Tower buddies: Chapter 9

Chapter 9: the battle of wartwood-part 1

The townspeople were quite shocked to find that there was not one, but two new humans accompanying anne.

"Oh, they're hideous!"

"Toadie, hide me!"

"Ugh, their skin is dry."

"Hang on a second," said a voice from the crowd, turning out to be sheriff buckley. "You're a toad tower official. Why are you here?"

"I'm here…" sasha began, her throat getting dry, "i'm here to defend you guys."

Hop-pop walked forward. "The toads are coming for anne and they're gonna try take the village if they can. They'll probably take marcy too if they see her, so it's important they stay safe."

"Hop-pop, i can help-"

"No, Anne. Once the battle begins, i want you in your house, or even better, in the secret rooms you found. You hear me?"

Anne sighed. "Okay."

Suddenly toadstool walked out of the crowd. "And why are we protecting these girls? One we barely know, one actively helped oppress us and the other one has been nothing but a menace this past month and a half!"

There were a few murmurs of agreement, until Sasha walked up to toadstool.

"You say one more word about my friend and you will feel the wrath of an ex-toad tower lieutenant."

Ivy jumped out. "Anne isn't a monster! She's a nice person!"

So did Maddie. "Marcy helped me so much with my work and now i can help others with her recipes! And Anne is a close friend, too!"

Sprig also hopped to Anne's defence. "And not to mention she'd not known anybody for more than a few minutes and helped save us from our stuff being taken from the toads!"

Anne's heart warmed up. More villagers came to defend her, such as mrs. Sundew, ms. Croaker, and even wally.

"So, what do we do now?"

Sasha smiled, and said, "we prepare the field. And i think i know a person," she pointed to Marcy, who squealed and went, "Oh, i have waited so long for this."

————————————

"Sir, Commander Sasha still hasn't returned," said Braddock.

"Darn it," he said, weighing the possibilities in his mind. Either she was taking a while, or maybe even captured Anne. But she also might have betrayed them.

"Prepare the carts," the captain said, "we're going. Hopefully we can pick up Sasha on the way."

————————————

"Okay," marcy said, handing out some sort of cannons to a good twenty frogs, "these babies are full of my porta-puddle solution, courtesy of maddie and yours truly. Hit them at the toads and they'll teleport inside of Archie's cage."

She gestured to a cage with a magically enlarged spider.

Sasha assisted with showing the townsfolk where to position themselves and how to form this defensive perimeter. Maddie was handing out various curses.

"Hey, hop-pop, whatcha doing?" Anne asked.

"Making food. Can't battle on an empty stomach."

Marcy caught a whiff, and walked up. "Hey, mr. Plantar, can i have some of that stew?" She asked.

"Of course," he said, filling a bowl. "And you can call me hop-pop."

Marcy looked at the bowl inquisitively and put the contents into a flask. She then put various other ingredients in until it was a glowing powder blue.

"As i thought!" She said, "this stuff is great, hop-pop!"

"Thank yeh-"

"To make a healing potion, you need an ingredient that can kill you and reverse it's effects. Until now, i've had to harvest poison which is very difficult, but now i can make them extremely cheap with this stuff!"

Hop-pop's face turned into a deep frown. "You're welcome," he said, grumpily.

Anne and Sasha watched marcy drilling mounted tommy-guns into the floor.

"Gee, of all the people i'd expect to create and innovate weaponry, i both did and didn't expect marcy."

"Heh, i feel ya. But to be fair, this world is kinda perfect for her. I mean, DND? We're gonna have a hard time getting her back home."

Marcy heard this. Should she tell them? She dismissed it. "Some other time," she said quietly. She didn't want them to actually realise it was all her fault.

A horn was heard in the distance.

"Anne, the toads are coming!" Shouted sprig. "Get away!"

Anne hesitated for a second, before grabbing sasha and marcy. "On it!" She said, running to her hobbit hole.

Hey! Sorry if this chap is a lil' short. I appreciate sometimes i seem to skip filler which isn't always the best because you don't get to know the characters more. I'm working on it.
