To all my readers-This is the first time that I'm going to do Yugioh without making any character name changes. I want you all to know that my OC Paige Muto is related to Yugi and her looks are based on him. So, think of Paige as a feminine Yugi and Atem. Before anyone asks, yes, I will be doing all 5 seasons of Yugioh and that includes Capsule monsters as well. I was once asked if Paige would be dueling and yes, she will. You won't be able to see her duel until season 2 when Kaiba starts his Battle City Tournament.
I've already had my background chapter ready for Seasons 2-5. To the one who has thought that Paige should have Arkana's Dark Magician, I want you to know that you are very lucky that I have that card in my actual deck. I want everyone to know that when I write season 5 (I really do mean when I write it), how I see Atem when he enters the world of his memories, there will be a couple of major surprises. I can't tell you what those surprises will be because they are still in development and I'm bouncing around some ideas with a couple of my friends so that I can make it the best part of season 5.
If anyone, and I mean anyone tries to rush me while writing this fanfic or any of my other fanfics, all written chapters will be delayed for a week. No exceptions. Leave a positive review and Happy Reading!
I DONT OWN YUGIOH AT ALL! I ONLY OWN THE OC AND HER DUELING DECK!
Shoutouts:
"Whoa. What a nightmare." said Tristan. "I just dreamt Bakura went totally mental."
"Same here. Last time I snooze with dueling cards under my pillow." said Joey.
"Sleep well, guys?" asked Bakura, smiling.
"Let's see." said Tea. "I dreamt Yugi had us all dressed up like duel monster cards, and that you'd gone nuts. So, no."
"I had the same dream too." said Paige, getting up from the ground, then takes a closer look at the Millenium puzzle. "But I don't know if it was actually real or not."
"AAH!" someone screamed.
"That voice." said Joey. "Sounded like Mai. Come on!"
A maniacal laugh was heard as Mai's monsters were destroyed. "Bye-bye, birdies." said the man who had just defeated Mai.
"My Harpies." said Mai, her life points dropped to zero. "They're gone."
"Heh heh heh heh. I think you mean, eliminated." he said to her, chuckling in darkness. "Just like you. Now hand over all your star chips, you loser!"
The darkness had cleared from one side of the field, standing there was a man with a gleeful look on his face as Mai takes out her star chips. "Mai! Are you okay?" asked Yugi as he and the others ran up.
"You're too late." said Mai.
"Too late for what?" asked Tea.
"This sideshow freak giving you a hard time?" asked Joey.
"That's right. Just like Pegasus pays me to do." said the man. "Root out all of the dueling filth on this island and dispose of it."
"Doesn't that make you a garbage man?" asked Tristan.
"This is no joke!" Mai tells them. "Panik's one of the island's eliminators, and if you don't get out of here, he's gonna do to you what he did to me."
"Eliminator? What's that, Mai?" asked Yugi.
"And who in their right mind names their child Panik?" asked Paige.
"Your guess is as good as mine." said Tristan.
"Look. This is what she means, right here." said Panik, grabbing Mai's wrist and showing her glove. "Check out her duelist glove. Not a star chip left."
"But that would mean she's been disqualified." said Tea.
"You're out, Mai?" asked Yugi.
"I am." Mai said sadly. "It all happened so fast. The way Panik duels, I just lost it."
"This isn't right." said Tea.
"By the looks of it, Panik didn't duel with honor." said Paige.
"Ha! She was one of my easiest victims yet." said Panik, laughing as he pushes Mai forward.
"You creep!" shouted Joey, but as he tries to run over to Mai, Tristan and Bakura stops him in his tracks. "Move it! There's no excuses for pushing a girl."
"Calm down, Joey. I know how you feel, but that guy's more than twice your size." said Bakura.
"I can take him." Joey tells him.
"No, you can't." said Paige.
