As Anna started to wake up, she heard two female voices talking over her. "Is she alright?" A very gentle voice asked in concern, Anna didn't know who the voice belonged to, but she could sense that the voice's owner was a kind and caring person. "I don't see any injuries, but I think she's starting to wake up." A second voice replied, this voice sounded kinda like a teenage girl which made Anna wonder if both the girls could help her. "Ugh." Anna groaned, she started to try and open her eyes. "She's waking up! Hide!" The first voice told her friend, Anna heard their footsteps retreat as she finally opened her eyes, only to close them again in order to adjust to the brightness of the sunlight. "What...happened?" Anna muttered as she sat up, looking around, Anna saw that her lifeboat was now broken and unable to be fixed. "That's just great." Anna said with a sigh, she got up then went over to the water to check her reflection.
Anna didn't see any injuries on her just as the second voice had said before, but she wanted to confirm that for herself. "Not a scratch...that's surprising." Anna said as she brushed her waist-length light brown hair with her fingers then put it into a ponytail then took off her purple sneakers so she could remove the sand from them before brushing the sand off her pink t-shirt with the land before time gang on it as well as her light blue shorts, then switched her attention back to the jungle that was behind her. "Where'd those two go?" Anna wondered out loud, her warm amber eyes trying to see through the foliage. "Should we talk to her?" The first voice asked her friend softly, it seemed that whoever the two voices belonged to were hiding for a very good reason. "Alright, but let's hope she doesn't freak out." The second voice responded after a moment, Anna wondered why the two thought that she would freak out. "Are you alright?" The first voice asked kindly, Anna blinked at the question but answered. "Yes. May I ask who you two are?" Anna asked lightly as she was a bit nervous about the two who were hiding from her. "I'm Shanise. Who're you?" Shanise asked as her blue eyes could now be seen, Anna subtly took a step back. "I'm Anna Lafayette. Why don't you two come out?" Anna replied before seeing her backpack. "We didn't want to scare you." The second voice answered this time, Anna grabbed her bag, but the second voice tugged on it. "You can let go now." Anna told the second voice, she tried in vain to get the other girl to let go but she was pulled into the bushes.
Anna shook her head then looked up to see a yellow Chasmosaurus and a pink Corythosaurus. "Hey, I'm 26." The smaller dinosaur said with a smile, she leaned in a little to get a closer look at Anna, the young girl didn't know what to think right now. "Please don't be scared." The taller dinosaur said to Anna, she realized that Shanise must be the corythosaurus. "Talking dinos?" Anna uttered in shock, her mind had officially been blown and broken at the same time. "Are you going to freak out?" 26 asked Anna, she supposed that would've been the logical thing to do here, but for some reason that she didn't understand, Anna didn't scream, run or even faint at the sight of two talking dinosaurs, so she closed her mouth then sat up. "See. Anna didn't freak out." Shanise said with a smile, 26 was also happy that the newcomer wasn't freaking out over the fact that dinosaurs were still around. "I don't get it. Dinosaurs have been extinct for millions of years, but how're you here?" Anna asked in wonder, she really hoped that someone hadn't pulled a Jurassic park stunt just to recreate the dinosaurs or else this was going to get bad. "While dinosaurs have been gone for a long time in the outside world, we've been here for even longer." 26 responded as Anna got back up, she slung her bag over her shoulders. "Where is here?" Anna asked the two, Shanise and 26 smiled as they lead Anna back towards the beach, but this side was further from where they had found the young girl as they heard many more voices coming from it as well as a roar.
