Chapter 5 An equal exchange.
"Bell Cranel" POV
"Hey, Bell we should get going." I raised my eyebrow at my Goddess after taking a shower after I finally in a week had my status updated I felt relieved and hungry I didn't have the chance to go and eat and now it was deep in the afternoon as the light in the sky called the moon started to dim.
"To?" I questioned as I raised my brow and she smiled resting her hands on her hips.
"Take invited us he said he made hotpot and that he wanted to see us," Hestia said blushing at the thought of hotpot.
I sweatdrop at the look my Goddess gave me before she had a question she spewed. "Hey, when did you meet Take in the first place I talked to him a little after work when he saw me." I hummed in response to her explanation and offered a reply through my words.
"I met Takemikazuchi-Sama when I left the guild." Hestia's eyes raised but did eventually go back down.
"Well, we should still get going Bell he's giving us free food." Hestia urged as I smiled at her silliness as I felt the need to revel in it for today.
"Alright, it would be good for me to go as well." I rubbed the back of my head sheepishly as she smiled.
"Well get ready then," Hestia said as I went to the entrance and grabbed my coat and shoes that I left on the hanger and floor respectively.
'Maybe I should get some new clothes too and shoes.'I wore rather battered shoes and the yellow coat jacket which I didn't know I was never that into fashion I just kind of had my sister do it all of them liked dressing me up and it was stressful sometimes it was just like rolling a dice in Mario Party and landing on a Bowser space.
I decided to grab my new Chokutō in order if I needed it outside because one of these days I knew it would keep me alive.
I leaned on the hard wall waiting for my Goddess as I looked up at the stone door that had to be pushed and pulled outside. While also the stairs leading to their stone steps are also broken apart.
'Oh my god how come I never noticed I need some money.' I cringed at the thought but sighed knowing I had to do this anyway.
'Hey Dad how did you do this? do you know how to replace flooring and doors?' I do wish I had my dad's experience with some type of construction all I had was a class about carpentry and enough welding too.
'Hmm, I need to make this place bigger too.' I look at the living room where Hestia came out of her normal attire and newly minted ponytail she made as she smiled at me.
"Alright, thanks for waiting let's go!" Hestia pointed towards the door before walking happily up the stairs and had to let me push the stone door.
'It's lighter than before.' I thought as I let one hand go and pushed it even stronger than before with all my body.
Hestia didn't seem to notice as she stepped through the crack of the wall while I pushed it all the way open to squeeze through myself and push the door back into place hiding the whole entrance in plain sight.
We walked through the streets of the dimly lighted Orario which was more dangerous than I had previously thought as me and Hestia walked past a random alleyway we heard a cry of pain. Hestia looked at me then at the alleyway and quickly went inside the alleyway to find the person. I sigh following her. 'She knew I would follow her that's why she gave me that look. Fuck we're going to be in a larger pain than I thought.' I walked a bit behind Hestia as we crossed another alleyway we saw a small girl with familiar clothes that were dirties but I saw on a screen. The girl was a pallium, oh great.
I saw Hestia about to move in but I moved my hand around her face and pulled her back into our hiding place behind a dumpster.
"Here I got it," I say to her as her eyes widened and I moved as I made my boots smack against the floor making sure to fire noise to catch their attention as I put Bell's Babyface on and spoke in a higher tone coincidently it being Bell's normal voice as when the adventurers saw me they sneered just looking at me as the girl who looked up at me looked me up and down quickly though I caught it fast.
"Beat it kid or else you'll end up like her or are you trying to be her Hero!" The adventurer who was I could tell an adventurer for a long time with his muscles that popped from his shirt and coat as he stood only slightly above me.
He laughed at me but I didn't let that get to me even if I wanted to crash my fist against his face I could pull out my Chokutō but they would react too quickly to that and pulling out my terrible knife then wouldn't pan out well either.
"What are you doing hitting this girl don't you know it's wrong to hit women," I said with the righteous attitude that I so disliked I almost puked I held on as the adventurers I didn't take notice in took their eyes off of the girl then to me.
