Chapter 19: Sound Ninja Attack!

Isamu's POV:

They had made it to a safe spot, there were roots surrounding the six as they waited for their comrades to wake up. They couldn't leave Sakura alone at this instant. Not when they also had their strongest member out. But of course Kenji was now trying to be the strongest person, which he was.

"You think it's wise?" He asks again.

Kenji nods. "I'll be fine. You and Sakura stay here, we have three people out. I need to set some traps to ensure our safety."

"Sakura already set some…" Isamu puffs out his cheeks.

"Is… is it bad to have more?" Sakura speaks up for the first time.

Isamu glances at Sakura, she had been staring at Saskue since they got here, and maybe it was annoying Kenji. Might give Isamu a chance to talk to Sakura for once.

Isamu shakes his head. "No. But we should be sticking together."

Even he can see how shaken Sakura is. That fight was a lot for all of them, they all had to deal with the pain Orochimaru inflicted on them. While he hadn't done a lot of fighting, he could see Kenji and Yuri working through their fear. After their fight, they all needed to rest. Saskue and Yuri used a lot of Chakra and just needed to rest for a moment. But he doesn't know what to do about Naruto… he doesn't know.

Isamu couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. And he doesn't know if he ever will.

"Fine… set them." He mumbles. "And get some rest Sakura. Kenji and I will wake you at a shift change."

Sakura nods her head. Kenji walks away from them and seems to be on a mission. Isamu needs a moment, and Isamu needs a minute. He needed a minute away from everyone here, but he wasn't going to be able to.

"Isamu… you have been training in medical ninjustu right?"

Sakura's words pull Isamu out of his head, it's all he can do.

He nods his head. "I have, and you in genjustu? Have you been learning how to resist?"

Sakura puts a fresh towel on Saskue. "Yes. Kakashi sensi is making sure of it."

Isamu doesn't know what to say. After all the years of being ignored and Sakura never wanting to hear it from him, Isamu never knew what to say to her. It was harder now since they were both genin, and it seemed like Kenji being around her was good, he was helping her. And Kenji liked Sakura, so it was a win-win for him.

"Get some rest. We'll need it."

Sakura falls asleep by Saskue and Isamu. And Isamu lets out a sigh. He looks at Yuri.

She kepts up with Saskue and that Orochimaru guy. He knew Yuri was strong, but never this strong. She had mastered the sharingan and who knows what else she has. They don't know what else she had copied. There wasn't much else for Kenji and Isamu to do. Other than planning the escape. Which is what they did. Isamu carried Naruto, Sakura carried Yuri and Kenji grabbed Saskue. Isamu had planted traps, and thankfully, they were able to hide.

It was terrifying.

Isamu needed to finish the justus… he needed to finish the paperbomb project. A project that would help him, but he needed to ask Naruto about sealings… as that might be the last thing he needs. He was going to fall behind at this rate. No way would he allow that to happen.

"Alright… you let her sleep?" Kenji looks between Isamu and Sakura.

"She needed it. So do you. You all expended more Chakra than I did." Isamu lets out a sigh.

Kenji nods. "I'll stay up a little longer. We need to be ready and in shifts of two. Three people are out and we can't afford to let them get hurt."

There is a pause in the air. Isamu doesn't know what else to do, he had been trying to wrap his head around it. And he needs to talk it out, and normally he talks it out with Asami sensi, rarely was it with his teammates.

"We should be scared of Yuri… right?" Isamu asks.

Kenji looks at him. "Why?"

"She… I think she is going to be the most powerful person. If she ever decided to go after the people who hurt her family…"

Kenji crawls over to Isamu. "Stop. She wouldn't. And she has people she cares about. Did you see Shikamaru, Saskue and Kankurō about to fight over her?"

Of course Isamu does. He remembers how weirded out Yuri looked. She looked like she was going to punch all three of them. Maybe not Shikamaru, but she would have punched Saskue and Kankurō. It was funny watching from the outside.

Isamu laughs. "I did."

Silence. Eventually Kenji wakes up Sakura and Isamu falls asleep until Sakura wakes him up for Kenji to rest a little.

