TRANSFORMERS BEYOND

LEGENDARIUM

Prologue

The Theomachy

XXXXXX

In the Beginning, before time properly began, there was only The One: an extradimensional entity that served as the sentient core and lifeforce of the primordial multiverse. We do not know how The One came to be, but it's believed that it resides in a higher plane of existence that's far beyond our understanding. For an untold time, it existed there in isolation, pure and inviolate, but it was sentient and therefore it questioned its own existence, seeking to understand itself, its place in creation, and its purpose. And so, to better understand those things, The One peered outside of its realm, witnessing the creation of a vast myriad of multiverses where on each of these worlds, the spark of life brought forth beings of infinite varieties and forms of life that were capable of dwelling in all the many corners of these universes. Inspired by these events, The One sought to create a multiverse of its own, where it can fragment itself across its many worlds to experience their myriad struggles and evolutions in order to understand itself and the nature of its very being when these vessels returned to their Source after their mission's completed. And so, it created. This is the chronicle of the events of but one universe...this is the story of the Beyondverse...

Approximately 13.8 billion years ago, the prime universe first existed as an ultra-hot fog of hydrogen energy that was smaller than an atom. Then, it expanded and inflated into proper existence in an event that the humans of Earth now call the Big Bang. After a billion years, galaxies of stars with orbiting planets were created. On several of these new worlds, life gradually evolved thanks to the mysterious life-giving energies of the Zodiac, eventually and miraculously bringing forth sentient beings in many shapes and sizes. First among these new lifeforms were beings made of energy such as the Vok race of the Nexus Zero Nebula, who were among the earliest alien civilizations in the universe. Meanwhile, organic life evolved through carbon bonding, while mechanical life evolved through the naturally-occurring interaction of gears, levers, and pulleys, dubbed "Atechnogenesis" by scientists. Advanced forms of atechnogenesis even brought forth technorganics, lifeforms made up of flesh and metal merged together at the cellular level.

In order to better observe this young universe, The One created from a portion of its lifeforce an immortal child, tasked with the goal of exploring the young universe and maintain balance within it. A child that was born without the prejudice and bias their parent's memories, so they'll be better able to judge its parent without preconception and favoritism, but only with a burgeoning curiosity. This child of The One was given the name of Daiakuron, an unique digital entity that wore the eight faces of Order, Chaos, Space, Wisdom, Nature, Transformation, Knowledge, and Death. And so, Daiakuron began their eternal exploration, passing freely across the cosmos, experiencing what would arise.

For many eons, Daiakuron traveled across the universe, making contact with numerous worlds and their inhabitants. They were amazed by their observations, but they lived in isolation. Without any of the creatures they've encountered equaling their power, Daiakuron questioned their existence, beginning to converse with themselves. Why did they exist, and What was their purpose, and if there was such a thing Who had set it all in motion and Where were they and How? However, Daiakuron was alone in the universe, with no equal to answer these questions but themselves. In time, eight unique personas begin to form within Daiakuron's mind, with each of them based on their eight faces of Order, Chaos, Space, Wisdom, Nature, Transformation, Knowledge, and Death. While the personas were one being in the form of Daiakuron, the act of division separated them into eight viewpoints whose opinions, insights and feelings began to grow ever more divisive and irreconcilable, until they all became entrenched in their views and unable-even unwilling-to see any of the others' side. And the more they argued, the more Daiakuron began to feel divided in both mind and spirit until they divided in form as well.

After Daiakuron's fragmentation, the eight personas then gained their own physical forms as cosmic entities, which each of them representing an aspect of reality. The first was Primus the Lifegiver, and after him came Unicron the Chaos-Bringer, Atlas the Transmutator, Solomus the Wise, Gaea the Seeder, Adaptus the Shaper, Epistemus the Thinker, and lastly Mortilus the Deathbringer. Together they were known by many names, such as the Guiding Hand, the Lords of Light and Darkness, and the Star Gods.

For a short time, the Guiding Hand continued Daiakuron's original mission of charting the universe and overseeing all events within it. But soon they began to argue over what they should do. Unicron wanted to eliminate anything and everything he deemed as imperfections, Adaptus wanted to promote evolution through starting conflicts and wars among alien races, while the rest were just content to let things to work at their own pace and that they should only step in if absolutely necessary. It didn't take long for their battles to take on physical form and thus, the Theomachy began...

The battles between the members of the Guiding Hand waged across the universe for countless ages. In the Theomachy's early days, Epistemus was struck down by the combined power of Unicron and Adaptus, her body utterly obliterated and casted out throughout the void never to be reunited. However, Epistemus's consciousness survived, drifting helplessly in the depths of space until it finally sat at a distant corner of the Milky Way Galaxy. There, the knowledge goddess's lifeforce gradually accrues a collection of space junk around it. As its gravitational pull increases, more and more drifting shipwrecks and space junk gather around it, eventually forming an artificial planetoid that would known in the far future as Junkion.