"No, Joey. Fists aren't the answer." said Yugi. "Violence won't solve anything. Paige and I have dealt with a lot of bullies in our lives, and I'm afraid there's only one way to deal with them." Yugi then walks over towards Mai and Panik.
"What do you mean?" asked Joey.
"You have to stand up to them!" said Yugi and the Millenium Puzzle starts to glow.
"YUGIOH!"
"But Yugi…" started Mai.
"Now, let's see you try your intimidation tactics against me, Panik." said Yugi. "I don't scare easy, especially when I'm standing up for my friends and sister, so let's duel!"
"You twerp! I will eliminate you from the tournament just like I did her!" said Panik, grabbing Mai's wrist again. "Tell him how I trounced you!"
"Please Yugi." begged Mai.
"Let her go, Panik." said Yugi. "If you're looking to bully someone, try bullying me. Playtime is now over, Panik. It's time to duel!"
"All right, Yugi! No problem." Joey shouted from the sideline. "Show Panik how we deal with dogs like him."
"Yugi, huh? Must be my lucky day." said Panik as both of them got on either side of the field. "Pegasus has promised a generous bounty to the eliminator who defeats you."
"I wonder how much he's paying him if he defeats my brother." muttered Paige.
"You got me on that." muttered Tea.
"I bet it's a lot." said Joey.
"I wonder. Think he'd throw in some extra cash for inflicting bodily harm?" asked Panik. "Not that I wouldn't do it for free."
"Ha! You better start thinking of other ways to make money, Panik." said Yugi. "Because after I get done with you…not only will you be out some star chips, but you will be out of a job."
"Whoever said that I was an eliminator just for the money, Yugi?" asked Panik. "I've made enough cash to have retired long ago. But I won't quit because there's no better thrill than breaking weak duelists, like you. So get ready, Yugi. I'm about to take you into a world of hurt!"
"I won't be bullied by the likes of you, Panik." said Yugi. "I play with my heart…that's why I'll always win against your type."
"I would defend Yugi but I don't think I have the strength to do it right now." said Paige.
"I don't blame you." said Tea.
"You never faced my type before. When I'm in a match with someone, there's a lot more to it than sheer dueling strategy." said Panik.
"Huh? Meaning?" asked Yugi.
"Panik's ruthless, Yugi." Mai tells him. "He had me totally terrified!"
"That's right, and she's not the first either." chuckled Panik. "We eliminators have built our careers on stalking weak players like her and strong-arming them into dueling us! You see, when you're as good as I am, you learn to appreciate the hunt as much as the duel itself. And now I'm gonna take you down just like I did Mai! Ha ha ha ha."
"I see how you work, Panik…" said Yugi. "sneaking up on unsuspecting duelists because you haven't had the courage to challenge them face to face!"
"Watch your mouth, you insolent cur!" shouted Panik.
"True duelists fight with honor and respect, not the underhanded tactics of a poacher." said Yugi as Panik growls. "And to prove it, I wager all the star chips I have to win back Mai's."
"This makes me love my brother more every day." said Paige.
"It's a deal." said Panik. "If you win, I'll give you all 8 of her star chips. The bet makes no difference to me."
"What do you mean?" asked Yugi.
"What I mean, little Yugi, when you duel against Panik," he said as he pressed a button on his side of the field, causing two ankle bracelets to come out and wrap around Yugi's ankles. "You're putting much more than just your measly star chips on the line…much more! Ha ha ha!"
Two small cannons appeared and sent out fire at Yugi. "Huh?" said Yugi as he dodges the fire from both sides.
"Yugi!" screamed Paige and Tea.
"We gotta get him outta there!" said Joey.
"What's the matter, Yugi? Hmm?" asked Panik as the flames were kept going. "Can't take the heat? Well, get used to it, because you're strapped in for the long haul."
"Turn it off, Panik!" shouted Joey.
"I don't need plan my brother's funeral!" shouted Paige.
"Panik used those on me, too." said Mai.