"Oh look at this guy trying to play hero." They all cackled in laughter as I kept trying to restrain myself from crashing out based on them being stronger and more of them.
"I am warning you so please stop this you shouldn't hurt anyone." That made them laugh even more as they started to mock me even more openly as I heard a word cut through the air and laughter.
"I advise you to listen to the young man's words before something happens that you will soon regret." A golden-haired blonde with an impassive expression said as she walked with a couple of bags followed by a silver-haired girl who stayed quiet and looked at me. My eyes started opening wider as my mouth went dry.
The adventurers glared at the new arrivals and weren't deceived by the green maid dress and apron she was wearing they were experienced enough to see through that and see her potential strength. They sneered at her and then at me before turning.
"You're lucky hero-boy that elf came and saved you or you would have joined that girl." I stared at the leaving adventurers the small girl ran past me and I allowed her to as Hestia from the hiding place tried to reach out to grab her but was too late.
"What you did there was brave but not the smartest." The woman said walking towards me her face wasn't the impassive ness I thought it was before it was that of a wary glare.
"Now tell me what was that act about playing the hero because you're not cut out for the role." The blonde-haired woman said as the silver-haired one looked on with a more intriguing gaze.
"That…is none of your business." I turned to try to leave and start walking away I felt her wary eyes never leave me until I turned the corner Hestia following me.
"Hey, Bell what was that," Hestia asked me as I looked over to her.
"What was what." I realized my brow at her question as we were back on the route towards Take-Sama's place.
'His name is a bit of a mouthful.' I heard Hestia clear her throat before answering me.
"What was with you sounding like how you did back then and the look I…" I concluded the rest of what she said about remembering how I used to be or how Bell was as it was something I was unaware of how I could go back to sounding like Bell his higher-pitched voice was different completely. Although my voice didn't come with me only my voice dropped here and I think it will again sooner rather than later actually.
"Yeah. It's been a week since that day isn't it…so much has happened hasn't it." I looked over to Hestia who could only nod.
We have had quite the week me switching over to a new world having a spat with Hestia exploring the dungeon and killing a Minotaur and having the possibility to level up in two weeks overall of adventuring and one week of me being here. Me pissing off and lying to the Sword Princess and to me making some new friends finally.
"Hey, Goddess what have you have you been doing this last week in your free time." I looked over to Hestia as she thought over an answer her concentration led her to stick her tongue which made me close my eyes in disbelief but I opened them to see her response.
"I was just hanging out with Miach a lot of the time he's a really good friend and gave me an ear," Hestia said more subdued than I would normally expect from her but it made me smile knowing my judgment that Miach-Sama was a good choice in the end.
"Though he kept slipping all over near me!" Hestia complained though I could tell there was a little silliness in it.
"Like where?" I asked skeptically and Hestia made no reply but simply blushed and looked away.
I hummed suspicious over her actions as the more I hummed the more red her cheek that I could see went.
I pulled out my knife and examined the edge seeing my faint reflection as I heard Hestia's embarrassed yell.
"Bell!" She looked at me as look away.
"I'm not doing anything I'm just seeing my blade's edge to see if it needs to be sharpened." I closed my eyes patting myself on the back for the excuse until Hestia with dull eyes explained how I had already sharpened my weapons.
"Didn't you buy a whetstone and sharpen your blades." I kept my gaze away as I heard Hestia whine once more.
"So you were pulling it out for Miach Baka, baka, baka, baka, baka, baka, baka." She started to pummel her fist at my arm which kept pushing me slightly at the force of her hits but they didn't hurt really at all.
"It's not like I don't know he's a good person just that…he doesn't have a lot of money is all." I silently whispered as Hestia proceeded to chide me.
"Bell! Money isn't all you think about is it I know you think about it a lot but." Her words ended there as an uncomfortable silence then filled the area.
After a little while I gulped and broke the air."No, it's just we're in desperate need of money, and even so is Miach-Sama too." I looked over to Hestia who nodded in understanding.
