To all my readers-This is the first time that I'm going to do Yugioh without making any character name changes. I want you all to know that my OC Paige Muto is related to Yugi and her looks are based on him. So, think of Paige as a feminine Yugi and Atem. Before anyone asks, yes, I will be doing all 5 seasons of Yugioh and that includes Capsule monsters as well. I was once asked if Paige would be dueling and yes, she will. You wont be able to see her duel until season 2 when Kaiba starts his Battle City Tournament.
If anyone, and I mean anyone tries to rush me while writing this fanfic or any of my other fanfics, all written chapters will be delayed for a week. No exceptions. Leave a positive review and Happy Reading!
I DONT OWN YUGIOH AT ALL! I ONLY OWN THE OC AND HER DUELING DECK!
Narrator: Long ago, when the pyramids were still young, Egyptian kings played a game of great and terrible power. But of these shadow games erupted into war that threatened to destroy the world. A brave and powerful Pharaoh locked the magic away, imprisoned in mystical millennium items. Now, 5,000 years later, a boy named Yugi and his sister Paige unlocked the secrets of the millennium puzzle. Yugi is infused with ancient magical energies, for destiny's chosen him and his sister to defend the world of the shadow games, just as the brave pharaoh did 5,000 years ago.

"Hey Joey? Earth to Joey?!" said Yugi Muto, trying to get his friend's attention. Joey Wheeler was sitting across from Yugi, both of them playing Duel Monsters and dueling against each other. "Are you in there? It's your turn." said Yugi as his sister, Paige Muto was standing behind him.
Joey was looking at his cards, trying to decide on what card to play next when their friend Tristan appears behind him. "Aww, isn't he cute when he's thinking?" asked Tristan, placing an arm around Joey's head.
"Hey Tristan, Yugi here is teachin' me how to play duel monsters." said Joey, showing him the cards he had in his hand.
"Drooling Monsters?" asked Tristan.
"Duel Monsters, you nimrod." said Joey as he pushes him away, causing Paige to laugh.
"Sheesh."
"They've been at it for hours." said Tea, Yugi's other friend besides Paige. "Joey's starting to get the hang of the game, but Yugi and Paige are like the experts."
"Okay Yugi, it's time to duel." said Joey, finally placing down a card with the attack points of 800.
"See, each card has an attack number and a defense number." Tea explained to Tristan. "First player to eliminate their opponent's life points wins the duel."
"Pretty good move, huh Yugi?" Joey said smugly.
"Yep, pretty good move." said Yugi as he picks out his next card from his hand. "But not good enough."
Yugi places down a card that had a green dragon with the attack points of 1500 and defense points of 800. "What?!" exclaimed Joey as he sees the card. "Thanks a lot. A card that powerful totally wipes me out."
"Whoa, you stink at this game, Joey." said Tristan. Not far from them, Seto Kaiba was sitting at his desk, reading a book when he looks up at the group. "You did fine, Joey." said Yugi. "Paige and I just have better cards. See, our grandpa owns a game shop and we get all our best cards from him."
"Yugi and our grandpa even helped me build my own deck." said Paige.
"Your own game shop?" asked Joey, placing his hands on the desk as he stands up. "What are we waiting for? Let's go!"
"Okay. Maybe I can even get my grandpa to show us this super rare card he's got." said Yugi as Paige nodded in agreement.
"Rare card?" thought Kaiba. "Could they have found the card I've been searching for?"
At the game shop, Yugi and Paige walked into the store with their friends. "Grandpa, we're home." said Yugi.
Solomon Muto was smiling behind the counter as his grandson and granddaughter walked in. "I see you brought company." said Solomon, laughing.
"Gramps, you could show our friends your awesome super rare card you have?" asked Yugi.
"My rare card?" he asked. "My special card? Hmm."
"Please, please." said Yugi, begging his grandpa.
"Pretty please." said Joey.
"Pretty please with sugar on top?" asked Paige, making a cute face that her grandpa knew so well.
"Hmm." said Grandpa, then looks over at the kids. "Ha ha, how could I refuse?"
