Philip Wittebane looked over his life's work. A colossal spell inscription made with the most potent materials in this forsaken realm. Philip let it all sink in then with but a touch at the edge it activated. The air began to cool as did the wind start to pick up. Before long frost began to form on the plants and the boiling sea itself began to freeze over.

Philip seeing that the realm was beginning to freeze over smiled before saying, "May the lord spare your souls, heretics." Philip then pulled out a key with a slit eye in it and pressing it opened a stary night-like doorway back to his home, back to Gravesfield. Philip passed through the portal and upon passing through. Upon returning the earth Philip saw the red and orange of leaves in fall and the chill of the coming winter. Philip smiles feeling joy at having saved his home and delivering the Lord's judgment upon a realm soaked in evil. Then Philip felt something in his hand; lifting it up his hand and seeing what he held.

Philip looked at the key in his hand then to the portal and back to the key. Philip then said, "I won't let any witchcraft remain in the Lord's garden." He pressed on the key again and before the portal could close; Philip threw the key into the portal. Philip then said, "Now witchcraft is where it belongs in a realm were evil rules."

With that said Philip returned to Gravesfield proclaiming that the witch and her ilk had been slain by him. As well as avenging his brother who he failed to save in time with the lord's aid.

However back in the other realm three women all of them in fur-lined cloaks with their hoods up, masks over the lower half of their faces, and goggles over their eyes arrived where Philip enacted his spell. The lead woman holding a scroll with a seal that depicts an owl turns to the other women and embraces them. Then says in a serious tone, "Your wretched uncle has cursed the entirety of our home, but there is one way to survive and eventually thrive. (the woman shows the other two the scroll) once this spell has been cast there will be no going back do either of you want to back out of this; fore the future of the family may just have to carry this burden."

The woman on the leader's right makes a hand sign best known for a special healing spell then says in a just as serious tone, "I won't let you bare this burden fore we all failed to prevent Philips master plan from coming to fruition."

Then the woman on the leader's left did the same and says in a similarly serious tone, "We all need to do this and work to one day break this evermore cursed winter. (looks the leader in the eyes) mother while father may say this is unnecessary, we need to do this lest we forget who we failed to avenge and is responsible."

The woman on the leader's right then says, "She's right Mother this needs to be a burden that our branch must bare and work to right."

The leader now identified as the mother nods and readying the spell sign and opening the scroll says before casting the spell, "We will end this ever-mournful winter even if the future will continue to pay for my sins." Then she cast the spell; after it was cast the family witnessed the scroll disintegrate but not before it circled each of them then circled all of them together and finally returned to the center and turned to ash.

The mother then says, "It is done the curse is tied to our branch of the family now let's get to work there is much to be done." The daughters nodded and they all departed but not before the daughter on the mother's left saw and picked up a key.

The daughter holding it to her chest whispers, "One day a pure soul not tainted by blind bias from father's realm will come and perhaps end this ever-mournful, cursed winter." She then turned and re-joined her mother and sister.

a/n: this was largely inspired by: "The Angel of the Owl House" by OwlHouseAngel, "A Blight On Bonesborough" by GeminiAlchemist, and my homebrew setting of "Eternal Dark Winter" for 5E which is still kinda of a work in progress but the setting works.