"You're right about that and also nothing going on with me and Miach we're just friends!" Hestia protested but I just hummed once more.
'Just like my sisters completely impeccable.'

Hestia looked at the door or Shoji as she knocked on the door to have it slide to the left after a fair few seconds.
The door slid open to reveal Mikoto who with a smile greeted us. "Bell it's nice to see you and Hestia-Sama it's nice to meet you I'm Yamato Mikoto." Mikoto did a short bow.
"Ahh you must be Take's child it's nice to meet you Yamato," Hestia said and I looked at her with an eyebrow raised and she turned to me confused.
"Yamato's her name right," Hestia repeated as I sighed and Mikoto giggled at the Goddess.
"In the Far East people's names are said after their family's name so instead of my name being Bell Cranel it would be Cranel Bell." I look over to see Hestia taking in the information before nodding.
"Alright, it's nice to meet you Mikoto." Hestia wore a smile to which Mikoto waved us inside.
"We Should get inside now the food is only getting colder." Mikoto guided us through the estate towards the dining room where there was a large circle table with a multitude of chairs that were occupied with all the familia of Takemikazuchi-Sama and…
"Miach-Sama? Naaza? You guys are here too?" I look towards the two others sitting in chairs as they look up to me and greet me.
"We Bell…Hestia you've arrived and it seems you guys are doing better." I heard Miach-Sama stutter on Hestia's name and she started to turn slightly red but shook it off fast upon seeing my glance.
"Yeah, nice seeing you too Miach, oh and thanks for inviting us Take I appreciate it." Hestia beamed as she looked at the meal while Takemikazuchi-Sama looked slightly abashed.
"Well I wanted something special for the girl that leveled up and I made too much." He accentuated to all the food on the table around the pot of hotpot.
"Plus I would like to talk about the expedition you plan on going to the 18th floor," Takemikazuchi-Sama said which made Hestia pop up. "You're going on an expedition Bell?" Hestia looked up at me and I nodded.
"Yeah and we'll kick ass I'll tell you that and you have nothing to worry about" I patted her shoulders as I sat down on a chair next to Mikoto who had a chair open:
"Sup you got to level 2 huh." I looked at her as she smiled and nodded.
"Yes it took some time but I managed now with the dungeon I've been able to grow a lot faster than in the Far East where we trained against each other though the techniques I learned there are quite helpful." I nodded along thinking over what I'd seen of her fighting back at the battle with the Minotaur as I noticed she was a really good fighter.
"Well, I'm not going to be stuck at 1 just you wait. I'm going to blast right past you." I leaned in my chair and stared at her with only one eye to see her reaction.
"I doubt that you are still a newbie after all." She smiled at me when she saw my stumped expression.
"Harsh.." I pouted like a child and Mikoto giggled slightly.
"Alright we should eat the food's getting cold introductions can wait," Takemikazuchi-Sama announced as everyone agreed I grabbed the chopsticks and tried…
"Do you need help Bell," Mikoto asked as most people looked at me I gained a light red blush on my face in embarrassment before just nodding. Mikoto laughed at my misery and grabbed my hand to guide me through the steps. I initially flinched at how close she was willing to get and so did many of the people but I quickly let the thought pass as I grabbed hold of chopsticks the right way.
"Alright, thanks." I turn to concentrate on the food.

"Ahh" I groan out for the world to hear how satisfied I felt when I opened my eyes I saw Hestia talking to Miach-Sama and Take-Sama who did seem quite serious.
Take cleared his throat gaining everyone's attention. "Everyone I just wanted you all to know that an expedition towards the 18th floor will be very difficult especially since most of the people going are level 1 not only I but my fellow Gods believe in not just your strength but will to pull through. At 12 will you all meet at the Tower of Babel near the fountain with any you see fit but you have additional time to prepare. Me and Mikoto had Bourne extra supplies here, especially for everyone." Take-Sama's voice suddenly mentioned upgrades all looked toward all the boxes labeled with everyone's names.
