How much time had passed? It felt like barely any, but it had been at least an hour, maybe even two. At least that's how Anna had summarised it, not that she had been paying a lot of attention given her sister's condition and that Mothra had taken them to the coast at another section of the island and then flown off with what had been Godzilla hanging beneath her, the silk she had laid over him making it easier for her to carry the titan out to sea, though where the group did not know.

And Cthulhu? In the time after he had dealt with Godzilla, the behemoth god had returned to the group after going back to his lair with the frozen piece of Godzilla in his hand, having melted the ice around it. Back at his previous, but by no means small, size from when they had first encountered him, he had given them a piece of one of Godzilla's dorsal plates. When asked why by the twins, he had told them to give it to Elsa when she had woken up [she was still passed out at this point] and said it would be proof that she had done what the world needed her to do. Then he left, taking Belvera with him, heading back in the direction of the lair.

Sometime later, once Mothra had taken them all to the coast with Godzilla, Elsa had begun to stir. Then, with a sudden jolt as if hit with a burst of electricity, she shot up with a yell, her chest heaving, eyes darting around frantically, her mind racing. The ground around her had frozen, causing the others to jump back in fear that they were going to be turned into statues. The Arendelle queen hoped that everything she had seen, the cries of Godzilla in pain, her own anguish had all been a bad nightmare, that it had been an illusion, something similar to what she had seen earlier. Somehow, Godzilla had to have gotten away, to have fled into the sea and he was now out there somewhere, hiding, waiting for her to find him.

Reality, however had quickly dawned upon her when she saw his frozen remains on the ground nearby and she broke down and turned away, unable to look at what she had done. Anna hugged her and tried to console her elder sibling, but she took could not contain her own grief at seeing her sister like this. The others had not fared much better; the twins looking downcast and Sven nuzzling a saddened Kristoff. Though they had known already the fatal outcome of what had happened – seeing it was a big giveaway – the reaction of Elsa had made it hit home much more than they expected.

Mothra too felt melancholic. She wanted to help earlier, but the suddenness of the assault and the fear Cthulhu put in her made her too afraid to stand up to him, something he had been like since the fall of Mu. The cries of the human rang in her ears as she took Godzilla's body and, grunting under the strain of his size, carried him out to sea. Whether Elsa was watching them disappear into the distance, she had no idea, but she could only imagine the distraught expression and the grief in her heart.

That had been about ten minutes ago. Elsa now stood in a clearing between a cliffside and the jungle some fifty feet behind them, staring out emotionlessly at the sea as if searching for the titans, or maybe she was trying to find out where Godzilla would be now. No doubt resting in peace – rather ironic given how he had come to an end – somewhere on the ocean floor. A slight breeze rushed past her, making her messy braid, and cut shoulder she had sustained from being flung through the air, blow in the wind, but she paid it no mind. The world around her was but a blur, a void outside the bubble in which she was all alone in.

I could have saved him!

She could have. She should have refused, she should have interfered and protected Godzilla, not allow him to die. He had saved her before, and now she could not return the favour. She had failed.

No. I can't save him. But …

A feeling arose within her, coursing through her veins, surging with an unmatched fury. Her brow furrowed, that darkening feeling added with dark thoughts clouding her mind. Her breathing deepened, coming out as heavy breaths of anger. It was as if before her she saw before her the one who caused all this, the one who had brought this amount of pain and grief to her.

Cthulhu!

The very name made her fists clench, her teeth gritting and even baring slightly akin to an animal facing off against a predator or a rival. Her blue eyes seemed to glow with a rising anger, hell-bent on laying them on the one who had inflicted this pain on her. Snow began to circle in her hand, twisting and turning between her fingertips as if it had a life of its own. A certain familiar charged feeling too crackled away in her hands like a beast fighting against its confinement, urging, raring to be released into its foes.

I'll avenge him! I'll … I'll …

The wind began to pick up and sharp icicles began to sprout from the ground around her, each one a manifestation of her power, her scorn, her desire to seek revenge. She was like Hera wanting to exact punishment on Hercules, a queen wanting to deliver justice. A titan wanting to deliver the pain that had been dealt to her. She could see Cthulhu being struck down, ice shearing through his body, his reactions slow, his body defenceless against her and her power.

I'll … I'll …

"Elsa!"

She snapped out of her thoughts and the void dissipated and she once again found herself back on this island in some far-off part of the world with …

Elsa looked over her shoulder to see her sister standing nearby holding a terrified expression; Kristoff just behind her, holding her arm in case he had to pull her away. The ground around the queen's feet was frozen solid and the air was noticeably cooler compared to before. The twins were standing nearby with Sven, all three looking on concerned at what they thought was going to be a repeat of what happened earlier on.