He then takes out a box that had the rare card in it. "You kids are in for a rare treat." said Grandpa. "I don't take this card out too often. Ready? Here it is."
He shows them the card of a dragon with blue scales. "The Blue Eye White Dragon." said Grandpa. "So rare, so powerful, I never let it leave my hands."
Joey and Tristan were in awe until Tristan takes the card from him. "Doesn't look all that special to me." he said, then Solomon yanks the card out of his hands.
"Tristan!" said Paige.
"This card is priceless. There are only 4 of them in the world." explained Grandpa.
"Speaking of cards, I'm ready to trade." said Joey.
"Not for this card." he said.
"Nah, I didn't mean that card. I mean show me some other cards to get me started." Joey explained. The door of the store opens, causing them to look up. "Hello, can I help you?" asked Grandpa.
"If you can't, it certainly wouldn't surprise me." said Kaiba, entering the store.
"Seto Kaiba." said Yugi and Paige.
"Kaiba!" Joey exclaimed.
"Doesn't he have a big fancy company to run?" Tristan asked. "What's he doing down here?"
"Not that it's any of your business, but I came to see the card." Kaiba said to the group.
"Hey, are you into Duel Monsters too?" asked Joey as he walks up. "This is perfect. Maybe we could all duel together sometime."
"Me? Duel you?" Kaiba asked rudely as he walks up to the counter with a briefcase in his hand. "I would have more of a challenge playing solitaire."
"What?"
"I am the number one ranked duelist in the country and the favorite to win the duel monsters championship." said Kaiba before looking away. "Heh, you wouldn't last two minutes in a duel against me."
"Ooh, I'm shaking. Maybe you'd like to settle this with fists instead of cards." said an angry Joey. It wasn't until Yugi gets in front of him.
"Whoa, take it easy Joey." said Yugi.
"But Yugi…Kaiba's asking for it." Joey tells him.
"Now, does this shop have any worthwhile cards or not?" asked Kaiba.
"Depends on what you're looking for." Paige said, intimidated by Kaiba as she ducks behind Tea. Kaiba's eyes looked down at the Blue Eyes White Dragon that was sitting in front of Solomon. "Can it be?" asked Kaiba as he pushes Yugi into Joey. "The Blue Eyes White Dragon in a dump like this?"
"It is the card I've been searching for." Kaiba thought.
"Well, enough window shopping." said Grandpa as he puts the card away. "Is there anything else I can help you with?"
Kaiba growled at the elderly man before slamming the case on the counter and opening it up to reveal Duel Monster cards. "Whoa!" said Grandpa.
"Listen to me, old man. Give me your Blue Eyes White Dragon card and I'll trade you all of these." demanded Kaiba.
"Whoa!" exclaimed the others.
"That's a lot of cards." said Paige.
"Ah nice, but no thanks." said Grandpa, causing the others to be shocked. Kaiba was getting impatient. "Fine, if you won't trade, maybe you'll sell it. Name your price. I can pay anything you ask." he said.
"I'm sure you could but, this card is worth more to me than you could ever offer." said Grandpa. "Not because of its power or because it's so rare, but because of what it means to me. This card was given to me by a dear friend and so I treasure this card as I do that friend. So parting with it is completely out of the question."
Kaiba was shocked that Solomon said no. "No." said Kaiba.
"You'd feel the same even if it were a common card, right Grandpa?" asked Yugi.
"Exactly." he replied. "You see, this precious card has bonded with my heart."
"Fine, I've heard enough of your nonsense." said Kaiba as he closes the case and starts walking away. "Senile old fool."
Kaiba walks out of the store and gets into his car. "Heart of the cards. Ridiculous. These cards are all about power and one way or another, his Blue Eyes White Dragon card will be mine." thought Kaiba.
"Gentlemen, there's a little something I need you to pick up for me at the game shop." said Kaiba once he returned to Kaiba Corp.
"Gladly, Master Kaiba." said the man. The next day, the man and his friend arrived outside of the game shop. Solomon was alone in the shop, cleaning the counter when they entered.
"Good morning." he said as he turns to see who had entered the shop.
"My master, Seto Kaiba challenges you to a duel. You will come with us now." said the man in the suit.