"Stay strong, Yugi." said Bakura. Yugi groaned as the flames died down.
"I can see the fear growing in your eyes, Yugi." said Panik, pointing a finger at him. "I can hear you quaking in your boots! You're beginning to realize the nightmare you stepped into! I do believe you are beginning to panic!"
"Get a life, you psycho!" Tea shouted at Panik.
"You should be locked up somewhere!" shouted Paige.
"Forget this guy, Yuge. This wasn't part of the job description." said Joey.
"Yeah, no joke." said Tristan. "Come on, let's get you down from there, Yugi, what do you say?"
"Are you finished blowing smoke, Panik?" asked Yugi, causing the others to gasp.
"Yugi!" said Tea.
"What's he think he's doing?" asked Joey.
"I don't know, but whatever it is, I hope he has a plan." said Paige.
"It will take much more than cheap pyrotechnics to make me lose my cool." said Yugi and Panik laughs.
"The last time someone had the nerve to talk to me like that, I broke them in half!" said Panik. "Now let's duel!"
"Was it their spirit or their bones that he broke in half?" asked Paige.
"Beats me." said Tea.
"Fight time." said Joey.
"Yugi's good, but he's never faced an eliminator before." thought Mai. "Once Panik gets inside his head, it's all over!"
"Seeing how the blaze of my fire didn't faze you, let's turn down the lights." said Panik, drawing a card from his hand and placed it on the field. "My Castle of Dark Illusions will turn this duel into your darkest hour, Yugi. Its magic shrouds the field with a veil of shadows and the castle itself is extra fortied, thanks to the field power bonus that I get for playing it at night!"
A castle appears on the field, floating in the air with a ring around it with its attack points increasing to 1,196. "I'm not afraid of the dark, Panik." said Yugi.
"You would be if you only knew the fearsome nightmares within its shade!" said Panik as black surrounded him and his side of the field. "The blanket of shadows cast over my entire side of the field, making it impossible for you to see the creatures I summon, but leaves your entire side exposed and vulnerable to my attacks. Unnerving, isn't it, Yugi, how the darkness preys on your fears, on your mind until you're too scared to speak, too terrified to fight!"
"Don't listen, Yugi!" shouted Mai. "This is how he threw me off my game!"
"Now you tell us?" asked Joey.
"This is new, coming from her." said Paige.
"And if you think you can storm my castle with the help of a field power bonus of your own, think again, because just as my shadows block the light from above, they've blocked the field power bonus from the ground below." said Panik. "Only the night grants bonuses here."
"Without any idea what's waiting for me in those shadows, I can't risk an attack." thought Yugi and places Celtic Guardian on the field. "I'll just play it safe for now. Celtic Guardian. Defense Mode!"
"Not a very bright idea." said Panik and places a card on his dark side of the field.
"I can't see what monster he played." thought Yugi.
"Ha ha ha ha! Attack! Dark Grasp of Fury!" shouted Panik and the monster he played on the field begins growling as it attacks. Yugi gasped as he and the others watched Celtic Guardian get destroyed.
"Our first victim of the night." said Panik.
"Yugi." said Tea.
"That's cheap." said Joey. "How can you defend against what you can't see?"
"Yeah, or defeat a monster that you can't find." said Bakura.
"Paige, have you ever been up against a card like that?" asked Tea.
"No. I never played against that card and I certainly hope that I don't play against anytime soon." said Paige.
"Hmm. Anybody got a flashlight?" asked Tristan.
"Even your friends and sister have lost hope for you." said Panik.
"I need to get his monsters out of those shadows. But the only way I can do that is by destroying his Castle of Illusions, and with its defensive point set at 2,500, no card in my deck has an attack high enough to scratch it, let alone destroy it." thought Yugi. "Boy, I'm beginning to understand why they call him Panik! The game just started and I'm already flustered!"
