A Game of Wits
It was the end of January. More specifically, it was the last day said month until February began.
"Hey!" Deadpool shouts in interruption. "Why didn't you wait for me?!"
"Because I didn't want to be delayed for the sake of the audience." guardian1989 drones in annoyance.
The merc cupped his chin as he said.
"Though, I do dig this crossover and the timeline you got going on, but why didn't you...?"
"Put in After Many Dates?" guardian1989 asks, finishing the question. "Because it's not based on either Neomark's or FP11's respective stories of TMDDF. Those two just inspired me to create my own crossovers."
"Oh, that explains a lot." Deadpool said, ignoring the author's sigh of annoyance. "And it explains why I haven't heard of you til now. I think I'm going to like visiting here."
"Yeah, and now..." guardian1989 pulls out his tranquilizer rifle and takes aim. "I want you out."
"Oh, come on!" Deadpool dramatically shouts. "Here too?!"
The author fires a dart at the merc's chest as Deadpool shouts.
"D'oh!"
After pulling out the dart, Deadpool gets woozy as he stumbles around towards a hole
"Seriously..." he stumbles closer to the hole. "Why... do... you... keep..."
Deadpool falls into the hole, again in a Looney Tunes manner as he plunges hundreds of feet into a moat with a splash before the floor closes.
"Sorry about that readers." the author said after clearing his throat. "Anyway, let's get back on track, shall we?"
In the suburbs, approximately ten miles away from Bayville, there was a mansion that was freshly completed. It wasn't as large as the Xavier Institute, but it was still massive nevertheless. A mixing truck departs from the driveway as a familiar, evil half-ghost descends with a sinister grin.
"At last, my new mansion is complete." Vlad boasts with glee.
Vlad turns intangible to enter his new home. First goes into his bedroom to check out the sheer size of it.
"Bigger and better than in Wisconsin."
Then, he enters the kitchen that greatly resembles that of a five-star restaurant, with all of the appliances being completely hi-tech.
"Everything is absolute state of the art."
Vlad enters a large laboratory of sorts underneath the floor.
"Including my new subterranean ghost lab, completely undetectable to prying eyes."
Vlad enters the library as he transforms into his human form while continuing to monologue and admiring an enormous portrait of himself.
"This showplace is the pure embodiment of me; larger than life, reeking of money and power and totally impenetrable."
As Vlad enters the living room, he cupped his chin as he said to himself.
"Now that I know that Daniel is here in Bayville, it'll be all the easier for me to...pay him a visit every once in a while."
Vlad remembers one simple detail in the matter as he cringed.
"Oh, butter biscuits, I forgot. I do not know where exactly Daniel resides." Vlad shrugs. "Oh well.
Vlad walks over to a picture of himself, Jack and Maddie; a picture that was taken in their college years. However, Jack's face was ripped from said picture, not that it bothered him.
"Perhaps Maddie or the fat buffoon will give me an insight into his whereabouts."
Vlad thought that his mansion was impenetrable, but he was wrong.
He didn't realize that Danny was in the same room with him, but he used his invisibility to be unseen as he heard what Vlad planned to do. Thankfully, Vlad was still unaware of the Xavier Institute due to his memories being previously altered by Jean. However, it was only a matter of time before his archenemy figured it out.
Silently, Danny leaves the mansion unnoticed as he flies away with one intention.
"I've got to warn them." he said to himself.
Tapping into his top speed of flight, Danny hurries back to the Institute to share the information he's learned with Professor Xavier, his parents, practically all of the adults, and his teammates.
Almost an hour passed since Danny returned to the Institute. Currently, he was Professor Xavier's office as he relayed the information to his family, his friends/teammates, Logan, Hank, Ororo, and the professor as well.
"Are you certain, Daniel?"
"Yes, Professor." Danny said. "Vlad's here in Bayville."
Danny's words made everyone worry. Now that his archenemy has officially relocated to Bayville, it would cause several problems. Not to mention, it also meant that keeping the existence of mutants under wraps will prove to be difficult.
"If he's aware of the Institute, he'll most likely..." Hank comments with worry.
"I wouldn't worry about that." Jean assures. "During the encounter with him, I altered his memories after Rogue gave him a beat down."
"Good. At least he won't be present here." Ororo comments.
As Logan nods in response to the white-haired woman's comment, Danny said.
