Love and Logic
Written for the Princess Bride Quote: "Love is many things, none of them logical."
Jareth stretched back into the loveseat we were both quite enjoyably occupying. "My step-mother hates it."
"I know. The human part alone would be enough, but I'm pretty sure she hasn't forgiven me for trouncing your Labyrinth when I was fifteen."
He smiled, his lips quirking up in that way that made me want to devour them. "Likely not."
I leaned my head against his shoulder. "But let me tell you: You think the Winter Court has opinions on suitable marriage alliances, just wait till you hear the Boston Brahmin's. I've been getting the early stages of Martyr Parent from Karen. I'm expecting a good fainting spell in public any day now."
"What exactly did you tell her about me?"
"It's more what she heard: you're not One Of Us. For a very narrow, Boston elite definition of Us."
"Well, to be fair, I probably wouldn't qualify even under broader definitions."
"True." I sighed, thinking of the coming histrionics. "The logical thing to do would be to call the whole thing off. Find people our families wouldn't figuratively declare war over."
His breath stilled for a moment. "Are you really considering it?"
"Oh, hell no. I love you utterly and completely, and anyone who has a problem with us can bite me."
He laughed and kissed my hair. "Mmmm. This utter and complete love, I might need a demonstration. Just for morale purposes, of course."
I began to nibble along his neck. "Of course."