"And if I were to…decline?" asked Solomon.
"I'm afraid I must insist." he said.
"Young Kaiba doesn't understand, but I'll teach him a lesson about the heart of the cards." thought Solomon as he goes with them. Yugi, Paige and their friends were on their way home from school.
"Man, I hope he has some cool cards today." said Joey.
"Me too."
"Yeah."
"Okay, Gramps, I'm here to get more cards." Joey announced as they entered the dark shop. Solomon didn't answer. "Hey, hey Gramps?" Joey called out.
"Grandpa, we're home!" Yugi and Paige called out to him, but didn't get a reply.
"Maybe he went out." suggested Tea.
"Maybe, but why would he leave the door unlocked?" asked Joey.
"I'm worried. Grandpa wouldn't do that without locking the door to the shop." said Paige, setting her bag down behind the counter. The phone starts to ring and Yugi walks over to answer it. "Hello, game shop." said Yugi.
"Ah, Yugi. Perfect." said Kaiba on the other end.
"Kaiba!" Yugi exclaims.
"Your grandfather's here visiting and he's not feeling well. Why don't you and your sister come by my office and pick him up." said Kaiba.
"Kaiba?! What have you done, Kaiba?!" asked Yugi soon as he heard the dial tone.
All five of them ran to Kaiba Corp and went to the top floor. Soon as the elevator doors opened, Yugi and Paige saw their grandfather laying on the floor. "Grandpa, are you okay?" asked Yugi.
"Are you hurt?" asked Paige and he looks up at them.
"Yugi, Paige, I failed." he tells them. "I wanted to teach that boy, Kaiba, a lesson about the heart of the cards, but I lost."
"Grandpa." they cried.
"How's the old man feeling? Hmm?" asked Kaiba as he stood in the doorway.
"Kaiba, you sleaze! What have you done to him?" asked Joey.
"We had a duel, that's all." Kaiba said calmly. "With each of us putting us our most valuable card as the prize but I guess playing against a champion like myself was just too much stimulation for the old fool."
"Kaiba, you should be ashamed of yourself." Tea said angrily.
"It was fair and look at the sweet prize I won." said Kaiba, holding up the Blue Eyes White Dragon card and rips it in half.
"No!" cried Paige, watching her grandfather's beloved card being ripped in two.
"Grandpa's most treasured card." said Yugi.
"Yes, the Blue Eyes White Dragon is a rare and powerful card, and this one will never be used against me." Kaiba said smugly.
"Aah, my Blue Eyes White Dragon, my treasure." said Grandpa as he groans in pain.
"Grandpa, hold on." said Yugi, then looks up at Kaiba. "How could you do such a thing?"
"Yugi, take this." said Grandpa as he hands the boy his deck.
"Grandpa…" said Yugi and Paige.
"I built this deck, I put my soul in these cards, and I taught the both of you everything I know." said Grandpa. "Take them, take my cards and teach him respect. Teach Kaiba respect about the heart of the cards, Yugi."
"But grandpa, you need help. We've got to get you to a doctor." said Yugi as Paige nodded beside him.
"Sounds like an excuse." said Kaiba. "Your friends and sister can care for your grandfather, while you and I duel. Unless you're afraid?"
"Take him, Yugi." said Joey.
"Huh?" asked the Muto siblings as they looked up at their friends.
"We can take care of your grandpa while you and Paige take care of creepy Kaiba. Teach that rich spoiled brat what a real duel is all about." said Joey.
"For your grandpa, Yugi." said Tea. Yugi looks over at Paige, who nods her decision.
"I don't know." said Yugi.
"Trust me, you're like the best player I've ever seen, and you've got the millennium puzzle." Joey tells him. "Yugi, I know you can."
"Who else do I trust more when it comes to my deck?" asked Paige.
"We all do." said Tea. Yugi and Paige turned back to their grandpa.
"Okay, grandpa, I'll do it." said Yugi.
"I know you will my boy." he said.
"Everyone, put your hands together and I'll mark us with a special sign." said Tea as she held a black marker in her hand and draws a smiling face on their hands.
