Hey! Before we begin, I'm uploading two chapters at once because I didn't want to combine the two short ones but also didn't want to upload one short one. Cya!
Tower buddies: chapter 7
Chapter 7: marcy's misadventures
It had been half a month since they had escaped the tower. Marcy was mostly spending her time upgrading her balloon- at this point she had a full on flying caravan. She used it to live in, fly around, and sometimes as an occasional popup stand where she'd sell her gizmos from. Of course, flying into a town would attract a lot of attention, so she'd made the ballon retractable and created a wind potion to instantly inflate the balloon, as well as wheels.
"Ever wanted a material stronger than anything you've ever seen before?"
"…not especially," said a tired looking frog looking at the caravan she was selling her items out of.
"…how about this nifty mechanical bow? I call it the 'gun'." The frog gained an intense interest in it once she showed how powerful it was.
"I did the right thing. Probably." Marcy said, watching the frog walk away with a shotgun held in his arms.
"Hey, lady! You got a license for this shop?" Asked a police toad walking by.
"Oh, of course, sir. Just a second." She pretended to check and pulled a lever, which released the balloon. She quickly raised off the ground.
"haha! Engineering wins again!" She said, flying away.
This was how most days ended for marcy wu. Flying away, landing in a clearing of some sort, and going to sleep.
"Good MORNING AMPHIBIA!" Marcy shouted as soon as she jumped out of bed. She was planning on trying to visit wartwood soon, and was hyped up. But first she needed groceries, and for that she needed money.
As her cart trundled into swampshiro (she had created mini thrusters with the wind potions to push it along) some frogs looked in interest. Marcy had never visited Swampshiro but clearly she should've.
She opened up. "Welcome to marcy incorporated, were we always aim for marce and beyond!" She said.
"What's marce?" A frog asked.
"It's play on 'mars'- oh yeah, nevermind," she said, remembering they probably had a completely different solar system. "Anyway, I'm here to sell you the finest innovations and gizmos!"
Some looked skeptical, whereas a few had some interest.
"Any cheap metal?" A blacksmith in the back asked.
Marcy's eyes lit up. "Nope! I have something better!" She pulled out a shimmering pink-Grey potion with a silvery sheen. "Say hello to the steel transmutation potion! Pour a drop of this bad boy onto a plank of regular wood and it turns into steel!"
The blacksmith stared for a second, then held up a bag of coins. "I'LL TAKE TEN!"
"Well, My cheese keeps rotting," said a dairy farmer, pushing her way to the front.
"Well, how about this ICEBOX!" She said.
"I found a curse that gives you hypothermia and applied it to a cupboard. Now anything inside is cooled to 0 degrees!"
A few minutes later, the lady was walking away with her new fridge.
During her day, she also managed to sell 20 bottles of fire potion, a zapepede generator (she had no idea what they were going to power with that, so she gave them some lightbulbs on the side) and a few other things, such as attachable wind thrusters, made of her new permanent wind potion. ("Just cork it up, and it'll stop!").
And of course, it was only a matter of time.
A yellow newt walked up to her stand. "Hello there, ms. Wu. I've heard of your business and just how fabulous it is. However, as the sheriff, i'm afraid it's my job to uphold the law, and i've heard from my contacts in other towns that whenever they ask for your license, you try to escape."
Marcy panicked. "Well, of course i have a license. Just a sec." She pulled the lever under the counter and the balloon inflated.
"Haha!" Marcy said, beginning to float away. "Try keeping up with my marcy wu incorporated airship, chump!"
The newt sighed. "They also mentioned this," taking out a bow.
"Good luck trying to shoot me down!" Shouted marcy. "My balloon is made of marcy wubre!(trademark)(name still in progress, it sounds wrong for some reason)! No bow can pierce this baby!"
"I'm not aiming for the balloon," the newt grinned, pulling out an arrow with a rope attached. "Good thing your 'wubre' is so good for light and durable roping."
"Oh cruuuud," marcy said, an arrow thunking into the side of the wagon. She took out her phone and called anne.
"Marcy! You haven't called since toad tower!"
"Yeah, cool. I'll be able to see you soon. You're in wartwood, right?"
"Yeah?"
"I'll be there as soon as i'll get out of trouble."
"Mar-"
She hung up.
The newt began climbing up. "It was great knowing you, ms. Wu, but i'm afraid your 'fabulous innovations' are going to be confiscated for the great of the crown."
"All this because of a permit?" Marcy asked.
"Not really. I also know strange creatures like you are wanted by toad tower."
"Well, that's great, but i'm not coming quietly," marcy said, suddenly pulling out a gun.
"Hah! You don't have the guts to kill me-" he said, before being hit with a foam bullet. "Oof!" He groaned, falling off.
"And THAT'S why i invested in an airsoft!" She shouted, flying above the clouds.
"Off to wartwood!" She said. "…although this may be difficult to navigate above the clouds. I'll be with ya soon, anne!"
————————————
Sasha was nervous. The toads were catching on to Anne and marcy. For one, a strange cloaked figure was sighted in wartwood, and although they didn't know who it was, grime had his suspicions. There was word spreading around that he was going to send more toads to investigate. They also gained four or five reports from different towns of a creature running a business called 'marcy incorporated' out of a balloon. Wow, so subtle.
As well as this, the toads had started to notice Sasha's antics. They would notice more documents missing, more weapons in the wrong place, the fact that somebody had freed half of the spiders in the middle of the night, and the fact that marcy's research from before had suddenly disappeared. They obviously didn't know it was Sasha, but they were catching on; it was only a matter of time.
