Nico

We left the Pu'uhonua O Hōnaunau National Historical Park and then walked to Honaunau Bay, which was two minutes away.

Honaunau Bay is one of the most famous diving spots in Kona, since the corals there are relatively healthy and the amount of fish and turtles is immense. Other added benefit to the spot is the easy access from the coast.

In addition, Honaunau has shallower areas and deeper ones, so you have snorkeling for all kinds of tastes, at least that's what my mother said on the way here.

My parents go to an establishment that is close to the beach and come back dressed in a wetsuit and with snorkels in their hands.

"How long have you been planning this?" I ask my mother.

"We didn't plan anything. Will's parents were already going to do this tour. We just decided to join in."

I turn to look at Will, who's beside me.

"So you're to blame for this?" I ask, referring to all these trips.

Will fix the power of his gaze on me and licks his lips, which makes me gulp as my eyes follow the movement of his tongue. I then force myself to look into his eyes, but the smile that graces his face tells me my reaction didn't go unnoticed.

"No, my parents are," he says.

I roll my eyes, ignoring my racing heart.

"Anyway," my mother continues with a dreamy look on her face as she looks at the landscape "I've always wanted to come here so I bought the wetsuit in Kailua, I would have got one for you too if I didn't already know your answer would be no."

"You know me well," I answer instantly.

"I raised you, boy. It's a pity though. It's so beautiful here, you would like it."

"Maybe next time," I answer, and my mom sends me a skeptical look.

"What about you, Will?" my mother asks.

"I've been here before. How about you and my parents enjoy the diving and I keep Nico company?"

"Are you sure?"

"Absolutely."

"Alright then."

Will's parents were already in wetsuits too. They had come back when my mother was talking to us.

We follow our parents to the seashore and watch as they prepare to enter the water. Will keeps close to me, but remains silent.

I cannot avoid looking at him discreetly, he has his eyes closed and hands in his pockets, he then takes a deep breath and opens his eyes absorbing the vision of nature around us, when he turns to look at me I divert quickly focusing my eyes on the sea.

We walk along the coast, on the rocks. The water is crystal clear and on the shallow side I can see several fish and corals with varied shapes, colors and sizes.

Will accompanies me in silence. I don't even need to turn around to know he's there. I can feel it.

After my conversation with Hazel, I couldn't help but think of all the unanswered questions about Will and me, but despite all the questions with no answers, for now we somehow fit together, so the answers can wait a little bit.

We spent a lot of time exploring the beach, watching the fish and the coral. We even saw our parents in the water. They put their cell phone in waterproof cases and are taking pictures.

Suddenly I feel Will's hand entwining mine, a shiver passes through me with the touch. I look at our joined hands and then look at him, the questioning implicit in my expression.

"Come with me," he asks with a smile on his face as he pulls me towards the car.

I let myself be dragged away by him, not finding in me the urge to protest or to let go of his hand. It feels good. It feels right.

Will lets go of my hand to open the trunk of the car, I watch him do it containing the urge to kiss him that surged from the moment he took hold of my hand.

"What are you doing?" I ask.

Will takes a blanket from the trunk.

"I thought we could spread this blanket on the floor so we could sit and talk," he says. "Are you hungry? My mom prepared a picnic basket."

As I watch him speak, I can't stop thinking about kissing him, in that moment I decide that there is no reason to hold back since our parents are not around, so I approach, grab his face and pull him down for a kiss.

Will is surprised at first, but then he relaxes and kisses me back. He drops the blanket on the floor as he wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me closer to him.

It was meant to be just a peck on the lips, but I cannot resist the desire to deepen the kiss and feel Will's taste again, I wrap my fingers in his hair feeling the softness, I give a tug, which pulls out a moan of Will.

"Get a room," someone screams, but instead of separating, we just smile in the middle of the kiss.

We break the kiss after a while, but keep wrapped up in each other as we catch our breaths.

"What was that?" Will asks.

"A kiss."

"I know, but why?"

"Because I can. Now, to answer your previous question, no, I'm not hungry... anymore."

Will seems a little airy after the kiss and uncertain about how to continue the conversation.

"Okay, um... let's sit down then," he says, taking the blanket he had dropped on the floor.

We walk toward a secluded spot on the beach, a little bit away from other tourists, but close to where our parents were. I help Will lay down the blanket on the floor and we sit.

"Why didn't you go diving, too?" I ask him, still looking at the sea.

"I prefer your company," he answers.

The sincerity in his tone makes me look at him. His eyes are still facing the sea and he has a smile on his face.

"Yeah?"

"Yes, you are interesting."

I can't help the small smile that surges on my face, Will finally looks at me and the sunlight reflects in his eyes giving an incredible effect that I cannot help but stare, we are very close considering the size of the blanket, the sea breeze blows shaking our hair.

Will raises his hand to take a lock of hair out of my eyes.

"What do you like to do?" he asks.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, I know you like to read and... that's all."

"That's not all you know about me," I say.

"Of course it's not. But is the only thing I know for sure that you enjoy doing. Of course, I could guess that you like to study, but I'm not sure, because you don't have to like studying to study. I know you're good at ping-pong, so I assume you enjoy playing, and I know you like sprite and lemon ice cream."

I smile at his line of thought, and he continues.

"Now, if we're talking about what you don't like, the list is a bit bigger. You don't like sand, but something tells me this has changed a bit," he says, giving me that conceited look accompanied by his killer smile.

"What else?" I ask, interested.

"You don't like volcanoes."

"Who does?" I ask wryly.

"People generally find them interesting."

"They're very interesting… when they's far away from me."

Will laughs.

"Okay. Point. What else? Well… oh, you don't like waking up early," Will looks at me for confirmation.

"Again, who does?"

"Touche. And…. from your reaction to this trip, I'd say you're not much of a fan of nature."

"I like nature just fine. I just don't like volcanoes."

"And beaches."

"I like the scenery, I don't like the sand, and I don't like getting in the water."

"Why?"

"It's salty."

"Just for that?"

"Do you need more?"

Will laughs again and I can't help but smile.

"Like I said, you're interesting," he says.

"I can't say I agree."

"Well, let me be the judge of that. But you didn't answer."

"What?"

"What do you enjoy doing?"

"I'm very simple. I can let you down."

"That's impossible," Will says, gazing intensely at me.

I take a deep breath, trying to control my reaction.

"I like going out with my friends. I love movies, board and card games, comics, certain parties and ..."

"And?"

At that moment, our conversation is interrupted by the arrival of our parents. We were so engrossed in the conversation that we didn't even notice them coming out of the water.
