In the year 2261, Pike's Enterprise makes a discovery that is kept secret. In 2404, Saavik is tasked with using the device. This story is pretty close to canon, both for the Original Series and for Strange New Worlds. It's the first story in my new "Shadows And Sunlight" series. I had the idea for this in a dream and wrote the story a day later.

No matter how hard he tries, Spock always seems to fall short of full Vulcan control. Trigger warning, because you can justify almost any behaviour with logic if you try hard enough. But Spock & McCoy and eventual Kirk/Spock, so yay!
