Kai POV: I should have known this day was going to end badly when the alarm went off at three in the morning. I was peacefully sleeping without any dreams, which is really nice every once in a while. Especially since it took me a bit to actually fall asleep. Then, without any warning, the alarm went off. And it was extremely loud, and I hated it. I nearly fell out of my bed and groaned. But I managed to stay on and rubbed my face. I quickly glanced at the clock, three in the morning, a horrible time to get up in any case. But if there was an emergency, I had to get up and help. Even if I really wanted to go back to sleep. So I got up, quickly changed, and ran to the control room. Lloyd and Zane were there, but no one else was. I swear if this wasn't serious, I was going to be more than mad.

"What's going on?" I asked, and they turned to me.

"There's a robbery in progress at Borg Tower, and it seems like they're planting bombs." Zane explained. So it wasn't a false alarm.

"And we need to go now before anything happens." Lloyd said, going to the door.

"What about the others?" I asked, following him with Zane.

"They're just getting back from the Monastery. We can meet up with them later. We don't have any time to waste." he responded.

He wasn't wrong, and the three of us rushed to the Tower. The alarms were blaring, and I could hear it from fifty feet away. And I thought that our alarm was annoying. The front door was mostly gone, and a couple of black vans were abandoned at the front desk.

"They probably went this way." I commented, and I heard Lloyd laughed at that.

Zane, however, was in the middle of scanning the building's computer, which wasn't hit by the vans somehow. Finally, he finished and said, "There's ten intruders currently in the building. But they have split up to place the bombs."

"Then we split up, too." Lloyd said as we both walked over to him.

"They are currently in three groups to cover the main labs, except the one we usually use." Zane said. But something about this seemed too easy.

If Zane knows where they are, then that means the cameras are still active. Wouldn't they disabled them to cover their tracks? That would've made it harder for us to find them. And why would they bomb the place? That doesn't make any sense. Then again, they could be dumb criminals that don't make any sense, and I could be looking into it way too much.

"Okay, Zane, you take the North lab. Kai, you get the guys in the East lab. I'll take the West lab. Keep the comms on for the others when they get here." Lloyd planned out.

"And try not to get blown up in the process, got it." I commented, but they both nodded in agreement.

"By the looks of it, the bombs are complex, and they should be easy to disable. Just be careful." Zane said as he showed us the schematics. It did look easy enough, but there's only one way to find out.

We split up, and I raced down the halls to the lab. There wasn't anyone in the halls, which was a little weird. I didn't expect to see normal employees, of course, but where was security? Zane would have mentioned them if he saw them on the cameras. So either they weren't here, or this was an inside job? That wasn't helping me or making the bad feeling go away. But I just have to focus on what I'm doing right now. That's what is important, and we can figure everything out later.

Finally, I made it to the lab. The three guys were trashing the place up, but it was obvious they were looking for something. Too bad they weren't going to.

Without wasting any time, I launched myself at the nearest guy. Knocking him down and out immediately, but that got the other two's attention. They pulled out long knives and came at me. I dodged them and kicked one of them away. But the last guy had some skill and was fast with his strikes. However, he was going against a trained ninja this time around. It didn't take me long to disarm and knock him out. The last guy got back up and tried to surprise me, but I saw him and dodged his attack. With a quick, swift punch to the gut and he was down for the count. I guess I really was too worried for no reason. And now I have to take care of the bomb.

They put it on the most obvious spot on the wall. Zane was right it wasn't that complicated, and all I had to do was cut a few wires before it shut down. But for some reason, that made me slightly nervous. This is way too easy, but they only had a few skills, and they made obvious mistakes. Why do I feel so uneasy about all of this?

I shook my head and turned on my comm link, "I got my guys. How is everyone else?"

"I have everything under control, and the bomb has been neutralized." Zane answered immediately.

"Just stopped the bomb. Looks like we're good." Lloyd soon said after.

Again, it just felt too easy. Why would they be so reckless and unprepared? I didn't like it. Unfortunately, I was proven right when my link suddenly screamed in my ear. I yanked it out and saw the electricity fly off it for a few seconds. Soon after, all the lights went out, and the emergency lights blinked on, even though they barely lit the place up. What the hell was that? Did we just get hit with an EMP?

I glanced at the guy who was knocked out. He might have something on him. Without wasting any time, I checked his pockets, and I found his phone. He didn't even have it locked, so I could see everything. And I didn't like what I found.

They wanted it to seem like this was an amateur attack to get us here. Then, they would set off an EMP to get the Tower in lockdown. Then they would set off the real bombs, and that was going to happen soon. So I needed to hurry to make it in time.

Lloyd POV: What just happened? We had just taken care of the criminals when the building died, along with the comms. I didn't feel nervous about this mission earlier, but now… I don't know. But first things first, I need to find Zane and Kai. I tried the guys up and ran out of there. After running through the halls for a bit, I ran into Zane. He was probably headed to my location.

"Are you alright?" He asked before me.

"I'm fine, but what happened?" I responded, but he shook his head.

"I don't know yet. It seems like there were more intruders than we thought. Where is Kai?" he answered. They really planned through.

"I don't know. But I'm guessing that he's probably going after these guys. We find them, we find Kai." I suggested, and I believed it. He was too stubborn for anything else.

Zane nodded but asked, "But where do we start? Borg Tower is large, and they hid from the surveillance footage."

"We have to start somewhere. Let's try the basement first. They don't do much down there, and there's a lot of blind spots." I said, and he nodded in agreement.

Immediately, we raced towards there. I just hope that this is the only surprise that they had for us.

Kai POV: How can people come up with crazy plans this early in the morning? I mean, everyone should be sleeping at this hour. Not setting up crazy machines in the basement of a giant tower. But here we are, and I wish I was still sleeping.

I knew that their real plan would be in the basement. It was the only place that didn't have a lot of cameras. And low and behold, here was the rest of the crew. Seven more guys were preparing another device that looked like a crazy drill of some sorts. These guys were also carrying knives and four of them were guarding their friends. But they acted like they had all the time in the world. Boy were they about to be surprised.

"How much longer until you're done?" One of the guards asked.

"Shouldn't be too much longer. Soon we'll get all of the disgraced Borg research we could ever want." one of the builders answered.

So that's what they're after. I didn't even know that Borg discarded his projects down here. I knew that he had a safe of some kind somewhere, but I didn't think that it was here. Either way, they can't get any of it.

So, let's do this.