And a rustle in the bushes. Isamu and Sakura tense, but they relax for a second. They see it's a little squirrel until Sakura throws a kunai at it.

"Why?" Is all Isamu asks.

"Wake up Kenji…"

Isamu looks out and sees the three sound guys from the first part. He taps Kenji to get him up, no way was he going to be able to fight without Kenji. He wonders how they would be able to fight without the three strongest people.

"Oh look at that. Three people in our way. Now wake Saskue up. We want to fight him." One that looks like a zombie.

He has been around Yuri too long. She had a nickname for everyone. Like Peanut butter and Jelly. It annoyed him though. But they worked well when they had no idea who the person is.

Why does everyone want to fight Saskue?

Sure he was the top of the class… but why do people need to fight him to prove they are the best? It's such an ego boost to him that Isamu doesn't think he needs it.

Kenji gets up and out and Sakura follows him. Leaving Isamu to get in front of the three laying there and wait. He shouldn't be the last line of defense, he isn't the best at fighting.

"What do you want here? I mean what are you really after? We know Orochimaru is calling the shots from the shadows." Sakura tells them.

And Isamu notices them all looking surprised by the news. That they know about their game, and they know who their leader is. A game that Isamu doesn't want to play.

"So don't bother with the lies." Kenji gets into a fighting stance.

"I can't stay quiet after hearing you talk to us like that." The one with the spiky hair says. "First I'm going to kill this girl and then go after Saskue."

Kenji gets into a battle stance. They have never fought alongside Sakura, and she didn't know about their crazy ideas. It is going to be hard to do. They didn't know if she would be able to mesh well with their style, there is a style team 7 has and it isn't his team.

But the one who walks funny and looks like a zombie notices the change in terrain. He can't blame Sakura for trying though. There is a moment of pause as Isamu holds his position, nothing was making sense to him. Why are they coming after Saskue? And were they told to eliminate the others?

They all come up to attack and Sakura springs her attack, leaving Kenji to move freely. He goes after the zombie one and attempts to kick him. Leaving Isamu and Sakura on the ground. Kenji manages to land a blow on the guy as well, which is good for them.

"Are you ready to be a temp member of the chaos?" He whispers.

"Chaos?" Sakura asks.

Isamu smiles. "Good. We are counting on you."

With that Isamu knows this time he can't take a back position, there can't be one this time. He is banking on one of them waking up in time to help them. But he isn't all too sure about it. He can only wish that they would wake up and teach these guys a lesson.

It might only be a fantasy though.

But then a miricle happens. After Isamu engaged with the zombie one, that weird Lee guy comes in and takes out the other guy and the girl. Giving Kenji a chance to come back and smile.

"Ohh… the greatest taijustu user is here!" Kenji smiles.

Ismau pulls Sakura up on her feet. "Now is your chance, don't let us show you up. I can hang back if needed."

Sakura is confused, Isamu can tell. He would be too. There is a lot she doesn't know that much about their team, and he thinks Kenji and her don't talk about their teams that much. Which makes him smile a little.

"I will always show up whenever you're in trouble!" Lee gives Sakura a smile and he can tell that annoys Kenji.

Something that Isamu needs to focus on later. Seeing as this is going to be too much energy and he should focus on protecting his friends.

"We are supposed to be–"

"Ya ya… Sakura, we can't say enemies now when three of them are standing in front of us." Kenji mutters.

But the sound ninja don't seem amused. The front zombie throws their scroll back to the other one. Zaku? And Isamu knows they are in trouble. Zombie guys go after Lee and Lee pulls up a tree root.

"A little flashy… right?" Isamu shakes his head.

But sees Kenji going after Zaku. Keeping them all busy and Kenji could take on one of them alone.

And Isamu pulls out a kunai, he throws it at the Zombie and pulls out another one and throws it at the Zaku guy. Neither of them seem to flinch at the use of the kunai, and all Isamu needed to do was make an opening for Kenji and Lee. But Lee uses a quick thing and Zaku moves away from Kenji, but the girl goes after him instead. Causing Zombie to land in some soft dirt.

