Chapter 44: The Desperate Path Toward Survival
"You're going to stay behind and try to stall us so those two can escape?" Rhya guessed. "Aren't you nice to your friends, Ms. Royalty?"
"You seem to have the wrong idea." Mereoleona nullified Lira's attack. "Those kiddos would've just only been in my way. Stall you? Don't make me laugh. I intend to kill all of you."
"Kill all of us?" Rhya echoed. "You're the one making me laugh. There's no way someone like you can't see what you're up against right now. Sorry, but we're going to go after that anti-magic kid really soon because that Grimoire and those swords belong to the real Licht."
"Mana Zone: Calidus Brachium Barrage." Mereoleona cut off all dialogue and went straight out on the offensive, to which Rhya used his copied Spatial Magic to dodge the attack.
"Captain Mereoleona." Asta and Zora returned to the fight after Mereoleona was on her last legs.
"You really are idiots." Rhya chided. "You just wasted all the time this lady bought you."
"Compound Magic: Elemental Quintet." the five elves combined their magic.
"He's ignoring the force of those spells?" Rhya was confused when Zora tanked the magic beam using the trap magic circle he cast on himself and reflecting it to Asta at double the force.
Asta then bounced the beam back at Zora's trap magic circle using the 'Demon-Slayer Sword'. "Heads up!" he then fired the quadruple powered beam back at the elves. "Let's get the heck outta here." he grabbed Mereoleona and all three leapt into the hole in the ground Zora created using his 'Ash Magic'.
"Hang on now." Rhya suddenly appeared via a portal and grabbed Asta by the arm. "I'm not letting you get away. I'm gonna have you come with me to see Licht. You're gonna return that Grimoire and those swords to Licht."
"Zora." Asta tossed Mereoleona to Zora before Rhya pulled him into the portal. "Take care of Captain Mereoleona."
With Mimosa's group...
"Mimosa?" Asta blinked, Rhya dropping him into the room. "Who the heck did this to you?"
"Hold it." the possessed Klaus voiced. "I will not allow you to free that descendant of criminals."
"You can't be serious." Asta recognized the familiar magic aura emitting from Klaus and Hamon. "Not you guys too. Yuno?" he breathed in disbelief, seeing his best friend was also elf-possessed.
