Tsutomu Kurouri (P1) 29/05

You don't really mind the nickname Devil boy. You like Devils. The crazier, the more obscure the rumor about them, the more interesting they get.

Your uncle sometimes tells you about the ones he sees at Yarai-Ku in Hirasaki City, in between complaining about that Kuzunoha Devil Summoner, and the Psycho Divers who keep the public at large from talking about them.

Your grandmother is capable of calling fire and darkness, but all you can call on is a slip of ice. Not much, but sometimes just enough to send the bullies sliding past you as you run.

She laments that magic is fading from the world as technology takes over. She might be right, but you know magic is out there, and you look, while she talks about the secret history of Japan's zombie army.

You and Mariko Yabe have an unofficial Occult club. You are in different schools, but that doesn't stop you from collaborating on writing articles with the craziest information you both can find. The weirder the better, in your opinion.

Sometimes you talk to Eriko Kirishima about it too. Of course, you take care not to be seen publicly with her, as she is not the one the stalkers are going to go after in their jealousy if they catch you with her.

Maybe she understands, or maybe she doesn't want to be caught with him either, as she rarely protests the secrecy you meet her in.

It all changes with the demon invasion. Mariko takes a lot of photographs while you are stuck working out. You hate fitness. It's evil that they decided to punish you with it.

You make good use of her photographs after the invasion. Even though new demons are no longer appearing, that does not mean all of the former demons have all up and left. It takes time to clear them out, even for a mafia town.

And information is valuable. You have learned a lot about demons during the invasion, updating your notebook with revisions.

You use Mariko's photos, and your updated information to print info cards for the teams going out. Maps are created with demon activity grounds, and updated as the city falls back under human control. Maki and Mark give artistic illustrations for the demons Mariko has been unable to photograph. Mariko takes that as a challenge.

Tamaki shows up too, and corrects and makes additions to the notes. You invite her to the Occult club.

When phone lines get back up, you place a call to your Uncle, asking him to send Kuzunoha help. Uncle complains, but does put in a request.

Kyouji Kuzunoha comes to town the next day. No town has probably ever been happier to see him, if his reputation is anything to go by.

He's less of an ass in person than your Uncle made him out to be, but one of his companions -Takeshi- more than makes up for it.

Other Kuzunoha's follow him into town, and the process of reclaiming Mikage-Cho goes much faster.

They seem to be pretty interested in Tamaki, which is fair, as Tamaki knows her Demons and is athletic. Yuka's persona packs the punch that she lacks an ability to throw, for all she shreds with words. In contrast, Eriko can dish it out with a blade and magic, which seems to be qualities they look for in summoners. Tadashi hangs around as a hopeful too, but you don't feel Tadashi has what they are looking for.

You are not sure Tamaki can use magic, but she is fast with a sword, and a computer, which seems to be how a devil summoner calls demons these days.

Your Grandmother would be disappointed to hear how modern Devil Summoners call Demons. She always insisted that Devil Summoners stuck them in some kind of tube. Maybe they did once. Computers were not around in the Taisho Era… unless there were and COMPS were a secret Technology kept from the populace by the Kuzunoha's.

You need to remember to tell Mariko about this!

And maybe, when the town is demon free, or maybe mostly demon free -you wouldn't mind if some of them stuck around, in their own area in the city (Mikage-Cho is already a Mafia town, what's a few demons if not a way to liven up the city)- you can ask the Kuzunohas if you can study under them too.

Not as a Summoner, you don't think you have the Stamina or social skills for that. But to Study Demons. Maybe even to record the history of it as it is being made.

You like Devils. It's not something you ever really thought you could do anything with, before. You just sort of assumed you would end up as some sort of salary-man, with an occult hobby.

That you would be as bored in your job as you are in class, and just have to live with it.

But maybe, you will go to university. Study History, or maybe archaeology, and work for the Kuzunoha clan when you graduate. You could write a book even. It will be all about the secret history of the world.

Maybe Tamaki can help you with it, if the Kuzunoha's stay interested in her.

Its something to look forward to. And in the meantime, you can try to get a number.
