Not trusting anyone in the Police, Sam and Max tried to get contact with the CIA but now they are being chased by Slick Jim and his gang.

Sam and Max Freelance Police Chapter 10
Convention Chase
Things were not looking good for the duo, they failed to find Garfield, Sam now has an Oswald ear, they unsure who to trust and suspicious of Gwen or Sam is at least, their hope of getting info to the CIA was a roadblock from Gex but to make it worse is that Slick Jim and his men have tracked them to the Fan Con.
The Valley Gang were walking through the crowded aisle of congoers, Boomtower shoving several people out the way
"Out of the way!" Amigard ordered "Move it, nerds!"
"You know originally it was called, Bakeman, B-A-K-E, and my superpower was being able to bake anything perfectly" Christian Bale said to a fan smiling and laughs "That's great isn't it. Yeah, they changed it…" He goes to sign an autograh but then Sam and Max run past making him shout in surprise
"Whoa! Coming through!" Sam called out
"Love your work!" Max called out as he ran past. The two run into an open area but get picked up by a stampeding group of Digimon and ride on the back of them "Watch out!"
"Okay. Nice Digimon, nice Digimon." Sam said worried as Max laughs enjoying the ride
Back with the Valley gang Boomtower said as he shoves a guy "Step aside. Move." He looks at the crowd and sees a tall figure that must be Sam running through the crowd "There they are" He said to the others
"Well go get them." Slick Jim ordered and Goddard woofs and runs forward with Boomtower
The chase was on as Sam and Max flee avoiding crashing into people while Boomtower and Goddard force there way through the crowd to catch them.
Boomtower grabs who they were chasing "Gotcha!" He picks the figure up, but it turns out to be Hugh Neutron not Sam.
Goddard scans and said in a computer voice "Not targets"
"Oh what?" Slick Jim said annoyed seeing it was his dad.
"Oh, Jimbo, is that you son?" Hugh said excited but gets concerned as he is unchanged from how he was in the show unlike Jimmy "Geez…is it me or did you get so…old."
"Yeah, death is coming for us all, dad." Slick Jim said to him sighing.
Meanwhile Sam and Max hide under a large table that was used for both G1 Optimus and G1 Megatron. The table was big and tall enough that Sam and Max can stand under it fully upright
"How'd they know we were here?" Max asked confused
"I'm guessing your social media post at the police station." Sam points out serious
"Ah! Oops." Max groans and chuckles "Yeah that's my bad." He sits on Optimus foot making the autobot jump in surprise
"Hey, there is something down there." Optimus said freaking out
"There's nothing down there you scraplet" Megatron told him loudly which catches Amigard's attention "You drive around in with out proper wheel protection, and you start to notice a light breeze"
Amigard suspecting the cause was Sam and Max goes to the table and lifts up the tablecloth to peak under it "Gotcha! Huh?" He found nothing there.
Sam and Max had managed to slip away but they were still easy to spot
"We need a disguise or something" Max said and sees an outfit display store ahead "In here. Grab the first thing you can."
Sam does dow and surprising when they come out of it he was in an outfit similar to his old detective outfit from the show, fedora included, only difference his his jacket was a trenchcoat like jacket "Uh….Excuse me?" Max asked surprised
They look and see the display was for Inspector Gadget that were selling clothes for fans to dress like the title character and the Inspector Gadget theme plays
"It's the Freelance Police!" A con-goer said excited seeing them. This caused more con-goers to see them and go up to talk to them and take pictures excited
However the two gasp as the two see rising above the crowd using a jetpack backpack was Slick Jim who spots them and they ran
"Brain Blast!" Slick Jim said after he flies down and lands where they were and chases them "Think, Think, Think." He said but coughs and groans as he struggles "Oh, I think I pulled something that time."