Anna took a tentative step forward. "A-are you okay, Elsa?" she asked worryingly.

A tense silence passed between them for a moment or two as if Elsa had not understood those words. Then, she took a deep breath and composed herself. Keep it calm. I'll need it.

"I'm fine," she replied in a manner that was firm and direct, though Anna could see through it, but Elsa paid it no mind. "Is Mothra on her way back?" she asked the twins, focusing on them as she walked past her sister and her boyfriend, stopping just before them. Her eyes were firm, holding an aura that was akin to a creature trying to assert its dominance over others of its group.

Moll and Lora exchanged nervous looks, but responded truthfully. "We do not know, Queen Elsa," Moll replied. "It could be a while, or it could be moments before she returns."

Elsa nodded. "Very well." Her manner resigned and matter-of-fact. "And the nearby huge river leads back into the island near his lair, yes?" she pressed them.

They both nodded, their faces quizzical.

"Kristoff, Anna!" Elsa said, turning to them. "When she returns, you and the others go with her back to the nest and wait there with Olaf. I will be back soon."

"What! Why? Where are you going?!" Anna exclaimed.

Elsa paused for an apprehensive moment. "I'm going after Cthulhu. He'll pay for what he's done."

"Elsa, no!" Kristoff exclaimed, Anna rushing over to her and standing in front her to stop her from going any further. "No, you aren't!"

Elsa sighed, the irritation at her sister's worry for her palpable. "Anna, I will be fine. I can deal with him."

"No, Elsa, its dangerous," her redheaded sister replied.

"So was coming here, and so will the world if we leave Cthulhu alive."

The twins gasped in unison. Sven stared in shock, as did Kristoff and Anna, unable to fully accept what they had just heard. If Elsa really meant what she said, the outcome would be a nightmare.

"Do not try and stop me!" Elsa said, her voice calm, but firm.

She went to walk past Anna, but her sister grabbed her arm firmly and stopped her. Elsa rounded on her with a look of anger.

"Anna, let go!"

Anna held her gaze, glaring back at her elder sibling, their eyes just slightly different in height by a few inches, not to mention the title difference, but the Arendelle princess held firm.

"No, I won't!"

It was as if someone had slapped her out of the blue. What! Did she just disobey her?! Who was she to do something like that?! How dare she! She was the queen, and also the elder sister!

"Anna, let go of me!" Elsa said, gently grabbing her sister's arm with her other free hand, gaze firm.

"No, Elsa!" was the copper haired woman's reply. "I'm not letting you go!"

Another surge of anger, not irritation or annoyance but anger swept through the queen, but she kept her cool, not wanting to hurt her sister. She knew that her little sibling was just looking out for her, but there was no need.

"Anna, I will be fine," she told her, trying to be gentle and promising. "I will back before you know it."

"And what if you're not?!" Anna's fingers subtly pressing down on her sister's arm as she took a step closer. "Elsa, you don't know what you're going up against! You saw how dangerous he is!"

"Well, I have my powers to protect me. Cthulhu will not be able to stop me."

Kristoff stepped forward. "Elsa, I think Anna is right. Plus, the twins have told us he's the 'father' god of their homeland, and with what just happened it should be telling that there's a reason for him to have such a name."

The queen looked at the ice harvester disapprovingly and a momentary thought of her spraying him with ice ran through his mind.

"This is between me and my sister, Kristoff," she replied icily. "Not you, so kindly don't interfere."

Kristoff was taken aback by her words; she acted like he was a nuisance! What was wrong with her! He was just trying to help and make her see some sense.

Anna gave her sister a firm shake. "Well, your sister is telling you that you're being irrational!" she hissed. "How can you be so ungrateful?!"

Elsa glared at Anna, her eyes seemingly glowing, her lips locked in a pout that covered her clenched jaw. She shook Anna off her.

"Ungrateful?" she repeated, holding her gaze. "Anna, let me remind you of these things. One: Godzilla has saved us multiple times in the past. If we do nothing, then we've just turned out backs on him after he saved Arendelle as well as the whole world. He saved me, in case you've forgotten."

Anna went to speak, but Elsa held up a finger, silencing her. "I'm still speaking. Now, for two: I am the queen, and I know what to do and I know what is right. And three: who's to say that Cthulhu will not be a menace if we do nothing? He killed Godzilla, and he will no doubt do it to others if he decides that they are a threat. I am just doing what Godzilla would do!"

