Chapter two
Summer 8
Sun light trickles in as it slowly crept through the cracks until it touched Dorie's skin. She begin to stir as she slowly got up and open her curtains, the sun slowly rises along the horizon. Dorie got ready for the day as she walked out, watering can and all. She made her way over to the row of sunflowers that have finally bloom. Their petals large and bright as the sun, the centers full of seeds. They stood at just about Dorie's height as she started to water them. As she finish them she made her way over to her little coffee plants, seeing that they have start to sprout small green leaves. She slowly poured the can as she gave every one of them a good drink. unbeknownst to her Hailey has come onto her form to ask her a question. She makes her way up behind Dorie and blurs "hey farmer Dorie, can I take some photos of your sunflowers?" With a yelp Dorie's body jerks up a bit as she drops the watering can and turns around, with a look of irritation. Hailey frowns as she stares with a sad expression "I'm sorry about that farmer Dorie, I didn't mean to startle you like that." Dorie bends down and picks up the can taking a deep breath "no it's alright, can you possibly give me a warning before you frighten me like that again?" Hailey giggles embarrassed as she mumble "ya I'm sorry about that" Dorie dusts the can off and smiles "and yes you may take photos of my sunflowers" Hailey excitedly goes over and begins to take photos of Dorie's sunflowers, she moves over and watches her as she continues to photograph. Dorie smiles as she offers "if you like you can take some home with you if you like?" Hailey's face lights up even more as she finishes up and picks a bouquet of sunflowers. "Thank you for letting me take pictures of your sunflowers farmer Dorie." Dorie looks over at her and smiles "anytime, I'm happy that you like them." Hailey glances over at the coffee plants smiling "I see that you're growing coffee as well." Dorie grins as she points at them "yeah! I was a barista back in Zuzu city and I wanted to try to grow some for myself." Hailey glances over at Dorie watching her expression as she raises an eyebrow until it hits her. With a smirk on her face Hailey slips out "Dr.Harvey would like that." Dorie grabs as her collar as she begins to sweat, cheeks flushes she mumble "W…Why would you say that??" Hailey continue to grin as she whispers "oh no reason." She begins to make her way out of the farm, leaving Dorie in her flustered state. Dorie takes a deep breathe as she begins to make her way into town heading to the clinic, until all of a sudden Shane walks over and grumbles out "hey farmer Dorie we got ourselves a problem" Dorie stops in her tracks and sighs "Shane I swear to Yoba, if this is because I said hi to you I swear…." Shane interjects as he move to face Dorie head on "no, but please stop doing that. Anyway jas is saying she wants to become a witch because of you." Doris stares for a moment until she mumble out "that's really fucking cute actually" Dorie sighs as she pulls out a witch hat and hands it to Shane "Here give this to her" Dorie bids Shane farewell as she makes her way to the clinic. Shane makes it back to jas and yells "hey jas!" Jas runs over quickly as Shane continues "Farmer Dorie got you a gift" Jas looks at Shane until he reveals a witch hat. She smiles brightly as she takes it and puts it on "See! I told you she'd make me a witch!"
As Dorie finally makes it to the clinic she opens the door "Hey Dr.Harvey, I got your letter in the mail." She smirks a little as she placed her hand over her chest "finally gonna seduce me Doc?" Harvey, leans against the counter as he placed one elbow on top and points his finger at her "If by *seduce* you mean getting your annual check-up, then yes." he takes his clip board and has a look "It says here that you haven't had a check-up in over 2 years. I believe it's time to get this done sooner rather than later." Dorie walks in as she just shrugs her elbows, her hands go up as her eyes shut "it may not be a candle lit dinner, but I can't argue with that Dr.Harvey" She follows him to the back into one of the rooms, the smell hits her nose like it's just been freshen in. Harvey goes and looks over at her as he says for her to take a seat. She sits down on this soft chair as he sits in his stool, he rolls up close to her as he sets the board down on the bed. "Alright it seems you're more comfortable with me now," he glances at her as he rest has hand on the side of her chair. She looks at him straight in the eyes as she smiles responding "well… you said we're friends now… I'm wondering if you'd like to get closer?" He smile as he stares back at her "okay, how about later tonight we meet up at the saloon and I'll get us drinks? My treat." Her smile grows bigger as she points at him "I won't say no to a free drink" as they blush the feelings towards one another get a bit stronger, not realizing that maybe.. just maybe they'll become more than just friends. Dorie grins ear to ear as she pops up on her heels and makes her way to the door, Harvey follows and watches Dorie leave the clinic. She turns making her way over the Pierre's, checking out the products until someone comes over "Hey farmer Dorie." She glances over and flashes a smile to Abigail "oh, hey Abigail." Abigail leans up against the wall as she holds her arm "you seem to be in a good mood?" Dorie grins, her eyes close happily, her voice a bit more higher in excitement "Dr.Harvey asked me to get a drink with him at the saloon with him tonight~" Abigail gasps as she looks at Dorie " WAIT! You're telling me Dr.Stick-in-the-mud asked you out?! Now that an achievements right there." Abigail glances out at the store as she whispers "don't look now, but he strolled in." Dorie glances at the direction Abigail is looking at, she puts her hands on her hips as she whisper almost to herself "There he is…. him and that slutty little outfit of his." Dorie softly smiles as Abigail looks at her with a frown for a few moments before she squint her