"Nep Jr., please tell me these are the last of the papers," Neptune whined as she stamped another document with her face and a thumbs up for approval.
Nepgear dropped another stack onto the desk and replied, "This is the last stack."
"Oh, nepping yes!" the purple CPU cried with joy. "I thought this would never end!"
"And you spoke too soon," Lenna voiced as she entered the office with a new stack of papers.
Neptune's eyes widened as she groaned out, "Oh neppers…"
Lenna dropped the documents next to the stack Nepgear placed and asked, "Lady Neptune, I'd like to ask for permission to have the whole next month off."
Neptune gave her a confused look. "What for?"
"I have a wedding to prepare," the blonde answered.
"Wooo, who's the lucky bride that's getting a man?" Neptune chirped.
"That would be me."
Nepgear gasped, "You're engaged?! Congratulations!"
"How come I never knew about this? And why aren't I invited?" Neptune questioned.
"Because I haven't sent out the invitations," Lenna answered. "And I never told you because I thought it was obvious with the ring and all." Lenna held out her hand with the diamond ring on her ring finger, and both sisters closed in on the girl to observe the sparkling object.
"Wow! I want a ring like that!" exclaimed Nepgear.
Neptune couldn't take her eyes off the ring as she whispered, "…Marriage, huh…"

Noire hummed as she walked down the streets of her city. She wasn't out on a stroll, no, she was out because Neptune had called her out for a dinner date. It was pretty unexpected on Noire's part, but she wasn't gonna turn her girlfriend down. They hadn't gone on a date in a while, so Noire was pretty excited.
When Neptune called, saying she made reservations at a fancy restaurant in Lastation, Noire expected them to wear something fancy, but Neptune was anything but fancy, so Noire was a bit worried. While Noire has an elegant taste for food, she doesn't have any fancy dress that fits her human form. Most of her dresses fit Black Heart, mainly because she's always in goddess form when attending any important meeting or party.
When she made it to her destination, she transformed into Black Heart and walked through the door. Instead of her combat suit, Black Heart was dressed in a black strap dress that showed a good amount of cleavage. She wondered if it was too much, after all, the dress from below the upper thighs was semi-transparent.
She was getting stared at by many male citizens and she was getting pretty flustered. Maybe it was a bit much, she wanted to get Neptune's attention, not her populace.
"Lady Black Heart, Lady Purple Heart has been waiting," said the host. "Please follow me to your table."
Black Heart stood up tall and ignored the admiring stares from her people. She glanced around taking in the details of the place. It was a nice five-star restaurant, with red carpeted floors and wooden walls. There's a large crystal chandelier that's dimly lit, giving the air a romantic feel.
The host guided Black Heart to the back of the restaurant where there were fewer prying eyes. She was led to a small round table where Purple Heart was present. The host bowed as he said, "Your waiter will be with you in five minutes," and left.
Purple Heart stood up from their table to greet her lover. "Noire, I was beginning to think that you'd never show up."
Black Heart took in the sight of her girlfriend and felt her breath leaving her. Purple Heart was breathtaking, she wore a long purple dress with a slit on one side that went all the way up to her hip and the plunge-style top gave a great view of her ample chest.
Finally finding her voice, Black Heart replied, "And miss this beautiful sight? Never."
Purple Heart smiled and stepped forward, meeting Black Heart in an embrace and a brief kiss. "You look beautiful too."
"Not as beautiful as you," said Black Heart.
Purple Heart brought her back in for another kiss, but a much longer one this time. What felt like five seconds was five minutes when the waiter came, interrupting their contact.
"Ahem, are you ladies ready to order?" he asked.
Purple Heart, who still has Black Heart in her embrace, turned her attention to the waiter and voiced, "We'll both have some water before beginning our orders."
"Of course," replied the waiter and left to get the water.
"Shall we look over the menu and order?" Purple Heart asked.
Black Heart nodded and they both took their seats and looked through the menu. When the waiter came back with their drinks, the two CPUs placed their orders. While they waited, they indulged themselves in some small talk.
"So what brought this on?" Black Heart asked. "Aren't we a bit busy with work to be going on a date?"
Purple Heart reached over the table and took Black Heart's hand into her own. "I've been thinking and you were right."
Black Heart giggled, "I'm right about many things. Mind elaborating?"
"About what you said. That we barely hang out as a couple because of work. And that I also never invite you out anymore, so I want to change that."
"Work is important, Neptune."
"But you're more important than work, Noire. I'd do anything to make you happy," voiced the purple goddess.
"I'm already happy," Black Heart replied as she squeezed Purple Heart's hand.
Purple Heart never failed to make Black Heart feel like she was special and that's one of the reasons why she loves this purple dolt. Black Heart leaned over the table and pecked her cheek, causing Purple Heart to slightly blush.
"So, why did you pick this place? I thought you hated fancy places," said Black Heart.
"I just wanted to show you that I can be romantic. And these places make you happy."
"I'm happy anywhere as long as I'm with you," voiced the Lastation CPU.
Purple Heart chuckled, "Since when were you so cheesy?"
"Since I have you for a girlfriend," she replied.
