The plot in the first half of the seasons is basically classic sequel thing, main characters from JESSIE Zuri, Ravi and (the hottest of them all) Emma are going to their parents old summer camp where they not only meet new friends but also begin to understand much more simple life (Luke Ross played by Cameron Boyce doesn't appear mostly, only arriving in few episodes, it was because in 2015 disney movie Descendants was released and as some of you may know Cameron was playing the main character Carlos De Vil).
However, ever since the end of season 2, when camp was burned to the ground, Gladys the owner had entirely left, the Ross siblings become new owners of the camp and new cast who replace Xander, Jorge, Tiffany, Gladys and Griff came in, the first big change was felt, however there was still character changes on the way.
At the end of season 3 the final JESSIE characters along with all the other original characters (except Lou) are going their separate ways, originally that was supposed to end the show but the popularity of it allowed it to continue, therefore new cast and new characters were made. Although we don't meet with all of them in the first episode of season 3 and 4 some of them do remain until the end of season 7.
From the beginning of season 4 the show also takes the roll as something new not as a sequel, with the main four from JESSIE now all but grown up and went their separate ways and camp now officially sold from Ross family to Lou who is now grown from its longest camper to its owner, it made some room for the new characters and a new plot.
In short despite it changes its shape from sequel from JESSIE to its own thing I really enjoyed the show and although I have seen only to the midpoint of season 5 (in 6th of June 2024 I mean, by the time you read it I have seen more), I still like it and believe it is a great show, is it bad that main three (Emma, Zuri and Ravi) leave so soon? Yes, but that's the thing with Disney shows, about the characters who grow up over the seasons and at the end of it they go their own way leaving their childhood behind and embracing their adulthood just like in real life, teen agers live with their parents for a long time but mostly at the end of their teenage years they go to their own way (different schools, job etc).