"Lit," I spoke out loud breaking the serious air for just a second making me want to shrink in my seat.
Clearing his throat once more to continue. "There should be salamander wools for everyone there with extra equipment that would suit them." Take-Sama stopped as everyone suddenly cheered which made me jump slightly.
'Jeez, what the hell is with that.' I thought of the suddenness of it as I slowly relaxed and lay down slightly in my chair.

Tomorrow 6 am
Walking slowly me and Hestia sitting on a fallen pillar waiting for the other two that I promised to be with this morning.
My hand grasped the handle of my Chokutō as I imagined fighting someone with an actual blade other than a bloody stabbing match that ended with someone's lifeless body on the floor. I shook my head to clear my thoughts and I shook my Goddess to wake her up as I saw two figures approaching.
Mikoto and Takemikazuchi-Sama as I made out were walking towards us.
"Take's here I thought it was your other friend." Hestia looked at me as I sighed.
"It's probably why you're here too." She made a face of realization before nodding.
"I knew Take was smart." I heard her say as I simply rolled my eyes.
"You only say that because he feeds you aren't you." I skeptically looked at Hestia who looked away but only gained more of my ire as Takemikazuchi-Sama and Mikoto walked closer.
"Bell, Goddess Hestia I thought we would show up early but I guess not." Mikoto looked me over quickly to see my Falna paper in my hand.
"So it is you Bell I had a feeling when Mikoto wouldn't tell me who she was training with it was going to be with you." I tilted my head at Take-Sama in confusion,
"And why's that Take-Sama?" I heard Take-Sama's chuckle.
"Like Goddess like a child, I suppose." He finished his chuckle with a smile before becoming more serious.
He cleared his throat indicating that the old conversations had nothing to do with this one as Hestia back straightened.
"Now do you know who you guys are showing such personal information to," Takemikazuchi-Sama asked me and Goddess.
"I have no idea yet Bell says we can trust her," Goddess said making me smile at her trust in me.
"Though that kinda worries me." I take it back I take it back.
"Well, Mikoto do you trust this person." Take-Sama looked at his child as she thought about it and nodded.
"Yes she may be our age but she's a good friend even if a blabber mouth sometimes." Mikoto looked at her God unyielding which made the God back down himself.
"Alright, I'll trust your word Mikoto." Takemikazuchi-Sama nodded at his child who nodded back.

After a bit tense couple of minutes with Hestia having fallen by leaning back on the fallen pillar we now sat on Takemikazuchi went to help Hestia who almost started to cry.
Takemikazuchi looked at me as if waiting for me I just winked at him and his eyebrow raised just a bit before sighing. Mikoto took the place Hestia sat prior.
"Are you ready for the expedition Bell?" I turn to her and smile.
"Sometimes I think I'm over my head but I think I'm going to be alright I mean my stats can allow me to get there with a party so I'm sure e can make it." I nudged my elbow at her with a smile and she did it right back and we burst into slight laughter.
"Well look who's here," I remarked pointing at the figures coming in the distance though one of them faster than the others as one of them shouted.
"Hey Bell! Mikoto! I didn't think you guys would come early!" The voice of the blonde-haired elf who had just reached them yelled and waved.
I dropped down landing on the floor followed closely behind Mikoto as we walked toward Lefiya.
"Nice to see you so cheerful at the start of the day," I said to her and she just smiled. Her smile turned slightly to a shocked expression upon seeing our gods walk into view.
"Oh, I should have expected that," Lefiya muttered defeated as a voice behind her called out to her scolding her.
"I told you Lefiya the knowledge of someone's Falna isn't very easily shared. So you must be Hestia-Sama and Takemikazuchi-Sama it's nice to meet the both of you." The green-haired elf bowed slightly as both gods nodded.
"My name is Riveria Ljos Alf." The now-revealed Riveria looked at the gods before Takemikazuchi being the more active one in his research of the dungeon spoke knowing who was in front of him.