He falls to one knee and sees Boomtower and Goddard run up and orders "Boomtower, you keep going. Me and Goddard will catch up." Boomtower obeys. He sees a Farfeatch'd with a drink cup and takes it "Hey, give me that!" He sips it "Ugh! It's diet!"
"Up here!" Sam said as he and Max climb up a large Megazord model to get to the overhead catwalk.
Boomtower attempts to follow but he can't get a good footing on the Megazord. Amigard jumps off him and reaches the catwalk to give chase wielding his axe
"By my axe Fightomahawk, you will surrender to me!" Amigard said and hurls his axe just missing the dog and rabbit and embedding it in the ground of the catwalk
Sam jumps and swings down under the catwalk, Max skids to a stop to prevent being sliced by the axe blade but this caused Amigard to catch up and grab him by his ears. However Sam acts fast and rushes out from under the catwalk with a loose cable and quickly ties the viking villains legs together
"What are you doing?" Amigard said and grabs Sam by the collar "Got you!" However, the not tightens and he screams falling down dropping the Dog and Rabbit duo who stay on the catwalk and falls onto a display shocking people. He groans and sees Ballu the Great Dane come up to him "What are you looking at?"
"Honestly, your weird looking face" Ballu said and laughs
"They are weird." Colonel the Rottweiler said laughing as well
"Super weird" Zordaar the Labrador said joining in and all three, laugh
"So funny." Ballu said
Meanwhile Sam and Max manage to slide down a dinosaur from the catwalk and continue to flee from the Valley Gang. Passing by a familiar face
"Well I be Scratchnsniff's uncle. Sam and Max together again." Yakko said as he watches the duo run past "Man Wakko and Dot are never going to believe this, I mean I can barely believe it."
"Get back here!" Boomtower called out as he was giving chase passing by Yakko but stops and turns back going back to Yakko excited "Wow. Oh my towers it's you!"
"Yakko, nice to be met by you." Yakko said smiling proud
Boomtower screams excited "No way! Can I touch your face? I mean, what's going on?" He sees Goddard and stops the robot animatronic dog "Goddard, wait! Quick get a pic of me with Yakko!" Goddard sighs but obliges getting a camera out.
Meanwhile Sam and Max continue to flee. "Quick the elevator!" Max said seeing one open and the two rush to it and Max hits the door close button but there hear the familiar yelling of Amigard "Oh no!"
"I command you to halt!" Amigard yells out wielding his axe but suddenly fire comes out of no where and burns him making him stop stunned
The source of the fire was revealed to be Mushu "Yo man! You want a piece of this dragon? Well go ahead I dare you!" The dragon said putting up a fighting stance
Amigard yells out ready to strike Mushu in a rage but gets blasted by a sonic ear blast by Lexi who said "Ah, ah, ah" she grins. It seems Max's con friends heard the situation from Gex maybe and came to help. She and Mushu secure Amigard and Lexi gets on her phone "Hello 911? I have an unruly visitor here."
Sam and Max exchange looks as the doors close and smile, thank which ever deity was looking out for them that these two showed up in time.
The two made it down to the multistorey parking lot and keep on running to get away though they were getting tired
"There's the exit!" Max calls out seeing a way out of the building
They hear growling and see behind them Goddard run in and slide to chase them crashing into a car to make the alarm go off on it, followed by Boomtower as the two caught up to them
"Go, Max, go!" Sam said as Boomtower grabs his Oswald ear and pulls him back catching him
"Come on, Sam!" Max said not realizing his friend had be captured he manages to avoid Goddard and out run him and squeezes through the door "Quick! Hide up here!" he said and hides behind a large dumpster as Goddard bursts out and looks around for Max
Goddard scans the area using facial recognition but can't find Max. Boomtower comes out carrying a large bag he used to hold Sam who struggled and the two run off down the street
Max pants and looks and sees he's alone "Sam?" He peeks out and looks around "Sam where are you? Where are you buddy?" He looks distraught he gets worried and hides hearing a police car come by and it was then he realized what happened "No, no, no, no, no!"
