Chapter 27: Charge and Seargent

Skit 1: Electrifying

Weiss is in her room, studying as usual, when Ruby suddenly kicks the door open.

"Weiss, I need your help!" Ruby screams.

"Ahh! You dolt, what are you doing! You almost made me mess up my notes, again!" Weiss yells back.

"Look, I'm sorry, but I could really use your help right now," Ruby says.

Weiss rolls her eyes, "No, Ruby, I'm not going to entertain you again when I've got studying to do,"

Ruby quickly glances at her notes, "One, those are notes for next week's lessons, and two, that's not what this is about. I need your help because it involves Dust and when it comes to Dust, you know more about that stuff than anyone I know. Please, I'm begging you here," and Ruby is on her knees, grabbing Weiss' skirt.

"Jeez, seriously Ruby, what did you do this time?" Weiss asks accusingly.

"I didn't do anything... yet. Look, I need your help for an assignment for Professor Peach that involves Dust. Lightning Dust to be specific. Can I borrow a few vials of your lightning Dust for a while. I promise to bring back whatever's left," Ruby begs again.

Weiss sighs, "Fine, I'll lend you some Dust, if for no other reason than to get you off my clothes. BUT, to make sure you don't cause an explosion like at the beginning of school, I'm going with you to supervise. Now come on, the best place would be outside," Weiss grabs a suitcase and then leaves the room while dragging Ruby with her by her cloak.

"Yay, you do care!" Ruby pumps her fists in the air.

A little later, the two are outside with their weapons and Weiss' suitcase filled with lightning Dust vials, rounds, and crystals.

"Okay, so exactly what kind of assignment did Professor Peach give you that involves my Dust again?" Weiss asks.

"Well, she assigned several students different Dust types to work with because out assignment was to see which is stronger or more efficient in terms of being used with our weapons. It's more like testing out a class theory than an individual assignment, and I got lightning Dust assigned as my type. Basically, she wanted me to use it to fire at targets, test its versatility with my Crescent Rose, and a few other things," Ruby explains.

Weiss scratches her chin, "Hmm, I see. Well, let's start with the rounds at the targets. I'll create some like so..." she uses her rapier and her glyphs to make some targets out of ice a short distance away. "Try shooting the targets. We can test their effectiveness against ice targets, which should have greater durability compared to normal wooden ones."

"Okay," Ru loads up the rounds into her sniper-scythe, takes aim, and... "Fire!" she fires a shot.

The bolt of lightning hits the target dead center and deals some damage, but the ice target remains standing.

"I kind of figured that would do more damage," Ruby scratches her head.

"Well, I made the ice targets more durable on purpose. We wouldn't be able to collect enough data if they were destroyed with just one shot. Let's keep going," Weiss says.

"What are you guys doing?" they hear and look back to see Khazhak walking up to them.

"Oh, hi Khazhak. We're doing an assignment for Professor Peach to see which Dust type does more damage. I got the lightning Dust. Wanna watch?" Ruby explains.

"Okay. Give it a whirl," Khazhak nods.

Ruby loads up another shot and fires again, getting about the same results as the last shot.

"I wonder if there's a way to make the shots stronger," Ruby wonders.

"We'd need bigger rounds or stronger Dust for that, which may not work out well with your weapon, Ruby," Weiss says.

At that point, Khazhak gets an idea, "Well, let's see how your lightning Dust compares to this. It might help give you some ideas,"

"Compare to what exactly?" Ruby asks.

Khazhak combines his swords into their greatsword form and charges up his semblance. This causes the girls to take a step back.

"Lightning Tornado Crusher!" Khazhak yells and swings his greatsword down for his attack.

Elsewhere, Porphyrius is talking with Pyrrha, "So, you think our semblances could complement each other and be used for some combos?" Pyrrha asks.

"Hmmm, gravity mixed with polarity. I don't know, maybe, but we would need to-," Porphyrius is interrupted by a loud explosion.

"What was that?!" Pyrrha looks around frantically.

Porphyrius waves it off, "It's probably just Khazhak. Nothing to worry about... probably,"

Back with the others, Ruby and Weiss stare wide-eyed as the targets Weiss made were reduced to nothing by Khazhak's technique, along with a small portion of the school courtyard.

"I think we can say at least which form of lightning is stronger. Good luck in your assignment," Khazhak walks away with a whistle, while the girls remain frozen in place in shock.

Skit 2: Overprotective

Taiyang Xiao Long is walking up to Beacon while holding his scroll and a notebook in his hands.

"Okay, so kids these days like loud music, working out, sports, and other stuff where there's a lot going on... hopefully rated PG. Right, then I should be able to have a fun-filled day with my girls as long as I-," Taiyang suddenly bumps into someone. "Oh, sorry, wasn't paying attention."

As it turns out, the person he bumped into is Robyn Hill, "Geez, be careful okay,"

"Wait, before you go, you wouldn't have happened to see two young girls here, would ya. They're my nieces and they're students here. One's Yang, blonde hair, lilac purple eyes, full of energy and always looking for either a fight or a party. The other is her younger sister, Ruby. Wears a red hood with a cape, silver eyes, really likes weapons and cookies, even though I tell her not to have so many like she does. Those are bad for your teeth," Taiyang explains.

Robyn shakes her head, "Nope, haven't seen them. But, have you seen two kids, a boy and a girl. Siblings, and my niece and nephew. One's Voshkie'ahk; long black hair, golden eyes, wears white clothing and practically looks like s super-model who knows how to fight. The other is Khazhak; all, blonde hair, blue eyes, kind of brooding, wears a lot of black and doesn't usually smile,"

"Wait, Khazhak... as in Khazhak Rairyu?" Taiyang puts the pieces together.