"Play any monster you like." Panik said to Yugi. "The creatures within my veil of shadows will consume them all!"
"Winged Dragon and Guardian of the Fortress in defense mode." said Yugi as he placed the dragon onto the field.
"This defensive maneuver may keep your life points safe from one monster, Yugi…" said Panik laughing. "but not two!"
"I hate to admit it, but he's right." Yugi thought. "Defending alone won't help win this duel for me."
"Ha Ha Ha! You're terrified, aren't you, Yugi?" asked Panik. "Admit it! All your courage has been devoured by my shadowy fog! Ha Ha Ha Ha! Yes. All that's left is a trembling little duelist, powerless to defend himself."
"How's Yugi supposed to take this guy out, Mai?" asked Tea.
"If I was able to figure that out, we wouldn't be in this situation." said Mai.
"There's gotta be some way to neutralize Panik's Veil of Shadows." thought Yugi. "But it's generated by his Castle of Dark Illusions, and that thing's virtually impregnable! Wait a minute! I may not be able to attack Panik's Castle, but what if I attack the darkness itself? Guardian of the Fortress, take flight!" The dragon roars as it takes to the sky.
"Fireball attack!" shouted Yugi and the dragon fires two fireballs on Panik's side of the field, lighting up to see the two monsters that Panik played. "His monsters!"
"So you saw my creatures." said Panik, laughing. "But I doubt it gives you the foresight to see what's coming next. Dark Grasp of Fury!"
The darkness grabs Guardian and destroys him. "Lights out for your Guardian of the Fortress." taunted Panik as Yugi's life point dropped to 1,606. "My creatures hungrily eye your remaining life points, Yugi. And I'll see to it that they feed quite again soon."
"He needs to be in a mental hospital." said Paige.
"That's true." said Tristan.
"Agreed." said Tea.
"Has it sunk in yet, wimp?" asked Panik in a taunting voice. "Standing up to a bully leaves you nowhere to go but down!"
"Down is right." thought Yugi. "My life points are way down while Panik's haven't even been touched. His shadows have destroyed two of my best monsters while I still can't see what I'm up against. He's got me outmaneuvered and overpowered, but I'm still gonna to find a way to put that bug bully in his place!"
"The night has eyes, Yugi. Ha ha ha ha ha! And all of them are on you!" Panik tells him.
"As long as Panik's Dark Castle of Illusions shrouds his side of the field with that shadow, it's impossible for me to see any of his monsters." thought Yugi. "But panicking about it will only make things worse. So I gotta do my best not to let him see me sweat."
"Keep struggling, Yugi!" said Panik. "Bullying's so much more fun when you resist!"
"Tough talk, Panik, coming from someone who makes all their attacks while hiding in the safety of the shadows!" said Yugi, causing Panik to laugh in response.
"Yugi, look out!" shouted Tea as the side cannons fired again as he dodges.
"You ok, pal?" asked Tristan.
"You uppity little cretin!" bellowed Panik. "Perhaps you should think twice before you insult someone who can scorch you with the touch of a button, huh?! You're afraid, Yugi! You're lost and alone in the dark, and I'm the big bad boogeyman, about to leap out and give you the scare of your life!"
"He didn't insult you, old man!" shouted Paige, causing everyone, including Yugi, to look at her. "Yugi only told you the truth! You are nothing but a bullying old man, who takes pleasure in bullying others to get his way!"
"Paige!" shouted Yugi, shocked at what she said to Panik.
"What?" she asked. "You know I'm right about this."
"Ya know, Paige is scary when she's angry." said Joey.
"No kidding." said Mai.
"She's very protective when it comes to her brother." said Tea as they turned their attention back to the duel when Yugi starts chuckling.
"If you could see what I have in store for you, you wouldn't be laughing!" said Panik.
"But that's why I'm laughing…." said Yugi. "because I can see….right through you."
"What? What are you talking about?" asked Panik. "You little runt!"