"I don't know what he's up to, but I think it's best if I scope him out for a bit. Just so I will know what exactly he's planning."
Suddenly, Jack's cell phone rings as the Fenton man checked his caller ID. Much to his and everyone else's surprise, it was Vlad who was calling him.
"It's him." Maddie comments.
"Play it cool, dad." Danny said.
Jack answered the call as he said in his usual greeting.
"Vladdie, my man!"
"Jack, my fat old chum! How have you been?'
What Vlad didn't realize was that the phone was on speaker, so all who were present could hear the conversation silently.
"Doing well, V-Man. Doing well."
"Good to hear." Vlad said through the other line. "Say, I tried to visit you in Amity Park, but the new tenants told me you and your family moved to Bayville, I decided to settle there so we could see each other more often."
Maddie glanced at Professor Xavier as she said through her thoughts.
"We never sold Fenton Works to anyone."
"Clearly, he is already aware of your residency in Bayville through the news coverage of your son's previous activities." Professor Xavier said to her through his telepathy.
"Well, V-Man, if you want, we can meet somewhere public." Jack offers. "Erm... perhaps at a coffee shop that Maddie and I know of." Jack glances at Maddie, who nods in response. "What do you say?"
"Oh, goodie!" Vlad said with glee. "Just let me know what coffee shop it is, and I'll be there to meet you both."
"See you soon." Jack said before hanging up.
Danny took a deep breath as he mulled over a thought before saying to Maddie.
"Okay, now that Vlad will be meeting you and dad at a coffee shop, how will you get any intel on what he's up to?"
Logan stood up straight from leaning against a wall of the office before he said.
"I'll go with them, but I'll make sure to keep my distance."
"There is a coffee shop called Culture Espresso nearby." Scott comments. "I'm sure that in a public place, Vlad won't be able to cause trouble."
"Good call, bub." Logan said to Scott.
"Agreed." Professor Xavier said. "I'm certain that you all will obtain vital information, so we can be prepared for any possible schemes he'll enact."
At the Culture Espresso coffee shop, Jack and Maddie were inside, sitting at a table waiting patiently for Vlad to arrive. Logan was also there, at a distance, reading a newspaper while drinking his regular black coffee. The wait didn't take long. Through the door stepped in Vlad. Instantly, he saw Jack and Maddie at the table waiting for him.
What the billionaire half-ghost didn't realize was that a certain burly Canadian took a subtle glance at him and instantly recognized his scent. As much as he wanted to shred the sinister man with his adamantium claws for everything that he did, including using a certain kid to infiltrate the Institute, Logan kept calm as Vlad took his seat across his old friends.
"Vladdie, my man!" Jack greets.
"Jack, my old chum!" Vlad greets in faux etiquette. "And Maddie, how are you?"
"Eh, so far we're doing good." Jack casually said.
Vlad was completely unaware that both of his old friends now know the truth, but they've played clueless to throw off any suspicions.
And they were doing a great job on that.
"I'm surprised that you wanted to meet me here in this coffee shop." Vlad comments.
"Oh, we're just doing a little remodeling." Jack waved it off. "Didn't want you to breathe in any fiber glass or anything."
Vlad nodded as he said.
"Quite reasonable."
"So, V-Man, what made you decide to move here to Bayville?" Jack asks.
However, before Vlad could answer, Maddie frowns at him before subtly delivering a kick under the table to Vlad's shin, hard. The man yelped and howled in pain as he rapidly rubbed the affected area to soothe the pain.
" A valid question indeed." she comments.
"Steamed about something?" Vlad asks with a raised eyebrow.
Maddie leans in dangerously close, where Vlad was in firing range for the Fenton woman to throw a punch as she grimaced with subtle anger.
"You have no idea."
While Maddie walked away to purchase some coffee, Logan silently snorts a laughter. He knew what the Fenton woman did to Vlad due to his heightened sense of hearing, picking up the very sounds at a distance.
"Well, as I said before, I tried to visit you in Amity Park, but found out that you've reloacted to this city." Vlad explains.
Logan rolls his eyes, knowing that it is false as he continues to listen to Vlad's phony explanation.
"And so, I've decided to build my house in the suburds of Bayville so I can visit more often."
As Vlad kept lying through his teeth, Maddie returned with three cups of coffee before the man said
"Also, I saw on the paper; the very same one that gentleman is reading over there." he gestures to Logan without knowing who he is. "That the elections for the Bayville mayor's office are coming up."