But Zombie comes out of it and attacks Lee right away, not hitting him but getting him with sound. Isamu catches Lee and puts his hands on his head. Needing to heal him, Isamu knows they need Lee.

As Kenji engages again with the Zaku guy he is thrown away. He hits a tree really hard.

"Kenji!" Isamu yells.

He wishes Yuri, Saskue and Naruto were awake. They would make a few seconds of these guys. He hates to admit it… but they need their three front liners. Kenji is even struggling here. Kenji and Yuri fought so well together, they could cover each other and Isamu could throw himself in.

"Relax Lee." Isamu whispers.

"You can't get away from it." Zombie laugh. "I don't need to strike you with my fist. I can hit you with the power of sound. What makes it possible for the ear to hear things? What is sound really?"

Isamu narrows his eyes. That's what he told Yuri in the first stage. When this guy hit Kabato, Isamu watched carefully and them being from the Sound Village, Isamu put it together. It was a doomed fight from the start

"Vibration." Sakura answers.

"Give the little lady a prize. Yes, the vibration of molecules in the air creates a sound wave. These vibrations are collected by the ear and then directed to the eardrum. And the human eardrum breaks with sounds over 150Mhz."

Isamu shakes his head. He can't heal Lee right now. He has to let it go, he can only help with the dizziness. Something that, while it could help… it would only do so much. Their situation was looking grim, seeing as he and Sakura aren't fighters and Kenji needs someone else to bounce off.

Isamu doesn't know a way to defeat them… how to fight an enemy who doesn't even need to hit them? He needed information.

Zaku then launches into his justu.

A mistake.

But they don't know what his team is able to do. With more information the better for them. Isamu listens carefully. He handles ultrasonic waves and air pressure. Judging by the dirt pillow he made, Isamu can tell it's strong.

Justus of the future… but the future has to be based in the past. What would be something to counteract them?

He knows there is something, and with four against three, they have the numbers, but they need more people.

The guy blows past Lee and Isamu and heads right for Sakura. Lee tries running and Isamu goes after him. While he is distracted by Lee, Isamu takes a page from Yuri's book and kicks the zombie in the head. Sending him flying away. It helps, and he needs to get to Kenji eventually.

"Stop moving Lee, you're still off balance." Isamu tells him.

But Isamu doesn't notice Zombie going after him, and he knows dodging is no use, but Lee blocks it for him. And Lee goes down.

Isamu freezes. Is this what a real battle feels like? On their first mission he got knocked around, but he doesn't remember it very well. This is even more scary… and they know they could die. And they don't have Asami sensi to come in to protect them.

Sakura throws a kunai. But Zaku comes up to Isamu and punches him into the bushes. Isamu flew so far, he didn't know where he was until he nearly landed on Ino.

"Damn… these guys are strong. Where are Yuri and Kenji Isamu?" He looks at the voice. Seeing Shikamaru.

Isamu blinks slowly. They are here? And hiding in the bushes?

"Are you okay?" Choji asks.

"I'm fine. Yuri is knocked out and Kenji got blasted away." Ismau slowly sits up.

And Sakura is all alone. He realizes how bad that is. Sakura isn't good at fighting, she forgets to move. She doesn't know what to do unless she has her team. And she needs someone there to help her stay grounded!

When he looks, the girl has Sakura by the hair. Leaving the three knocked out vulnerable to attacks. Which is what Zaku is going to do.

Isamu looks at Ino. "Who cares? She's going to die and then they will kill Saskue. Maybe even Yuri and Naruto. Get a grip Ino. Stop all your big talk and match it for once."

Ismau can only watch as he begins going out and sees Sakura cutting off her hair. Isamu throws some shurkian and knows he can't stop, even with Kenji gone, he needs to be chaotic. And Sakura cutting her hair is the perfect reason.

It puts all their focus on her and they forget about Isamu. They dodge the attack as the girl moves away from Isamu.

Isamu smirks and goes after the Zombie, and luckily, Kenji is shooting a lighting bolt and getting in front of the sonic one, Zaku. Stopping him from getting closer to the three they need to protect.

