Kousuke's POV

I remembered it was during that time. He approached me first.

"I'm small but I got big heart not like you guys!" I huffed, fighting not to cry. These bullies have been at it since I came to this school.

"Wha'cha u say?" The big one grunted, his other two minions flanked by his sides sneering down at me.

"Well, if you have big heart, you won't bully other people! That's what my mum said!" I did not back down, my mum said I am a brave boy though I can feel my knees started to tremble thinking what if these bullies want to punch and kick me.

"You hear him! So, get lost, loser." A voice got our attention.

There he stood crossing his arms, his eyes glaring at the bullies.

"Why you care?" The big one turned to the newcomer.

"I don't like small heart like you too."

Of course, that will make the bullies charged at him, what an idiot he is at that time. Apparently, he was not an idiot, he pulls out what I though first a real gun and started to aimed at the bullies who immediately cried in pain and turn tails when instead of real bullets it was paint bullets that hit them.

I looked at the bullies running away covered in paint and realised too late when the newcomer come close.

"Hey, what's your name?" he asked which startled me a bit in case he wants to shoot me too.

"I.. Kousuke, my name Kousuke" I stuttered out.

"My name Asami Ryuji, I like you so let's be friends" He hold out his hand to me.

Though bewildered I accept his gesture, as I have not had a friend yet and he is brave and have a cool gun. "Sure! I love too!"

"Ryuji-kun! What do I hear about you shooting ?!" One of the teachers, Kou-sensei approached us looking frantically worried.

"My dad will say it was self-defence," Ryuji shrugged but hand over his gun when Kou-sensei demanded it.

"Well, we will hear what your Papa have to say then," Kou-sensei sighed.

"I'm just protecting my friend here!" Ryuji added pulling me closer.

Kou-sensei looked at both of us as he just noticed I was there too. "Oh, you are Kousuke-kun right?"

I nodded timidly, hoping not to get in trouble too.

"Not that I'm not glad you finally making friends Ryuji-kun, but no more bringing gun to school alright. Now Kousuke-kun, you help sensei to look after your new friend here, ok?" He ruffled Ryuji's hair which receive a disgruntled grunt from the boy.

I nodded once again and Kou-sensei leave us alone muttering something about explaining to parents why their kids covered in paints.

"So, Kou-chan," Ryuji turned to me, smiling as if he was not in trouble a minute ago. "Let's play together!"

"Kou-chan?"

At that Ryuji seems to become flustered, "I'm sorry if you don't like me calling you Kou-chan" He rubbed at the back of his neck sheepishly.

I shook my head fast in case Ryuji do not want to be friends with me anymore, "No, no, I like it when you say my name like that. Can I call you Ryu-chan too?" I asked.

Somehow his face went even redder but he nodded nonetheless.

Next day, when I walked to our class, I noticed Ryu-chan is already in class and gestured to come and sit next to him. I am happy with the change in seating anyway so I went ans sit next to him. "Good morning, Ryu-chan!"

"G-good morning, Kou-chan"

So, that is the start of our friendship, I never saw the three bullies again…. Well, that is before I know Ryuji's father somehow behind them being transferred to other school.

"Kou-chan?"

I blinked and realised I have been day-dreaming back to the day we have met instead of finishing the paint work we were assigned for the school play.

"Are you alright?" Ryuji sat next to me, "I have been calling you many times and you didn't hear me."

"I'm sorry Ryu-chan" I said immediately. "I will finish painting soon." I look down at the tree that I should be painting and sighed, there still a lot to do. Kou-sensei will be mad at me.

Ryuji take the brush from my hand. "You should rest if not feeling well, Kou-chan. I'll take over from here, ok?"

I do not want Ryuji saw me as someone who cannot complete his work just because of small hiccup I mean it was my fault for daydreaming in the first place.

"It's ok, Ryu-chan I can finish it myself, not to worry I'm fine." I attempted to take the brush back but Ryuji move it far from my reach, grinning mischievously. "Ryu-chan, give it back please." I hit him playfully making him laughed.

"Fine, if you want to do it still, let me finish it with you," He said.

I nodded and gratefully received the brush back and Ryuji retrieved another brush.

"Thanks, Ryu-chan for helping me."

"No worries, what are fiancé for right?"

Oh right, we are more than just friends or best friends now, Ryuji said we are fiancé so that we can be together forever. I love nothing more than to be Ryuji's fiancé. Feeling grateful for him, I just kiss him on his cheeks as always, he looks flustered but I can tell he is happy.

"Ryu-chan! The tree is in wrong colour!"