That got Logan's attention as he did notice the elections on the front page. Still, the burly Canadian kept his cool and a low profile.
"So, I figured I should go into politics; do something for the benefit of this city." Vlad lied through his teeth.
"I see." Jack said. "Well, good luck to you, then."
Vlad nodded before he stood up.
"Well, I love to stay and chat for a little while longer, but I better get going." he says. "Got to prepare for the campaign. So long, chum."
Vlad turns to Maddie.
"And a farewell to you, Maddie."
In response, Maddie pours the hot liquid onto Vlad's head as he howled in pain once again and whimpered, "Not there." The man leaves the coffee shop with a frown while wiping his head and face clean with a handkerchief. As soon as Vlad's limousine drives away, Logan walks up to the Fentons before he said.
"We better tell Chuck about this, and maybe your boy might know what he's up to."
At the Institute, Danny and the rest of the adults, including the professor, were up to speed as Logan, Jack, and Maddie relayed the information.
"He intends to run for the mayor's office in Bayville?" Professor Xavier asks with worry. "Why would he be interested in politics so soon?"
"I know why." Danny said.
As the adults shift their attention to Danny, the ghost boy continued.
"He wants revenge on me and the others for sabotaging his lab and turning Danielle against him."
Danny looks at the newspaper on Professor Xavier's desk, more specifically, the advertised article Roberts for Mayor.
"Knowing the fruiloop, he'll use his ghost powers to make everyone vote for him by a landslide."
Suddenly, Danny gets an idea as he smirked.
"Unless, of course." he turns to his father. "Dad, did you, mom, and Mr. McCoy, finish those portable ghost shield generators?"
"Come to think of it, we have just finished those, Danny." Maddie said in response. "Why?"
"Because we're gonna need those sooner than we think." Danny said with a smirk.
Being a telepath, Professor Xavier picked up instantly on what Danny had in mind as he said.
"I believe we should all follow Daniel's lead."
Logan nodded in agreement as he asked.
"Okay, Spooky, what do ya have in mind?"
Later on, upon Ororo's telepathic call to view the news, all of the X-Men and the Fentons, even Sam and Tucker, arrived as they all were watching Vlad giving his speech as the man spoke.
"If elected, I hope to breathe new life into this town."
As crowds of supporters cheered for Vlad, Danny looks towards his friends and team.
"Okay, we'll have to use a stealth approach if we're going to stop, or at least stall him." Danny said. "So, here's the plan."
While the polling places remained empty, the X-Men, Sam, Tucker, Jazz, Danielle, and Danny spread out through the entire city as they all went to a designated polling spot. Each one of them had a portable ghost shield generator to plant as they carried out the task.
Flashback
"There's enough ghost shield generators, one for each polling place." Danny explained. "These will surely keep out Vlad so he can't cheat or use any underhanded tactics."
Sam picks up a circular device as she asks.
"How will these work exactly?"
"They're designed to keep ghosts out." Jack explained. "Also, when planted and activated, they also become cloaked to humans, but only ghosts and half-ghosts can see them."
"The shield these babies generate will be absolutely invisible to humans as well." Maddie comments. "So, even if Vlad overshadows someone, the victim won't be affected, but he will be in for a major shock." she grins on the last part.
"All you have to do is press the button in the center once you plant it." Hank instructs. "The machines will do the rest."
End of Flashback
In one polling place, Danny used his invisibility to plant his generator behind a polling desk before pressing the button. It turns on with a green light before a shield is raised and the device cloaks itself, but only he could see it.
The guards who were nearby didn't see or hear what was happening as Danny flew away silently.
Danielle did the same thing at another polling place in the city as she succeeded in planting the generator before hightailing out.
Scott snuck past several guards before planting his at a polling place and activated it before sneaking out unnoticed.
Jean used her telekinesis to plant hers at another polling place before and activates it before leaving.
Kitty phased through the walls of another before planting and activating hers.
Kurt teleports into another polling place in the heart of the city before he succeeds in his task before getting out.
Rogue found the polling place she got to unguarded as she quickly plants and activates her device before getting out.
Jazz flung a rock to distract the guards that were watching the polling place she was at before she did a quick in and out, successfully completing her task.
Sam waited until the guards had their backs turned before she snuck in, succeeds in planting and activating her device before leaving unnoticed.