"Sorry I am back late." Kenji smirks.

Isamu knows he loves this, protecting Saskue. Everyone is going on about Saskue, but they forget Kenji was right on his heels the whole time. Kenji was the only one who could spar Saskue well enough to get him almost out of the circle.

Sakura even moves away and even gets an attack on Zaku. Using subsatution a few times to confuse him. Even taking a few kunai and Isamu couldn't be more proud of his cousin. Sure, she still had a long way to go, but she was attacking someone. Biting Zaku and Kenji moves to kick Zaku in the head. Leaving Isamu to defend against the girl.

She comes at him and Isamu needs more help. Not just Sakura and Kenji. They need ten 10 out here. Doesn't Shikamaru feel like he should protect Yuri? How lame is he? That is no good for Yuri.

Sakura gets thrown off and Kenji gets blown away once again, but he is prepared for it. When Zaku turns to Sakura and team 10 comes out from the shadows.

He knows that they aren't fighters, and of course, Choji is terrified. He would be too. But he knows it wasn't just Ino's idea. Shikamaru needed to come and protect Yuri. Maybe he isn't so lame. Zaku is talking to them but Isamu is only half listening, needing to defend against the girl.

"Better alive sheep than dead ninja, right fatso?" Zaku says.

Isamu smirks.

Rule number 1 with Choji. Never call him fat.

"I said it's smart to get out while you still can, fatso."

Isamu focuses on the girl once again as they begin to exchange blows. She is good, but she isn't the strongest out of the three. So Isamu is fine fighting her first. He can't pay attention to Choji, or team 10 for that matter. But the girl stops fighting.

Ismau is about to throw a punch when he notices Ino is out and Shikamaru is holding her. Her justu, something Asami sensi might have banned Yuri from using should she copy. He backs off and moves Lee a little out of the way.

She points a kunai at her own neck. But the sound guys don't even want to pass the test. He widens his eyes at that. They were only here to take out Saskue? Who would do that?

Isamu pauses and shakes his head. But he hears a new voice. He looks to the trees and sees two leaf genin. He is glad that they might be able to help and Isamu could figure out what they are about. Report to Kenji and Yuri about it.

There are two more, Lee's teammates. And sees Neji using his Byakugan, but he pauses as well. Isamu wonders why he is though.

He looks at Sakue and sees him beginning to wake up. Seeing Saskue getting up, Everyone pauses. Looking at the battlefield as he rushes in. Boy, does he look pissed off. Something about the fact his team is getting injured.

"Kenji." Isamu mumbles.

And Saskue focuses on Sakura. "Who did this to you?"

His sharingan awakened. But thankfully Sakura doesn't answer him. Isamu is glad she doesn't as Kenji is right by Sakura and Saskue seems to ignore him as well.

Saskue focuses on Zaku who proclaims he hurt Sakura. And Zaku decides this is the chance to prove his worth, and unleashes a justu. But Saskue gets behind him, and between Kenji and Saskue they get their teams out of the way.

Isamu notices that team 10 ran away. And he doesn't blame them, he would too if they saw this version of Saskue, even after what they had all been through.

Saskue does a fireball with shurikin hidden in it. And gets behind Zaku, bending his arms backwards, so much he breaks them. And Isamu knows Saskue is blinded by rage. And the Dosu guy is frozen in place.

Sakura runs up to him and hugs him from behind.

"Saskue, calm down." Sakura looks at the last guy. "Give us the scroll and leave."

Saskue seems to come back to earth and sees the damage. He blinks and looks at Sakura, calming down and falling to the ground. Dosu leaves the scroll and begins to move away. Isamu goes to Yuri, seeing her also waking up, slowly, but she is waking up as well.

"Hey! You guys okay?" Choji

"Ino you look after Lee! We'll check on Naruto." Shikamaru says.

Isamu frowns when he hears Naruto talking. "Don't bother Shikamaru, he's fine. And Yuri is kind of waking up now."

Kenji ends up kicking Naruto and Isamu looks at Saskue. Seeing him upset about the thing he had just done.

Isamu shakes his head. Glad they survived for once.