Anna then looked up to see a Quetzalcoatlus flying above the beach as humans and dinosaurs all played together. "That's a lot of people and dinosaurs." Anna thought as she took a step back out of nervousness, the young girl was definitely out of her comfort zone, and it didn't help that 26 began to nudge her forwards. "Don't be shy." 26 told Anna as they walked closer to everyone else, the beach goers were excited to see another newcomer to the island. "Where...are we?" Anna asked with a slight tremor in her voice, Shansie looked down at Anna in concern as she noticed that the new human was a little scared. "This is Dinotopia." 26 answered calmly, Anna had never heard of the island before realizing that it had to be hidden somehow or else the place would've been the talk of the town. "Dinotopia?" Anna repeated as she tested the name, it was an appropriate name for the island to be called that since they had dinosaurs living on it. "That's right, and your a newcomer." Shanise said happily, Anna wondered why that made everyone so happy since she wasn't planning on staying for very long, but then Anna decided that maybe she could check to see if Kex was somewhere on the island, then once she found him if he was, they could leave to travel the world together since that had always been the plan for them.
The Quetzalcoatlus got Anna's attention as it flew around the beach. "Wanna give it a try?" 26 asked with a knowing smile, Anna smiled and nodded as 26 called the huge flying dinosaur over to where they were standing. "Be careful." Shanise advised Anna, the young girl carefully climbed into the back of the flyer before her. "Try not break the tide pools!" 26 added onto that, she remembered how another newcomer had accidentally broken some rocks in the nearby tide pools which made her best friend mad at the other newcomer in question. "Why would I-!" Anna started to ask, she was stopped as the Quetzalcoatlus took off into the sky where Anna turned on her music before she started skateboarding on the giant flying dinosaurs back which impressed the audience below them. "This is amazing!" Anna shouted as she skated down the back of an Apatosaurus then onto the water where she saw the incoming tide pools with a girl her own age in the water feeding the animals. "Don't!" The girl warned Anna, she maneuvered her board in the water then manipulated her own movements in order to avoid destroying the tide pool as well as to avoid running into the girl. "Sorry about that!" Anna said as she took off her helmet, 26 and Shanise arrived onto the scene where Anna was talking to the girl. "At least the tide pool is alright." The blue-haired girl responded, she looked over to Anna realized that the new girl is a newcomer. "I'm Mara, and you?" Mara asked with a welcoming smile on her face, Anna gave her a wave of the hand. "I'm Anna Lafayette." Anna replied with a smile, she really didn't want to get on Mara's bad side. "Good to see that you've met!" 26 called out, both girls looked towards her and Shanise as they came over to them. "We found her washed up on the beach." Shanise told Mara, the blue-haired girl looked at Anna, who was getting her helmet. "She doesn't have a family." 26 added on, this made Anna freeze for a moment since she hadn't told either 26 or Shanise that she didn't have a family. "How'd they know that? Was it that obvious?" Anna wondered to herself, she the felt an arm wrap itself around her shoulders, looking up Anna saw that Shanise was looking at her in concern. "I'm alright." Anna whispered to her, Shanise knew that Anna was far from alright, but she decided not to push the real answer out of Anna.
"Why don't we take Anna back to the hatchery?" Mara suggested to her friends, 26 and Shanise loved the idea while Anna had no idea what the hatchery was. "Is it really okay?" Anna asked anyways, the trio nodded while smiling. "Please, lead the way." Anna responded kindly, the four walked away from the beach while explaining how things worked on Dinotopia since Anna was new, but her good mood faded as Mara told her that once someone was on the island, they couldn't leave. "Why can't we leave?" Anna asked as the uneasy feeling came back, turns out that the razor sharp reef in the water, and the storm that surrounded island were the main reasons for why no one could leave once they landed onto the shore. "Okay, now I'm scared again! This was NOT suppose to happen!" Anna screamed in her mind, she then began to wonder how she and Kex were going to see the world now if they couldn't leave Dinotopia. "We're here!" 26 said loudly, Anna snapped out of her thoughts before seeing the huge building in front of her where a man and a very familiar boy were waiting for them.