"What gives, Tea?" asked Joey.
"It's a symbol of our friendship so when Yugi's dueling," explained Tea. "No matter how tough it gets, you'll know that he's not alone. We're all right there with him."
"But he has me." Paige said.
"Other than you, Paige." said Tea. Yugi nodded in agreement. An ambulance pulls up in front of Kaiba Corp as Tristan carries Solomon out of the building with Joey and Tea right on his tail. "Joey, Tristan and I will take their grandpa to the hospital." Tea said to Joey. "Why don't you get back in there and cheer Yugi on with Paige."
"Okay, take good care of him Tea." said Joey as he runs back inside. On the top floor, Yugi and Paige walks into a huge stadium. "I designed this virtual stadium myself. Impressive, mmm?" asked Kaiba as he stood across the field.
"It's huge." said Paige.
"I think you'll agree, it adds a bit more life to the game. We each begin with 2,000 life points, first player to hit zero loses. Are you ready to play, runt?"
"Playtime is over, Kaiba." said Yugi and suddenly the millenium puzzle begins to glow.
"YUGIOH!"
"What the…?" Kaiba asked, confused at what happened. Yugi was now different. His hair was taller, and his voice was different, but he had a determined look on his face.
"Someone's in trouble now." said Paige as she looks at her brother.
"Now Kaiba," said Yugi. "Prepare yourself because it's time to duel."
Kaiba: 2,000
Yugi: 2,000
"Virtual systems ready, so let's begin." said Kaiba and places down his first card. "I attack with the mighty Hitotsu-Me Giant. Brace yourself, Yugi. You've never like this before."
As Kaiba played the card, out on the field in front of him appeared a monstrous Cyclops with green skin (1,200/1,000). Yugi and Paige gasped at the beast. "Whoa!" exclaimed Paige from the sidelines.
"He's brought that monster on the card to life!" exclaimed Yugi.
"It's my virtual simulator." Kaiba explained smugly. "It creates life-like holograms of every duel monster."
"So this is how you beat my grandfather." said Yugi, putting the pieces together. "Well, it's my turn." He drew a card from his deck, then plays it. "I call on The Winged Dragon, Guardian of the fortress!"
A big blue dragon with the attack points of 1,400 appeared on Yugi's side of the field, just as Joey runs in and stops next to Paige. "Whoa, monsters! Real monsters!" Joey gawked at the dragon and the giant.
"I know, right?" asked Paige, still in awe. "This is mind blowing."
"Fireball Attack!" commanded Yugi. The dragon unleashes a fireball from its mouth at the giant, who then was turned into pixels and was destroyed. A little boy with black hair runs into the arena from the entrance on the other side of the field and stops by Kaiba's platform. "Big brother! Are you alright?" he asked as he watches his brother's life points go down.
Kaiba: 1,800
Yugi: 2,000
"Alright, go Yugi!" cheered Joey and Paige.
"Heh, well played Yugi, for a beginner." said Kaiba as he drew another card. "But how will you deal with this?"
Suddenly a clown appeared on the field. "Saggi the dark clown? That card has hardly any attack strength." said Yugi.
"True, your winged dragon's attack is 1,400 while my dark clown is only 600, but if I combine it with this card." Kaiba tells him as he places down a magic card.
"A magic card." said Yugi.
"Exactly. The negative energy generator. It multiples my monster's by three."
The magic card activated, multiplying Saggi's attack points from 600 to 1,800. "Dark clown, attack with dark light." commanded Kaiba and Saggi attacks the Winged dragon, causing its pixels to disappear.
Kaiba: 1,800
Yugi: 1,600
"As you can see, combining cards can be very effective." said Kaiba.
"He's good. He knows every aspect of this game." thought Yugi. "But my grandpa put all his gaming knowledge, his whole heart into assembling this deck. I have to believe that it holds some secret strategy."
He then drew the next card from his deck and sees a leg. "This card is useless." Yugi thought. "I can't beat the dark clown with this. I'll have to use a different monster in defense mode. The monster will be sacrificed but my overall life points will be safe."