"Nine hell was it it's an honor meeting one of Loki's highest Children." Takemikazuchi bowed slightly showing his respect which Hestia did slightly but with only half the finesse as Takemikazuchi.
"My student has informed me of the situation and due to how fragile the situation is I shall be helping teach your adventurers as they teach my foolish student." Riveria looked at Lefiya who pouted at being scolded. Riveria sighed before looking at the Gods who nodded once more.
"Oh, you got to level 2 Mikoto and SS?" Lefiya said earnestly looking over her friend's status as Riveria stopped as she heard SS.
She quickly snapped out of it and started to walk towards us as I stared at the page I found myself surprised as well.

"Now that is what I call improvement." I kept my eyes on the paper as Riveria looked skeptically at the paper and even Hestia and Takemikazuchi-Sama came to look.
"Yes, it is very unexpected I've been trying to understand why she was growing so fast and why it was Mikoto herself," Takemikazuchi concluded as everyone nodded but never turned to him.
I gulped silently as I faced my Goddess she looked before nodding and giving me a look that said. "You already dug your own grave."
"Here check out mine too." I handed Lefiya my folded status paper and she opened it slowly as the people who never saw my status all had their eyes either widened or had their mouths open in shock as well.

"So that's where it comes from a Skill for growth," Riveria said out loud more to herself before a voice I didn't recognize spoke.
"Growth?" The semi-expressionless voice sounded out as everyone quickly panicked myself included as I saw the Sword Princess but in her casual wear instead of armor.
Riveria quickly composed herself and addressed the girl.
"Why are you here Ais didn't I tell you to rest back at the mansion." Riveria scolded just like a mother as Ais just tilted her head.
"Then why is Lefiya here if she can train then so can I. Plus I wanted to ask if I could join you but before coming to the decision you had already left and it took me some time to catch onto your trail." I blank and so did Mikoto.
'Is she a dog? No more like a puppy.' I thought as her face looked just like a puppy.
"Yes well, Lefiya had a special occasion and had to convince me anyway," Riveria called to Lefiya as Ais pouted.
"Though if you could help out I guess I can overlook your lapse of judgment." Ais perked up at Riveria who smiled and grabbed the bag of Valis from her pocket.
"Could you please buy Mind potions I have a feeling they'll need them." Ais nodded as she grabbed the cash and started to run.
"Uhh okay, so what are we going to train in first," I ask them as Riveria cuts through the awkwardness of the situation.
"You'll all start on your swordsmanship. Until Ais comes back then after a short while we'll go and train with your magic, Lefiya" Riveria called out Lefiya's name which made her attention spike. "Yes mam" she responded as Riveria called back. "For your magic training, you will continue working on your concurrent chanting. Mikoto." Riveria called for the black-haired girl who nodded silently in attention.
"You for your magic training shall work on your overall usage of magic and how you use it. In a battle, you can't hit yourself with your magic unless you want to become a useless ally." That made Mikoto flinch slightly at the thought of how she used her magic on herself with others.
"Bell," Riveria called my name as I looked up to her. "We will find you capabilities with your magic being Bioelectricity is something I never really heard of but I do know about enchantment magic so it should be somewhat similar to Ais's Tempest." I nodded and the gods behind me were taken by surprise at the sight.
"Loki's got a real good child in her familia," Hestia whispered to Takemikazuchi who nodded wordlessly.
"Alright start your training Ais will join in after she returns." Riveria finished and I unsheathed my sword and I slashed at Mikoto who grabbed her Katana before blocking my strike and kicking me in the gut sending me sliding down the pavement.
"Holy shit…" I gasped holding my stomach. Mikoto eyes widened as she stared at her own hands.
"I've truly gotten stronger." Mikoto dodged a clumsy slash from Lefiya but she managed to shift her weight with the sword which followed with a counterattack to Mikoto who could only challenge the level 3's might for a second before jumping back.