Evan and Tucker succeeded in their tasks as they got their generators planted and activated before the entire team regouped at the Xavier Institute.
"I take it that you all have accomplished your task?" Professor Xavier asks.
"All of the ghost shield generators are online." Scott reports.
"The only thing left to do is hope that these will work." Ororo said with worry.
"Not to worry, Ororo." Maddie said. "They will most definitely work."
And Maddie was right.
As Danny anticipated, Vlad Plasmius began his move by overshadowing the first person who planned to cast his vote. However, when the individual passed a certain point, Vlad was suddenly hit with a painful electric shock that forced him out. While the citizen didn't feel anything, Vlad certainly did.
"What is the meaning of this?!"
Vlad tries to overshadow another individual, but the result is the same. The evil half-ghost got shocked again as he was once again forced out. Vlad rubbed his head as he asked no one in particular.
"How is that possible?"
Suddenly, Vlad sees a device that no one else did. He was confused at first, but then, as he got to a certain point, he felt the jolt once more. However, as more voters came to the polling place, he noticed that no one else was affected. It took him a minute to realize what was going on as he grimaced, now knowing who was responsible for an interference in his plans.
"Clever, Daniel. Using a ghost shield generator to keep me out. Well then, game on."
The next day, there was construction activity at an abandoned lot. All those who knew Vlad's true identity were curious about what he was planning this time. To everyone else, it was nothing out of the ordinary.
Except that there was a billboard like sign that said construction site of The Nasty Burger. All teenagers who native to Amity Park were excited that their favorite go-to spot was being built here.
Even Tucker was excited as he said.
"Awesome! Vlad's having The Nasty Burger built here in Bayville!"
Tucker's comment earned the African boy getting elbowed by Danny and Sam as he instantly changed his tune.
"I mean, whatever. He's probably going to poison the food anyway." he crossed his arms before smiling. "Still, I'm looking forward to seeing it finished."
Suddenly, Tucker gets smacked upside the back of his head by Rogue as he yelped.
"Ow!"
As Tucker rubbed his head to soothe the slight pain, Scott silently asks Danny.
"What do you suppose Vlad will gain from building this restaurant?"
"My best guess is that since Vlad now knows that he can't overshadow people to vote for him, his plan B will be bribing everyone from Amity Park." Danny explains. "Not to mention, all of Bayville, to vote for him."
"Like, any way to sabotage this one?" Kitty asks.
"No." Danny said. "Basically, most people think he's doing some good for the city."
Suddenly, Danny's ghost sense went off as nobody but his friends and sisters noticed. The ghost boy gets an idea as he said.
"But they won't see him defending their city from a ghost attack."
Danny silently runs to a hiding spot to transform into his Danny Phantom persona. All the while, a ghost, in the form of an enormous Komodo Dragon, suddenly appeared as it crawled through the streets, smashing everything it stepped on. Crowds of people, including the construction workers, fled for their lives in panic as the creature roared.
Suddenly, it sees Danny flying up to its eye level as his fists are clenched and charged with energy.
"Hey, scale belly! I've got something for you to chew on!"
Danny fires his ghost ray at the creature's head, the impact knocking it down to the ground. Thankfully, no buildings, vehicles, or civilians were in the way as the creature started to get up and fire a ghost ray of its own from the mouth. The ghost boy dodged it to avoid getting hit.
Meanwhile, in a safe area, Paulina watched the fight from a distance as she cheered.
"Get him, my ghost boy!"
Rogue and Sam shook their heads in annoyance as Scott whispered to Jean
"Okay, I don't know what's more disturbing, Vlad's obsession with Maddie or that girl's obsession with Danny's ghost half."
"I ask myself the same question." Jazz comments.
After a short but difficult tussle, Danny manages to subdue the ghost before sealing it into the Fenton Thermos. Crowds cheered for the young half-ghost as he flew off while turning invisible. However, they paid no attention to the other teens, who knew where to converge with Danny, take off from the area to meet him.
Back at the Institute, the entire Institute was watching the news of Danny in his ghost form dealing with the ghost as civilians cheered while the reporter states.
"It was thanks to the efforts of Danny Phantom that Bayville only endured very minimal damage from the most revent ghost attack. In other news, the number of votes for either candidate is tied at the moment. More at 6.
"What do ya thank he'll do this tahme?" Rogue asks.
"If I know the fruitloop, which I do, he'll most likely try to upstage me by hiring ghost hunters or do it himself, just so the public will think he's a hero." Danny states.