"He's not a runt!" shouted Paige.
"Settle down." said Tristan.
"No need to fight him." said Joey, as he and Tristan hold her back.
"You are the boogeyman, Panik, scaring children into being afraid of the dark…" Yugi said to Panik. "until they realize the dark is nothing to be afraid of…like you."
"Huh?" said Panik, starting to freak a bit.
"Once a person conjures up the confidence not to be fearful of the unknown, they've disarmed the only weapon the dark has." said Yugi.
"You wish it was that simple, you…"
"But it is that simple!" said Yugi. "I have the card to prove it."
"What card?" asked Panik.
"A card that'll expose you and lift up that veil of shadows you cower behind." Yugi explained.
"What's that?"
"It's just a little something that'll teach you a tough lesson in broad daylight." he said, placing the card down.
"Hey, Mai, why would Yugi tell Panik his strategy?" asked Tea.
"It's panic." answered Mai. "Same thing happened to me. You start making amateur mistakes."
"I don't know, Mai." said Bakura as they see the look on Yugi's face. "He doesn't look like he's panicking."
"Ha ha ha ha ha! You almost had me there." said Panik. "We both know that card's nothing but a big, fat bluff! Prove me wrong, Yugi. Go ahead. Let's see you give me my tough lesson. Ha ha ha."
"If that's the card I think he's going to use…" said Paige. "I wonder how long it'll take for Panik to freak out."
"What card is he gonna use?" asked Joey.
"Ha ha. Why should I show you my card after you've gone to such lengths to keep yours in the dark?" asked Yugi.
"He has a plan, doesn't he?" asked Tea.
"You bet he does." said Paige.
"I think you're stalling." said Panik.
"You don't trust me, Panik?" asked Yugi. "Believe it or not, not all duelists are lying dogs like you."
Panik growled at Yugi's statement. "And to prove it, I'll show you." he said. "After all, I wouldn't want you thinking I was some kind of liar."
"Show me!" demanded Panik.
"You don't need to prove anything to that slime, Yugi!" said Tristan.
"Ready, Panik? Here it is." said Yugi and revealed the card. "The Swords of Revealing Light!"
"Huh? Revealing light?" said Panik.
"The blinding magic of the Swords of Revealing Light not only stops all enemy monsters from attacking for three full turns," said Yugi. "but it bathes the entire battle field in a light so luminous that even your lurking shadow creatures will be exposed! Soon, Panik, the monsters in your dark empire will have nowhere to hide. But rather than play it now, I'll take a page from your book and let you worry about when and how I'll use it just like you do with the monsters you hide in the dark. You're going down in 5 turns. 5 turns, Panik! Then my monsters will finish you off! Curse of Dragon! Defensive Mode!"
Out on the field, Curse of Dragon appears (ATTK: 2,000/DEF:1,500).
"And, of course, the card that will make you see the light." said Yugi, placing a card onto the field, face down. "Your 5 turns start now, Panik. It's your move."
"Grrr! He's taunting me!" thought Panik. "That must be the Swords of Revealing Light!"
"What's the matter, Panik?" asked Yugi. "Has bullying lost its thrill?"
"I'll teach you about loss…just you wait!" sneered Panik.
"Hey, Paige, Mai, why is Yugi keeping that card out if he's not going to play it yet?" asked Tea.
"Uh…" said Mai. "I hate to say it, guys, but it's not a good sign."
"Huh?"
"I was able to keep it together this long, too, but after a while, Panik has a way of getting to you and making you slip up." said Mai.
"Not my pal. He knows what he's doing." said Joey.
"I sure hope so." said Bakura.
"He does." said Tristan.
"Listen, I know Yugi's good, but fighting Panik isn't about being good." she tells them. "It's about keeping a level head while you're lost in the dark or being attacked by fire. Yugi's going to need guts to win this duel, not skill."
"You're wrong, Mai." said Paige.
"How?" she asked.