"Anna, that's my father John, and that's-" Mara started before Anna ahead of them. "KEX!" Anna shouted happily, the boy turned to the voice as his eyes widened. "ANNA!" Kex replied in excitement, he and Anna met half-way before they hugged each other in happiness, Mara, 26, Shanise and John watched the duo with surprised looks on their faces. "You two know each other?" 26 asked in shock, none of them had expected Anna and Kex to already know each other. "We're best friends." Kex answered as Anna finally let go, the two best friends turned towards each other so they could get a good look at the other since it had been four weeks since they'd last seen each other on the outside world. "What're you doing here?" Kex asked Anna, she smiled at him. "When you vanished, I went looking for you." Anna replied to Kex, that's when he remembered the promise that they had made back then. "Sorry for leaving without you." Kex responded sheepishly, that made Anna laugh at her best friend. "Don't leave me behind again." Anna playfully scolded Kex, he laughed along with her. "How about a tour of the hatchery?" John offered Anna, she apologized for ignoring him as they shook hands. "I'd love a tour, thank you." Anna said with a sweet smile, the tour went smoothly as they reached the nursery where Anna met Mara and Kex's sauropartners, Crystal a pink baby Corythsosaurus and Ace a light blue baby Paraurolophus. "They are so cute." Anna cooed at the babies, they giggled and babbled at the newcomer which made Kex and the others smile. "It's their nap time now." John told Mara and Kex, the two looked at the babies then wondered how they were gonna get them to sleep since their partners often ran off at this moment. "Maybe I could help?" Anna suggested nervously, Mara and Kex nodded as they picked up their partners who began to squirm in their grasps. "What're you going to do?" Mara asked as Crystal tried to escape, that's when Kex smiled as he knew where this going to go. "You'll see." Kex told Mara as he shifted Ace in his arms, Anna got the babies attention onto her as they watched with wonder in their eyes as Anna began the lullaby.

At the end of the song, Mara and Kex gently put their respective partners into their cribs for a nice long nap. "How'd you know that would work?" Mara whispered to Anna, she shrugged her shoulders in response to Mara's question. "Lullabies always work." Kex answered for his best friend, the truth was that Anna didn't actually know if the lullaby would work, but she was happy to see that it worked to help get Crystal and Ace down for their naps. "Let's go find Albagon." 26 whispered to her friends, turns out that Albagon who was Dryosaurus was on the roof of the hatchery along with Spazz a baby Dilophosaurus, Kex, 26 and Mara told Anna about how 26 and Spazz got their names on the way up. "So, you have to earn the right to adopt a dinosaur for a suaroparnter?" Anna asked as she thought it over, that actually sounded right to Anna since you had to make sure that the human and dinosaur were a good match for each other. "Pretty much." Spazz said with a lazy smile, after that Albagon told Anna about the sunstones and how they protected the island from the outside world while also keeping in mind about the storm as well as the razor sharp reef. "No wonder no one knows about Dinotopia." Anna thought as she realized that if the island was found, the lives of everyone who lived there would be in danger.
Anna and Kex's eyes met for a moment, but it was enough to know that they needed to talk once they were alone. "What should we do now?" Spazz asked his friends, they all looked at each other before Mara grabbed Anna's left hand then pulled her back down stairs. "Let's go play outside the hatchery!" Mara suggested, the others cheered in agreement since they wanted to play hide and seek. "Who'll be it?" Anna asked, the voices of the kids faded while John and Albagon stayed on the roof. "What it is?" John asked Albagon, the wise old dinosaur sighed. "Anna coming here means that sapphire sunstone will appear." Albagon told John, the human looked at his oldest friend. "Why would she make that sunstone appear?" John asked in concern, they may have just met Anna, but both were worried about her. "She's the one who will save Dinotopia from Ogthar." Albagon answered his young friend, both them looked down at where the children were playing. "Will Anna be alright?" John asked in worry, Albagon didn't have the answer for that question, which meant all the two could do was pray for Anna's safety once Ogthar made his reappearance which would very soon.
New chapter done! I don't own Mara, 26, Shanise, Kex, John, Albagon, or Spazz, I also don't know what Mara and Kex named their partners, so I gave them names.