"Dark Light Attack!" shouted Kaiba and his dark clown sends a dark energy ball goes towards the face down card, destroying his monster.
"Hang in there, Yugi." said Joey, slamming his fists into the side of the arena. One by one, no matter how many monsters Yugi placed in defense mode, Saggi the dark clown destroys them.
"You're not fairing any better than the old man did, Yugi." taunted Kaiba. "Your deck is just as weak and feeble as your grandfather."
"Our grandpa is not weak!" shouted Paige.
"She's right. My grandpa is a great man and a better duelist than you'll ever be." Yugi said to Kaiba. "He entrusted me with his cards, and I can feel his heart in this deck. I doubt you have that kind of faith in your cards, Kaiba."
Kaiba became confused, wondering what he meant by that. "But I believe in my grandpa's deck." Yugi added as he drew another card. "And my faith rewards me with Gaia, the fierce Knight, with the destructive power of 2,300."
Gaia the fierce Knight appeared on Yugi's side of the field and runs towards Saggi the dark clown, destroying him.
Kaiba: 1,300
Yugi: 1,600
"Way to go, Yugi!" shouted Joey.
"Go Yugi!" cheered Paige.
"Alright, Kaiba, your move." said Yugi.
"Ha. This will be over sooner than you think." said Kaiba, drawing another card from his deck. "I call upon the Blue Eyes White Dragon!"
A blue eyes white dragon appeared on the field. "No way." said Yugi.
"Impossible. We all watch Kaiba tear that card in half." said Joey.
"Surprised? Did you think your grandfather was the only one to possess a Blue Eyes White Dragon?" asked Kaiba. The Blue Eyes White Dragon opened its mouth and fired its attack at Gaia.
Kaiba: 1,300
Yugi: 900
"Your fierce knight is destroyed. Faith or no faith, you will fall before my superior monsters, Yugi." said Kaiba. "Power is what this game is all about, you fool. Faith is for losers, like your pathetic grandfather. In your entire deck, there's not a single card that can stand up to a Blue Wyes White Dragon. So what hope do you have against two?"
Kaiba then shows Yugi another Blue Eyes White Dragon and places it on the field. "Why don't you just admit defeat, Yugi." said Kaiba. At the hospital, Solomon was on a stretcher with Tristan and Tea running beside him.
"Don't give up, Yugi." he said through the oxygen mask.
"I won't give up. Grandpa's counting on me." said Yugi as he looks down at the card he drew from his deck. The card in his hand was a magic card, showing him three glowing swords.
"Swords of revealing light! It stops all monsters on the field for three turns." said Yugi as the three swords fell in front of the two dragons.
"How desperate. What possible good will a three-turn delay do you?" Kaiba asked.
"He's right." thought Yugi. "What do I do? I can't figure out what to do with these cards. They're just a bunch of pieces. How do I use them to battle an expert like Kaiba?"
"For someone claiming to have faith, you're giving up too easily, Yugi." said a familiar voice behind him, causing Yugi to turn around and see his Grandpa. "Listen, sometimes the cards are like a puzzle. You have to put all the different pieces in their proper place."
"Like the millenium puzzle?" Yugi asked.
"Exactly. Each piece helps build a greater entity." said Grandpa.
"Grandpa!" Yugi cried out as he disappears.
"Like the pieces of a puzzle, Yugi. Remember!" said Grandpa's fainting voice and Yugi looks down at his cards.
"Puzzle? When are the cards like a puzzle?" he asked himself, then remembers what Grandpa told him and Paige. "Wait, grandpa once said…"
"Duel monsters contains one unstoppable monster, Exodia." said Grandpa as Yugi and Paige stood on the other side of the counter. "But he can only be summoned by drawing all five special cards."
"Why five special cards, grandpa?" asked Paige. "Is Exodia powerful when you draw them?"
"Very." he replied. "A feat to this day no one has ever accomplished."
"Wow." said Paige.
"Quit your stalling, Yugi or you will forfeit the match." said Kaiba, snapping him out of his thoughts.
"I never forfeit." said Yugi as he draws another card. "Another piece of the puzzle."