Meanwhile, in his mansion, Vlad growled in anger as he watched the news as well. It was bad enough that his archenemy interfered in his plan to win the election by a landslide, but now the news coverage was not only covering Danny's heroics, but the voting polls showed that he and his politcial opponent are tied up in votes.
Transforming into his alter ego, Vlad fires a ghost ray, reducing his television set to a heap of smoking scrap before he turns back to his human form.
"Okay, Daniel! You've interfered with my plans to win the elections for the last time!"
Vlad crossed his arms as he thought up a scheme before gaining a wicked smirk.
"So, if you want to ante up the stakes, I'll just have to see you and raise them even further."
With that, the evil half-ghost starts to formulate a new plan to upstage his archenemy due to the news coverage displaying his heroics on public television.
It was the weekend, just two more days until the tie breaker for the elections of the mayor's office could commence.
Danny was walking through the streets of Bayville as he looked around. Despite that it was quiet, the ghost boy was still suspicious of what his archenemy may be up to. In fact, he was certain that a ghost would usually attack right about now.
However, the silence didn't last for long as the ghost boy saw the very last individual he wanted to see; directly in front of the Gut Bomb entrance. Danny grimaced while Vlad just had a smug look before the boy walked up to him.
"Vlad." Danny grimaced in subtle anger
"Daniel." Vlad just casually said.
"So, mind telling me why you've decided to show your ugly face here?" Danny demands.
Vlad frowns at the boy's insult, as he says in response.
"If you want to know, Daniel, I'm here to run for the mayor's office. However, I do not know how you knew, but you've ruined my direct approach to an easy win."
It was Danny's turn to look smug as he said.
"Gosh, I guess it burns you when you look bad, doesn't it?"
Vlad grimaced in anger before he said.
"Mark my words, Daniel. You won't win this battle of wits. Once the tiebreaker starts on Monday, I'll secure my victory by showing this town who the hero really is."
"Looking forward to the final round, fruitloop." Danny said with a smug look.
"In any case, I bid you good day." Vlad said before walking off.
What Vlad didn't realize is that he just blurted out his subtle plan to win the mayor's office to Danny. With that kind of intel, the ghost boy waited until he was no longer in sight. Once he was in the clear, Danny transformed and flew back to the Institute to inform his family and friends on what he had just learned.
At the Institute, Danny was once again in the office with the adults, his friends, and teammates as the ghost boy shared vital information about Vlad's plan as everyone listened.
"So, he plans to upstage you, huh kid?" Logan asks.
"Yeah." Danny said in response. "The fruitloop will have something up his sleeve. I don't know what it is," he smirked as an idea instantly formed in his head. "but I can sabotage his plan and tarnish his rep in the process."
Then, Danny turns to Xavier as he asks.
"Professor, do you have a spare image inducer that Kurt uses?"
"Yes, but for what purpose?" Xavier asks, completely intrigued.
"Just to show the people the incompetence of the fruitloop's heroic efforts." Danny said with a smug look.
Soon, Professor Xavier took out spare image inducer watch and began to adjust the programming of the device in order for Danny to carry out his plan; one that could stop his archenemy's campaign to be elected for the mayor's office.
It was Monday, the day for the tiebreaker of the votes. Vlad arrived to oversee the construction progress of the Nasty Burger. The framework for said restaurant was nearly complete. The schools were still in session, despite the event of the elections.
School ended for the day. However, Danny and his friends didn't return to the Institute. Instead, they walked towards the construction site of The Nasty Burger with one goal, to sabotage whatever scheme Vlad was going to cook up. Also, Jack and Maddie arrive in the FFAV. As expected, there was a small number of news vans and reporters.
Despite seeing him there, Danny had an uneasy feeling that something was off, as his company noticed.
"What's wrong?" Jean asks.
"Vlad should've popped his scheme right about now." Danny said with worry.
Looking around, Danny decides to look further and see what he can find.
"I'll be back. I'm going to scout around and find out what the fruitloop is up to."
Danny takes cover to transform before turning invisible and took to the skies. The ghost boy didn't see anything out of the ordinary at first, but he was still sure that something was about to transpire.
"It's too quiet." he whispers to himself. "He said he was going to make himself look like a hero, but how?"