The others stared at her in disbelief. Anna's head shook a little. No this-this isn't happening!

"So you think you're some kind of Titan?!" she said. "You think just because you have your ice powers, you can put on this new personality and take on something practically god-like?!" she snapped at Elsa, making her flinch as her voice – and temper – rose. "You're deluded, Elsa! I thought you were better than this!"

"So what do you propose we do, Anna?!" Elsa snapped back, making the twins and Kristoff flinch a little in surprise at her sudden attitude change. "That we just go home and leave this an open wound?! That we go on with our lives knowing that the one who saved us is gone?!" Her face was flushed with emotion, her pale skin red with anger. "And-and that the one who did this, we j-just let him roam free?!"

"So, you want to throw your life away for revenge? Is that it?!" Anna argued back. She went to say something more, but Kristoff stopped her and gave her a pleading look, not to press further and exacerbate things. Calm down, Anna. It'll cause the same reaction.

The princess took a deep breath to compose herself. "Elsa," she spoke, looking up at her sister, her voice trying to be calm. "I don't blame you for being angry and feeling the way you do about them. I'm the same! But you can't just throw your life away. You saw everything that happened. And I-I don't want the same to happen to you."

Elsa sighed and rested a hand on her shoulder. "Anna, it won't. I promise you." She soothed, trying to ease her sister's anxiety, her fear.

"Then you won't go?" Her eyes lit up with hope.

"I have to. It's for our own good, and no doubt the world as well."

The princess just did not respond, but stared open mouthed at the queen. Her external look appeared at a loss for words, but inside she was overwhelmed with emotion. She wanted to cry, scream, shout, curse, anything. How can you say this like it's nothing?! How can you be so blind to everything?! Are you that selfish?!

Elsa went to pull her sister in for a hug, but Anna shook her off and turned away, hot tears streaming down her face as she chocked back a series of sobs. Each one felt like a knife in Elsa's heart. She wanted to comfort her, make her see that her decision was good. It was the next right thing … right?

The pitter-patter of a pair of feet reached her ears as Moll and Lora walked over. "Queen Elsa, let us talk some sense into you," Moll spoke.

Elsa sighed irritably, but Kristoff gave her a pleading look. Elsa, listen to them!

"Well, what can you tell me? How to beat him?" She said.

Moll spoke, her tone direct and to the point. "Father is too powerful to be beaten Elsa, even by the likes of you. Godzilla was not able to do so. How can you think that you will make a difference?"

"Godzilla was taken by surprise," Elsa pointed out. "But I won't be. I'm ready for him and I won't go down so easily."

"It's too dangerous!" Lora interjected.

"So is not doing anything!"

"How is it, Elsa?!" Kristoff butted in, completely at a loss at how the queen of his homeland, one who was thought to be a good and intelligent and wise ruler, could be so foolhardy.

Elsa rounded on him. "Kristoff, stay out of this!" she growled.

"No, I won't, Elsa. We're trying to stop you from dying!"

"I won't die!" Elsa half-shouted, her powers coming to fruit, her hands crackling loudly, things which the others noticed, but they did not want to give up. They had to keep pressing!

Anna turned, her face wet with tears, but her expression firm. "Elsa, you will die out here." She marched over to her sister, getting right up into her face. "That's a fact, Elsa! You! Will! Die!" she accentuated each word as if it were a hiss.

"Anna, I can protect myself. And before you try and interrupt, no you, nor the others will be going with me! No, Anna! I can't allow it to happen." Elsa seethed angrily. "I can't let you get hurt."

Anna almost snorted. Oh, now she's being funny. Odd time!

"Oh, so now you care about me!" she said sarcastically. "What the hell do you think you're doing now?!" She shouted vehemently. "What do you think you're doing to Arendelle, to us!" she waved her hands at the others, then pointed at herself. "To me!" A pause, hoping, wanting, begging that her words would sink in.

Elsa went to speak, but Anna beat her to it.

"I'm your fucking sister, Elsa!" she almost screamed at her, emotion firing out at all full blast, the sound causing the others around her to flinch and even sending getting a flock of birds on the trees nearby to take flight.

Elsa looked at her younger sibling, pained. Within, some small fragment of her wanted to agree. She had to be right, this was going to be dangerous. And there was no one to save her, no Godzilla to bring her back if she went out. This would not be a repeat of the Southern Isles against Battra and Megaguirus.