"Draw any card you like; it won't change a thing. My dragons maybe frozen for another two turns but, my new monster is under no such spell." said Kaiba, placing another card on his side of the field. "The Judge Man, with an attack power of 2,200."
The Judge Man attacks Yugi's face down card, sending it to the graveyard. "I can attack with the Dark Magician, but he won't stand a chance when Kaiba's dragons are free of my spell." thought Yugi.
"Dark Magician, attack!"
The Dark Magician attacks, destroying the Judge Man.
Kaiba: 1,000
Yugi: 900
"Your judge man falls." said Yugi.
"Ah, a sacrifice that doesn't even faze me." said Kaiba. "And though neither dragon can move for one more turn, my next card is…the third Blue Eyes White Dragon."
Yami Yugi gasped, his eyes widen as the third Blue Eyes White Dragon made its appearance on the field. "Now, my dragon, attack!" commanded Kaiba. The Blue Eyes White Dragon followed his orders, destroying the Dark Magician.
Kaiba: 1,000
Yugi: 400
"So tell me, Yugi, how's your faith now?" asked Kaiba, smugly. "On my next turn, all three Blue Eyes White Dragons are free to attack. This game's over no matter what card you draw. You can't possibly stand against my three Blue Eyes White Dragons. It's over, Yugi, you were never a match for me."
"Don't listen, Yugi." said Joey.
"You are always the perfect match, Yugi." said Paige.
"Kaiba had three blue eyes all along. He only wanted grandpa's card so it couldn't be used against him." thought Yugi. "My only chance now is to assemble all the pieces of Exodia, but the odds are against me. I don't think I can do this." He then starts to draw from his deck, it starts to sense what he was feeling.
"The deck, it senses my doubt." said Yugi and suddenly the millenium puzzle starts to somewhat separate the two of them. "Don't lose focus, Yugi. Don't lose faith, concentrate."
"Oh no." thought Paige.
"Our friendship symbol." thought Yugi, looking up to see Tea, Paige, Tristan, and Joey with their hands over the cards.
"Yugi, we're right here with you." said Tea.
"Yugi, you've got to believe in yourself." said Tristan.
"You can do it. Just kick Kaiba's butt." said Joey.
"I believe in you, Yugi." said Paige.
"They're right. I've got to believe in the cards like my friends and my sister believe in me." Yugi said.
"Draw your last pathetic card so I can end this, Yugi." Kaiba said.
"My grandpa's deck has no pathetic cards, Kaiba." said Yugi, drawing his last card. "But it does contain…the unstoppable Exodia."
"Impossible!" shouted Kaiba.
"I've assembled all five special cards, all five pieces of the puzzle." said Yugi as all five cards were on the field and Exodia started to show himself.
"I can't believe it…he did it." said Paige. "He actually did it."
"Exodia! That's not possible! No one's ever been able to call him." said Kaiba, backing away on his platform.
"Exodia, obliterate!" shouted Yugi as Exodia created a yellow ball of energy in his hands. Exodia attacks, destroying all three Blue Eyes White Dragons. Kaiba's life points dropped to zero, declaring Yugi the winner.
"You did it! Yugi, you won!" cheered Joey.
"Go Yugi!" said Paige.
"This can't be." said Mokuba, shocked at this. "My brother never loses."
"You played only for power, Kaiba." said Yugi. "And that is why you lost. But if you put your heart in the game, there is nothing you can't do."
"But…but how?" asked Kaiba. "How could I lost to him?"
"Kaiba, if you truly want to know," said Yugi as the symbol of the millenium puzzle appeared on his forehead. "Open your mind."
He then stretches out his hand at Kaiba and opens his mind. "There, Kaiba, maybe now you will begin to see." said Yugi.
At the hospital, Solomon opens his eyes. "Grandpa's awake." said Tea, causing Tristan to look over at them.
"Yugi won." said Grandpa.
In a dark room, a man was sitting by himself. "Mr. Pegasus, sir. Seto Kaiba, our uncontested champion, he's been defeated in a duel, sir, by someone named Yugi." said a man, standing in the doorway.
"Hmm." said Pegasus, his millenium eye glinted for a second in the light.