Suddenly, something catches Danny's eye. He sees a single duplicate of Vlad Plasmius hiding as if the duplicate was waiting for the signal before seeing Vlad Masters on the ground. Also, Danny sees a weapon holstered to Vlad's hip when he squints to get a clear view. It didn't take long for the ghost boy to deduce what his archenemy was scheming.
"So, that's how he's going to do it." Danny cracked his knuckles. "Well, guess it's time to spoil his fun."
Even though Danny was in ghost form, he remembers one little detail; he was wearing an image inducer that he plans to use when the time is right. In fact, his family and friends were fully aware of the plan that Danny had in mind.
Flashback
Professor Xavier finished programming one of the spare image inducers before he hands it to Danny. As the ghost boy was putting it on, the bald telepath explained.
"Daniel, I've just programmed the inducer to project a holographic illusion of you being seriously injured in a blast. It should be enough to convince civilians."
When Danny turned it on and looked at a mirror, the image he saw of himself in the reflection looked like he was covered in bruises, cuts, and his clothes looked like they have various rips on them.
Satisfied with what he saw, Danny turned off the inducer before he said.
"Yeah, but looking like I'm injured won't be enough. We'll need something else." he smirked as he looked to a few of his teammates and his parents. "Maybe a little acting can sway them."
Professor Xavier linked his fingers in thought before he said in understanding.
"I agree. Perhaps a little acting display will give the voters a reason to vote for Vlad's political opponent."
Everyone nodded their heads in agreement as Danny began to relay his plan.
End of Flashback
Danny closed in on the duplicate silently before he shot it with a ghost ray, sending it crashing towards one of the construction vehicles, leaving a massive dent upon impact. Everyone else noticed, as did Vlad. While everyone gasped, the evil half-ghost was shocked.
"This was not supposed to happen yet!" Vlad remembers that there are ceowds of people nearby as he changed his tune. "I mean, oh no! It's a clearly evil yet devilishly handsome, ghost villain! Whatever shall we do?!"
As everyone started to panic, the duplicate of Vlad confronted Danny with anger that matched that of the real Vlad Plasmius.
"I now know what the fruitloop is up to and that you're a duplicate." Danny grimaced.
"True that I'm a lone duplicate, but I am still more powerful than you'll ever hope to be." Plasmius said with a smug look
Plasmius fires a ghost ray, but Danny dodges it before delivering a punch square on the nose as the duplicate reeled back from the attack that it clearly never saw coming before the ghost boy counterattacks.
Down below, the real Vlad watched as his archenemy was getting the best of his duplicate as he thought
"Impossible! Daniel shouldn't be that strong!"
Jean caught what Vlad was thinking as she subtly smirked, knowing just how her friend had become stronger than before.
Back at the fight, Danny blocked several punches from Plasmius before launching several of his own, successfully landing them. All the while, the real Vlad could only growl in anger that his archenemy had once again ruined his plans. Then, growing tired of what was happening, Vlad pulled out his weapon and aimed it at the ghosts.
"Looks like I'll have to take matters into my own hands!"
The crowd watched Vlad aim his weapon as he shouted.
"Not so fast, fiends! There is a new protector in town!"
As if on cue, the duplicate becomes shocked as it begged.
"No, don't shoot!"
It descends and gets on its knees, begging to be spared. However, Danny sees that now is the time to enact his own plan. He turns intangible before he quickly overshadows the duplicate, gaining control. The duplicate's eyes glow green instead of red as it taunts.
"Go ahead! Do your worst!"
The duplicate flies around as Vlad tries to chase it down. Once it hovered at ground level, Vlad takes aim as he sees flying towards his parked limousine. What the man didn't realize was that it was what Danny wanted. Vlad takes a shot. The blast destroys the vehicle and the duplicate in the process.
In the cover of smoke, Danny transformed back and activated the image inducer, turning on the hologram. As the smoke started clearing, the X-Men, the Fentons, Sam, and Tucker took their cue to play along as everyone watched a seriously injured Danny stumble around as he groaned in pain.
"Wh...what just happened?"
The crowd gasped as Danny continued his act.
"I was...just minding my own... business when... boom!"
Once Danny collapsed, his friends and family rushed in with worry as Maddie shouted.
"Danny!"
As the Fenton woman cradled her son, who was merely playing possum, while his friends were asking if he was okay, Rogue glared at Vlad as she stormed to him angrily.
"What the hell is wrong with ya?!" she shouts.