No! It would be dangerous, yes, but Anna was not seeing things from her perspective, and from the long-term viewpoint. What if Cthulhu came after them? Arendelle would be finished, and they would be back to square one again. And even if not him, other Titans out there surely would rise and wreak havoc, and Godzilla had so far been the only one to stop them. The Kraken. Battra. Megaguirus. He had stopped them, and now with Cthulhu and possibly others, who was going to stop them?

Plus, we can't just forget him, it'll be like leaving a mocking legacy. He wouldn't want me to let this go. And I won't!

Anna walked over and grabbed, not put her hands, but grabbed Elsa's dress by the scruff of her neck as if hoping to physically hold her in place. Tears flowed and sobs choked out between weak breaths. She would not let her! She had to keep her here.

"Elsa, please!" Anna sobbed "Please, you're the only link I have to Mama and Papa!" she begged, burying her head into her shoulder. "You're my family. I-I-I can't let you die."

Elsa placed her hands comfortingly on Anna's, trying to give her a reassuring look. "Anna, nothing will happen to me. And if it does, Arendelle will look to you."

Anna said nothing but took a step back, releasing her grip on Elsa, her mind blank, at a complete loss of words. Kristoff was beyond shocked to say the least, as were Sven and the twins. All stared at Elsa's face, which held a look that was resigned to fate, and asserting it. I've made up my mind, and that's it.

SMACK!

Kristoff jumped back a pace. The twins gasped. Sven went wide-eyed.

Elsa let out a pained noise as her hand raced to her cheek, a red mark blotched across it, a stinging pain running across her face. Anna stood, teeth clenched, eyes shining, blazing with fury, her hand coming back to her side as she stood up straight again.

"You are nothing but a selfish, uncaring, horrible bitch!" All eyes fell on her. Elsa looked too shocked and hurt to reply. She even looked like she wanted to burst into tears.

Anna pointed a finger at her, face like a snarling animal. "You can't ever see the light!" She poked Elsa hard in the chest when indirectly mentioning her to accentuate her emotion, and Elsa's breaking heart. "When you froze Arendelle, you ran away and I had to come get you! When the Kraken came, you threw yourself off a mountain and nearly died fighting it and Ebirah with Godzilla and Varan. When I wanted to help you in Arendelle and here, you acted like you didn't want me here even when I was trying to look out for you! When you tried to fight Megaguirus alone, I almost lost you! You almost died!" She jabbed at Elsa hard, making her wince slightly.

In another time, Anna would berate herself for being harsh, so mean, so cruel. But here, it was warranted! It had to be said! Every point, every word, every piece of emotion she hurled at her sister, it was all the frustration, the anger, the fury that had so far been stopped, been repressed and held back, all of it was coming out. All her vehemence and venom, her sadness and frustration, her desperation. Even one might call it a bit of hate. All of it was coming out.

Anna wiped her eyes, inhaling and exhaling deeply through gritted teeth. If this is it, then so be it!

"You're not the queen," She spoke with a resigned tone, accepting this is what it had come to. "You're not my sister." Anna turned her back on her sister, sniffing as she looked out to sea. "Go away!"

Everyone stared. Kristoff's mouth fell open, as did Lora's. Moll and Sven looked nervously from Anna to Elsa.

Elsa looked on, that anger, that confidence in her eyes fading. Inside, her sister's words felt like they were strangling her heart, squeezing it as it cried out in anguish, screaming for help. What had happened had been bad.

But this. This was her worst nightmare.

She looked down at the ground for a moment, wanting to say something, anything. I'm sorry, Anna! Please, I won't go! You're right!

No. It was too late.

With a small nod, she looked up at the back of her sister, then at the others once more.

"Goodbye, Anna."

And with that, she turned and power walked away into the jungle to reach and then follow the river back inland, hoping to get out of earshot as quickly as possible. When she had disappeared into its green depths, she let out a cry one would emit when having lost a family member.

Only, in a way much worse than death.

Snow fell around her, ice raced up the trees and across the ground, turning it into a mini-winter landscape like those of the North Mountain. She thumped a tree, letting out a loud sob, tears flowing from her eyes like a waterfall.

It's my fault! It's all … it's all my fault.

What could she do now? Part of her wanted to go back, beg for Anna's forgiveness, for her to take her back. She'd do anything! Give her anything, anything just to have her baby sister, her family back once again. After her parents, Anna was all she had.

She stopped and tried to compose herself. No. It's too late. I've ruined it.

Wiping away her tears, which were replaced quickly by new ones, she stood up. Where Godzilla failed, I hope to prevail.

She continued on her journey, something in the back of her telling her it would be her last.

Before her was an unknown, a black hole, an abyss. And she had fallen right into it.
