's mind completely exposed.

He grimaced at Danny as the boy quips.

"Guess that armor was more for fashion than protection." Danny glares at Magneto. "Now beat it, and call it a day!"

"Mark my words, boy. This isn't over." Magneto warns as he backs away. "It is only the beginning."

Magneto flees the area while Danny watched his every move until he was no longer in sight. Then, the ghost boy returns to his friend and girlfriend, who are waiting for him with Warren.

At the hospital, Danny, Scott, Rogue, and Warren were waiting in the lobby, as Warren said to them.

"I hope she'll be okay." he turns to Scott. "I didn't mean to..."

"No need to explain." Scott said with a hand up. "From what we've heard, a lot of people owe you their lives."

"Besides, I won't be surprised if it was buckethead who framed you." Danny adds.

Warren ran his hands down in frustration before he said

"This Xavier Institute, what makes it any different than Magneto's pitch? I mean, it seems like everybody wants me to join their organization or something."

"No, it's not like that at all." Scott said. "Believe me, we're nothing like Magento."

"Yeah. He's on a total powah trip." Rogue adds. "We're all just tryin' ta fit in and make good use in our abilities."

"But more importantly, we're learning to be careful because most people aren't ready to deal with us, yet." Danny said.

Warren sighed before he said in response

"Yeah, tell me about it."

"With Magneto still out there, you should lay low for a while." Scott said. "Just come with us and check out Professor Xavier. Check out what we do and see what you think."

Before another word could be said, they heard the doctor inform Hailey's parents that Hailey is awake and is going to be okay, much to their relief. Warren stands up to supposedly leave as did the trio.

"You think he'll join us?" Danny asks.

"No." Scott said.

"Well, hopefully, he will in the future." Danny said with hope.

However, Warren, Scott, Danny, and Rogue watched from the window of the hospital room as Hailey told her parents that she saw her angel again in her dreams.

The trio returned to the Institute in time for the dinner that Maddie prepared. After they all said grace, everyone, including Xavier and Hank, began to eat.

Well, most of them had table manners.

"Now, this is a feast!" Jack quips with enthusiasm as he devoured his dinner ravenously.

"What he said!" Danielle said with her mouthful as she too ate the way Jack did.

While Hank and Xavier found it amusing, in a way. Rogue glanced at Danny, who only shrugged nervously. Scott had a blank expression while Maddie and Jazz placed their utensils down and covered their faces with their hands in sync, completely embarrassed.

Later, after dessert was served and the table was cleared and the kitchen cleaned up, Scott was in his room as he remembered the package that was left behind in his room. When he discovered that it was from Jean, the boy carefully opened the package to find a hooded sweater that was just his size.

Scott smiled appreciatively as he looked up to the ceiling while thinking,

"Thank you, Jean."

In another area, Rogue was leading Danny to one part of the Institute that was away from prying eyes before they stopped.

"What is it, Rogue?" Danny asks.

"Look up." was all Rogue said.

Looking up, Danny sees the mistletoe hung by a string before he looks down to his girlfriend, who has a smile on her face. Before they knew it, the couple shared a kiss under the mistletoe as per tradition. Danielle was asleep in her room while Jazz, Maddie, and Jack were in the living room by the fire, enjoying their hot chocolate.

With Jean, she and her family were shopping at a Christmas tree lot to pick out the right tree to put up and decorate. However, the redhead felt it; a thought that caressed her mind. It was faint, but she knew who it was as she silently had a loving smile on her face while closing her eyes.

Kitty was with her family as she lit the candles on the menorah for Hanukkah.

With Ororo, she and her family were having a playful snowball fight that Evan started.

Kurt arrived at the airport in Germany before he saw his adopted parents, waiting for him.

As for Logan, the burly Canadian was in a tavern shooting pool elsewhere.

Meanwhile, in the Ghost Zone...

The Ghost Writer was alone in his prison cell, spending another Christmas year there as he looked at his novel on his lap. Then, the poet sees Walker through the cell bars before the ghostly warden holds up a familiar fruit with a sadistic grin.

"Orange?"

The Ghost Writer screamed as he clutched his book close to chest as he shrank back in sheer terror while shouting.

"Get that thing away from me!!"

And done! Before I post the next chapter, where Vlad arrives in Bayville, I'll create another spin-off for this story. Again, it'll focus on Danielle, but this time, she'll be officially adopted and begins her first day of middle school. Stay tuned.

DJ Rodriguez: It was Rogue who confronted Sam after school on her jealousy, and be sure to check your spelling because I've noticed that you spell it as Rouge, which happens to be a character from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

Vincent: I doubt it.

Jesse: Let me think. Uh... no.

Khy Dragon: When I get to the part of Phantom Planet, you'll see how I plan to make heavy changes in it, especially since this is a crossover.

YuukiHiro98: Glad you liked it.

pokemon fan 1991: Actually, the part of what a baby, I got that reference from Spongebob in the episode One Krab's Trash. Once the secrets get out, you'll see what schemes Paulina will enact to try and steal Danny away from Rogue.

Guest (Feb. 19) Glad you noticed.

Jebest4781: Thank you.

Yakuza2010: Danny's secret will be revealed along with the existence of mutants. When it does, you'll see how Paulina will react, what delusions she'll get, what schemes she'll enact, and how her rivalry with Rogue will start. Also, for Rogue's name, you'll see when she'll reveal it to Danny, and I'll use the name that was revealed in the comics.

danifan3000: 1. Interesting. I'll check it out when I have the chance. Though, I doubt that the incarnation of Kitty whom Danny is supposedly dating, is of X-Men: Evolution, and I'm clueless as to know which chapters of the events you have mentioned would come to pass.

2. Perhaps this chapter will give you a sort of insight that Danny won't be jealous of Warren being portrayed as a hero or supposedly stealing the spotlight.. Also, I didn't really have a knack for watching the abridged versions of a series. I'm just saying.

RandomAnonymous: Yes, Sam almost got clobbered by Rogue when the former involved Jean in their argument.

NiteOwl18: Yes, Paulina is under the delusion that Danny's ghost half is her soul mate, and I hope this chapter satisfies your expectations.

Fiction Realm: The song that I used the lyrics from is titled "As Above So Below" by Essenger and Cryoshell.