They chuckled and before they could start another topic, their waiter came back with their food. Purple Heart had the smoked salmon while Black Heart ordered the seared lamb chops. The two CPUs thanked the waiter as he left them and they dug into their meals.
Purple Heart thought this was a good time to ask, "So um, Noire…"
"Yes, Neptune?" Black Heart questioned as she cut into a lamb chop.
"What do you think about marriage?"
"…Marriage…" Black Heart repeated the foreign word and soon her face flushed as her eyes widened. "M-Marriage?!"
Purple Heart nodded as she ate a piece of her fish. She hummed in delight from the burst of flavors on her tongue. "This is really good."
"W-Why would… Why would you ask me about marriage?" Black Heart could feel her heart beating so fast that it was becoming painful. She began to think that Purple Heart might be thinking of proposing. Why else would she ask her out to a romantic dinner? That must be it!
"Lenna's getting married, so she asked me for permission to take the whole next month off."
"O-Oh… that's sweet. I-I'll have to congratulate her later…" Black Heart could feel herself burning up. She grabbed her water and took a big gulp to calm herself. She needed to be cool. She needed to be relaxed. Stay cool… Stay cool… Stay cool!
"Yes, and it got me thinking since there has never been a CPU that got married, so I wanted your opinion on it."
"M-My opinion?"
Purple Heart nodded as she took a sip from her glass cup. "What do you think about marriage?"
"I-I think it's a wonderful thing. Two people devoting their life and love to each other, it's pretty great."
Purple Heart smiled and grabbed Black Heart's hand. She brought her lips down and placed a single kiss on each knuckle, causing butterflies in the black CPU's stomach. "I'm glad to hear that…" Purple Heart then released her hand and went back to her dinner plate.
Black Heart blinked. She waited and waited, but Purple Heart did nothing. "N-Nothing else you want to say?"
"Huh?" Purple looked up from her plate with puzzled eyes. "A-Am I supposed to say something else?"
Black Heart sighed as she relaxed her muscles. She really thought Purple Heart was going to propose, but guess she got her hopes up. Of course, Neptune wasn't gonna propose. I'm a workaholic; a stubborn, overbearing, and arrogant goddess. Why would she ever want to spend the rest of her life with someone like me? Black Heart felt her throat close up and grabbed her cup to have another drink. She felt like an idiot for ever thinking that they could be a married couple.
Purple Heart noticed the change in expression on Black Heart's face. It was one of sorrow, and Purple Heart didn't like to see that emotion ever on her girlfriend's lovely face. "Noire? Are you alright? Do you not like the food here?"
"Huh? Oh, no, the food here is great…"
Purple Heart became even more concerned when Black Heart didn't look at her. "Then why do you look so glum? I don't like to see you saddened. Tell me, what's wrong?"
Black Heart huffed, "Nothing's wrong, Neptune. Please, can you drop it?" It wasn't a question but a statement, and a stern one.
Purple Heart didn't like the tone of Black Heart. They were having a good time just before, so what changed? Did she say something? Was it something she did? "Noire, whatever I did to upset you, I'm sorry. Please, I don't want this night to end badly."
Black Heart took a deep breath and calmed herself. She and Neptune have been together for a long time, but probably not long enough for marriage, right? She was thinking too much. This was a date. She came out to spend time with her girlfriend, she shouldn't be expecting anything from her. She should just have fun. After all, she doesn't know when there will be another time for a romantic date like this with Neptune again.
"I'm sorry, Neptune. I just had a terrible thought, that's all. I shouldn't let it affect our date." Black Heart smiled, showing that she was no longer upset.
Purple Heart returned the smile. "I love you, Noire. If there's anything I can help you with, you can always ask me."
"Thank you, and I love you too, Neptune."
Purple Heart stood up and moved over to Black Heart's side. She leaned down and pressed her lips against Black Heart's, giving her a long kiss. Purple Heart poured everything she was feeling into this one action, hoping to get through to the Black goddess.
Black Heart kissed back just as hard and placed a hand on Purple Heart's cheek. They broke apart when they needed air, but kept their face close. Purple Heart lightly pressed her forehead against the other CPU's head and happily sighed.
Black Heart gave Purple Heart a brief kiss on her nose and pulled back. "Let's finish the rest of our date."
Purple Heart grinned and returned to her seat to finish the rest of her smoked salmon. Black Heart looked down at her plate and began to think again but with more pleasant thoughts this time. Marriage can come another time when we're both ready. If I actually think about it, I'm not ready for married life, so it's a good thing Neptune didn't propose. Or is that a bad thing?
"Noire? Are you going to eat?" Purple Heart asked, breaking Black Heart out of her thoughts.
"Yeah…"
"Let's get dessert too," the purple goddess suggested. "I heard they have a delightful chocolate cake! And we should order some pudding too!"
"Sure," Black Heart chuckled, seeing a little bit of her human form's personality coming out.
Seeing Purple Heart happy was all that mattered to Black Heart. She realized that she was just like the other CPU. Wishing for the other's happiness. Black Heart's smile grew as she thought, This life I have right now… It's perfect already, I couldn't ask for anything more…