Meanwhile at the LAPD, Gwen was getting her gun, badge and keys off her desk, she heard about the commotion at the convention and wanted to go check it out
"Hey, Gwen. I just got a tip" Captain Mechamorph said walking up to her "I think your dog and rabbit friends are in trouble."
"I know, sir." Gwen said putting her coat on "I'm heading to the convention center now."
"No, it's worse than that. Come on. We got to move fast before it's too late" Mechamorph said and the two head out
As they head out, we see Amigard being escorted in by two stormtroopers, he was struggling while saying "You're going to arrest me while Mario's been embezzling from his own charity for years? Everyone knows it!"
Meanwhile the remaining members of the Valley Gang had taken Sam to the warehouse that was clear of police and snuck back in. Goddared had bound Sam up in tape and Boomtower sticks him to a wall. Slick Jim laughs as he works on the computer to get the reconstructor back online
"Where's Max?" Sam asked him as he glares at the criminal
"He'll be here, keep your shoes on" Slick Jim told him
"I don't wear shoes." Sam told him simply
"Yeah, I noticed." Slick Jim states "It's not something to brag about." He laughs
"What do you even want?" Sam asked him
"I want you to stop messing with my business." Slick Jim told him "You exposed everything, now I have to move all this stuff, and start over. It's super annoying."
"Not to mention be harder now that Amigard is arrested" Boomtower points out
"Yeah, but he knows to keep his mouth shut, eventually we'll get him out once everything is settled." Slick Jim said and then said to Sam as he goes to a tool kit "You should have just let me bootleg you when you came to my office. Could have saved us both a ton of headaches. Ah!" Slick Jim said and pulls out an eraser. "Besides, I was always more a Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries person."
"You monster." Sam said glaring
Slick Jim laughs moving closer till Gwen is heard saying "Freeze Slick Jim" She was their weapon drawn on the villain
At first Slick Jim was surprised but then he gives a confident smirk and said "Nah, how about you freeze instead?"
Gwen hears a mechanical gun click and looks behind her to see Captain Mechamorph with his gun arm aimed at her. "Drop it Gwen." He ordered her
"What? Captain Mechamorph?" Gwen said shocked putting her arms up and putting her gun down
"Max was right." Sam said shocked that indeed the inside man was the police captain and groans saying "How cliche."
"I know. It's a bit unoriginal, right?" Mechamorph said nodding in agreement amused "Slick Jim, remember when you first approached me to turn bad, become a bad guy, work with you, and I was like 'Come on! That's too predictable.'"
"Yeah. And what did I tell you?" Slick Jim chuckled grinning
"If it ain't broke…" Both said and laughed recalling.
"How could you?" Gwen asked her captain in disbelief
"I know, I know, it's terrible." Mechamorph said and explained "I am so ashamed. But I had no choice. My mother needed an operation. See she got injured playing a game of Operation. She got too close to the sides and, uh…" He sniffed a bit "…she got buzzed really bad." Captain Mechamoph cries a bit but then laughs revealing it to be fake and said "Oh, I'm sorry. I couldn't do it any longer. Money. I'm a greedy tall Geth who did it for the money."
"Hilarious." Sam said rolling his eyes, just how cliché is this corrupt captain going to be
"Yeah, but I had you going there for a second, didn't I?" Mechamorph said to them. He then pretends to be on a phone as he mockingly in a fake voice said "'Hello, I think I saw Gumball, heading into Cartoon Network.'"
Gwen's eyes widen in shock as she realizes something and said "It was you? You gave the fake tip. You derailed the whole investigation and…and worst of all you made me doubt myself."
"Oh, come on. Don't be so fragile." Mechamorph told her mockingly
It was then Goddard grabbed Gwen and Boomtower brings a chair, time to make sure she was unable to try anything, but their was one loose end they needed to get and she may be their way of getting him.