Vlad was shocked as he said while he felt the glares of the crowd.
"What?! No!" he sees the citizens angrily staring at him, making him nervous. "I mean..."
"Ya nearly got mah boyfriend killed, ya jackass!" Rogue shouts.
Instantly, the crowd started booing and jeering at Vlad as the man tried to calm them down.
"Wait! You don't understand!"
Suddenly, the crowd started throwing debris and trash at Vlad, causing the man to flee with the citizens in hot pursuit. As soon as it started, it was quiet once more as Danny asked Jean through his mind.
"Are they gone?"
"Yes. They're gone."
Soon, Danny stood up before he deactivated the image inducer with a triumphant smile.
"Nice job, dude." Tucker comments.
"Looks like all of Danger Room training has paid off." Scott said as he placed a hand on Danny's shoulder.
"Hey. I can't take all of the credit." Danny said. "You guys did well on your part." he turns to Rogue. "And let's not forget our leading lady here."
As Rogue blushed slightly, Sam asked,
"Do you think Vlad will call it quits in politics?"
"I'm pretty sure he will now, since he has licked like an all-day sucker."
"Or not."
Despite the efforts, Vlad won the election for the mayor's office by just one vote. Currently, the news coverage shows the man making his speech as mayor elect.
"By popular decree as mayor elect, I will ensure that things will be kept the same in Bayville. However, construction for The Nasty Burger will proceed until its scheduled completion. Also, I wish to apologize for my recklessness, and I hope the innocent bystander makes a speedy recovery."
Once the TV was off, Jack said to Danny in assurance.
"You tried your best, son."
"Yeah, but the fruitloop knows that this war is not over by a long shot." Danny said.
"So what's the plan this time?" Danielle asks.
"For now, it's a stalemate." Danny said in response. "But Vlad will want a rematch soon." he slightly looks at one of the windows of the Institute.
"Yes, but I dread that with Vlad now in office, our efforts to keep the existence of mutants under wraps will be more difficult than before." Professor Xavier said as he mulled it over. "It's only a matter of time before he learns of the Institute."
"With that in mind, I'll need to find a way to expose him without exposing us." Danny said solemnly.
Danny approached the window as he looked outside, knowing that another battle would come, now that his archenemy is close to home and would enact a new scheme at any given moment.
With Vlad, he looks out the window of the mayor's office ominously with a malicious grin.
And done. Sorry I took long with this one. Had to make heavy changes so it would be different from the canon. Stay tunes for the next chapter where the teens have a Valentine's Day fun.
A soaking wet Deadpool enters the realm, as the author noticed.
"You made me this chapter again?!" Deadpool asks.
"Yes, because you're insufferable!" guardian1989 snapped. "I don't know how Neomark, FP11, or other authors tolerate you."
"Hey, at least I don't get shot by them." Deadpool said in response. "Or dropped into a moat."
"Because they can't seem to shut you up." guardian1989 droned in annoyance.
The author raised his hands to catch his tranquilizer rifle that dropped from the ceiling and takes aim.
"Dude, won't you run out of darts?" the merc with a mouth asks.
"No, the case of darts creates more to replace the ones I use on you." guardian1989 explained. "The same goes for 61394."
"WHAT?!" Deadpool shouts. "You gave number boy a tranq gun to shoot me with?!"
"Yeah. I figured he could use one." guardian1989 said with a shrug. "I got more built for Neo, FP, and any other author who finds you and any of your counterparts insufferable."
"Oh, so I get nothing from you, and they get whatever they want. I see how it is." the merc said in faux hurt.
"I wouldn't say that since you do get something from me."
"Really? What?" Deadpool asks.
"This..."
Guardian1989 fires the dart, but Deapool dodged it as he said in a sing-song tone
"Missed me! Missed me!"
But the merc with a mouth didn't know that projectile ricochets off the wall before it flies true to the target...
"Now you gotta...!"
Right in Deadpool's right butt cheek as the dart pierced him there and injected its payload while the merc shouts.
"D'oh!"
After pulling out the dart, Deadpool gets dizzy as he stumbles toward a waiting hole while he drowsily says.
"You're... an asshole."
The merc fell into the moat again before the hole closed when the splash was heard.
"Man, he's annoying. At least I have a way to shut him up." clears throat before facing forward. "I hope you all enjoyed the chapter, and I will update this crossover along with my new one titled The Ghost and the Witch. Till next time."
