It took Wesley Wyndham-Price approximately 10 minutes to realize he had no idea how to find Cordelia Chase-Harris. Yes, he'd worked for a detective agency, but it had been a supernatural detective agency. One that used supernatural means to solve most cases. Cases that they got in one of two ways, Cordelia got a vision or a client with a supernatural problem walked into the agency looking for help. From there he would research the problem or the demon in the vision with his books of demon and supernatural knowledge. Angel, Gunn and he would visit contacts, many of whom were neutral demons, looking for leads. Occasionally a regular client would wander in, but those were few and far between. Cordelia would use the computer to check various websites. Problem was Wesley had no idea what websites, not to mention he wasn't sure any of their contacts were still around. He knew nothing of what was happening in the supernatural world right now. But he did have one possible hope of finding information through, while he knew little about the computers the library he worked in had, since all he did was check out books and direct patrons to where they could find what they were looking for, the Head Librarian did know about computers.

After explaining that he wanted to get in contact with an old friend he hadn't seen in over a year, but had no idea where she currently was to his boss, she showed him public access websites that enabled a person to find publicly available information, addresses, phone numbers, both of which appeared in the phone book and employment information. He started with Los Angeles because that's where he currently was and the last place he'd known she lived. A few Cordelia Chases, a few Cordelia Harris', a few Cordelia Chase-Harris'. None of the available information on any of them, age, date of birth, in some cases education and employment information was listed, matched what he knew about her, so he expanded his search to all of California and found the same thing, nothing that matched.

So he considered his options, he could do a state by state search but that would take a lot of time. And then he realized he knew the woman with Cordelia's face and name was an actress on a soap opera, if he could find information on the show, it might narrow down where he could search for Cordelia, so he looked up available information on the soap opera in question and got a very big surprise, the show was filmed in New York.

"What the Hell is she doing in New York?" He muttered and thought of a map of the United States and had a possible answer. It was on the other side of the country, far away from anyone that might know her personally. Was she hiding from all reminders of her old life? He tried looking her up in New York though and again found nothing that matched, so he checked the states around there, still nothing. He was getting very frustrated.

"Having a problem finding your friend?" His boss asked.

"Yes, nothing I've found on the people search websites matches her information. She works as an actress on a soap opera filmed in New York, but I checked New York and the neighboring states and can't find anything that matches her information."

"Well of course not, she's an actress." His boss looked at him like he was an idiot.

"I don't understand, why does that matter?"

"Do you know how many actors and actresses get harassed by crazy fans? Stalked even? It's the downside of being in acting, which is why their agents work to keep their personal information private. You're not going to find anything about her on any people search website, her agent would have taken steps to make sure nothing can be found on them."

"That's going to make it difficult for me to find her. I haven't seen her in a year and that was when she lived here in Los Angeles."

"You could write a letter to the studio where the show she's on is filmed at, fan letters get delivered to actors and actresses."

"I'll consider that, thank you." Knowing he wasn't going to do that, if Cordelia had moved to the other side of the country to avoid reminders of her past, a letter from someone from the past she was avoiding wouldn't be answered by her.

He needed another option. Lorne might be able to get a vision if he sang for him and Lorne would want to know what was going on with Cordelia too. The last thing Wesley had heard from Lorne was that he was heading for Las Vegas, so Wesley began checking advertisements for casinos and shows in Vegas and found him listed as the host/MC of acts at a casino. He impatiently waited for the weekend and then drove to Vegas to see another friend he hasn't seen in a year, hoping the two of them would be able to find a third friend not seen in a year.

A/N Some phone books did use to list more than just a name, address and phone number, some listed employment information as well. Phone books are virtually obsolete nowadays since you can just look up anything you want online and there are websites that will provide the same information. They're known as people search websites. Kinda creepy when you think about it. And yes, many were active in 2004, the year it currently is in this fic. Eleven months post Sunnydale crater/saved from the First which happened in May 2003.