eyes and replies "For a farmer you don't touch a lot of grass huh?" After her conversion with Abigail Dorie makes her way out as she heads back home to get ready for Harvey. Abigail quickly takes out her phone and opens her group chat named *The ass squad* she typing quickly "hey guys! Guess what I just found out!" In response both Sebastian and Sam ask her "what?" She type back "Dr.Harvey finally asked out the farmer. They're getting drinks together later at the Saloon." Sebastian types in response "So… we're snooping right? Tonight at the Saloon?" Sam stares as he smiles "Yo mom, you own me 5!" Jodi stares at him with her hands on her sides "that's either for the Doctor and the farmer or Sebastian and Abigail…" Vincent looks up at his mom sad and blurs out "Farmer Dorie said she was gonna eat me." As the day grows to a nice sunset Harvey makes his way to the Saloon, he adjusts his tie as he walks over to Gus. "Hi Gus, I'm meeting up with Farmer Dorie here tonight. I need to open up a tab please." Gus slowly wipes the glass within his hand "Ya finally giving up on those *doctor/patient* boundaries?" Harvey begins to sweat a little as he response "oh, it's just a friendly thing. Doctors can be friendly with patients." Gus sighs as he looks down "I'm the only one in town who doesn't call you *Dr.Harvey.* I understand boundaries, but you build walls… Ironically you must be the most unhealthiest person in Pelican town. I know Dr.Harvey has patients but does Harvey have friends?" Harvey's eyes sadden a little "Gus, it isn't that easy…" Gus quickly fires back "It's also not that hard." Harvey looks down a bit as he clenches his hand into a fist "Look, She'll be here soon. I'll take a whiskey tonight… please." Just like magic made her appear she walks in, Sporting a different out all together, her eyes meet Harvey's as she waves at him "Hey, Dr.Harvey." Harvey glances back at Gus one last time before turning his attention to Dorie, he smiles bright as he holds his whiskey. "Farmer Dorie! Hello. You changed your clothes?" Dorie walks on over as she puts her hand in her pocket, the other around her purse strap "Well my other clothes were dirty so I decided to change into something nice" her eyes move over to meet Harvey's gaze "kinda lame right doc?" He smiles softly as his expression soften "Not at all, I think it looks nice…. You look nice" Dorie stares back a hint of red scattered across her check. Her heart beats faster as her eyes never leaves Harvey's. She could stare at them all night if he'd let her. she moves her hand up to tuck a hair behind her ear "wow, thank you…. I wanted to look nice tonight." In response Harvey begins to blush, it spreads to his neck and ears. Dorie glances between Harvey and Gus "oh, let's get us a table! Gus can you please make her a drink?" Gus glances at him as he mumbles "sure *Doc*" Dorie moves her hand up and grabs her drink, while they make their way over to a table and sit down. Harvey begins their conversation "So… it appears you've been busy on the farm" she smiles as she folds her hands "ya, it's kinda fun." He replies "did you do any farming before moving here?" Her eyebrows falter as she smiles "oh no…" she gently twirls her hair "I actually was a barista back in Zuzu city." He smiles brightly as he exclaims "thats actually amazing! I love a good coffee. When I was in med school it was such a splurge to get a nice coffee each day before class." She smiles as she response "Well a little birdie told me that you enjoy a good cup. How about I make you some" he grins as he raises an eyebrow "I won't say no to a free drink" she smiles back as she blushed a little. "How about another drink?" He smiles "okay." Dorie gets up as she moves hand back against the chair and look at him "your drinking whiskey right? How do you take it?" He smile softly "I take my whiskey neat" She comes back and hands him another whiskey, he takes a sip "So I've been curious about the whole witch thing, tell me more about it." she holds out her hand "alright give me your hand." He puts his hand on top of hers, she gently looks at it as she guides her finger along it "my big thing is fortune telling. My cards are at home, but I used to read palms." She looks down as she begins to read his palm "huh looks like you've been a bachelor for a while now… your life line is long, but your love fades…. It looks sad… but you're changing. Yeah, you'll be happy in life…" she stares at his hand has she begins to have a vision. It's a bit fuzzy but she can see Harvey and what appears to be a little girl. He move down and swoops her up and hold her close. He looks to be happy as he kisses the top of her head, he smiles softly as the sky grew dark, which in turn makes him puts her to bed. In the back she can see another small bed. The vision fades as she glances at Harvey's face. She looks worried as she moves her hand away "oh fuck I'm sorry! I ruined the mood…." Harvey snaps out of it as his expressions changes to worried "No! No, I'm sorry. I was just thinking…." he takes her hand and squeezes it "I'd like to get to know you better, Dorie" He puts his other hand over here and looks into her eyes "let's put aside our doctor-patient relationship." Dorie's expression switches from disbelief to a smile "I think I'd like that do-… Harvey." As they both squeeze each other's hand, they can feel the heat radiated off one another. Their heart speed up, as things are changing between them quickly. Where this rollercoaster of emotions will go.. nobody knows. She closes her eyes "that would be lovey Harvey." Unknown to them Abigail, Sebastian, and Sam watch from the other room. Each of them wearing a fake mustache, Sam speaks up "My mom wants me to tell the farmer to stop telling Vincent thats she'll eat him." They look at Sam as Sebastian replies "that's fucking hilarious" Abigail agrees "ya that's funny Sam." As night falls Harvey and Dorie walk, they both go their separate ways. Dorie walks home slowly watching as the stars come out, thinking about the events that just occurred.
