When I return to my office, Kate is already waiting for me. "Carmen is here early. You don't have anything pressing so I set her up in the boardroom."
I grab my notes and follow her down the hall.
The theme of the event is more laid back, fun in the sun, a Fourth of July bash, and we plan on hosting it in a beachfront banquet hall. Guests will be encouraged to utilize the beach, and Kate is planning on a big bonfire once the sun goes down.
As usual, Carmen and her staff are prepared with ideas and options. In keeping with the theme, we decide on gourmet burgers and hot dogs with all the fixins and plenty of vegan options.
As far as desserts go, we're going to serve strawberry shortcake, banana pudding, and s'mores. That last one is for you. You once told me they were your guilty pleasure, and I live to make you happy.
Kate gives me a knowing smile when I make the request, but I ignore her.
Having the menu planned, I leave Kate to settle the deposit and head back to my office. I take a few minutes to clean up our lunch mess, grab an iced coffee from the kitchen, and get back to work.
The programing department has been working a lot of overtime, writing code and correcting the kinks that held up production. I plan on rewarding them handsomely for all their hard work. I could host a lunch to show my appreciation, but money talks and is better received.
Once the product launches, everyone will be given a week off. We close shop, but certain departments will be on call, God forbid something goes wrong.
Kate and Garrett are planning on taking Jasper to Universal Studios, and you admitted that you haven't been in years, so we're tagging along, making a whole vacation out of it.
I finish drawing up my letter of thanks that'll be added to the bonuses and decide to head out for the day.
You mentioned that you were running low on moving boxes, and I want you home as soon as possible, so I run by a supply store and pick up some more supplies.