"You're a natural at this Lefiya it seems…" Mikoto held her blade in a stance as I got up and used my pose to try and imitate her and so did Lefiya.
"Go"

"I'm sore all over in places I never knew I had," I exclaimed sitting next to Lefiya having a break before going into our magic session it was 8 now and probably having our magic session end at 10 for us to return home and refresh.
"You said it but you were catching up fast," Lefiya said to me as Mikoto came over to us and sat down closely with us. I look over to Ais who seems to have only broken a light sweat as I see multiple small but somewhat noticeable cuts on her face.
"Hey don't say it like you didn't scratch the Sword Princess you seem to be even better than me," I said to Lefiya who looked at Ais to see her small smile.
"Yeah." Lefiya smiled to herself as I looked at her before noticing I was staring too much I turned to Mikoto who was staring at the sky. I looked at her then at the sky then back at her before noticing I was staring way too much.
I look at my hands as I start to flow green and my soreness starts to go away.
"Ah, Lady Riveria thank you." Lefiya cheered as she smiled briefly before composing herself.
"It's time for your training break time is over." I stood up now feeling brand new as we spread out to do our training.

I stood by myself trying to focus on my magic it was called Venom funny enough it's just like Miles Morales Spider-Man. Which should make me be able to do the same thing. I take my finger off my chin before focusing. 'It's a no chant magic so..' I opened my eyes to see myself with sparks of electricity piping all around my skin though it didn't hurt.
'Alright.' I jumped feeling the extra height I gained as I landed on the floor with a thud I started to swing my Chokutō which I found I moved faster so I ran trying to make sure I knew how fast I was. I moved around through the abandoned area moving through its ruined décor having random jumps and walkways. Just like an obstacle course.
I moved back to where I was and turned off the magic flowing from my body as I tested myself and almost fell over landing on my knee hunched over heavy breathing. 'Holy Shit…' I gasped as I looked up to see the Sword Princess in front of me holding a vial.
"Here drink this it's a mind potion and these are for your expedition." She handed me 5 and then the one I used as I looked at her wondering why.
"Why did you?" I ask but she bowed her head.
"I'm sorry for my rude behavior back at the guild I was irritated at the time and having someone lie to me wasn't the best thing so I apologize." She mentioned as my eyes widened and I nodded.
"Apology accepted." I pulled the cork out of the vial and downed the potion cringing at the bitter taste but I still swallowed it feeling my Mind or magic come back to full.
"Oh, you shouldn't have drank it all with at most half of it your magic should have been fully recovered." She proceeded to tell me after as I gave her a dead-eyed stare.
"Thanks for telling me…later…" I walked away from her trying to go back into my training.
"She slipped me another potion as I held the one she gave me extra in my hand as I took it in stride.
I was about to focus back on my training when I heard a yell. "You know Concurrent Chanting Mikoto!" Lefiya's voice echoed through the air as I sighed.
Concentrate. I held out my hand and tried to replicate the same move Miles Morales does in Spider-Man 2.
"Chain Lightning!" I shouted but as I let out electricity I shot myself back hitting straight into the fallen pillar I once sat on.
'Fuck that hurt a lot…' I felt a ton of pain on my back as I was growing green I turned to my right to see Riveria raising her staff.
"It's trial and error Bell Cranel don't be afraid to fail." She echoed as I felt myself smirk.
"I'm not afraid just annoyed I'm almost there." My smirk vanished as I repeated the process and shot myself into a building.
'This is going to be a long time.' I saw myself glow green again and nodded getting out of the rubble.
'Let's try smaller this time.' I sparkled the electricity in my hand as I thought of firing it and shot a small bolt of lightning in the air.
'Alright.'

After having nearly killed myself with constant throws to the wall I have concluded that I shouldn't try to shoot myself around until I get more control and a lot more magic I mean I devoured through 2 out of the 5 vials and just a couple of drops filled my magic halfway so I managed to go a long way.
Now I showered to inevitably get the sweat off and smell just generally better as I planned to get my Status updated again.