During the Theomachy's middle stages, Adaptus mainly fought against Gaea, who opposed the former's stance on evolution through conflict, as the nature goddess believed that it would eventually lead to the destruction of all life. The two goddesses fought long and hard against one another until Gaea eventually managed to get the upper hand on Adaptus by locking her away in the form of a mechanical planet. Unable to transform back into her regular form, Adaptus' planet mode drifts across space, becoming the rogue planet that would be only known by its future inhabitants as Planet X.

In spite of Adaptus out of the way, Unicron remained a threat to the universe's stability, and battled Primus, Atlas, Solomus, Gaea, and Mortilus for eons. Despite the Chaos-Bringer being the mightiest of all of the Guiding Hand, he couldn't match the united five in combat. Inspired by how Gaea managed to lock away Adaptus within the form of a planet, Unicron sought to this tactic to reduce the number of his enemies. Through clever tricks and traps, Unicron was able to lock away Atlas, Solomus, Gaea, and Mortilus within the forms of planets that would be known in the distant future as Gigantion, Caminus, Eukaris, and Velocitron respectively. The only one left standing between Unicron and his quest for universal destruction was Primus himself...

As the only two members of the Guiding Hand left, Primus and Unicron battled throughout the universe for centuries, though being in every way equals, neither brother could gain the upper hand for long: for every galaxy Primus saved, another was lost to Unicron's hunger, until literally millions of galaxies had been lost. During their duel, Primus's and Unicron's blood was spilled on several occasions. It was spread across the universe, being seeded on many worlds, especially on those that supported life. Their blood would be known as the rare elements of Energon and Dark Energon respectively.

The Theomachy continued for hundreds of millions of years until after eons of fighting, Primus eventually came to the realization that neither he nor Unicron would ever prevail, and that if they continued fighting...they would destroy everything...

And so, Primus created from his being an artifact of unfathomable power known as the AllSpark, which served as a direct conduit to his power. With the AllSpark, Primus brought forth Heralds to travel on ahead of him to distant worlds to prepare the mortal lifeforms living there for the coming of Unicron. Every single one of these Heralds were a being of light in the image of their creator and each of them represented an aspect of Primus himself. The first Herald of Primus to be birthed from the AllSpark was their leader Primon, a force for good who sought to bring peace and justice across the universe. Following Primon were his twelve greatest generals and advisors who were called the Primus Vanguard, consisting of great warriors Ariex, Taurotron, Geminator, Cancix, Leonicus, Virgol, Libras, Scorpius, Sagittarii, Capricun, Aquator, and Piscor. Behind them, the armies of light were assembled. The First Children of Primus would be forever known throughout history as the Covenant. The Covenant's function was to bring relief to the victims of Unicron when all chance of victory seemed lost, forcing the Chaos-Bringer to fight a war on multiple fronts that'll greatly deplete his strength in time. Yet Unicron countered his brother, seeing through his plan. From his Anti-Spark, Unicron created his own Heralds who would come to be known as the Adversaries from the Void, who waged war against the Covenant on behalf of their master, and once again their battles dragged on across the never-ending sea of stars.

And thus Primus determined it would be better if they withdrew from battle. He tricked his brother by abandoning the physical universe and fleeing to the astral plane, drawing Unicron with him. And just as his brother resumed their conflict mind against mind, Primus immediately retreated back to the physical world, boasting to Unicron how he'll soon have the upper hand. Unicron, thinking that his brother was onto something, followed Primus back to the real world, only to have both of their essences manifest within a barren asteroid, where Primus hoped they might be forever bound and thus their devastating conflict would be contained.

The Theomachy was over and for the first time in eons, Primus could finally rest in peace...

Author's Notes: Hi, everybody! AtomicStudios here, and this is my first entry in -Transformers Beyond: Legendarium. Legendarium is basically a summary of the background lore/information for my own Transformers series, Transformers Beyond. I will be writing it like The Silmarillion where its written in a pseudo-historical text/myth sort of way. Actual character dialogue will be minimal.

The source of information in this series comes from all across the Transformers franchise, mostly from the Marvel Comics Generation 1 continuity that started it all, the Japanese G1 cartoon continuity, the original IDW Generation continuity that ran from 2005 to 2018, the Unicron Trilogy, the live-action "Bayformers" movie franchise, Transformers Animated, and the Aligned continuity.

Also, expect a LOT of name drops in this series.

Legendarium has been largely inspired by DeviantArt User Nagillim's Cybertronian Timeline: nagillim/art/Cybertronian-Timeline-478931721
