Chapter 9—YOU ARE NOT MY DAD!
Gordons POV
"I want to move out," Bella said.
"Move out? Of the house?" I asked.
"Yes Coach, I am not a Bombay. I am a Banks plain and simple," Bella said.
I sighed heavily before I said, "Bella we need to sit down and talk about this, you, me, and your mom. But now is not the time to do it."
"No, I am moving out," Bella said.
"Over my dead body you are," I said.
"Coach please, YOU ARE NOT MY DAD!" Bella said and then she took off. I stood there in shock for two or three minutes. I didn't know what to do. By the time I got out to the parking lot, Bella was gone.

Adam's POV
We stayed at the hospital until it was almost supper time. Dad said we would grab a quick bite to eat and then head back to Eden Hall for practice. Grandpa and Grandma MacKay were going to take Baby Hans for the evening and get him fed, cleaned, and put into bed. Probably a little early so he could catch up on some sleep. He only slept a little under an hour yesterday at the Daycare after I dropped him off. And was the first one to fall asleep in his lunch and the last one to wake up. I felt bad for the little guy. Bella didn't come back with Dad at all.
"Where's Bella?" Mom asked upon Dad's return to the NICU nursery.
"I don't know she took off," Dad said.
"Ten to one she is heading for Edina," Ollie said.
"No bet," Gunnar and I said.
Bella didn't show up at practice that night.
"Banks where is Ace?" Coach Orion asked.
"I don't know, and I am not a Banks anymore, I am a Bombay, remember?" I asked.
"Right," Coach Orion said.
I knew what was coming down the pike for Bella, she was going to be benched for tonight's game against Virginia. This was going to be bad. They are a tough team, with Bella beached and Gunnar not playing they were going to be tougher. Charlie had been bumped up to first line on the left wing since November 23rd and with Bella being on the bench, Guy was bumped up to first line on the right. Which in turn bumped Russ and Dwayne from third line to second line and Simmons and Wofford from fourth line to third.
Bella did show up to school this morning, wearing a nice dress shirt and skirt, that I knew she borrowed from mom, I mean Seraphina. Phillip dropped her off in what looked like a brand-new Mercedes.
"Nice to know that Phillip hasn't changed his taste in vehicles," I said to Bella after Philip pulled away.
"SHUT UP ADAM, I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU," Bella said to me, harsh.
"What did you do, borrow clothes from Seraphina?" I asked.
"I told you to SHUT UP!" Bella said again.
"Oh my God, BELLA!" Reese screamed; I rolled my eyes.
Bella smiled and then said, "Hey Reese."
"Oh, GGIRRLLL we definitely need to go shopping, because that skirt does not do much for you," Reese said, touching what Bella was wearing.
"It was the best that mom could do on short notice, I showed up just as they were sitting down to dinner last night, then it was bridge with your parents, the Larson's, and McGee's. Well, the women played bridge, the guys were downstairs watching the Raiders and Titans play football," Bella said.
"That was a good game, it's too bad Oakland lost," Portman said.
"Don't get me started," Fulton said.
"Anyway, you should've come over. We could have discussed your outfit for today. I am sure that I have something that does not represent the 1980's," Reese said.
"Reese I had to wear something that was business like, even the guys all have to wear ties," Bella said.
Reese looked at us and went "Oh."
I was pissed Bella was going over there that was like the third time that she had spent the night since before Thanksgiving. She was slipping back over to the Banks side. If we didn't do something quickly she was going to be gone forever.
"Let's go shopping after school today," Reese said.
"I can't, I have to go to Virginia for a game tonight. And so do you, you're a cheerleader. We are getting out for 7th and 8th period," Bella said.
"That's today?" Reese said.
"I don't like where this is going," Charlie said.
"Neither do I," I said.
The Varsity team and Cheerleaders were leaving on the 2:30 bus for Virginia, Minnesota. The JV, KWAR radio, Dr. Jonathan West and the Athletic director Dr. Wolford was getting on the 11:30 bus. Dean Buckley was driving up after school.
We heard most of the JV game on the radio going up to Virginia. The JV had blown the Freshman Virginia Blue Devils out of the water, with a final score of 7-2. They were on a roll this year. We lost in a Shootout thanks to Dwayne showboating.
"I am so tired," I said as I sat down next to Gunnar on the bus.
"Veah, vell vou can sleep on vhe vay back vo school," Gunnar said.
"Thanks, you're not going to do your homework?" I asked.
"No, can't get it done in vhe dark," Gunnar said.
I saw Bella get on the bus.
"Bella back here," Reese said.
"I don't like where this is going, they haven't been friends for almost 9 years and then all of the sudden they are best friends again," I said.
"I vould not vorry about Bella she has a good head on her shoulders she vill come vo her senses," Gunnar said.
Charlie sat down on the seat across from Gunnar and I, surprising me.
"Vou not going to sit with vour girlfriend?" Gunnar asked.
"And that tramp? Nope," Charlie said.
"Good," Gunnar said.
As the bus was leaving Virginia I said, "I've been thinking."
"Veah, about vhat?" Gunnar asked.
"About what I want to major in college," I said.
"I vought vou vanted to be an animal doctor," Gunnar said.
"Yeah, I did. But ever since Kelly was born I was wondering if maybe I would not want to go into neonatology, instead," I said.
"Adam a neonatologist? Isn't vhat going vo be a lot of vork?" Gunnar asked.
"Yeah, about 12 years of schooling what do you think?" I asked.
"Does the U even have a pre-med program?" Charlie asked.
"I don't know," I said.
"Twelve vears. Vhat a lot of schooling," Gunnar said.
"I know, I want to talk to Kelly's Doctor's maybe I could get an idea if I want to do that. What about you Gunnar, what do you want to do?" I asked.
"I don't have a choice. I vave vo do political science," Gunnar said.
"Political science? Why?" I asked.
"Vecause Father expects vhat out of vhe oldest son. Vo carry on vhe vraditions of the oldest son/father. My father majored in Political science, and I must major in political science. My father vants me vo run and be vhe president of Ísland someday. He says being Minister to foreign affairs vint vnough," Gunnar said as he ran a hand through this hair.
"I thought that you didn't want to go back to Iceland?" Charlie asked.
"I don't vut my father vants to be running for election at veast once," Gunnar said.
"I can't imagine doing that," Charlie said.
"I can," I said.
So, What do you think? Please take 5 minutes and leave a review! Thanks in advance!