"Yeah, have you seen him? I was hoping to spend some family time with them." Robyn asks.

"No, but if I do see him, I'll be giving Khazhak a piece of my mind," Taiyang crosses his arms.

Robyn narrows her eyes a little, "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Because I believe that he has a crush on my daughter Ruby and I won't allow it. She's not ready for that sort of thing; she's too young. And I especially don't want someone like him to be her first boyfriend," Taiyang retorts.

"Hey, don't insult my nephew like that. Sure, Khazhak can be brooding at times, but he's been through a lot. Plus, he can handle himself in a fight. Your niece is training to become a huntress. How is it that it's okay for her to fight monsters that want to destroy humanity, but it's not okay for her to date boys?" Robyn makes a compelling argument.

"Because she's too young! She's not allowed to have a boyfriend until she's at least thirty-five years old," Taiyang yells.

"So, what, she'll be allowed to date when you're eighty-five years old?" Robyn mocks the idea.

"Hey, I'm not that old. I'm only thirty-five myself," Taiyang defends himself.

Robyn glances away, "Yeah, kids would call that old. But, that's beside the point. What makes you think that your niece is even worthy of dating my nephew. He's a strong warrior and practically the toughest kid in school, leader of the strongest team, and his grades are nothing to laugh at either. From what I've seen, he's the full package,"

"How dare you! Any guy would thank the gods every day to date one of my girls even once. They are angels compared to everyone else," Taiyang says.

"Didn't Yang blow up a night club after ordering a drink that she wasn't legally old enough to drink. My nephew told me about that after he learned about it from her," Robyn retorts.

Taiyang freezes for a moment, "Wait, she did WHAT?! Yang!" and he runs away to find Yang.

Meanwhile, Khazhak and Ruby were watching from around the corner, "Our older family members are weird, huh," Ruby notes.

"Yep," Khazhak says, popping the "p".

"Should we warn Yang about my dad?" Ruby asks.

"I'm not getting involved in that. Yang's on her own," Khazhak starts to walk away.

"Hmm, good point," and Ruby follows him.

Skit 3: Taking Command

Out in the Emerald Forest, Winter oversees Weiss's training as she deals with some Grimm. Weiss uses her rapier to blow them away with some wind Dust, sending them through a black glyph that sends them flying into the horizon.

"Alright, that's enough," Winter calls out, and Weiss holsters her weapon. "You've improved with using your semblance in conjunction with your Dust and you're getting better with controlling the flow of the battle against your opponents," Winter's words make Weiss smile. "Though, you still have much to improve on, like the speed and precision of your attacks with your rapier and when mixing those with your Dust," and just like that, the smile is gone.

"Well, I'll get there. I've made improvements, and I can make more," Weiss remains positive.

"Really, and what about your teammates? I've watched them in action and I must say that they are far from the kind of teammates I'd want my little sister to be working with. Your leader doesn't seem to take things seriously enough and some of her plans are completely outrageous, even if some of them work. Your teammate Blake has less issues. I reckon it comes from prior experience. I can't really see anything wrong with her other than needing to improve her communications skills. As for the blonde, her main plan for battle is simply to punch her way through her enemies and her problems," Winter notes.

"Well, I admit they're... different, but we have accomplished quite a lot together," Weiss says.

"No excuses. You may not be the leader, but you are a member of Team RWBY, so I suggest you help get your team into proper shape and trained as proper huntresses," Winter orders her.

Weiss makes a salute," Yes, Ma'am!"

In their room, Team RWBY are lounging about, doing their own things, when Weiss suddenly barges into the room.

"What are you guys doing?!" Weiss nearly yells.

"Reading/playing a game/playing with Zwei," all three reply together.

"Well, enough of that for now. We are Team RWBY, and we need to be the top team in all of Beacon, and that means training, studying, working, studying, and training until our bones crack," Weiss exclaims.

"Whoa, what's gotten into you?" Yang asks.

"Silence! No back talk from you, Blondie. Listen, we have a training session, and it starts in five minutes. Grab your weapons and move now," Weiss commands.

"Ruby, did you do something to make Weiss angry again?" Blake asks.

"What, I didn't do anything... I think," Ruby wonders.

Weiss gets in Ruby's face, "I said move!"

And somehow, the four members of Team RWBY were out in the courtyard, with Weiss making her teammates do laps around the school. If any of them started to slow down, she'd fire off a fireball from her rapier to get them moving again.

"Come on, we still have fifty more laps left. Get moving because after this, we have a three-hour study lesson on next week's lessons with Dr. Oobleck," Weiss orders them.

"Ruby, what did you do to make Weiss angry this time!" Blake yells.

"I told you, I didn't do anything!" Ruby retorts.

"Move, now. Like your life depended on it!" Weiss yells again.

"What are you doing?" Weiss hears and looks back to see Khazhak standing behind her with his arms crossed.

"I'm getting my team into tip-top shape. It's none of your concern, now get lost," Weiss waves him off.

"Excuse me?" Khazhak looks a little offended.

"I said get lost now before I put YOU through the ringer as well!" Weiss threatens him.

Though, that soon backfires when Khazhak narrows his eyes and growls at her. A moment later, the girls hear a loud smack of sorts, only to see Weiss fall and land in front of them, a huge bump on her head and her eyes replaced with 'X's.

"I think you girls can stop now. I set her straight," Khazhak approaches them.

The girls sag with relief, "Oh, thank you Khazhak. Weiss was getting crazy," Ruby says.

"Anytime, little rose. Welp, later," and Khazhak walks away with a whistle.

And that's the chapter. We had some more fun with the gang as they continue to do more craziness. What other weird situations will they find themselves in? Until then, please Read and Review.