"You guys may not know it yet, but I think I know what Yugi is planning on doing when he uses Swords of Revealing Light." said Paige. "I can feel it. I know I feel it."
"Tell us!" said Joey and Tristan.
"Don't leave us in suspense." said Joey, but only gets a smile in response from Paige.
"Guts, huh? Well, he's got heart." said Tea.
"You got that right." said Tristan.
"Yes, but he did just leave his best card out, fully vulnerable." said Bakura. "You don't make those kinds of mistakes unless you're nervous. And Panik's not one to let a mistake like that go unpunished."
"Make your move, Panik." said Yugi as Panik draws another card.
"I must say…" Panik said, laughing. "it was quite a daring draw to illuminate me with the presence of that card, little Yugi. But it was a critical mistake to leave it on the field completely exposed!" Yugi smiled smugly as Panik continued.
"If you thought idle cards were safe from attacks, you were dead wrong!" yelled Panik as he sets down another card on his dark side of the field. "Reaper of the Cards!"
"The Reaper?" questioned Yugi as the Reaper appeared on the field with its scythe.
"When the Reaper is summoned, all magic cards hear the Ghostly Toll of Doom!" said Panik. "He'll be sending your Revealing Light card to the discard Graveyard, leaving you defenseless! Reaper, Attack!"
The Reaper heads for the face down card on Yugi's side of the field. "Yugi!" shouted Joey and Tea.
"But that card was Yugi's only chance!" Mai cried out. The Reaper moaning as it glides over to the card, swinging its scythe towards the card.
"Your fate belongs to me now, Yugi! Call of the Graveyard!" screeched Panik and just before the scythe made contact, the Reaper stops its attack.
"Huh?" said Mai, then gasps as Panik laughs.
"What's going on?" asked Panik, seeing the Reaper on the field in mid-attack. On the screen, 'Warning' flashed before his eyes. "It can't finished its attack."
"Mm…huh?" asked Tea, looking up as Yugi laughs.
"It should have destroyed your card, the Swords of Revealing Light!" said Panik.
"I said my Swords of Revealing Light is the card that will illuminate your monsters." said Yugi. "I never said it was the one I placed on the field. You just assumed that."
"I give him credit." said Paige. "I was actually thinking that he had placed it on the field but not let Panik assume it was there."
"But if that's not…." said Panik.
"The card I placed on the field was a different card." said Yugi. "The Spell Binding Circle….a trap card."
"A trap…card!" said a frightened Panik.
"Yes, a trap card that snares your Reaper, stopping him dead in his tracks, encircling him in a magical prison." said Yugi as the Spell Binding Circle appears on the field and traps the Reaper. "In duel monsters, one must be wary of the Reaper of the Cards and its ability to send magic cards to the discard pile. I figured that you probably had one stalking around in your deck somewhere. But not that he's frozen, unable to damage my deck, I'm free to lay whatever magic cards I want on the field."
"Great thinking!" said Tea.
"Way to put one over on him, Yuge!" said Joey.
"Wahoo!" said Paige.
"What is it with this kid?" asked Mai. "I can't even keep up with him here on the sidelines."
"Well, that kid is my big brother." said Paige, causing Mai to look over at her. "Kick his dark butt to the graveyard, Yugi!"
"He's doing good, but it's not over yet." said Bakura.
"How dare you!" bellowed Panik. "You fooled me!"
"You fooled yourself, Panik, and wasted quite a powerful card, too." said Yugi. "But now that the coast is clear…I'll really lay my Swords of Revealing Light!"
Panik growls at Yugi. "And the second magic card…both facedown."
"Facedown? Why?" asked Panik.
"Now what's up?" asked Joey.
"Beats me." said Paige.
"I don't know, but I bet we're going to find out soon enough." said Bakura.
"So what. You captured my reaper." said Panik. "But he's only one of my powerful monsters. The ones that remain will destroy you!"
